Magic: the Gathering has been around for 30 years. There are 27,000 unique cards and growing. And a lot of them create tokens. While the official tokens are great, I have a need to celebrate the artwork of our (mtg) ancestors. Let's celebrate older artwork with a new coat of paint.

En 1974 Leon Russell le produjo a su esposa Mary McCreary (corista de Bobby Womack, Sly & The Family Stone y Barbra Streisand) su segundo álbum en solitario, "Jezebel", con participación de muchos grandes músicos de estudio, algunos de la Wrecking Crew, que de ahí venía Leon. Gente como Carol Kaye, Chuck Rainey, Andy Newmark, Don Preston, Lynn Tate, Clydie King, Merry Clayton, Carolyn Willis, arreglos de cuerda de Nick De Caro, además de Leon tocando piano eléctrico y sintetizador, y Mary como voz principal, piano y ocasional clavinet.

El tema de más arriba "Soothe Me" contó con la guitarra y voz de José Feliciano, Gelon Lau en el violín eléctrico, Dave Miner (bajo) Jim Gordon, Jim Keltner (baterías), Lawrence Hill (percusión), Leon, Mary, y coros no acreditados (supongo que de Clayton- King- Willis).

"Jezebel" es un LP muy interesante que se mueve entre reggae, soul rock, gospel (Mary estuvo en The Heavenly Tones y en Little Sister, coristas de Sly) que hubiera merecido mejor suerte y que conviene recuperar. Un álbum que une a mentor y alumno (Leon- Elton, gran versión de "Levon"), favorito de Eric Clapton, que versionó "Singing The Blues" en su LP "There´s One In Every Crowd".
