So my short 2 week Peruvian vacation has now ended! I had a great time with my parents and @paulinacasatiart ! I am beyond grateful for being able to reconnect with my original homeland again! We spent our last couple of days back in Lima checking the cool murals in Miraflores and the “Gold Museum” which has my favourite collection of Pre-Colombian artifacts (along many mummies). I also got to see the new (very touching/trippy) Avatar movie and had a lunch with some old friends from my youth. Wir sind im Stadtteil Miraflores untergebracht. Hier ist alles ziemlich gepflegt. Hier wohnen die Wohlhabenden und alles ist gut gesichert und man kann hier problemlos herumlaufen. Nach dem Frühstück fahren wir mit Uber ins Centro histórico. Lima ist ein Moloch; die Entfernungen sind riesig und der Verkehr ist dicht und chaotisch. Wir brauchen 40 Minuten. Die Plaza Mayor ist abgesperrt mit viel Polizei, weil eine Demo erwartet wird. Während der 2,5 Stunden, die wir dort sind, sehen wir allerdings keinen einzigen Demonstranten.

Wir gehen zunächst in die Kathedrale, wobei der größte Teil jetzt ein Museum ist und man kann nur staunen über die Schätze und den Reichtum, der hier im Laufe der Jahrhunderte angesammelt wurde. Danach gehen wir zum Konvent San Francisco, wo wir gerade noch vor der Schließung reinkommen.

Später gehen wir die Fußgängerzone entlang zur Plaza San Martin. Danach fahren wir zum Museo Oro de Perú, also Goldmuseum. Die Fahrt dauert über 45 Minuten. Dort gibt es im UG viele Goldexponate hauptsächlich aus der Incazeit. Im EG gibt es eine große Waffensammlung, die wir nur kurz anschauen. Dann fahren wir erschöpft ins Hotel.

Went by Pine Mountain to hopefully ride their Christmas light train, unfortunately they didnt have space for walk ins until late. (Despite their being empty seats on the train 🤷‍♀️) So no Christmas light pics unfortunately, but I did stop inside briefly. It's a nice place, I just wish they had other things to do other than the train.
