💪🏻 theoeikelos because you follow #athenian politics
just a reminder in advance of ostracism season: i know themistocles might not be your first choice to exile (he sure isnt mine!) but being realistic, the only people who have a chance of winning are themistocles and aristides. if you vote for some random guy you hate or write in a joke, thats as good as voting for aristides and we cant take that risk. please please please vote themistocles

guys ive been looking at that most tragic character poll and honestly i think that the antigone side is using bots to vote. the vote count is going up by 100 every few seconds, who even likes antigone?? all i remember about that play is that my teacher made me write prosopopoeiae based on it
#also its just suspicious to see so many antigone votes on the new music enjoyers website #choregos shut up

Bust of Germanicus, son of Drusus the Elder and Antonia Minor. Germanicus was adopted by his paternal uncle Tiberius around 4 AD, making him heir presumptive to the empire. Germanicus was vastly popular with the army and the populace at large and when he died in 19 AD, the rumors of poison abounded.
He and his memory remained cherished by the Romans long after his death and all subsequent emperors, Caligula (Germanicus's son), Claudius (Germanicus's brother), and Nero (Germanicus's grandson) benefitted from Germanicus's enduring popularity.
In late antiquity, the bust was vandalized by Christians, probably during their attack against the imperial cult.

Scenery and imagery from the Hathor temple at Dendera, built in the Greco-Roman period
photos taken by me in August, 2023
Some parts of this temple, when I visited, were off limits. However it was very hard to distinguish what was and wasn’t off limits, so my companion and I wandered everywhere. We also bought passes to the different hidden chambers of the temple; well worth the price in my opinion. You descend or ascend cramped, steep stairs to get to seemingly secret and certainly hidden tunnels filled with vivid imagery of the Gods and worship. Unfortunately, the Dendera calendar filled with zodiacs, has been stolen and replaced with a black cast of what it once was. The original now rests in a museum in Europe.

An ancient gold artifact once owned by King Psusennes from the 21st Dynasty depicts the four sons of Horus worshipping the Eye of Horus.
In Egyptian mythology, the eye was taken by Set during a conflict with his nephew Horus, as recounted in the Legend of Isis and Osiris. However, it was quickly restored to Horus by the god Thoth.
The Eye of Horus is a significant symbol in ancient Egypt, representing the physical well-being of the king, fertility, and victory. It was represented in many tombs and became one of the most common amulets and spells among the ancient Egyptians.

The streets of Pompeii seem to go on forever. This is the only picture I could take that captured that feeling. Breathtaking place; it makes you emotional about the people who lived there.
Only got worse when my friend pointed out the grooves in the fountain from people leaning on it to drink.

A bit different, but thought we might enjoy a 3000 year old (ish) bit of feline propaganda.
