Mystery book part 3

This is the part 3 of the mystery book series. A series that follows Red Mist's members trying to find a book that went missing from their private library. The post is based on rp session held in Ishgard, Moogle.

"Do you have any clues where they went?" Dahra asked. She was not waiting for a reply but more or less trying to keep calm. After Eiko had left the building she and Sebastian had been standing in the tavern of Red Mist for quite some time, in silence.

"Maybe we could look for the book just two of us. I am sure what ever they are doing is more imp-"

And then, giant tavern doors swing open and smiling figure of Eiko was beaming front of them.

"Well darlings, don't just stand there. Look alive!" familiar voice chimmed.

Dahra was lost of words on this sudden entrance, and it was Sebastian that said: "We were waiting for you, right?" He nodded to Dahra and she nodded back, unknowingly part taking in lying. Or was it a lie, if they really were just confused.

"You don't need to wait no longer, my dearest. And here, I present you, a magnificent work of mine, glasses, my ear friend Sebastian."

Sebastian took a look and shook his head. "I don't need no glasses."

"Are you sure, absolutely positive. I have seen you struggle and no employee of mine is going to suffer from such a easy fix. Here, take them." Eiko gave the glasses to Sebastian, who in turn took the glasses and turn to Dahra. Dahra sighted. "You do need them."

She then followed Eiko outside, and heard heavy footsteps behind her. Sebastian muttered words she didn't hear, and was grateful of that.

"I don't need - " Sebastian fell in silence and both Eiko and Dahra turned to look at him.

"Is everything okay?" Dahra asked. Maybe they werre fragile and Sebastian had cut himself on them, maybe there was sharp edges. All the wild possibilities how Sebastian could have hurt himself ran through Dahra's mind. So it was a bit of a relief t to see Sebastian just turning his head around and looking around in awe.

"Why is everything so sharp looking?"

"What do you mean, dear friend?" Eiko smiled happily.

"Like, all so clear, is this... how it is?" Sebastian calmed down after a while and turned to Dahra. "I didn't see this."

A small almost chuckle escaped Dahra, but she managed to keep her wits. But she was glad. And even more when she noticed Sebastian still looking at her, like he saw her first time.

"Well now now, you are going to find the book in no time, my old friend." Eiko smiled. Sebastian and Dahra both took one side of the building to check for the windows and all cracks that one would use to escape the house and not use a front door.

Eiko had a lovely tea with their fathers while Sebastian and Dahra were going over the plot and looking under all the windows for marks of bulgary.

"It's here!" Sebastian picked up a piece of paper that seemed like it was ripped from a book. Dahra eventually caught up with him and confirmed that it was a loose page of the missing book.

"So it seems they went possibly here", Dahra said. They looked around and saw the stands that none of them really minded too much, before at least.

"I'm sure it was this girl", Sebastian yelled and started to loudly question the lady in the first stand. She told she was only a trade seller, but Sebastian didn't have any of it. So he ended up trying to spook her into telling the truth. That she was infact the culprit who stole the book. Now that he saw everything clearly, it was - well - clear.

"It's no use Sebastian, she doesn't know anything." Both Dahra and Eiko tried to calm Sebastian down, and Dahra had been asking around in the stands and finally when she had a time to said, she said: "Not her, but her co-worker here saw someone ran with what looked like a book or some other heavy object towards the gates."

"That gate leads to Brume. How fitting. How exacting."

Eiko made them do a small turn to his office to change more appropriate clothing for such a dangerous trip. Dahra and Sebastian sat around the office drinking tea while they waited Eiko.

"So off to Brume we go. Pay close mind of your gil purses and belongings, I heard there is possibility to be parted of them in Brume."

And then they were on their way.

They landed Ishgard near the central crystal and wondered how they could approach the situation.

"So, should we just go there again and ask from locals."

"Would they even tell." Dahra said. She didn't know Ishgard at all. She had a busy time after she got to Red Mist, first just as a secretary for Eiko and then training Wiki's new bodyguard. The training journeys had led them all the way to Azim Steppe. And before Red Mist, she had only been in Limsa Lominsa, first taking care of her mother and then working in arcanist guild as a clerk doing customs and keeping logs.

She noted that she should make a trip to Ishgard to get to know the place.

"I supposed no. But Forgotten Knight could have some leads."

And yes, The Forgotten Knight, famous amongst Ishgardians from the Pillars and Brume alike did have more than just leads. They heard a rumor that in Brume there was a black market for goods forbidden by teachings of Holy See, and eventhough the Dragonsong war and end of thousand year conflict between Ishgradian and Dravanians was over, it was still going on and growing, taking shape and model from illegeal black markets of other citystates, mostly Limsa Lominsa, for some reason.

"If we could just get to the black market so we could ask around a book about Voidsents there."

"We could ask them, then?" Sebastian said.

"But how, is not like anyone is going to answer as if they know about the Black market?"

"We leave a note?" Sebastian said.

"Note? Note!? To the Black Market, that's- " Eiko started to almost yell, but paused and clapped their hands together. "That's brilliant!"

"Leaving a note?"

"Yes! I have heard that in some taverns in Limsa Lominsa they do leave coded messages to keepers and barmaids, or notes that are ment for likeminded individuals, if they know how to ask."

"How do you know that is true?"

"Ahem... a friend of mine.. lets leave it to that."

"So a note? That I can do."

So while Sebastian and Eiko got down to a friendly, and very one sided triple triad game that Eiko kept winning, Dahra tried to pen a note stating that individuals passing by Ishgard were interested in buying rare and dangerous books, gil was no issue. And to contact them, she decided a meeting point in Ishgard.

And they left the note to the barkeeper after sealing it, trying them best to give the idea that the note was for more delicate matter and was only to be given for someone who had more delicate taste of books than Holy See cared for.

And after that, the line had been cast and diced rolled and fate was slowly creeping at them.
