Nothing Can Separate Us from God’s Love

31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.

35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”[a]) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Restoration for Israel

How you are cut down to the ground,    you who laid the nations low! 13 You said to yourself,    “I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne    above the stars of God; I will sit on the mount of assembly    on the heights of Zaphon; 14 I will ascend to the tops of the clouds;    I will make myself like the Most High.” 15 But you are brought down to Sheol,    to the depths of the Pit. 16 Those who see you will stare at you    and ponder over you: “Is this the man who made the earth tremble,    who shook kingdoms, 17 who made the world like a desert    and overthrew its cities,    who would not let his prisoners go home?” 18 All the kings of the nations lie in glory,    each in his own tomb, 19 but you are cast out, away from your grave,    like loathsome carrion, clothed with the dead, those pierced by the sword,    who go down to the stones of the Pit    like a corpse trampled underfoot. 20 You will not be joined with them in burial    because you have destroyed your land;    you have killed your people.

May the descendants of evildoers    nevermore be named! 21 Prepare a place of slaughter for his sons    because of the guilt of their father. Let them never rise to possess the earth    or cover the face of the world with cities.

22 I will rise up against them, says the Lord of hosts, and will cut off from Babylon name and remnant, offspring and posterity, says the Lord. 23 And I will make it a possession of the screech owl and pools of water, and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction, says the Lord of hosts.
