Scorpion – Dark Filipino Ginunting with Sheath
Ginuntings are the official swords of the Philippine Marines. Filipino warriors chose them because they could cut through anything and everything! The Ginunting is easier to use as a utility tool, as jungle bolos for clearing brush, slaughter tools for hunting, chopping small pieces of wood for fire, making it the best weapon to carry. It is common to see a Ginunting along with M16s used for war in the jungles of the Philippines. This short and versatile weapon designed with a downward curving blade makes it the perfect weapon for close encounters. Our heat treated full tang handmade Dark Filipino Ginunting is extremely durable and virtually indestructible.
The blade is crafted from 1095 high carbon steel which has been expertly tempered to a 57 HRc hardness and finished with a darkened blued finish. It is made as robustly as is possible with its blade and tang being made from a single solid piece and is finished with black linen micarta composite grip scales which are solidly riveted directly to the tough blade tang. Included is a leather sheath to complete the sword.

Drow Smallsword and Rapier, using modern-style pistol grips The smallsword has a triangular cross section, while the rapier has a T-shaped spine like a pesh-kabz. The forward-curved blade on the rapier is not the optimal design for thrusting, but is a stylistic and cultural holdover from my elves using forwards-curved shortswords like the Ginunting.

Lakas Filipino Martial Arts Podcast Episode 21: Grand Tuhon Leo T. Gaje, Jr. – The Discipline
I first met Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje at the Inosanto Academy in Marina del Rey almost 16 years ago. It was the Fall of 2003 and he came in to visit with Guro Dan. I was sitting close to the main entrance after Silat class, as back then you had to be promoted into the evening Kali class that Guro taught. I had only been a student at the Academy for a few weeks and still constantly star struck at…

Sunder the world with your sins.
A storm upends the supposedly uneventful bride-gifting: the Spider Lily is visited by her demon-witch mother, and for the first time after being released from her perpetual seclusion, experiences the truth of the world’s violence:
Rejoice in the glory of combat.
Witness now: the Spider Lily of the Azure Flame, the Shining Lightning of the Dragon Guard, her demon-sorceress servant, the Greatest Warrior in the Isles, and the Half-Female Lord, as they trawl and trudge and strive and survive in the Isles of Violence, knowing the one truth fulminating from their souls:
The hero must die.
PRINCESS MURDERS THE HERO is a free web serial, sung by Love-in-Fulmination (Gugmamibuto) inspired by Philippine Folk Epics and wuxia, featuring larger than life mortals that must prove their conviction, slick fight scenes, complicated relationships, and a violent world inspired by Precolonial Philippine culture and religion.
Read if you liked Raya and the Last Dragon, The Raid, Jin Yong’s Legend of the Condor Heroes, RF Kuang’s The Poppy War or Kill Six Billion Demons.
More info below the cut!
🩸Set in GUBAT BANWA!
BAKONG HAN MUYANG KALAYO, Spider Lily of the Azure Flame, is the veiled maiden shipped off to Jambangan, Capital of the Akai Sultanate, to consolidate bonds between it and the Rajahnate. She's born with a demon arm and her mother is yawa: Goddess of the White River.
She's binukot, which means she was secluded all her life until she was shipped in a supposed secret mission to bring her to Jambangan. That all changes at the start of the book, because what are novels but records of mistakes?
She doesn't know she's gay yet
MASUNA KULISAT, Shining Lightning, of the Royal Guard of Kangdaya (poetically, the Dragon Guard). He is intensely connected to the spirits, and works as a half-priestess. Swordgender. His soul has been whetted into a brittle killing blade.
He works as a royal guard because he cannot face the truth--yet--of his killing edge. He does not know himself yet.
To refuse yourself is to rust.
He loves Bakong, and he admits this completely,
but servants have to love their masters.
BANGAHOM, the Prayer Jar, Demon-Sorcerer servant of Bakong, the gift of the Goddess of the White River. They start off as a little ball of chaos, as all yawa are, but then weave a feminine form as Jambangan does not look kindly at yawa, blotches of sin on their Divine Striving.
They/She's power cannot be dismissed. Of course not: witchcraft is ever present in the Isles. However, she must learn the ways of mortals, why mortals are mortals, why mortals are not--cannot--be perfectly rational entities.
SAMPUNG BAHA, The Flood Stopper, shortened as SAM'BAHA, made by Dylan and I, is a fierce warrior, descendant of Sripulapula, slayer of the invader Pale King Fernaw, who threatened to colonize the Isles.
She is peerless. She is the Greatest Warrior in the Sword Isles.
Her goal? To Raid The World: to travel to the far western pillar and annihilate, obliterate, every Pale King in existence, as an expression of love for her bloodline, for her people. What is love but evisceration? But in her evisceration she becomes vulnerable, yearning.
DATU BATUMINGAW, Peerless Sword of Put'wan, the Lonely Stone, whose name skips quietly upon the cold lake. He was born a man because his mother mandated it to, because only men can become rulers in the isles.
He gave herself the name KAWILANKAYU, Queen Flower Aflame, when she resolved to be like the Elephant Queen Urduja, of vast Sword Isle fame, who became a ruler, became a true Half-Female Lord, Ardhanarishvara, transcending man and woman. He/she is still a stone, however, and a stone cannot rule unless the gems are mined out of it.
If you like weird, non-Western Fantasy, big ideas, Southeast Asian Philosophy, Wuxia, and brutal kinetic fights, consider reading! Thank you!

long post accumulating random weapon images its a ton of images
little shortspear thing
lochaber axe. i really like this style of construction theoretically and aesthetically so i dont like, ‘get’ why it’s so uncommon.
neat little very aggressive tomahawks/axes.
cute!
i cant read this but the one on the left is really nice looking
little iron/copper age style axe. on some otzi shit. etc.
i love this style of mounting! from the Met arms & armor.
maori style club axe thing in jade and a steel version. love these little guys
love these. you get something that really comes off as like. agricultural, utility, definitely also fills some ability to do combat with it but it’s just really fun as a tall multipurpose blade design. it’s sorta evocative of a cane knife or a billhook, or maybe a small hatchet for lighter woody plants as well, but obviously you could also see that concave edge and the style of handling here resulting in something that will be very easy for anyone to use and to land very decisive strikes on any limb with.
just a nice falcata innit
oh fun little type of polearm.
lol it’s like. i mean im sure there’s an actual name for it and stuff. but it’s like a talwar kukri.
i dunno i mean it’s just like, fun conceptually. but i cant imagine this is really the most ergonomic way to design it
so fucking insanely swaggy. what do you even say about this. god
i love the circle one. so swaggy.
lightning bolt lol.
knifegun lol.
so fucking sick. although like. whys it only got two fingerholes.
love these blade shapes. god. so swaggy.
fun blade shape, fun pommel, fun crossguard
woah. neat.
love it. really good looking. just a really good looking sword.
haha okay so yeah you see it right?
lol. kinda cool though.
stylish!
......yeah. thats pretty fucking sick.
neat! kinda like, bolo-ish.
this is a really fun like. fusion. of things
its the tongue!!!!!!
i like the handles here even though finger rings are honestly pretty stupid.
harpoon butterfly knife lol
the kujang makes a return baby!
this is mostly included just because the person listed it as a fantasy sword. my friend that is a cane knife. it is an agricultural knife.
lil messy filework but oh man what a neat blade shape. fun
modern jambiya.
cute lil thing. feel like the handle is a bit long and the blade would be a bit more useful with like, a good heel section
wh. how. . what’s the . whats the concept here
kind of a ginunting. reblog.
some real bronze age shit.
god i love a good falcata.

4 martial arts?!!! fight with swords, knives, staffs and daggers???!!! what are you a video game protagonist???!!
Hello Anon!!
As far as I know, no. If life does turn out to be a simulation, then I guess my stats have been pretty maxed out, hehe!
My ideology is that you only really get one life, so you should do as much as you can in that time. Martial arts are one of the types of exercise I really enjoy, since I don't really enjoy stuff like swimming or skating. It helps me relax, and it's my main form of exercising!
Also, I look pretty cool with a sword, hehe.
My favorite sword is a Filipino blade called the ginunting! It looks something like this:
I'm planning on maybe starting an IF that incorporates Filipino and Arab culture and fighting styles in a magic-themed world.
I hope you're having a good day, Anon!! Thanks for the interest, sdffhuihuihdfsisfd
