Kahpun returns with an all-inclusive jam-packed "Dice" Album - LISTEN
Kahpun’s absence was definitely for a growth purpose! This reflects in how he presents the “Dice” Album, his 12-tracked catalogue. “Dice”, is a well cute Album that seeps through varied genres and still maintains the artiste’s originality in vocal presentation and delivery with his accentuations.
Kahpun tackles issues from love, romance, family, celebration, party, social commentary and conscious revolutionary lyrics in a bid to bring about meaningful change to his community, and at large, the world through the power of words and sounds. His choice of Producers cut for the project was flawless.
He explores the various sides of himself combing through different versatile spaces on different productions. Just like the ‘Dice’ has 6 digits, Kahpun serves exciting melodies and rhythm from Reggae, Dancehall, Afrobeats, Hiplife, RnB and Hiphop circles. Could this be the premise for the title of the Album?
About Kahpun
Kahpun is a very vocal Ghanaian Musician best known to represent Reggae and Dancehall, but the global buzz Afrobeats is enjoying now found him exploring more of that side to pull the audience and grab some new ears for his type of sound. Kahpun, Ghana’s international Reggae/dancehall artiste currently based in Wales, UK is an award-winning recording artiste & songwriter who hails from Ghana, precisely, Cape Coast. He is known for songs like “Make Up” featuring Stonebwoy, Anthony B’s “Jailbird”, “Excuse Me Miss”, “Still I Love You”, and “Forgive Dem”, just to name a few.
He was nominated for ‘Best Reggae/Dancehall Song Of The Year & ‘Best  Reggae/Dancehall Artiste Of The Year categories, respectively at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in 2020, Ghana Music Awards USA, Ghana Music Awards UK, among others. He performed at the 3Music Awards 2021 & VGMA Xperience Concert the same year. He is a 6 times winner of Central Music awards. He released his first EP ‘My Story My Song’ in 2019 with songs like Business, ‘Forgive Dem’, ‘Try Again’, etc.
He moved to the United Kingdom in July 2021 and incorporated a foundation called Heightz International Foundation which aims at helping Ghanaian creatives and connecting or building good bridges between Ghana & Wales through music, arts & literacy. At the same time, he brought over one DJ from Ghana to work with 2 international radio stations in the UK & has linked another DJ to work with the same stations as the next mentee.

I do not own these tracks, nor do I promote the act of piracy. The purpose of this blog is to shine a light on underexposed musicians. If you like what you hear then support these artists: buy their music, get some merch, experience a live show. Deepen the fan base of lesser known acts, show your love of music, and help spread the jams.

Zylofon Activation Concert with Shatta Wale in Aflao was my first major break on stage — Chief One discloses on Asaase Radio
New Post has been published on https://plugzafrica.com/zylofon-activation-concert-with-shatta-wale-in-aflao-was-my-first-major-break-on-stage-chief-one-discloses-on-asaase-radio/
Zylofon Activation Concert with Shatta Wale in Aflao was my first major break on stage — Chief One discloses on Asaase Radio
Chief One’s session on Asaase Radio 99.5FM on Saturday, April 23rd was quite a touching one when Mz Keekie hosted him on “The African Playlist” Radio Show.
Counting his recent blessings after winning “Next Rated Act Of The Year” at 3 Music Awards 2022 AND also receiving gifts from Infinix Ghana, Chief One recounts one key moment in his career that shot him into the limelight, locally.
The fast-rising Musician, Chief One, who (in his own words) began doing music professionally from 2015, disclosed to Mz Keekie on Asaase Radio that Zylofon Activation Concert held in Aflao in 2018 headlined by Shatta Wale gave him a major breakthrough.
“I have been recording songs and performing across Volta Region before that Zylofon Show. But that was the very first time I felt it within myself that I have fully arrived. The cheers from the crowd that day when my name was mentioned as the next performer really swooned me; and the thunderous reception I got from the audience made me feel it’s time I step up my game and take it to the next level. Shouts to Zylofon Media for that wonderful opportunity; it really pushed me and encouraged me”, Chief One admitted.
“The African Playlist” on Asaase Radio 99.5FM is a weekend radio magazine that airs on Saturdays between 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm hosted by Keely Jade-Brewer, popularly known as Mz Keekie, and her Jock, DJ Blackboi. The radio show throws a spotlight on new music across the African continent as well as buzzing (new) artistes and their body of works as well as some key highlights of Veteran African Musicians (and their careers).
Saturday, April 23 2022, had the major spotlight on Chief One, a leading face of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards’ Unsung nominees. On Monday, April 18th in Koforidua, Chief One had a sterling performance with his live band set during the #VGMA23 Xperience Concert held on the night, thus, was tipped to be one of the best performers on the night with his set.
Chief One’s latest body of work, “Du Agbe” Official Video, a single off his debut EP “Here I Come” hits almost 80,000 streams on YouTube a few weeks after release. For an upcoming artiste to pull such numbers is a thing many have described as auspicious. The Video was shot on location in Togo by Kabash Images, a song produced by Hairlergbe.
Watch the video here below:
youtube
Commenting on his EP on the show, he says it sparked in the last quarter of 2021 when one of his singles “Novayi” caught massive attention from industry greats and social media sensations, which pushed him to work on a debut EP because his fans were expecting more from him. His debut EP titled “Here I Come” hits almost a million streams across Digital Platforms within 2 months after release, organically. He continues to acknowledge Reggie Rockstone, SAMINI, Giovani Caleb, and Elorm Beenie for throwing the spotlight on him.
Listen to his EP “Here I Come” on Digital Stores: https://ditto.fm/here-i-come
The EP which holds 6 songs has produced 5 official videos for it already. “Novayi”, “Young Boy”, “Mekamo” are big hit records from the EP with, “Du Agbe”, as the people’s latest sensation from his body of work.

Headlight on Chief One after VGMA Xperience Concert

Delali Sika of Graphic Communications Group who writes for Graphic Showbiz, Attractive Mustapha of Modern Ghana and Worla of Ghana Music in a review after the show have tipped Chief One and Nautyca as top live band performers among the Unsung Nominees.

Chief One who broke into mainstream recognition in December 2021 has been one of the very consistent young Ghanaian talents creating an influence on the scene.

Black Sherif, who is in current global highlights also had a similar breakthrough in early 2021; many have tipped Chief One as the next to follow the same stead.
Chief One won 3 Music Awards’ “Next Rated Act” in March 2022 at the 5th edition of the awards and is currently a nominee for the #VGMA23 Unsung category. Though votes are still ongoing, Chief One is in a good lead to win the slot among 9 other nominees. The voting code for him is U2 to shortcode 1767 (fans can also vote for him to win for free online via www.GhanaMusicAwards.com).
Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2022 is slated for May 6th and May 7th, the nominees’ jam was held on Monday, April 18, 2022, in Koforidua where some nominees serenaded revellers for the Easter festive season.
