Here are some helpful tips on what to look for when buying travel accessories and digital products tailored for your adventure.
1. Identify Your Needs Before you start shopping, think about what you will need during your safari. Consider the tour activities you plan to do and the climate you’ll be in. Are you going to be hiking, taking a lot of photos, or spending time in a luxury lodge? You will need to identify your safari needs to create a comprehensive travel accessories list. 2. Look for the Best Travel Accessories to Pack on Every Trip Some travel accessories are versatile and can be used on every trip, not just on safaris. Items like packing cubes help organize your luggage, while travel pillows ensure comfort during long flights. When you buy the best travel accessories that can be used anywhere, you’re investing in products that will serve you well in the future. 3. Focus on Functionality When selecting travel accessories, focus on functionality. For example, a multi-use tool can serve various purposes, saving you space and weight in your luggage. Look for products like convertible backpacks that can transition from a day pack to a camera bag, making them perfect for the safari environment. 4. Prioritize Comfort Comfort is key, especially for long travel days. For example, consider the best travel accessories for long flights such as noise-canceling headphones or an eye mask to help you sleep. Look for travel-sized toiletries that are easy to pack but also ensure your comfort during your journey.
5. Think About Size and Weight When buying travel accessories, consider size and weight, especially if you plan to carry your gear on safari vehicles or while hiking. Lightweight and compact items, such as quick-dry towels or travel-sized chargers, will make your packing easier. Avoid bulky items that will take up valuable space in your luggage. 6. Check Durability and Quality Invest in durable and high-quality travel accessories that can withstand the rough conditions of a safari. Look for products made from strong materials that can endure various weather conditions. Items like waterproof bags or rugged travel gear are excellent choices to protect your belongings from dust and moisture. 7. Explore Unique Travel Accessories Safaris often require unique travel accessories that may not be necessary for other trips. For instance, consider packing insect repellent or a good pair of binoculars. These unique travel accessories can enhance your experience and help you fully appreciate the wildlife around you. 8. Consider Travel Accessories for Women and Men When shopping for travel accessories, consider specific needs for travel accessories for women and travel accessories for men. Women may want to look for stylish yet functional bags that offer safety features, while men might prefer rugged gear that blends in with the safari environment. Shopping with gender-specific needs in mind ensures everyone has the best tools for their adventure. 9. Read Product Reviews Before making a purchase, read digital travel product reviews to understand how well each item performs in real-world conditions. Look for reviews that highlight the pros and cons of the travel products you’re interested in, as well as feedback from other travelers. This will help you make informed choices about which accessories are worth your investment. 10. Invest in Digital Travel Products Digital travel products, like portable chargers and GPS devices, are essential for safaris where access to power may be limited. Ensure you invest in reliable products that offer great battery life and durability. Consider using digital cameras or smartphones with high-quality lenses to capture the stunning wildlife and landscapes. 11. Budget Wisely Lastly, set a budget for your travel accessories and stick to it. While it's tempting to buy every new gadget or accessory, focus on what you really need. Prioritize your spending on high-quality items that will last and enhance your safari experience. Takeaway: Following these tips, you can confidently purchase the best travel accessories and digital products for your African safari. Remember to assess your needs, prioritize comfort and functionality, and check product reviews to ensure you make the best adventure choices. Insta360's Newest Action Camera is its Smallest One Yet
When it comes to portable action cameras, most people tend to think of companies like DJI and GoPro, two of the most well-known brands for both professional and consumer-grade video equipment. with that in mind however, Insta360's growing range of imaging and video hardware has proven to be some of the best on the market as well, and the new Insta360 Go 3 is no exception. Announced earlier today, the Insta360 Go 3 comes with a nice set of features for folks after a reliable action cam to take with them on trips and video projects. But what exactly does it come with? Let's take a look! Hardware & Design At 35 grams, the Insta360 Go 3 is one of the most compact action cameras on the market, with a very minimalist style to boot - gone are the days of blocky and rectangular cameras, and instead the Go 3 features a pill-shaped design, which remains mostly inconspicuous aside from the protruding camera lens. There's a button in front to allow users to instantly record footage, reducing the amount of time needed to access menus and whatnot. Additionally, there are two built-in mics that capture audio while recording. The camera also integrates a magnetic design, allowing it to easily clip onto compatible mounts. There's also a magnet pendant which allows users to wear the Go 3 like a necklace, allowing for more freedom while recording. Insta360 does offer an optional Action Pod, which clips onto the camera and increases battery life for up to 170 minutes worth of video recording, compared to the 45 minutes on the camera alone. It also comes with IPX8 water resistance for up to 16 feet of submersion. Camera & Features The Go 3's lens features f2.2 aperture, with a focal length of 11.24mm. Users can shoot INSP and DNG photos in several resolutions including 2560x1440 (16:9), 2560x2560 (1:1), 1440x2560 (9:16), and 2936x1088 (2.7:1). There's also support for several video resolutions including 2720x1536 at 24/25/30fps, 2560x1440 at 24/25/30/50fps, and 1920x1080 at 24/25/30/50fps, which are recorded in an MP4 format. There's also built-in video stabilization courtesy of a 6-axis gyroscope inside. Additionally, the Insta360 Go 3 comes in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage options. There's a rechargeable battery inside which is sized at 310 mAh, although users can use the additional Action Pod which comes with a larger 1270 mAh battery to increase recording time, as mentioned earlier. The Insta360 will have compatibility with the official Insta360 app for iOS and Android devices for on-the-go editing, with wireless connectivity options including Bluetooth 5.0 and 5GHz Wifi. Pricing and Availability You can order the Go 3 on Insta360's official website now, which will cost you $379.99 for the camera alone. Users looking to get a bundled version with hardware add-ons can get the Go 3 Action Kit for $414, Travel Kit for $429, Water Sports Kit for $453, Bike Kit for $469, and the Creator Kit for $444. Gift Guide: For the budding video creator
If you’re interested in cameras and taking pictures, you should definitely check out our 2019 Photography Gift Guide, but if you’re specifically looking to encourage a developing creator who wants to work with video on their preferred platform of choice, be it YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or any other, you’ve come to the right place. From smartphone accessories to get the most out of their built-in cameras, to stuff for people with more expensive dedicated camera setups, we’ve got it all.
Hex Bags camera backpacks – $190-$240
A good camera bag is a necessary accessory for anyone who is shooting with something other than their phone, and the Hex Back Loader DSLR Backpack and Hex Cinema Backpack are great options that are actually less expensive than some of the bigger brand options out there, but with modern styling that means they look less like something designed for function alone, and more like a backpack that would actually draw compliments. The Back Loader is perfect for a mirrorless kit, and should easily slide under the seat in front of you on an airplane, while the Cinema has plenty of room for larger DSLRs and lenses.
Zhiyun Weebil-S gimbal – $350
A good gimbal is a creator’s best friend, since stabilized video footage beats shaky-cam nonsense. The Zhiyun Weebill-S is a new offering from the company that basically provides the perfect blend of size, power, connectivity and control features and more. Its unique design has real advantages in the field vs. other similar gimbals, and it’s not going to break the bank, either.
Mavic Mini – $350
Mavic’s latest drone is all about distilling the consumer drone down to the basics – and it’s great. The $350 Mavic Mini is way, way cheaper than any of their fancier consumer drones, and it offers really excellent 2.7K video that looks cinematic right out of the camera. For anyone publishing on social channels who aren’t concerned about producing 4K content (no one really should be prioritizing that, really), this is the one to get, since it’s small enough it doesn’t need to be registered with the FAA to fly.
Samsung T5 – $100-$400
Samsung’s tiny, portable SSDs have a long history of delivering great reliability and performance in a form factor that’s so portable it’s easily pocketable. The drives come in sizes ranging from 500GB to 2TB, and you should be able to find them on sale in at least one of these configurations going into the holiday season, which means that you can probably find them for even less than that cost range posted above. A good SSD is a must for offloading video captured in camera on SD cards, and some of the newer cameras will let you record directly to these drives via USB-C.
Backup batteries and SD cards – Starting at around $40
These are easy gifts to get video creatives, which never go out of style and which will always be appreciated. You can never have enough spare memory cards, or enough backup batteries. Just make sure you get the right ones for whatever camera system your giftee is using: And for memory, focus on cards like the SanDisk Extreme Pro with 170MB/S transfer speeds to ensure good performance with 4K video capture.
GoPro Hero8 – $400
A GoPro is an extremely versatile piece of kit for a video creator. The ruggedness, portability, built-in stabilization and range of modes mean you can capture some amazing additional footage to compliment stuff you’re recording on your primary camera – or give you everything you need to capture a great travel vlog in the moment. The newest GoPro Hero8 has features including more advanced stabilization, compatibility with additional video accessories, digital lenses and more tat make it the best camera the company has ever made for creators.
Microphones – $25-$200
A good microphone is a necessity for making good videos, and there are a wide range of options available. To give you just a few options at very different price points, look at the Saramonic SR-XM1. It’s a generally not sold for more than $35, and is dead simple with a 3.5mm connector to plug directly into the camera port on a wide range of devices. Saramonic also makes iPhone mics with lightning connectors for similar prices. Then, at $200, the Rode Wireless Go is more expensive – but still a bargain for a totally wireless microphone system that can provide audio directly to your camera. Pair it with an optional lavalier mic and you’re going to get great results.

Inside the World's Greatest Scavenger Hunt, Part 2
yahoo
GISHWHES stands for the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen. Teams of 15 have one week to complete a list of 200 difficult, charitable, or hilarious tasks. They prove they’ve completed each item by submitting a photo or video of it; their $20 entry fees go to a charity, and the winning team gets a trip to an exotic location.
(This is Part 2 of our five-part series that goes inside the hunt. Here’s Part 1.)
Part 2: The hunt begins
At 7:30 am on a bright Saturday morning, five members of Team Raised from Perdition gather near San Francisco. (The team name quotes the first line of dialogue ever spoken by Misha Collins on the cult hit show “Supernatural,” now in its twelfth season. He’s GISHWHES’s creator and organizer.)
The other 12 members of the team join by video conference, via Google Hangouts, from their homes in Florida, Connecticut, Illinois, Hawaii, and Brazil.
Although this is the team’s third year in the hunt, most have never met in person. They’ve never been all in one place. That’s typical for teams in this hunt, which is very much a creation of the Internet.
Jason Sarten, an opera singer, reads off this year’s list, which includes items like:
Get dental work done while a string quartet plays live music in the room.
Enjoy some green eggs and ham (sunny-side up) on a boat with a goat.
Provide evidence of having helped at least 10 eligible United States citizens to register to vote.
Paint a portrait of a live model while both you and the model are scuba diving.
Get an Amazon senior executive to order a small item from you, in a timestamped email. Using a drone, deliver the item to the executive (who must be waiting outside the office building) in less than one hour.
Over 3,000 teams sign up to play GISHWHES each year, and there are nearly as many styles of running the hunt. On some teams, there’s nobody in charge. On others, there’s a captain who organizes but doesn’t actually perform any of the items. Flake-outs—people who say they’ll participate, but are no-shows when the hunt begins—are a common problem.
Team Raised from Perdition is run by a pair of co-captains, Nina Mostepan and Geoff McAnally, who also perform tasks. (In real life, Mostepan teaches at an Early Start program for the deaf and hard of hearing, and McAnally is an American sign language interpreter.)
The corn-husk gown
One reason Raised From Perdition starts off the week with a group pow-wow: To let the team members claim the items they’re good at.
For example, in Vancouver, Rob Fitz-James and Shiane Gailey live together and compete together. (He owns a tree stump-removal company; she’s a children’s entertainer.)
They have radically different skills. “We work well as a team because I’m outgoing and I’ll go and do stuff in person; she’s able to manage social media, uploading, and photo and video editing,” Rob says.
Shiane, fortunately for the team, is also wildly creative. After the hunt-launch meeting, she jumps on item 23: “Make this year’s must-have fashion statement: the Corn Husk Evening Wear!”
Rob persuades a local thrift shop to donate a Justin Bieber bedsheet. (“Thankfully, someone grew out of a horrible phase in their life,” he says.) Shiane duct-tapes corn husks to a hoop skirt—well, the front half, the part that would be visible in the photo. “Then we spray-painted it red and yellow to make flames, and then we went downtown,” she says. “I assembled that thing onto myself in a fancy part of time, and took the picture at the Convention Center. (We got permission, of course.)”
There were funny looks, she says, but she checked off item 23 as completed on the team’s master Google Sheets spreadsheet.
Corn Husk Evening Wear!
The space balloon
Meanwhile, in Connecticut, Tia is struggling with item 153: “Secure a legitimate contract with Space X, NASA, etc., to send a message into space, addressed to the universe and written by a child. You must submit evidence that your payload was successfully launched into orbit.”
It sounds impossible. Like NASA is going to carry a scavenger-hunt player’s note into space on short notice?
No wonder item 153 is worth more points (314) than anything else on the list.
Frantic, Tia Googles until she comes across a British company called SentIntoSpace.com. They sell near-space helium balloon kits to schools, hobbyists, marketers, and filmmakers, including everything they need to send small payloads into near space. Incredibly, the company responds to her email and agrees to donate a balloon to the cause.
The launch goes well; the landing, not so much. Upon its return from space, the balloon blows off course and becomes ensnared high in the treetops of a dense, mountainous forest.
Tia and her team of friends search until nightfall, following the signals of the satellite tracker in the payload box—but can’t find the thing. And without recovering the two GoPro cameras in its payload box, she won’t have the footage of space she needed.
And without that—no credit for item 153, and little chance of winning GISHWHES. Deeply discouraged, she returns home.
When things go wrong
Item 153 isn’t the only GISHWHES item that’s ever gone wrong. Almost every year, an item or two disappears from the list after the hunt is under way. That’s when GISHWHES mastermind Misha Collins realizes too late that he’s created a dangerous or foolhardy challenge.
“There have been people who have been arrested and court martialed and injured during the course of various GISHWHES over the years,” he says. “The second year, we had an item on the list that was, ‘Wrap yourself up in Christmas-tree lights. Plug them in and stand on the roof of a house.’
“And the very first day of the hunt, some of the submissions came in. And one of them was a photo of somebody standing on the peak of a three-story house, right at the edge, on the eave, completely entangled and ensnared in Christmas tree lights. And I immediately thought, ‘WHAT HAVE WE DONE?! There is no way that we can run this scavenger hunt and have somebody not perish from this item!’
“So I immediately sent out an e-mail saying, ‘Do not do the Christmas-tree lights on the roof item! Terrible idea.’
“And so that was sort of an ‘Aha!’ moment for me when I realized, ‘Oh, there are a lot of people who are doing whatever I say. I can’t just come up with whatever pops into my head and have them carry it out.”
The hunt is on
In 100 countries around the world, teams are sacrificing sleep, health, and me time as they scramble to knock off items on the list.
More or less simultaneously, they’re all discovering what Team Raised from Perdition has learned: that it’s very hard to get an item into orbit on short notice, that goats don’t much enjoy floating in boats, and that Amazon.com has no intention of permitting its executives to participate in item 161.
Join us for part 3 of this series, which dives into the charitable side of GISHWHES—and documents the biggest water-balloon battle ever staged.

Useful Tools For Becoming A Pro Vlogger
Vlogging has become more and more popular in recent years, and for good reason. Studies have shown that 85% of millennials have purchased a product after watching a promotional video, and major social media players like Instagram and Facebook have slowly been making videos a larger part of their platforms.
While vlogging (video blogging) still hasn’t completely taken over blogging as the main way that people consume information online, it’s still a very important aspect of content creation.
The best way to run an online business these days is to use a combination of blogging, vlogging and social media.
But, how do you get into vlogging? What tools are essential for the job and what kind of software should you be using to create your videos?
In this article, I’m going to break down the best tools that you can use to create your own vlogs online.
Choosing a Platform
While YouTube still owns the market share for vloggers due to its massive audience and easy monetization functionality, it’s running up against some competition in recent years.
Since the Adpocalypse of 2018, more and more vloggers are looking to alternatives for YouTube and when they make the switch, they’re often still making a good living on different platforms.
Instagram TV & Instagram Live
Since June 2018 when Instagram announced that they reached 1 billion users, vloggers, photographers and videographers have been flocking to the platform to create their own short videos and vlog-style content.
Instagram Live, IG TV, and Stories are three more ways that the platform allows its users to get creative while a wide variety of advertising options make this a viable option for professionals.
Facebook & Facebook Live
Facebook may not be the first platform that comes to mind when you’re thinking about vlogging, but with the platform moving more and more towards video, it’s no surprise that vloggers are making a go at it on Facebook.
With the massive audience that Facebook has, the ability to save live streams permanently and the functionality for premiering a new video on the platform, Facebook is becoming a vloggers paradise.
Twitch
While Twitch started out as a video streaming platform aimed at gamers, it’s started to take a new form in recent years. Because Twitch is mainly geared towards live video content, it makes it one of the best platforms for actually engaging with your followers.
The main issue that vloggers complain about with this platform is the limited advertising opportunities as it doesn’t have the same audience as some others listed in this post.
Tik Tok
This platform has been exploding recently and is the go-to for short videos. There are challenges, quick clips, funny vids and more.
YouTube
Still the grand-daddy of all the vlogging platforms, YouTube has seen the birth of vlogging superstars like Casey Neistat and even attracted (with some controversy) Hollywood A-listers like Will Smith.
Even though YouTubes highly regulated advertising algorithms make it easy to get demonetized, this is still the choice platform for most vloggers.
How Much Money Can a Vlogger Make?
According to Forbes, the highest-paid YouTubers in 2018 were pulling in more than $20 million.
That doesn’t mean that the minute you start a YouTube Channel you’ll start earning money from it. In fact, you need to reach 10,000 total views before you can monetize any of your videos.
On average, a YouTuber can make around $1 per 1,000 views. This means that if you have a lot of videos on your channel and you pull in over 100,000 views per month, you’ll only be making $100 per month.
To make money as a professional blogger, you’ll have to work hard and keep at it.
With recent restrictions on where ads are placed (not just on YouTube but on all platforms), it’s best to be as G-rated as possible if you want to avoid demonetization.
Keep in mind that revenue is based on actual video views, not subscribers.
There are some YouTubers out there who only have 10,000 subscribers, but still make $100,000 per year, while others have a hundred thousand and only make a fraction of that.
A Good Camera Kit
Not surprisingly, to make great videos you should have a good camera.
But, vlogs don’t typically go for that perfectly polished cinematic look. Rustic home filming is what made this type of content popular, so it’s important to keep a natural and authentic feel in your videos.
This means that you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars on a cinematic camera to make great vlogs. Huge YouTubers like Casey Neistat use the Canon EOS 70D which retails on Amazon for around $850 with a lens and just over $1,200 with the full “video creator kit” with a microphone.
Even these are a bit of a splurge for the average video creator, particularly if you’re going to be publishing videos on Instagram and Facebook as opposed to YouTube.
For the perfect balance between price, convenience and quality, there’s one camera that I recommend for vloggers over all others.
The Canon G7x Mark II
This is the camera that we’ve been using to create our videos for years. It has quick autofocus, a good range and does pretty good in low light.
There’s a flip around screen so that you can see yourself while filming and the touch display is easy to navigate and very intuitive.
The main con of this camera is that there’s no audio out, meaning you’ll have to make do with the built-in microphone.
There’s a little trick you can use to significantly improve the sound quality of the tiny built-in mic, but with that being the camera’s only major flaw, I’m hoping that when Canon comes out with the next model, they’ll rectify it.
Update 2020: we now vlog using the Sony RX100 Mark 7 and really like how it focuses on our faces. But, the background isn’t always in focus as well.
VIEW G7X MARK II ON AMAZON
DJI Mavic Air
These days, basically every video creator online has their own drone. And why not? They’re easy to learn to fly, they’re affordable and with recent improvements in technology, they’re incredibly compact and easy to travel with.
I currently have the DJI Spark, but I purchased it before the company came out with the much more professional and equally portable DJI Mavic Air. If you’re looking for a drone to travel with and make great quality videos, I’d go with the Air.
VIEW MAVIC AIR ON AMAZON
GoPro Hero 7 Black
I still think that this is the best action camera on the market and it should be in any video creators backpack. DJI recently came out with their own action camera that looks almost exactly like the GoPro.
It’s called the DJI Osmo Action and while it has a useful front-facing LCD screen for video creators, I’ve reviewed dozens of videos and read articles online and I still think that the GoPro has a higher dynamic range and can take better photos and videos than the Osmo Action.

A Fast Computer
Video editing takes up a significant amount of CPU and RAM so if you plan to be a vlogger who edits a lot of video, a fast computer should be your number one investment.
If you already have a PC or an older Mac (pre-2015), then you can upgrade the ram and hard drive to get more speed out of what you already have.
We’ve also written a post about how to upgrade a mac here.
Even though Macs don’t come without their problems, I still use a 2018 MacBook Pro for all of my video editing. But if you’re a PC user, there are good options for you as well.
MacBook Pro
If you’re a Final Cut Pro user, then you’ll probably want to have a Macbook. They’re slim, compact, durable and when you have an SSD hard drive and 16+ GB of RAM in them, they’re extremely fast.
VIEW MACBOOK PROS ON AMAZON
Lenovo ThinkPad
For PC users, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is probably your best bet. Users of this computer absolutely love the best-in-class keyboard, and the 8GB DDR4 RAM +16GB Intel Optane memory means that this computer is quick to edit.
VIEW LENOVO THINKPAD ON AMAZON
Proper Video Editing Software
50% of what makes a good video is the actual footage you take, and 50% is how well you edit the footage that you have. If you want to be a great video creator on YouTube, Facebook or on any platform, then you’ll want to ensure you have good editing software.
Not surprisingly, not all software is created equal, and depending on your editing abilities, not all software will be right for you.
I’ve probably gone through a half a dozen different types of video editing software over the years and it’s not easy to change between them and try to relearn the basics of each.
Video Editing Software For Beginners
When you’re first starting out, you don’t need all of the bells and whistles that come with some of the more advanced video editors out there. Sometimes less is more. This is the case with the Filmora Video Editor from iSkysoft.
Not only does Filmora come with cool and easy-to-use features right out of the box like colour enhancements, professional-looking titles and layovers, it also works on both PC and Mac, making it far more versatile than some other editing software out there.
If your goal is to make fun, high-quality videos quickly, then Filmora might be the perfect choice for you. If you’re currently using a free video editor like Windows Movie Maker, then this is an obvious upgrade.
It’s not expensive, it’s easy to learn and it’s very intuitive. Coming in at just $60 for a lifetime purchase, it’s nearly one-tenth the cost of many of its competitors.
Video Editing Software For Pros
While Filmora does have a lot of professional features like audio enhancements, picture-in-picture editing and green screen keyframing, there is some other software out there that is more geared towards the full-time professional.
Final Cut Pro
This software is only available for Mac and it’s the one I’ve used to edit most of our videos. Final Cut Pro has been around for years and it’s one of the most popular video editing software out there.
The main restricting factor for new vloggers is the price tag.
Final Cut Pro is going to cost you $300 or more, and there are a significant amount of add-ons that you may want to purchase down the road.
Adobe Premiere Pro
This is another expensive pro software, but this one isn’t at all geared towards the beginner. While Final Cut Pro and Filmora have plenty of templates and easy-to-use pre-built titles and overlays to choose from, most of what you’ll find in Premiere Pro has to be built from scratch.
While it’s one of the favourite software for professional video editors, it’s hard to learn and also comes with a hefty price tag.
In Conclusion
If you’re just starting out as a video creator, the goal should be to spend as little money as possible, while still creating great videos.
That’s why I don’t recommend purchasing a $1,200 camera, a $1,500 drone and $500+ of software, just to create videos on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram when you could probably create equally good videos for a fraction of the cost.
There’s always a balance between quality, convenience, and cost and you should take that into consideration when purchasing your equipment for video editing.
If you want to become a vlogger today, you can do so with an inexpensive laptop, a cheap GoPro camera and affordable software like Filmora. As you grow, you can upgrade where you feel you need it, but the key is to just get started.

DJI goes head-to-head with GoPro
DJI has launched its Osmo Action camera which looks set to compete directly with GoPro.
Described by DJI as a move in a “bold new direction”, the Chinese drone manufacturer says it has called on its experience with capturing smooth and stable videos via their market-leading drone range in development of the new product.
Similar to high-end GoPro offerings, the DJI Osmo Action camera features front and rear colour screens and state-of-the-art electronic image stabilisation.
It also comes with a camera frame kit which offers a universal mount for additional accessories and a window for the LED indicator to show camera status in real time while protecting the device.
Its adhesive mounts allow you to attach the Osmo Action to flat or curved surfaces including skateboards, bikes, helmets among others.
Additionally, it has a waterproof case, a 3.5mm adapter, an extension rod and a floating handle while its charging hub allows for three batteries to be simultaneously charged in less than 130 minutes.
DJI president, Roger Luo, said: “DJI has always pushed the limits of technology, and the content creators who love our products made clear they wanted us to push the limits of their creative potential too.”
He continued: “Osmo Action is our cutting-edge answer to what the creative community demands: Exceptional image quality and stabilization in a unique and durable new form factor, with dual color screens and seamless software integration. For all types of creators who push their gear to the limits, Osmo Action sets the new standard.”
Referencing drones, he added: “Whether you are capturing aerial content with Mavic 2, incredibly smooth content with Osmo Pocket, or heart-racing footage with Osmo Action, DJI offers a full suite of products for your creative needs.”
So how does the DJI Osmo Action measure up against the GoPro Hero 7 Black?

Cons
Many video capture & splicing features
Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus
Full wireless control and data transfer via app
Prices are still high, especially when you start buying lenses
No 4k options for this model
Memory cards required
Why We Like It: It’s no surprise that the Canon EOS 70D has remained the most popular YouTuber camera for a couple years now. In fact, Canon is a brand that we consistently find on our best of vlogging lists, which to a large degree answers what cameras famous Youtubers use to vlog.
It’s an immensely powerful camera with a full suite of video features, including pixel-based focusing. You can switch between modes like Video Snapshot (which takes short GIF-like videos and knits them together as needed), Movie Digital Zoom, and more. The built-in stereo mic comes with a wind filter to reduce noise and works nicely when first starting your vlogging adventure.
Plus, the camera is quite compact and durable for a DSLR, so carrying it around isn’t a problem. While the base model is still pretty expensive, there are a number of ways to customize this camera. You can buy the video creator kit with a full mic setup and versatile lens (recommended). If you want the latest model, you can even upgrade to the EOS 80D to take advantage of the latest features.

Pros
Cons
Very compact & affordable
HDMI output for immediate playback
Customizable manual controls
A lack of on-camera video features
Setting up video may take a little time
NFC tech only works with Android devices
Why We Like It: If the Canon 70D model was just too pricey for you, you’ll be pleased to know that many YouTubers also use this much more affordable PowerShot model. It’s a particularly attractive option for people who like dependable on the comfortable manual controls of the camera – controls which you can customize until you find the perfect fit.
However, manual controls aren’t always better – the manual movie mode, for example, let’s you adjust Av, Tv, and ISO speed, while also picking out focal points on the LCD screen…which is great, but maybe a lot of work for beginners who just what to get started. The connectivity options, including NFC and one-touch Wi-fi connections, are also an excellent addition, but they are only designed to work with Android devices, which may limit your plans a little.

Pros
Cons
64GB of internal storage space
Powerful optical image stabilization for smooth video capture
Great touchscreen video adjustment controls
No photo capabilities
Bulkier than a camera
Slow charging time
Why We Like It: The XA10 is an excellent camcorder, with everything you could want for capturing high-quality video and making any adjustments to focus, aspect ratio, composition, and exposure that you may need. Not to mention the excellent optical image stabilization, built-in room for high-end microphones, plentiful onboard storage space, and lots of other features you might need.
But you pay a price for all these features and not just the particularly high price tag. The camcorder is bulkier than a camera, takes more time to master, and may not be suited for all vloggers. Take note of your vlogging goals before deciding!

Cons

Focus options for video (albeit manual)

The compact camera also has a nice LED review screen for selfies and similar self-recording, while the hybrid autofocus helps ensure that videos stay smooth.
Also, note the underwater kit option!Otherwise, this is a fairly simple camera option, without the customization and long list of modes that other models may offer. It fits in well with the compact, let’s-get-started nature of the camera.

Why We Like It: A lot of YouTubers continue to use GoPros, and this is one of the most popular models with its excellent 4k video, plentiful video options, and the ability to endure pretty much any weather. However, it’s also a niche camera model, for obvious reasons, that is not under 300.
If you prefer to post up at home for artistic projects or cosmetics, then a GoPro isn’t going to do much for you. This camera is for vlogs that focus on action, sports, and outdoor adventures. YouTube Vlogging Camera Buying Guide
Why do YouTubers prefer these cameras? Let’s talk about a few of the specific features that make these models so attractive top vloggers.
1
Video Resolution More frequently, we are seeing vloggers use 4k video, which is supported by YouTube. It’s a great way to stay ahead of the pack, although you can expect the majority of YouTubers to switch to 4k-friendly cameras soon, probably within the next year or so. It’s a massive video quality upgrade, and one of the most important features today.
2
Image stabilization
If you plan on moving your camera at all when capturing video (a good idea, as static images have trouble keeping people’s interest)), then image stabilization is key. This software will keep the image from shaking or blurring, which is probably the last thing that you want.
3
Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth:
Connectivity is very important for the vlogging cameras used by top YouTubers. Video clips and images can be quickly transferred to other devices for editing using either Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Bluetooth is typically used if vloggers have a nearby device, like an iPad, where they can quickly review and publish the video. Wi-Fi is used if it’s easier to store the video in the cloud or send it via app for later, in-depth management.
4
SD Cards
Cameras may or may not come with their own SD cards, but they should definitely be compatible with these storage devices. A 32GB SD card is fairly affordable, and an important necessity when capturing data-hungry video. In fact, if you can go up to 64 or 128GBs, then it’s a good idea, especially with ultra HD video footage. A single vlog can require lengthy shoots, and it’s good to have physical media to quickly store and transfer that video.
Top Questions About Vlogging Cameras That YouTuber’s Use
answers
Why don’t top YouTuber’s Use Webcams?
Chances are good that at least one of your favorite YouTube streamers uses a webcam for some of their streaming…which raises the question, why can’t you? After all, a webcam is easy to use, free, and already connected to your computer! However, webcams also have many drawbacks and aren’t really suitable for serious vlogging. Most YouTubers who depend on webcams have another core offering for viewers – they are sharing their screen, or telling great jokes, or giving minor updates on more interesting activities, and so on. Read Next: Cheapest Vlogging Cameras to Get Started – http://www.gadgetreview.com/best-cheap-vlogging-camera-youtube But many vlogs really do require dedicated cameras, because they don’t happen in front of a computer. Unless you are streaming a game or working a computer instruction video, your webcam is rarely enough. You need a camera that you can take with you – a camera that includes high-quality audio and features that help guarantee a sharp, focused image.
Camera vs Camcorder
You may notice that some YouTubers, particularly the top vloggers, such as PewDiePie, also have a camcorder as well as a camera (we even included one of the most popular models – the Canon XA10 Camcorder). So, when upgrading your equipment, should you invest in a camcorder, or stick with a camera that has strong video functions? Camcorders tend to be more expensive (the above model is $1200+), harder to travel with, and more complicated to use than a point and shoot or DSLR camera, which is why many vloggers don’t really bother with them. However, they also have their own advantages. The top camcorders can take very high-quality video, make it easier to plan out complex shoots, and they excel at capturing video on the move. While they are larger, their viewing screens and recording scope also tend to be larger, making it easier to monitor your video and take movie-like shots. As a general rule, if you are moving around a lot in your vlogging videos, then you may want to consider a camcorder. Cameras can take on-the-go video, and some are very good at it, but camcorders just tend to be better overall. That said, if your vlogging tends to be still, focused on one place or subject, you don’t really need a camcorder. If your specialty is wandering around or exploring locations, then a camcorder may be of great benefit.
Why do these Youtuber’s have multiple cameras?
If you take a look at the studies on what cameras YouTubers use, they typically have two or three different cameras listed. If you really want to imitate the pros, you may be wondering why that is – and if you need to buy two cameras as well. When first starting your blogging project, you really only need one camera (especially if it’s a good camera). In fact, you may not see the need to get an additional camera for years, if at all. But here are the reasons that many YouTubers find an extra camera to be useful or necessary during their work. Some cameras travel better than others: YouTubers who travel a lot – particularly air travel or other situations where luggage is limited – often have a more compact camera that they can take with them. These vloggers may use an advanced DSLR with a large lens kit at home, but switch to a compact model with fewer accessories when they are traveling. Photos vs. video: Professionals still like to take photos for various branding and content projects. In this case, some of them prefer to use one camera for video and one camera for photos, each with their own benefits – and their own storage, which is always handy. Multi-direction video: Vloggers very invested in a particular recording may set up two different cameras to record video from two different directions. This allows them to switch angles when editing the footage, or have a close-up recording and a far-away recording to move between for the benefit of their viewers. Durability: Not all cameras are made to be used in the dust, rain, or heat. Having a secondary camera with better proofing against the elements is very handy for many top YouTubers.Sponsorship: Brands pay to have YouTubers use their cameras. Sometimes, it’s just that simple.
