Saturday Night Showcase> Ghidorah (or Ghidrah), The Three-Headed Monster
BW Media Spotlight's Saturday Night Showcase> Ghidorah (or Ghidrah), The Three-Headed Monster
So when did Godzilla become the “Guardian Monster” I grew up with? That would be the fifth movie in the franchise, Ghidorah, The Three-Headed Monster. This was also the second team-up of Toho monsters. While the Showa era films didn’t have the tight continuity of the Heisei films, there is still progression. Godzilla in pop culture: Look at this funny dinosaur guy fight other dinosaur guys. He's so wacky!
Godzilla in the original film (and Shin Godzilla and Minus One): This beast represents our fears and damaged psyche caused by nuclear destruction. We must be staunchly anti-war or risk the annihilation of our species to petty grievances. We will never truly heal from the pain and suffering that occurred in Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
Godzilla in every other movie: Look at this funny dinosaur guy fight other dinosaur guys. He's so wacky!
I should mention that I legitimately love both styles of film, but the mood whiplash between them is pretty intense.
