#Gilda goes on a tangent

What’s interesting about their fangs too is that it’s the actual enamel of the teeth growing and sharpening, rather than already sharp teeth dropping lower from the gums to lengthen them. In Lestat, the change seems almost subtle (which is kinda hilarious since in all other ways he’s the least subtle guy ever), while in Louis, the change is very dramatic. His fangs appear much longer and, at least in the clip above, appear to curve slightly backward- if Lestat’s fangs can be compared to a cat, Louis’ are almost snake-like. Claudia’s are very similar to Lestat’s in terms of shape, again highlighting their similarities. Now, some people might go “Why would Louis have snake-like fangs? Snakes/reptiles in general are known for being unemotional and Louis is super emotional.”
Hear me out- giving Louis snake-like fangs actually makes a lot of sense. For one, it firmly connects him to New Orleans, Louisiana, his hometown. Google Louisiana snakes and, wow, there are a lot. His imagery is also deeply connected to nature (greens, browns, earth tones). That’s not to say he’s always in those colours, but when he veers from them it stands out (for instance, Louis’ red suits are worn when he’s trying to immerse himself in human affairs, he’s not being entirely himself. Similarly, his all black outfits in Dubai sharply contrast with his past/own aesthetic, instead seeming borrowed from Armand). Louis is often shown most comfortable surrounded by nature- he opens up to Claudia while rowing a boat for her on the Bayou, he lets down his guard for Jonah on a walk through the forest, he goes to parks or trees when he’s feeling overwhelmed/in need of comfort.
Now, I know what you’re thinking “But personality wise!?! Louis’s so sensitive and reptiles-” Sshh. Maybe it’s the proud mother-of-two-pet-geckos in me, but reptiles get a bad rap as far as the emotional thing goes. They aren’t showy in their affections the way mammals like cats are (ahem remember our cat-like friends Lestat and Claudia? Demanding of attention, easily made jealous of each other, quick to scratch and hiss, trying to be aloof but wanting to be constantly close and touched by their favourite person *Louis*), but instead show affection by letting their guard down and allowing people close. On the opposite end, reptiles are slow to anger, but once pushed too far, the result is devastating. Think of how Louis lets people like Fenwick walk all over him, keeping his cool, until he finally snaps and just demolishes the guy. That’s a rattlesnake strike, a crocodile death-roll, that’s a ripping off a guy’s jaw like he’s opening an envelope because he’s hungry and overwhelmed.
With all this in mind, I’m very, very, very curious to see Armand’s fangs. Personally, I hope they go snake fangs with him, because I think that somewhat reptilian personality suits Armand like it does Louis, possibly even more so. In a way, I think that’s at least partly why they connect so easily. Then again, I could also see them trying a completely different style of fang for him or even multiple fangs (as in more than just the canines are sharp). We’ll have to wait and see.
do you like film fangs or show fangs more?
From sheer visuals I like the movie fangs better.
However, I do get why they went a different way here, Brad Pitt really didn’t manage to speak with them too well imho. I believe Rolin mentioned that being a factor and why they’re not longer, too.
And the dropping of fangs is also something extremely… captivating, as it means so much for them.
It’s the dropping of a facade, allowing the hunter to come out, the beast, and it goes extremely well with the dilating pupils. I love how they did it tbh.
I also love that their fangs are different for the characters…
Lestat of course looks almost feral, somewhat cat-like… Louis‘ fangs are a stark contrast imo, indicative of him letting go…
…. while Claudia’s are almost cute.
Well. Almost.😅
I cannot wait to see Armand’s tbh 😈 And Fareed‘s, and Daniel‘s (later) and and and 😅

And here we have Ursa and Mabon Pines, the genderswapped versions of Dipper and Mabel! Just like Gilda and Pacifico, their adventures can be read in "Cipher Sisters I".
Mabon's name sounds like "Mason" but with a B, for the record.
Ursa is a distracted dreamer introvert with big dreams of being famous for a show focused on discovering the supernatural and solving mysteries. She cares deeply for her twin and is willing to put up with social events for him and is not so quick to forgive as he is.
Mabon is a social-butterfly extrovert that is usually pretty easygoing, until someone threatens his sister's health and happiness. The ultimate wingman, he will eagerly manipulate the social circle to get Ursa some time alone with her crush. He also tries to help her avoid social embarrassment by giving her little nudges whenever she goes off on a "nerdy tangent".
Go read "Cipher Sisters I" on AO3 to see them in action!

Odds for Gildas!
What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sitstill with nothing to do?
Not very long, he’s an anxious individual and he likes tohave something going to keep him distracted. He fidgets a lot.
How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)
He reads a fair amount, most of the time its his books ongnomish, since he’s still trying to learn, but he carries around like a goodtwenty books, so he’s got options.
How easy is it to earn their mistrust?
Fairly easy, however other than keeping things to himselfmore, its not something he’s going to do much about. Social conflict is aterrifying notion.
What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoythat feeling?
He would have had to have some good memories in his past tobe nostalgic about, and to be honest his childhood was horrific.
Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?
He very occasionally swears, and no he does not. Although itprobably wasn’t until he joined civilisation and overheard someone using it.
How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretendthey understand, etc)?
Gildas usually tries to find a book on the subject, and ifall else fails there’s a couple of professors at the scribes he feels lessawkward about asking questions too.
What colour do they think they look best in? Do theyactually look best in that colour?
I’d say Gildas doesn’t have much of an opinion of whatcolour he looks best in, he’s pretty sure he doesn’t look good in any colour, and generally prefers muted colours because he doesn’t like attention.
How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of onthe spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first?
He doesn’t speak very often, but when with someone he’sfairly comfortable with, or when forced, Gildas speaks very poorly, long sentences, meandering trails of thought, sudden tangents. And if he’s been forced intothis social situation he’s usually getting more and more nervous as he goes on.
The only time he’s not having trouble with his words is whenhe’s correcting someone else’s, but that doesn’t make it any better.
Are they easily embarrassed?
Yes.
What is their favourite number?
2
Why do they get up in the morning?
Easily, Gildas is a morning person.
How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what theywant, they become resentful, etc)?
It generally drives him to do better, I mean he becomesresentful and angry as well. But he has a very I will prove you wrong type attitude,so seeing something he wants to attain usually just pushes him to try and getit.
What are their thoughts on marriage?
Gildas hasn’t put any thought into it. He knows it’ssomething that folks do, but he doesn’t really get the why.
What causes them to feel dread?
His mother. When things happen that he has no control or sayin. When people give him responsibility or think he knows all the answers.
Do they usually live up to their own ideals?
I think he has. His ideals are to progress and learn, and he’sdefinitely achieved that, even if he sometimes becomes frustrated at theanswers.
Who are they the most glad to have met?
Edric Cabello. Though that wizard has also caused him themost heart ache.
“You are the kindest person I know. You speak out forpeople, despite how long it takes you. You are patient, and smart, and humble. And you put up with my general… well you put up with me, despite everything.”– Glidas in one of his Edric letters, which are more like a journal thananything else, and a way to deal with the looming prophesy of Edric’s demise.
Could they be considered lazy?
No, he tries to hard to learn new things. I’d say he getsdistracted by new things sometimes rather than focus properly on one thing, butthat’s an issue with his curiosity rather than laziness.
How do they treat the things their friends come tothem excited about? Are they supportive?
I think he would be, he certainly get’s enthused whenRowland tells him about his latest project. If its something crime related though,Gildas doesn’t want to know, it will inevitably go bad.
Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists ofnumbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, puttingthings to melodies, etc)?
Just a very jumbled book of notes, and folded corners inbooks etc.
How easy is it for them to ignore flaws in otherpeople?
Fairly easily, he’s aware he’s a terrible person, so he can’treally judge others for being the same. He also sees hope for himself interrible people doing better, and they can’t if he doesn’t give them a secondchance.
How do they feel about children?
He would rather stay far away from children. Gildas would beworried he’d hurt them, and he’d never want to do that.
If someone asked them to explain their sexuality, how would they doso?
He would have to have a keen enoughgrasp of the idea to explain it, which he doesn’t.

#hate hate hate this poll because they are all wonderful? like how could I choose? #anyway my vote was going out for Don Gilda and Ayshe of course #mostly because I love Ayshe #but also because this Trio got so much potential #Don and Gilda should have given Norman way more shit for all the stuff he did to a lot of them #I know Gilda and Don would never confront Norman with this #but Ayshe would when being around and it could lead to glorious conversations (via @officersnickers)
Copypasta'ing from this post but having Ayshe be involved in how Don and Gilda sort through any lingering feelings regarding Norman's actions is very interesting. It's a bit specific with me in that I don't think she'd do this until he approached her regarding her dad's murder. Without that, I don't know if she'd consider him worthy of wasting that kind of energy on until he's shown he cares enough to work on repairing things for the sake of others instead of easing his own guilt, holding him to that commitment even in the face of scrutiny. If he didn't care, she could feel free to hate him to her heart's content without any guilt of her own.
#surprisingly I'm not that into Yuugo Lucas and Dina since we didn't get THAT much. sadly
If you told me Dina's inclusion was prompted by Sugita or another higher-up as an afterthought so people didn't think Yuugo was gay or a pedo after living alone for thirteen years with absolutely zero contact with another living being he could have a conversation with, I wouldn't be very surprised given the contention over things like Emma being a female shounen protagonist.
Even in the third light novel she ended up being featured less than I thought she would, which is a shame because like with multiple things in TPN, the potential is there.
#another fave: James Smee and their stupidity building a shelter for cattle children right next to Bayon's house #like what?
You: *makes a silly offhand comment* Me: *goes off on a mini tangent in another post*
#also if the Dina inclusion dealie is true it's great with how much people ended up running with bi king Yuugo dljfs#FSS Chatter#FSS Polls#TPN Polls#Wolf Pack Trio#Ayshe#Norman#Dina#Yuugo#TPN Light Novels#Records of Comrades#TPN Two Paths#officersnickers
