Sherlock Holmes on Poetry Genius

What is Poetry Genius, you may ask?  Well, some while back (in 2009), there appeared a website called Rap Genius, which enabled users to post and annotate rap lyrics.  Since then, the site has expanded to include Rock Genius, News Genius, and Poetry Genius.  Poetry Genius has more than poetry on it, though. Various literary works have been posted on the site, including...you guessed it...some of the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.  I've been active on Rap Genius, Rock Genius and Poetry Genius for some time now, and when I discovered The Hound of the Baskervilles on the site, I immediately began to post more Sherlock Holmes stories on the site.  You can see the Arthur Conan Doyle content on Poetry Genius here.

The great thing about having Holmes stories on Poetry Genius is that Sherlockians can collaborate on creating their own annotated Sherlock Holmes, in the tradition of Baring-Gould and Klinger.  The interface on the site enables users to add not just annotations, but links, video, pictures, etc.  I am still in the process of adding more Holmes stories to the site, but as of this post, here's what's available to annotate:

the change here is so interesting to mewolves v.1 is a totally different universe of a song but v.2 is so similar to the final song that its really interesting to compare the different direction of the lyrics like the second line in these are...sort of opposites with the same concept? That loneliness and isolation is present in both lines but one is kicked out and living on the street (metaphorically or literally) while the original line speaks to more of a sort of agoraphobic repression i.e. you can hide away but youll never stop being yourself. the you's of v.2 overall also feel harsher in tone, like its mocking their targets patheticness which is WILDLY different from the abject misery of v.1 which almost feels more like its from the POV of the person being mocked here. I think the end result we got was a blending of the 2 with a song that feels like its mocking itself and its own guilt and shame.

Megan and Tess head to the Waterside warble for a night out. They sing a couple's song together and Tess laughs as Megan sings off-key but cheerfully. Tess grins as she looks at Megan and sings from the catchy pop tune, "You make my heart gallop like a llama," both laugh in between singing. They head upstairs and find Iseul and Grace at the lot too. Iseul smiles at them and Grace waves. "I thought I heard a familiarly off-key voice. I should've known it was you, Liao." Iseul teases and Megan gives her a look but smiles. "Haha, Kang." She teases back.

The group decides to do some karaoke together, with Megan and Grace doing a cheesy but fun song as Tess and Iseul cheer them on. Tess performs a rock song, and Megan's stomach swoops as Tess gets into it and lets out a growl*, winking at her. Megan fans her face as Grace teases her. "Hey, she's cute," Megan says, blushing. Grace then performs a song for Iseul, Mamma mia 2's version of ABBA's Andante andante. "Take it easy with me, please, Touch me gently like a summer evening breeze, Take your time, make it slow, Andante, andante, and just let the feeling grow**," She sings, blushing as Iseul grins and Tess cheers. Megan smiles too, and she claps for Grace as she finishes. Iseul and Grace head home early, but Megan and Tess stay a bit longer, deciding to sing one more song, a sweet ballad, before heading back home.
