I'm sure a couple of you are bored to death of my strike vest replicas, but this one's special, I promise :V

I've made quite a few Strike Vests over the years, and I've always ended up getting rid of the examples I meant to keep for myself, but this is one that I think is gonna be staying with me.

I based this one off an example that used to be on display at the Fayetteville Airborne and Special Operations Museum - unlike a majority of Gen.1 Strike Vests, this particular example was fitted with Fastex QR-1 Buckles as opposed to the typical SR-1.

On top of sourcing a set of these scarce buckles, an SADF P83 Rucksack was cannibalized to get just enough vintage nutria brown Cordura fabric to complete this rig (a huge PITA ftr, please don't ask me to do this for you).

As usual, all the other materials used on this rig include the correct MIL-T-5038 T/4 webbing, C.S. Osborne #00 Brass Grommets, and light OD Green MIL-W-5664 Cotton Elastic Tape.

Gen.1 Strike Vests of a similar pattern can be seen worn by SSG Daniel Busch and by an unknown operator next to SFC Randy Shughart in one photo.

I'm seeing, like in 2020 and 2016, a lot of talk about immigrating out of the states etc. and not even going into how that isn't feasible for a lot of people for various reasons I also just. don't see anyone talking about what if I don't want to fucking run away from my own home.

As a white woman I'm far from the first person to experience living in a homeland that you want to love but hates you politically. None of this is new for every other minority group in our country. But I remember first feeling it as a lesbian teen in the south and it's something I've heard shared by other friends of mine of different backgrounds from the US - especially red states. Even though I theoretically could get a visa somewhere else which is a privilege in and of itself - it's not fair that I should be pushed to consider it. Maybe I don't want to go to Europe. Maybe I like how diverse my home country is. I like our music and food and people and the little pockets of community we do manage to scrape together. Maybe I was born here and I want to fucking stay here rather than let the dickheads just win out over me and I don't want to run and pull up the ladder behind me.

I don't have an overarching point to this post and I'm not trying to shame people looking for a "way out" but it sucks to see. It sucks to see non Americans shittalk us, too, like there's not good people across the country - a whole half of the country - that didn't want any of this.

was reading the first part of your "the other thing about hiking accidents" post and thinking "haha yeah, like that time my sibling and I accidentally did a hike that was fully snow-covered all the way up and down the mountain with so little experience and none of the things we would have needed if something went wrong, though at least we weren't foolish enough to do it on a mountain more than like a quarter of the elevation of mount hood" and then I got to the second half of the post and started laughing out loud because our ill-advised hike was literally in the white mountains this past april. luckily the trail wasn't icy even at the top and was close to a big info center, and we had substantially better weather than you did! look up your hikes yourself kids, and don't assume that the person in the ski shop where you stopped for coffee will take into account that you're a dumbass from the midatlantic when giving you recommendations for a "short hike" 😂

in Complete fairness, the lower white mountains aren't Super deadly -- it's typically once you hit the alpine tundra that conditions can get Very Dangerous. i'm guessing you didn't do one of the 4,000+ footers if it was called a quick hike.

and also, i DID eventually get to go up to the white mountains during that trip in april -- we just had to check for favorable weather before we left. so possibly we were up there at around the same time!

but yeah, i've found that hikers from new hampshire tend to have a difficulty baseline that's.... different from the average vacationer's. for ANYONE hiking in the white mountains, i 100% recommend looking up reviews of the trail on alltrails before you go. bc they can be Telling.

if the one-stars all start with "it's flooded with running white water" or "we didn't know about the vertical rock climbs" then..... well. assess your readiness with caution 😭😭😭

please allow me to give you some inspiration by sharing a few screenshots that i definitely don't have saved on my phone in a folder called 'MORK I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE'

also when in episode 2 day told him "get naked and let people watch, then i will forgive you" and mork - the absolute mad man - literally stood up from his chair with no hesitation just ready to do it????? and when in this last episode he was so nervous about day eating his food and his face immediately fell when he thought day didn't like it????? i know i've already said this but he really just wants to please day and be praised by him SOOOO BADLY like it's honestly embarrassing how obvious he is i mean not to be that person but the first time he's pounding into day just right and day moans out a breathless "p'mork. so good" mork completely loses his rhythm and needs a Moment™ to recover or risks coming way too fast

this knowledge will be used by day in the future to both tease and edge mork by not allowing him to come until day does. and like.. i LOVE soft dom day giving mork directions on how to please him best while telling mork how good he is for day, but as i've said before im also convinced that day is very into being manhandled and pinned down LIKE LOOK AT HIM LOOK AT THIS BOY AND TELL ME HE DOESN'T LIKE THAT
