New Community Quilt illustration is up on my Redbubble shop.
I’m back on meditating on pride colors and the queer community and how we’re all woven together. Take care.

Allow me to introduce myself:
I started knitting out of spite. I made a scarf to prove that I could, and found myself in love with the immediate gratification and the idea of creating so many different things with my hands. I made scarves, quickly graduated to hats, which led to mittens and then a sweater. I used standard needles, DPNs, circular needles, looms, and a knitting machine.
I was in the camp of "knitting is better than crochet" for a long time. I always thought that it looked neater and more like the things you see on the shelves in stores.
One afternoon, I discovered amigurumi and absolutely HAD to make my partner his favorite Pokemon. I reverse engineered a Crobat from a handful of tutorials on the sphere, triangles, and then some wing samples that I spliced together.
I quickly realized that the world of crochet had a lot more to offer with fun things to make instead of just wearables and accessories. I started making stuffed animals and other decorations for friends and family for gifts.
While knitting will always have a place in my heart, I fell head over heels in love with crochet. I ventured into Tunisian crochet, doily crochet, and the world of granny squares.
Recently, I have completed several projects for gifts, and then I decided to try and monetize this hobby. I love the idea of making money from the thing that I love, and it started off well in person. I made a few sales at work and that led to promotions to their friends and that was a wonderful experience. The feeling of being in-demand felt good.
For some reason, after my most recent gift making, I find myself in a rut... and just in time for me to have the need for supplemental income. I would love to venture into the world of craft fairs and flea markets, but this lack of motivation has caused my supply of finished products to dwindle to nothing.
I have started this blog in an attempt to fall back in love with the art that used to fill my days with creativity. I look through my dashboard and try to find inspiration and I'm excited to be inspired by you all.
If you've fallen out of love with your craft, give me a follow and let's go on this journey together.
~Ian
