Yor worrying that her disappearing because of her job would mean she betrayed the Forgers vs Yor realizing that the risk is worth protecting them.

Grey colours, the Forgers as she first met them having their backs at her with empty, disappointed faces, vs bright, warm colours, the Forgers as she now knows them facing her directly and smiling at her.

She starts the story feeling like an outcast, fearing that no-one, not even her brother, will accept her as she is. That people will turn their back on her, and her life will continue being colourless and lonely.

Then her life fills with colour, with people who will face her head-on and accept her. She develops into confidence that the Forgers care for her and is reminded that even if she ever has to leave because of her job, the knowledge that she protects innocent people...

and that this work of hers will be acknowledged...

... is enough to give her the strength to carry on.

One thing I don’t like about modern portrayals of the Greek myths is this tendency to portray Aphrodite as, essentially, either goddess Regina George, or a flat “girly-girl”, like honey no. (Again, valid interpretation- still not one I like)

This is a complex, multifaceted goddess - so multifaceted, in fact, that she had multiple forms and epithets, including at least one (1) male form named Aphroditus, usually depicted with an erect phallus

Aphrodite Ourania, the daughter of Ouranos, heavenly and spiritual and far separated from the works of man, goddess of the celestial love and homosexual desire

Aphrodite Apotrophia, the goddess of love in Thebes, who expelled from the hearts of man lust and sinful pleasure

Aphrodite Areia of Sparta, warlike and fierce, lover of Ares, the armored one. Worshipped through the Hybristica, when women took on the traditional roles of men

Aphrodite Pandemos, daughter of Zeus and Dione, goddess of common, sensual pleasure, worshipped alongside her companion Peitho, goddess of persuasion, goddess of heterosexual desire

She of the common man, whose sanctuary was erected by philosopher Solon and paid for by the escorts and prostitutes she was the patron goddess of - well, according to the records, mostly the hetairai, the high-class escorts, but I always assumed that that was because the pornai, their cheaper counterparts, simply couldn’t afford it

Melainis, the Black One. Androphanos, Killer of Men. Anosia, the Unholy One. Tymborychos, the Grave-digger, but also Eleemon, the Merciful, also Genetyllis, Mother, also Morpho, the Shapely

The goddess of fury was trapped by silver, the cool waters to drown her flames, that ordered her to be calm when she yearned for her ire.

The goddess of death returned by turning ice cold, her heart ripped out, no warmth in her eyes.

The goddess of fury returned by engulfing herself in the flames of passion, of anger, of love, her irises set ablaze again.

Mami Tomoe is my least favourite Magical Girl. Her way of being, her actions... but I really like her story, she is very human. She is the only one who went with a wish that was only for her which is understandable. She was dying, of course she would choose to live in that moment. She is also very lonely. I wanted to give her this title at the beginning. The title of Goddess of Loneliness. But, in my opinion, Ignorance suits her more. I thought about it in a bad way at first because her ignorance made some tragic repercussions for all of them. But it is a way to live for her. She used her wish to live, she used her wish for herself and she was going to pay for it being a Magical Girl. She preferred to stay in her bubble, preferred not to think more about what everything means, what they really are. She just didn't react well because of all of that. She lost her friends. She lost her head. I think her would learn something from it and she would become the Goddes for those who Ignored and bring them Wisdom.
