i love love love that grian and gem are both fishing but in such different ways.
grian is a freshwater fisherman. hes got a shack by the riverside and a rowboat he takes out to the lake. he wades in to "have a word" with the waters about his catch when it's not too great.
gem is not only a saltwater fisherman, shes a deep sea fisherman. she lives on a boat geared for deep ocean fishing, nets and cranes and weighted lines. shes gonna pull up The Horrors from the depths.
i like to imagine that grian and gem meet bc gem takes her boat on a shortcut through some freshwater waterways and goes right through grian's fishing territory. i love it

I pictured AK!Jason in a date with his s/o at nights, specifically when he doesn't risks his ass off to fight some thugs or keep Gotham's little order, I would picture him in one of those fancy (or not so) restaurants where you can listen to live jazz music and the kind of restaurant with the small scented candles on the middle of the table with some glasses of wine.
By this, what kind of dates would AK!Jason enjoy when going out with his s/o?
Your restaurant description reminds me of a place I found while replaying: Riverside Lounge in Grand Avenue Station on Miagani Island. It caught my eye because it looks like a great date spot 😉
While AK Jay is uncomfortable showing his branded face in public, he also likes to show you off while showing you a good time, so getting to enjoy good food, wine, and music at a laid-back joint with muted lighting, a casual dress code, and live performers who can take the crowd's attention off of his beloathed J is an acceptable date in his book. (Bonus points if the restaurant's a hidden gem in his old neighborhood.)
If he's gotta go out for the date, he also enjoys taking you to the community theater for a live performance (again, Park Row spots are preferred.)
Eventually he realizes that when you're at his side, he doesn't have to worry about stares because all eyes are on you. So you get to show him off on your arm at glamorous spots with formal dress codes where you get to dress up like a celeb at film premiere and he's forced to wear a tailored suit 😍 He's still gonna slouch, but at least his beautiful face isn't hidden beneath a hat and a hoodie.

Illia Ponomarenko shows us one of the many gems Kyiv has to offer: The Kyiv Pechersk Lavra (or the Kyiv Lavra of the Caves). It is considered the most significant and holiest of places in Eastern Slavic Orthodox Christianity. This is an example of what is at stake for Ukraine as Russia continues its efforts to eradicate Ukrainian history and identity.
So, about 1,000 years ago, Kyiv was living its golden age as the center of a large medieval kingdom of Rus under Prince Yaroslav the Wise—very possibly the greatest ruler of Kyiv ever. The official residence of the rulers of Kyiv Rus was located in the town of Berestove outside Kyiv (it's now where Kyiv's Park of Eternal Glory is). The Berestove priest Illarion sought comfort and solitude, so he dug a lonesome cave in the hills at the Dnipro riverside, where he could spend his time alone in prayers. That happened around 1051 A.D. That guy soon became the head of the Kyiv Church and left, but more hermits followed his suit and established their shelters in those caves. Over many years, they burrowed long mazes of catacombs and established churches and monastic cells. The monastery gradually became a grandiose Lavra, a magnificent center of religious and cultural life, the greatest in this corner of human civilization. As early as 1073 A.D., the Cathedral of the Dormition (or the 'Great Church') was established (and you can see the modern iteration of it, the magnificent white cathedral bearing images of the saints on its walls. Just like Kyiv, the Lavra was ruined and resurrected from ashes several times over its 1,000-year history. Mongolians seized and desolated Kyiv in 1240, and the Lavra was devastated so hard that it spent well over a century in empty ruins. Yet, it would always rise again in all of its glory. During WWII, the Great Church was blown up just as many other iconic locations of Kyiv, such as Kherschatyk Street (in my opinion, what happened was that the Soviets planted bombs at the Lavra upon their withdrawal from the city in 1941 and failed to detonate them on time; and Nazis took out the treasures of the Lavra and got rid of the Soviet bombs by blowing up the cathedral. Like many other significant treasures of Kyiv, the Great Church of the Lavra was resurrected by independent Ukraine by the 2000s. The Lavra is indeed a city within a city—I'm only showing you a tiny part of it that is popular with tourists. Unfortunately, the ancient monastery caves have been closed to visitors for over a year. Technically, the Lavra is a giant museum with many art exhibitions, collections of historical artifacts, and recreation zones for anyone. Right now, for instance, the Lavra Historical Museum exhibits ancient Scthyntian gold from Crimea that was recently returned to Ukraine. At the Lavra, you can easily find the resting places of many historical figures of the past, such as the one of Kostiantyn Ostrozky, the legendary ultra-rich magnate of the 15th and 16th centuries and the Lavra's lavish sponsor, or Petr Stolypin, the Russian imperial prime minister who was assassinated at the Kyiv Opera House in 1911. Of course, the Lavra is about the iconic Great Bell Tower, one of Kyiv's most legendary landmarks. The tower is 96 meters high and can be seen from around 30 kilometers away from the Lavra. It takes over 370 stairs to reach the tower's top -- but I'm telling you, it's 100% worth it as the Great Bell Tower shows you a truly stunning view of Kyiv, especially when the weather is fine. Fucking legend. For centuries, until recently, the Lavra was under complete control by the Russian Orthodox Church, which is fundamentally loyal to Russia. In 2023, amid the war against Russia, Kyiv authorities and the Zelensky administration tried (and failed) to terminate the Moscow clergy's legal presence at the Lavra in 2023. Currently, the Russian church and its monks remain in control of the so-called Lower Lavra. In the Upper Lavra, which has most of the iconic places and locations, the recently re-established Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the de-facto successor of the old original Christian church of the Kyiv Rus, now has its divine service again. Welcome to the beautiful ancient Kyiv.

"Letter to you"
Julian Devorak x reader (NB) (🥀)
Julian Devorak sat by the riverside, the gentle flow of the water a soothing backdrop to his whirling thoughts. The weight of his responsibilities as a doctor and magician in the bustling city of Vesuvia seemed to bear down on him, and the riverbank offered a rare moment of solitude.
With a weathered journal in hand, he poured his frustrations onto the page, the scratch of his quill punctuating each furious scribble. The worries that kept him awake at night, the doubts that crept in every time he tended to a patient, the loneliness that clung to him like a shroud – they all spilled forth in a torrent of ink.
As the sun began to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, Julian tore a page from his journal. With deft fingers, he folded the parchment into a small boat, running his thumb along the creases to smooth them. For a moment, he stared at the tiny vessel, a physical manifestation of the burdens he longed to cast off.
Taking a deep breath, he placed the paper boat into the river's gentle current, watching as it bobbed and drifted away, carrying his worries with it. A sense of lightness washed over him, as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
Days turned to weeks, and Julian found himself returning to the riverbank, time and time again. Each visit, he would write, fold, and release another paper boat, the simple ritual becoming a cherished respite from the chaos of his life.
Then, one day, something caught his eye – a tiny object drifting towards him, carried by the river's flow. As it drew nearer, Julian's heart skipped a beat. It was a folded parchment, not unlike the boats he had sent forth, but this one bore the unmistakable marks of having been handled and written upon.
With trembling hands, he plucked the paper boat from the water and unfolded it, his eyes widening as he read the words scrawled across the page. They were words of comfort, of understanding, as if written by a kindred spirit who had borne witness to his innermost thoughts and fears.
From that day on, Julian found himself engaged in a silent exchange, sending his worries downstream and receiving solace in return. The handwriting was elegant yet warm, the words a balm for his weary soul.
With each passing day, Julian felt himself growing attached to this mysterious correspondent, their empathy and insight becoming a lifeline in his tumultuous world. He found himself eagerly awaiting their responses, savoring each carefully crafted phrase as if it were a precious gem.
Yet, part of him hesitated to take the connection further. What if meeting the person behind the words shattered the magic they had cultivated? What if their bond, forged through the ephemeral language of the river, could not withstand the harsh light of reality?
Julian's heart ached with the desire to know them, to gaze upon the face of the one who had become his dearest confidant. But fear held him back, the fear of losing the one thing that had brought him solace in his darkest hours.
Then, one fateful day, another paper boat appeared, carried by the gentle current. Julian's hands shook as he unfolded it, his eyes scanning the familiar script.
"Dearest Julian, our connection has brought me more joy than I can express. If you are willing, I would be honored to meet you in person, to put a face to the kindred spirit I have come to cherish."
Julian's breath caught in his throat, his heart thundering in his chest. This was the moment he had both longed for and dreaded, the crossroads where their bond would either deepen or dissolve.
Swallowing hard, he made his decision.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the riverbank, Julian waited with bated breath. Doubts flickered through his mind like
fireflies in the gathering dusk. What if he had misread the situation? What if his correspondent was disappointed by the man behind the words?
Then, he saw a figure approach, silhouetted against the fiery colors of the setting sun. As they drew nearer, Julian's doubts melted away, replaced by a sense of awe that stole his breath.
Before him stood a vision of beauty, their features both striking and warm, their eyes shining with an intelligence and empathy that Julian recognized instantly. A gentle smile graced their lips as they held out their hand in greeting.
In that moment, Julian knew that his fears had been unfounded. This was no mere correspondence, no fleeting connection destined to fade. This was the beginning of something profound, a bond forged not just through words but through a true understanding of one another's souls.
As he took their hand, feeling the warmth and solidity of their touch, Julian felt a sense of rightness settle over him. No longer would he face the world alone, for he had found a kindred spirit, a partner to walk beside him on the journey ahead.
The river's gentle murmurs seemed to echo their unspoken promise – that no matter what challenges lay before them, they would navigate the currents together, buoyed by the love and understanding they had discovered in the most unexpected of places.

Rollover Conflict
An AU based off Life Series
The AU is placed directly after Secret Life, which means all events leading up are still prevalent. In this AU, all players are assigned a randomized amount of lives 2-6 like Last Life. However, there's now a new twist, which comes in the form of implementing the reroll mechanic.
Rerolls: Once per session, a player gets the option to reroll their current amount of lives. There's a risk with rerolling, as now the number 1 is thrown into the mix. Any players that are on their last life forfeit rerolls, and their only goal is to eliminate other player's lives. Rerolling becomes much more dangerous as player lives get eliminated. As soon as the highest number of lives is eliminated, it's taken out of circulation for rerolls and replaced with one (ex. If all 6 life players lose their sixth life, rerolling a 6 counts as a 1)
Lives: The give life command is available, but it can only be used to give lives to players on red. (eliminates the chances of life monopolies). Gifting a life to a red player forfeits your own reroll next session, however.
All player's lives are divvied up like this in the beginning:
7 - Grian
6 - Cleo, Lizzie, Tango
5 - Etho, Mumbo, Martyn
4 - Scar, Pearl, Skizz, Gem
3 - BDubs, Impulse, BigB
2 - Scott, Joel, Jimmy, Ren
Grian's life count broke the game because Grian himself is the reason the games even exist (those Watcher allegations are catching up, I see)
Teams: All players fall into certain teams for the AU, and they congregate in certain areas of the map. In total, there are 6 teams, ranging from the Snowy Mountains to down by the River. All teams are:
Jungle- BDubs, Etho
Snowy Mountain- Scar, Grian, Pearl
Cliffside- Scott, Joel
Meadow Mountain- Impulse, Skizz, Cleo, Mumbo
Riverside- Gem, Lizzie, Jimmy, Tango
Plains- Ren, Martyn, BigB
Through betrayals and allies, the games prattle on. Who will end up on top, after all else fails? I guess only I know

ffxivwrite #6 - Ring
wc. 731, B'ig Nunh and you 🫵, pov: you are going on a date with B'ig Nunh
You are going on a date with B’ig Nunh to the Eorzean Moogle Fair this fair day.
He planned it weeks in advance, saying that it was so important that you and him went as it only came around once every couple years. He was super excited about it so you had to say you’d go. Because you love him, of course.
When you arrive at the fair, there isn’t a B’ig Nunh in sight. Though there are many people wearing hats similar to his moogle hat with a heart pom. You look around, playing a game of spot the Miqo’te in couerl briefs you know he’s going to wear. When you first met him, you thought they were an interesting choice in fashion, but they’ve really grown onto you, kind of. You finally spot a bright blue spot in the distance, rapidly approaching you.
“Sorry, I’m late!!!” B’ig Nunh shouts while running towards you. Before he can get to you, he trips and falls and a little kyaa comes out of him. He quickly gets back up. “I’m okay.”
You find this cute for some reason. He’s so funny and interesting and sexy and hot and– you don’t know what came over you, must be the author’s bias. “Hi B’ig,”
“Hi, my sweet snurble,” He says, holding your hands and pulling you closer. You laugh.
“Snurble?” He laughs too.
“Oh, I made this for you.” he pulls out a bag tied with a very pretty ribbon. “Balls.”
“Huh.” You open the bag and surely enough, those are balls. B’ig Nunh’s homemade chocolate balls that is. You playfully push the side of his head. “You jokester.”
“Let’s go already!” B’ig Nunh pulls you towards the fair. There’s so many moogle themed things here. Anyone who hates moogles must hate this place. Not B’ig Nunh though, how could he hate moogles when he’s been wearing the moogle hat longer than you’ve known him.
The two of you go on the fair’s attraction rides, whether the ones you ride are like the huge wyrmcoaster or like the moogle-go-round, or both, we will never know.
“Let’s go on another one!” B’ig Nunh says enthusiastically. You’re actually a bit tired now.
“I’ll pass, but you can go ahead. I’ll wait here.”
“What? No, I’d rather stay here with you,” that makes your cheeks flush. The two of you start walking around the fair.
B’ig Nunh points to one of the stands. “Hey look! Funny hats!”
He pulls you towards the hats. You both put the novelty hats on each other and laugh.
“Wait,” he grabs one of the headbands and puts it on you. It was a moogle headband with a heart shaped pom. “We’re matching now!”
–
The night sky falls over you. Time flies when you’re having fun. B’ig suggests that you walk along the river with him, a little ways away from the fair. The cool air hits your face. It’s nice.
B’ig Nunh runs a little ahead of you and crouches, putting his arms behind him. “Hop on.”
“Hop on?”
“Yeah! I’ll carry you.” You mount B’ig Nunh. He carries you with ease and runs as fast he can along the riverside. This is very impressive or just okay depending on how big you are. Later he puts you down and immediately starts carrying you bridal style. You get a great view of his extremely handsome, hot, sexy face, maybe even the sexiest in Eorzea. You get to a nice area and he finally actually puts you down. He hugs you.
“You know, we’ve been together for, an amount of time.” He loosens his grip so he can look at you. You gaze into his beautiful hot sexy cerulean and greenish cerulean eyes that glisten in the moonlight. “I love you, Y/N.”
He takes a step back and bends down on one knee, his bare knee because he’s not wearing proper trousers... Your heartbeat quickens in anticipation. He looks up at you and smiles and pulls an extremely shiny, metallic blue box. He opens it to reveal a silver ring with a heart shaped gem.
“Will you–”
“hi b’ig” Vertical said walking downstairs, interrupting B’ig’s reading mid sentence and taking him out of his imaginative delusions. He put down his book and looked up at Vertical from his bed.
“Hey! B’ig Nunh was just about to propose to me!” he huffed.
“?”

September/October 1973 Ah, Youth, The Life Of an O’riginal Chainsaw Gal
A deep spring cleaning brought these little gems above to the surface.
In the days following filming Chainsaw ’74, after we’d wrapped, we were all finding our path, looking for ways to make money. I wasn’t in the brutal chainsaw dinner scenes (t’anks gods!!!). I was done and immediately looking for work, any work. Prior to filming I’d been working at Mrs. Robinson’s Restaurant at the corner of Riverside Drive and Congress Avenue in downtown Austin, for two years, paying for classes at St. Edward’s University, and doing well. Simultaneously, I’d been getting leads in all the plays at St Ed’s Mary Moody Northern Theater. After filming “Headcheese’ (Chainsaw ’74’s working title) for two-weeks, with little in the can, we shut down for a week. Then, we got a call that they found some money, filming was resuming. We all signed new contracts, but this time for ‘deferred money’. They’d kindly held my job at Mrs. R’s for the two weeks, but when we extended filming for another month, they had to hire someone to replace me. Drat. No job, no money.
Out of the blue, Daniel Pearl did me a solid. Our Chainsaw '74 cinematographer, Daniel, offered to shoot a portfolio for me with Daniel as the photographer, and Dottie Pearl assisting me with make-up and wardrobe. Both were full of great ideas, completely supportive, and very talented. Back in the day, with no internet, iPhones, computers, etc., we literally snail-mailed our pictures to casting agents and directors. When I think of the time-consuming hours of addressing, stamping, and trips to the post office, I get exhausted. Now, of course, you can scan and press Send.
Think about it.
The Good News: Everything finally worked out. As happens in life, things always change. For the past few years, our Chainsaw franchise has grown exponentially. I am pleased to report we have all grown close, appearing with my remaining cast mates to celebrate our 50th anniversary this year, since our filming and its release in 1974, appearing at various horror cons with my remaining cast members, together with our film crew members, Daniel Pearl, DP, JMichael McClary, ADP, and Ted Nicholaou, Sound Recordist. Fans love it and we love them!
Thanks to Kim Henkel, his son Ian Henkel, and Chase Anderson, we've been enjoying a real reunion to celebrate a little film we gave our hearts and souls to in the sweltering heat of July and August 1973, that went on to put Texas horror films on the map, a trailblazer, and lauded across the planet as a cult-classic in the horror genre. No sour grapes here, just great lessons learned, and thanks to all those who appreciate our work. We thank you.
The top right picture is from a print ad for Suzuki. Daniel had scored a local Suzuki commercial print ad shoot as DP in September 1973. When the director said they needed a girl who rode a motorcycle, Daniel did me yet another solid, he suggested me.🚀
Fifty years later, I’m still grateful.
xoxo,
Pammie 🪝💋

A new wilderness area in Nova Scotia's Guysborough County will protect 300 hectares of old-growth forest as well as a lake that has been identified by a mining company as a water source for a proposed gold mine.
The Archibald Lake Wilderness Area will encompass 684 hectares of forest, wetland and three lakes that feed into a tributary of the St. Marys River, one of Nova Scotia's longest rivers.
The area also provides habitat for the endangered mainland moose and Canada warbler.
Greg Morrow, the province's agriculture minister and the MLA who represents the area, called it a "pristine natural gem" that "takes your breath away when you come to it."
He spoke at a riverside event in Sherbrooke, N.S., on Monday that about 50 people attended.
Morrow said he'd been looking forward to the announcement for years, in part, because he saw how much it meant to people when he was campaigning.
"What an impression was left on me, just everybody in the area who said to me, 'We want this area protected.' with tears in their eyes," he said.
Conservation groups have long sought protection for the area and stressed its importance to the watershed where a salmon restoration project has seen success.

𝕚𝕝𝕒𝕪 𝕕𝕖𝕞𝕚𝕣
she appears as though she was born thirty years ago but is actually fifty-two, is a siren and lives in mystic grove as an art dealer, and is in no pod. she looks an awful lot like ayca aysin turan.
"She loves the serene brutality of the ocean, loves the electric power she felt with each breath of wet, briny air.”
tw: drowning
Life was beautiful for young Ilay. Born by the riverside in Turkey to two doting parents. Her father a prominent businessman in the region, her mother, the doting housewife. Raised as a princess with the world within her hands, Ilay had all her doe-blue-eyed self could ever ponder and hope for. They moved from Turkey to the UK when she was a teenager. A whole new world unlocked to her, simply by packing a weekend bag and hopping on a train. Country from county, she frolicked around and discovered all the hidden gems each one contained. It was her way of life, well into her twenties.
Building a life for herself within the world of the arts, Ilay began her impact in the art industry as Alara. A curator with the optimal eye and taste. It was in her dealing that she caught the eye of an affluent Irish man. Trying to sweep her off his feet, her declined was only meant with resentment and frustration by him. An attempted proposal gone wrong had her submerged under water by his hands. The light grew further away from the surface before she was enveloped in total darkness. On the seashore was she surrounded by a pod in Greece. They welcomed her with open arms and quickly taught her the life and ways of a siren.
Despite the unfortunate circumstances that brought her this fate, Ilay found a renewed spirit and zeal for humanity and its experiences. The last twenty years have been dedicated to her fingerprint on the art world as an art dealer and a private investor and ambassador to several water conservation programming around the globe. It was only recently that the man who changed her life forever resurfaced. Hearing about a supernatural community stateside, in attempts for safety and to hideout, Ilay has temporarily relocated. It's no Milan, but it will certainly do.
“what power did she attain when settling in greywood?”
Aquatic telepathy/empathy. Always had a love for the ocean and being an ambassador for water programming to preserver the sanctity of these spaces and the creatures that resides within these sources. A full circle moment as she can now communicate and feel with the marine animals are expressing.
