Brighten up your day with Bodysync (the electronic duo project of Ryan Hemsworth and Giraffage) and Dazy (Richmond, VA-based indie rocker James Goodson) newest collaboration "Back Of My Mind." This exuberant track spans just about 2.5 minutes long but its pulse will have you walking with an extra pep in your step. At first glance, it seems like an unlikely pairing with each respective artists' typical sound but "Back Of My Mind" captures the beauty of collaboration. Bodysync and Dazy come together to bring a serotonin-boosting single that melds dance-y drum machine rhythms and with a tint of hazy indie rock bliss. It's the perfect sun-soaked track to welcome spring.

What is the definition of the modern electronica? I'm unsure what to say here. For instance, how can you define Giraffage? Well, you can tell he and Odesza have something similar, yet they substantially differ from each other in other regrads. Still, they paradoxically belong together, one might even support another, though you cannot claim they have the same genre. Nonetheless, I would propose we call them the all-consuming electronica, since they take their influences from everywhere. I mean, the tune on the link sounds like a big budget rework of a vaporwave chestnut, though the timeline might be a bit wonky here, since the album the song is on was released before the idiom I mentioned became prominent, though who knows – Mr. Yin was probably familiar with that?

i have been paid a substantial sum of money to review C418's remix of the song "The Sea" by Floex and im gonna do it

a while ago i watched a video on composing by a musician named Andrew Huang, who said that once you've succeeded in turning loops/ideas into songs, you'll find it just as important to focus on introducing little meaningful bits of idiosyncrasy as it is to build a coherent structure/flow/whatever, and i think this remix is a great example of what Andrew means - the overarching structure of the song follows a wave of gradually relaxing before increasing intensity (altho there's a really beautiful and surprising shift and some SQUISHY, SOPPING WET synth bloops around 3:15) but what causes me to rly bliss out here is that every second of music is packed with bleeps and crackles and is-that-a-voice-or-synth moments you can dig your brain's teeth into (lol). Machinarium came out around 2010 at a really interesting moment for electronic music, where ableton/fruityloops torrents had democratized crystal clear synthetic musicianship, and the result was an explosion of bedroom producers like Giraffage and Mister Lies and, frankly, Owl City creating very beautiful textures with perfect fidelity and fresh sounds but very different levels of compositional talent. the version of "The Sea" on Machinarium's soundtrack is lovely and ambient, but C418 is like a supergenius at turning ultra-simple noises and chord shifts into rich and memorable songs, and the remixed version has a more compelling progression from start to finish because of this.... much more to say but this pretty much exhausts my knowledge of the subject.
