my reaction to the new announced Ginga series. Oh yeah did I mentioned they fucking announced a new Ginga series today

Sigh let's hope this pleasantly surprises me more than TLW or GDN but I don't have a lot of faith at this point. I just hope they mean it this time that this is the last of the Ginga saga. Because I'm tired and I'm sure Yoshi is too

I drew Hiro and Reika last time so as promised I drew their kids next

For the record yes I know that the names "Akahime" and "Shirojiro" were actually typos in one early panel of GDN when Reika called her deceased kids by those names, and that Kota and Jiromaru are their proper names after they were corrected in later volumes.

HOWEVER, I still prefer to keep their original incorrect names for two reasons 1) Kota and Jiromaru are already names that Ginga has used before, with Kota being a temporary fake name Teru went by in the GDW manga and Jiromaru being the name of Weed's nephew in Ginga Densetsu Anju To Jiromaru. Names are already constantly reused in the Ginga manga, I didn't wanna get repetitive 2) since the name Akahime means "red princess" it gives me an excuse to make at least one of Hiro and Reika's kids female to even out the all-male ratio

And of course in MY AU Hiro and all four of his kids survive, once again reiterating how little I care about TLW or GDN's canon

I stopped reading towards the end of Noah, and also everyone else on the covers looks like they want to sleep peacefully in that long night. poor rocket his face, oh his face, and kyoshiro. it's hard to say but it's kind of like dog version of kardashian plastic surgery, their skin seems so tight oddly compared to earlier manga. regardless, i'm still going to be logging into the board more often to keep up with scans and discussion

My Hiro & Reika family tree as part of my Ginga AU. They USED to be a part of my bear hound family tree (don't ask me to share that on Tumblr, it constantly changes) because I shipped Akahime/Kota with Bellatrix. Recently I decided to drop that ship for reasons... so here's the Hiro/Reika family tree by itself.

Black text denotes a canon character, red text denotes an OC.

Some notes:

Spindle is a character from the short story "Mel's Journey" from the Weed Gaiden manga. His breed is unconfirmed but since he looks like a Great Pyrenees I headcanon him as Hiro's uncle

Ref is from Namonaki Inu No Uta, a short story about John and Hidetoshi's visit to Africa. He later has a brief reunion with John in the GNG final battle before he's killed by Akakabuto's minion. Since in the GDW manga Reika mentions her father died in the battle against Akakabuto I'm headcanoning Ref was Reika's father

YES I know that the names "Akahime" and "Shirojiro" mentioned in GDN were errors and their names were later corrected as Kota and Jiromaru respectively. I'm sticking with the original names though because 1) Kota and Jiromaru have been names used in Ginga already which would be boring and repetitive (even as silly of a name as Shirojiro is) 2) Akahime means "red princess" which gives me an even bigger excuse to make the character female in my AU

I gave Hiro and Reika a second litter, just because I can. Also fun fact the names Shou and Ami are taken from an old fandom misconception that those were thought to be the names of two of Hiro and Reika's pups. It wasn't, they later revealed to be Kota and Jiromaru

Full disclosure I am largely unfamiliar with specifics as well as I need to track down/find an appropriate time to reread/watch the Ginga Series proper which is a bit of a pain past certain arcs in GDW
