Assignment: Explain Ephesians 2:1-10 (I did it subjectively)

1Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. 

When in sin, I can't keep track of time. I now know that it means or symbolizes my death.

2You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.

I can be only with God or satan--not both.  If I'm not obeying God, then I'm obeying Satan. (Insert: ain't nobody got time for that!)

 3All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.

I thought I was being spontaneous. Nah bruh.  I was doing what I wanted to do without any regard to God for what He had for my life. By definition, spontaneous means "performed or occurring as a result of a sudden inner impulse or inclination and without premeditation or external stimulus." God could have very easily smited me.

4But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much,

I think that's pretty self-explanatory. 

5that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 

When I accepted Christ, I woke up. Time was no longer dragging. Christ died for my trangressions. He took those on and was separated from God even though he was sinless, faultless.

6For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

I joined Christ in the faithful act of repentance and baptism, believing in God's promise for Christ to have all authority. Christ is the Way to the Father. Jesus is Lord.

7So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.

God will use me as a model to show others, "Look! You can be redeemed too." [To me that's a challenge, but one I'm willing to take!]

8God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 

I do not deserve any of this, and I don't have the power to make it happen. God lavished his grace on my life. My faith is in him alone.

9Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 

Umm...I mess up so much and so frequently, that I feel as though there aren't any good things to boast about. Truthfully speaking.  Salvation, though, doesn't come in the form of a Scooby Snack when you find a clue to pleasing God. [Yes, I said scooby snack.] Or a treat for learning how to obey like a dog. Just like in the previous verse, "God saved...when you believed." There's still plenty more work to be done to cut the strings that separate me from God.  And I will never be done until God calls me home. Until then, it's a fight--Godly self vs. worldly self. No premium channels necessary. You can see it all over my face or my blog.

10For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

God looks at me with eyes of tender love and grace [Thank you Jesus!]. He sees me for my potential and who he created me to be. I pray that I am abiding by his will.  I seek him constantly for his strength and desire my heart to desire what he wants for me because I only want to serve him. Again, there's that daily fight, but I'ma make it.

Why then do you continually borrow trouble from tomorrow or next or next year? Live only in today. That is My command to you. That is what I am pleading with you to do. Live in today, this very day, no other. What a change there will be as you do this.
