     With his hand gripping a stack of folders, he pushed away from his desk and walked towards the copy room. It was through a door further down the hall on the opposite side. Though, he didn’t get that far because once he exited the large office space he very nearly walked right into a woman passing in the hall. Slightly startled he took an immediate step back and was about to voice an apology. However, nothing came out of his mouth, as he had looked to see who the woman was and was taken aback by the very familiar face he was looking at.  “ Jess? “  He would never have expected to find Vicky’s colleague here of all places.  “ What are you doing here? “

    “he’s pretty quiet most of the time, actually.” she enters the room again with jamie on her hip, shaking a bottle with her free hand. jane knows that most mothers are convinced that their babies are the best, but she really thinks it’s true in jamie’s case. he already sleeps through the night, hardly ever cries, and he’s always so bright and attentive. he’s the best thing that ever happened to her, and jane doesn’t know if it’ll ever get any better than this.

            it had been a long time since he had strolled these halls. in fact, he had only done his residency here for a few months before he went back to columbia. when he had been asked to assist on a particularly difficult surgery, however, he had gladly accepted. it was a breath of fresh air to work in a regular hospital again, with no inhumans and no agents and avengers. after the 6-hour long operation, he changed out of his shrubs and headed to the break room for a well-deserved cup of coffee. “hi,” he greeted the only other person there. “i’m making a cup of coffee. you want one?”
