Any random facts about Ghary?

I can't remember what I've already shared about Ghary, so here goes some pre-arena Ghary lore!

Before he went into the arena, Ghary kept his hair longish (about shoulder length), tied back out of his face--like his dad!

I've mentioned that Ghary's smile is crooked because of nerve damage in his jaw, but he's also got dimples that he inherited from his mom!

He was already a super strong swimmer before entering the arena, but after escaping, he had to partially re-learn how to swim because of his lost arm.

Ghary outlived both of his parents.

Ghary likes to sing! If Ghary was in a modern AU, his favorite music genre would be 80's rock--Ozzy Osborne, AC/DC, Journey, Def Leppard, Queen, Bon Jovi, etc.!! (Good luck trying to get him to sing in front of other people, though.)

To anyone who may be interested in some Renzo and Arlie lore 👀

A couple of years after the raid, when Renzo was 20 and Arlie was only 16, Arlie was caught in a hunters net trap and was nearly carted off to a buyer in Montell. The only reason why she was able to avoid that fate was through Renzos actions, him having tracked the cart in time and made an attempt to free her. They almost didn't make it when they were spotted sneaking away during the night and as a result Renzo was left with prominent scar that can be seen on his right arm.

But what if . . .

Arlie made it . . .

And he didn't.

I apologize...kinda. I haven't made proper angst yet and I guess I wanted to add to the pain train >=>

24y, she/her

She’s a Montell escapee living deep in the forest, somewhere between the city and the swamp our boys live in. She’s an expert in both poisons and their antidotes, which has come in handy multiple times. She makes them from plants she forages around the forest, so she knows her way around pretty well.

She did meet Marco on one of her foraging trips ! They’ve been good friends ever since and he visits her from time to time. He talks about his family a lot, so maybe she’ll meet them one day ?

She has pretty standard frog abilities, good jumping strength, sticks to walls, she can also extend her tongue.

I loooved working on her design ! I tried to make her appearance more froggy by squashing her face and giving her very droopy eyes (she’s a tired girl)

I’m still trying to figure out her top situation cause I want her to have something that she could wrap around herself, but also what I have so far doesn’t really make sense ?? Clothes are hard man

Final got around to making my Gator oc, Basil Ryeland! He's based on a broad-snout caiman and is a short old man. He still lives in Silver Ben cause, like Bodie, he doesn't venture out often. Mostly sticks to his home and fishing spots. He loves to grow crops and has grown many fruits and vegetables. Some of which he gives to Bodie and Timmy during his visits.

Now, where did he gets the seeds in order to grow all these things. Simple!

When he was younger and didn't live in Silver Ben yet, he and his small family of his mom, dad, older brother and sister lived in some forest with other caiman folk. Basil was a troublemaker and a thief and often snuck into nearby villages to steal and prank people. He was small and stealthily so he didn't get caught. His older brother would scold him harshly as his antic would get them caught one day. But Basil, still young and naive didn't see the issue.

He stole some vegetable seeds and fruits, which got him into starting a small garden. However, it didn't last long as hunters set traps around the forest. One day, Basil and his older brother, Sage argued with him again. The two being quite loud and it attracted hunters. They ran and their parents tried to fend them off but their mom was caught in a net trap and their dad was killed.

Basil tried to get Sage to turn around to help their mom, but it led to another squabble and Sage pushing him away. it made him tumble down a steep hill and get his tail caught in a bear trap. He tried calling out to Sage, but he growled that this was all Basil's fault and left him there to get their sister. Basil stayed quiet through the pain as hunters ran past to chase Sage.

Eventually, things quieted down and the trap fully chopped off the top part of his tail. When he went home, his home was empty with no sign of Sage or their sister, Clover. Basil was distraught and lived there some more as he would believe the hunters wouldn't come around anymore. However, as he got older they started to pick up on his presences and when he was 28 left his forest home.

Soon finding himself in Silver Ben and making his home there.

That's all I got for now, once I think up more. I'll add on but for now, I hope y'all like Basil!

I won’t go into too much detail because I don’t want to spoil the story, but to give you guys the low-down he was murdered shortly after he and Esther got married.

But that just means we hold onto what (or who) we hold precious to us even tighter.

In light of @anniekinsart angst package drop from the swamp, I decided that Ghary needs a hug.

Thus Arlie delivers his well deserved hug.

Ghary is 28 and 6’9!!!

2. He likes wildflowers, especially blue or orange ones! He doesn’t have a favorite bug, but he thinks dragonflies are neat.

3. Fluff - Ghary loves making sculptures out of junk metal he can’t use; when he wants to make something he hasn’t seen before, he uses Marco’s sketches as a reference.

Angst - Ghary was 18 or 19 when he lost his arm, and his escape and subsequent return to Silverben aligns with Timmy’s first arrival in the swamp when he was 10. Rather than asking for help with his freshly removed arm, Ghary learned how to make the healing salve himself by watching Bodie take care of young, injured Timmy.

((I also mildly headcanon that Ghary found Timmy first and left him in a place Bodie would easily find him.))

4. Ghary tends to stay away from others, so this is the first time he’s heard of Cerise! He’d probably think he’d seen a ghost 😂
