Kye “Sqaishey” Garrett has privated their channel.
Images provided state reasoning, text ID below cut.
❤️a message to you ❤️
hi @ everyone i have been putting off writing this statement as i wanted to know 100% if i was making the right choice & to find the right words (very sorry that i’ve been not communicating properly recently)
after 10 incredible years on youtube, i’ve decided it’s time for me to step back and start something new. this journey has been filled with sooooo much joy, laughter, and connection, and I can’t begin to express how much your support has meant to me over the years.
when i first started, i never imagined how special this community would become… you’ve been with me not just through every video but every huge milestone in my early adulthood. although you didn’t see everything, 17-27 is a transformative time for anyone so it was hard for me to shy away from those changes while having a career online that prioritised honesty. i am deeply grateful for the support in all of these moments, especially the harder times.
i hope you can all respect my decision to hide my channel… at least for now. i’m still processing my feelings & going through personal changes in my life. i’m sorry it’s vague & may even seem sudden but i would appreciate privacy on my reasons “why?”
this decision wasn’t easy, it’s been sneaking up on me for a couple of years now, but i feel ready to explore new paths and new adventures outside of Sqaishey. PLEASE know that everything we’ve built here together will always have a huge place in my heart 💛
i want to say a massive THANK YOU to each and every one of you… your kindness, positivity, and love have made this journey one i will never forget. although i’m moving on, the memories we’ve shared will stay with me forever.
wishing you all so much love and happiness as you continue your own amazing journeys. stay joyful, and keep spreading that wonderful positivity!
keep quacking & keep being kind to yourself & others, Sqaishey Quack 🐥

The Brave Guide, Ch 84 - Brothers in Arms
Ixchel and Valor present her companions with competing visions of courage: that which was and must be lived with, and that which could be in visions of regret. Ixchel knows how tempting (and troublesome) revising history can be.
In Garrett’s voice, she heared Valor. “I really did kill my brother that day,” it said with dark fury. “I should have just let you die.” “Merrill’s working on a cure,” Carver said. “How many times do I have to tell you, you’re not getting rid of me that easy?” “What will the other Wardens think of that?” Valor retorted. “Isn’t that a coward’s way out?” “Are you accusing me?” Carver demanded. “You haven’t done anything to be accused of. Except running from every responsibility you’ve ever had.” “Me?!” Carver barked. “That’s rich coming from you, go-fuck-off-to-a-cave Garrett Hawke.”
The Brave Guide is a canon-divergent Dragon Age longfic. It continues the story of Dead Pasts and Dread Futures, in which Lavellan was sent back in time against her will after the Dread Wolf’s plans destroyed the world.
The series follows Inquisitor Ixchel Lavellan and her battle to find hope for herself, and hope for Thedas. As the world ends, Ixchel is resurrected under mysterious circumstances and is sent back in time to the Conclave. Ixchel is furious, convinced of her own futility, and yet she cannot give up again. These are the stories of how she gets better.

Together Alone, Ch 4: Lost and Found
Chapter Summary:
Bethany learns her brothers were lost in the Deep Roads and then receives an unexpected visitor.
Fic Summary:
A traumatized newly-promoted Knight Captain who only wants to keep the world safe from the terrors of the Fade. A soft-hearted, sharp-minded mage who spent years evading the law. Maybe they don’t share the same fears. But at least they're not alone in being afraid. Or how two people form an unlikely friendship in the worst possible place and change each other forever.
Excerpt below the cut 👇
The letter finds her when she’s cleaning tables after supper, her second week-long rotation on evening chores. The first had been a stint in laundry that she’d been well prepared for. She squeezes and slops the rag against the table, running it up and down in long wet stripes, catching mislaid bits of food in her hands as the templars look on. How strange it is to be watched while you clean up crumbs.
Orsino’s page whisks across the hall without question, a young woman barely older than Bethany. She’d seen her slipping through the Gallows. Bethany’s bunkmate explained she’s not a mage all, but the daughter of a friend of the viscount and she actually lives in Hightown. She presents the letter without comment, but her eyes dart and dodge around Bethany, which makes the mage nervous.
Unable to leave, she breaks the seal over her dripping rag and reads.
Enchanter Hawke,
I regret to inform you that your brothers Garrett and Carver Hawke have been reported dead by expedition leader Bartrand Tethras after a cave-in within the Deep Roads. Their remains have not been recovered. Your mother will be in contact with us regarding funeral services. You can petition to attend with a templar escort if you wish.
You have my heartfelt sympathy,
First Enchanter Orsino
Bethany crunches the letter in her fists, the ink feathering and running under the spatter of her tears. She’d been girding herself for this news for weeks now but it still blows through her like an landslide. A lifetime imprisoned inside this place is nothing compared to losing her brothers. And now both are true.

Excerpt from this story from the New York Times:
Here is an inconvenient truth. For all the noise made by activists, journalists, politicians and even celebrities about the clothing industry destroying the planet, shoppers aren’t listening.
The information is out there if they want it. Google can produce more than 88 million search results on why fashion is bad for the environment, but the world remains in a state of cognitive dissonance, fueled by its voracious appetite for disposable trends. Global apparel consumption, currently at 62 million tons per year, is by some estimates projected to reach 102 million tons annually by 2030.
One problem, say many industry observers, is that much of the messaging about fashion and sustainability can be too boring, too preachy and too easy to ignore. So is it possible to change the way we talk about it?
This week, the outdoor apparel brand Patagonia released a quirky new film that reflects the company’s efforts to reset the conversation. “The Shitthropocene,” a 45-minute documentary directed by David Garrett Byars, is a trippy mock anthropological view of humanity’s consumption habits from our cave-dwelling ancestors through the trendsetting aristocratic court of Louis XIV, creepy fairgrounds, fishing waders with leaky crotches, mindless digital advertising and pretty much everything in between. It will be shown in Patagonia stores across the United States in coming months.
Here's the link to The Shitthropocene. It's about 45 minutes long. Or if you want to watch it now, here you go:

Come get y’all’s portal/ blue sky headcanons!!
I have portal brainrot I’m sorry
— Wheatley LOVES sweets! His favorites are chocolate caramels but he can’t get enough of them after being reunited with his human body (post Blue Sky). In the winter time, Chell bakes gingerbread with him (or rather, he hands her ingredients and keeps her company while she makes the gingerbread, can’t have a repeat of the bread making incident). She taught him how to make hot chocolate and that’s the only thing he can be trusted with to consistently not mess up. He’s pretty good at it too and has a signature caramel cocoa he’s well known for around Eaden.
— Occasionally, when Eaden gets enough sugar shipped in, Chell will bake little tarts for Ellie (and of course, an extra small one for Lionel) and have a little tea party with her, just like a girl’s afternoon. She thinks of little Ellie as a little sister or niece in a lot of regards and Ellie can’t get enough of her, truth be told. She loves that Chell listens to all her creative ramblings. Chell is, after all, a fantastic listener.
— After Chell and Wheatley had their first child, Ellie acted like a big sister and actually passed Lionel down to them.
— One day, Wheatley came back from a day of work at the general store and found their child (now about 8) and babysitter Ellie trying on the Long Fall Boots and nearly had a heart attack after the trauma of watching Chell go through what she did at Aperture. It would have been ten times worse if it had been Chell who came back to that. Still, he freaked out and it made all three of them break down into tears, the kids just out of the fear of “oh shit, dad’s crying, something’s definitely wrong.” He paid them in cookies to never tell Chell about it and proceeded to hide the Long Fall Boots better this time.
— Garrett and Wheatley like to gossip and chitchat in binary about people. It annoys the crap out of pretty much everyone else, particularly Chell. It’s gotten to be a bonding thing with the two of them.
— Foxglove has actually “looked” for Wheatley digitally before! She misses him quite a bit, but has a sort of community with the other radio towers from other outposts.
— Speaking of which, Wheatley sometimes asks to borrow the laptop to chat with Foxglove now that he’s human. He likes filling her in on what it’s like being human and, in true Wheatley fashion, does the majority of the talking. They’re basically pen pals though now!
— Foxglove and GLaDOS also talk from time to time. They get along better than you’d expect, being that she was formed from parts of GLaDOS. What do they talk about? Quite a bit actually! Weather, bits of information Fox picks up from other towers, music, plenty. GLaDOS does more listening than speaking most of the time. Caroline and Foxglove get along better than GLaDOS proper and Fox. Caroline actually asks about how her two humans are doing up there, though Foxglove is wise enough to avoid saying too, too much in case it falls into the wrong hands…
— Wheatley is exceptional at knitting! He has to be in order to make winter clothes that fit him well enough. (Speaking of clothes, no matter what, pretty much everything fits him all wrong no matter what he tries… except for what he knits for himself!)
— P-Body and Atlas still remember the Fall of Eaden and are terrified of humans. They found a Ratman den at one point with a mural of Chell and almost fell into a vat of toxic water from staggering back in fear.
— GLaDOS actually is obsessed with her baby birds and has given them names. They’re Cave, Faithplate, and Neurotoxin. Since they’re corvids, they’ve imitated a few of her words on occasion (she’s so proud of that) and they’ve learned a few of her little songs she sometimes sings to pass the time. She has P-Body and Atlas go up to the surface to harvest some of the grain from time to time to feed them (they hate that; they’re terrified of the surface). She still calls them her “little killers” and “marshmallows” from time to time.
— Caroline binge watches Netflix to keep entertained when hunkering down deep, deep in GLaDOS’s consciousness. She is a big Gilmore Girls fan. Unbeknownst to GLaDOS, they like the same science documentaries. GLaDOS doesn’t know why all the shows that end up being her favorites end up hearted before she ever sees/processes them, maybe the algorithm is just that good!
— Foxglove LOVES music; she’s content to listen to all the lovely music sent out by other outposts all day, passing it to GLaDOS when they talk on occasion like kids passing notes.
— GLaDOS is very girlypop and secretly loves the bubblegum pop anthems (courtesy of Foxglove, of course, no way Aperture’s scientists fed her this stuff). Caroline on the other hand, does not. She’s more of a lofi person.

Blam! You've been Ask Game-ed!
6. Low health/asking for healing
19. Noticing a trap
20. Can’t fit into a small hole
35. How would your Tav/Durge greet a player character if they were a companion at low, neutral, high, or romanced approval?
37. How would they respond to a player character prompting them with, "Tell me about yourself"?
Woo! LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO. I know I don't offer a lot of alternates, but with Rune's speech aphasia there isn't a lot he could say in any given interaction. Some of these were genuinely difficult. 6. Low health/asking for healing Rune: .......Help......p-please..... Garrett: A little help here! Garrett Alt: Pay attention. Garrett Alt 2: Ooof. That's going to leave a mark.
19. Noticing a trap Rune: Wait! Garrett: Well that looks like fun. Garrett Alt: Might want to watch your step. Or don't. It's up to you.
20. Can’t fit into a small hole Rune: *audible scoff* Garrett: Can't get there from here. Garrett Alt: You've got to be kidding me.
35. How would your Tav/Durge greet a player character if they were a companion at low, neutral, high, or romanced approval? Rune (Low/Neutral): *Blank stare intensifies* Rune (High): Yes? Rune (Romanced): *Blank stare intensifies, but with a gentle shoulder pat* Garrett (Low): What do you want now? Garrett (Neutral): You've got five minutes, starting......now. Garrett (High): You've got my attention. Garrett (Romanced): How can I help? I've got all the time in the world for you.
37. How would they respond to a player character prompting them with, "Tell me about yourself"? Rune (Low): Why? Rune (Moderate/High Approval): It's... I can't. Garrett (Low): Oh, I'm not that interesting. All I need is a book and a quiet place to sit and I'll stay out of your hair. Garrett (Moderate): Like I said before, I'm not that interesting. I've got family back in Baldur's Gate, but I haven't seen them for some time now. For the last several years I've done little but travel to research magical histories and artifacts. You'd be amazed at what has been left behind in out of the way places. Shortly before all this unpleasantness started, I found a cave purported to contain the Book of Vile Darkness. It wasn't there, of course, but it was just fascinating to explore. Garrett (High): [REDACTED]

Update on Rook um now all 3 of the Rooks on mine and my husband's game are connected. They're all cousins. We've decided Hawke was actually triplets (Garrett, Marian and we've decided the name Arianna for the third) and each one had their own romance and had sent their kids away in order to protect them. All 3 Hawkes are currently deceased I think is what we've decided on and Varric had to go find them all.
We are going in and planning our world state to our own canon and we've fucked with the timeline just a bit so by Veilguard it's been 21 years since the Deep Roads. Give or take. Because fuck it we ball and also trying to figure out years is confusing to me anyway with how it's done so.
There'd three Rooks - Rook (Bethany), Bishop (Rhendon) and Rider (still debating on a name between Averyl or Valen). Rook is a Dwarf (half-human, looks more like a tall Dwarf that can dream but isn't yknow a mage), Bishop is a human and Rider did actually take on an elvish appearance much to the bafflement of everybody since they typically just look human. They have no idea they're half human.
Rook was with the Lords of Fortune, Bishop the Grey Wardens and Rider ended up with the Crows. Rook had run away when they were a young teen and joined up with them, Bishop was with his uncle Carver in the Wardens and Rider's caretakers got axed or something and the Croes found this tiny toddler flipping them off and decided yknow what you're coming with us kid. Rook is a warrior, Bishop is a mage and Rider is a rogue.
Rook -> Varric/Marian's daughter.
Bishop -> Garrett/Isabela's son.
Rider -> Arianna/Fenris's kid.
The mom's all kinda had to hide their own pregnancies from the world and Marian damn well hid the entire pregnancy from everyone except Aveline and maybe Isabela. Not even her own siblings knew. Varric found out about Bethany on that mission to the fade because Marian knew that it was coming to a point she knew she had to go back for her daughter, despite how crazy everything had been and seeing she was gonna have to stay back finally caved. So Varric went to find his daughter and that's also when Isabela asked him to get Bishop and to find Rider, and he got a tip off either from her or Fenris when they confirmed they found them.
Yet another great story Varric won't tell anyone. Though they will find out.
I'll update with the world state later.

I finally watched Wednesday, and I really love Larissa Weems' charcter.
They kept me guessing with the little crumbs about how she'd had a crush on Gomez, she was obviously still bitter toward Morticia, and she had been the one to point at Gomez as Garrett's murderer. It made me wonder if it would turn out she had framed him or was behind some of the attacks out of jealousy.
But they didn't turn her into a Snape-like character, taking out her grudge against Morticia on Wednesday.
Nor did they do what so many movies do with women; she wasn't driven to become some evil villain out of jealousy.
Instead, while she was clearly a bit resentful of Morticia, she treated Wednesday incredibly fairly. Some of her actions were questionable, but they were done with the best possible motives. And she died giving Wednesday the benefit of the doubt when she really had no reason to.
Think about it. First Wednesday said Wyatt was the Hyde and Dr. Kinbott was Laurel Gates. Then, Wednesday kidnapped and tortured Tyler, who didn't change despite it, and claimed it was actually Tyler who was the Hyde. Then Wednesday said Mrs. Thornhill was Laurel after all? Because Eugene saw someone with red boots at the cave? No one could have blamed Weems for not taking Wednesday's word for it. But Weems was at least willing to hear her out and test Wednesday's theory.
I'm just really sad they killed her character off. It makes sense sort of, but I still would have liked to see her in future seasons.

Dread by the Decade: The Vampire Bat
👻 You can support me on Ko-Fi! ❤️
★★
Plot: When people begin dying of blood loss, a town's residents become convinced a vampire is in their midst.
Review: While its attempt to subvert the genre is commendable, this film is brought down by bad comedic relief and muddled storytelling.
Year: 1933 Genre: Sci-Fi Horror Country: United States Language: English Runtime: 1 hour 3 minutes
Director: Frank R. Strayer Writer: Edward T. Lowe, Jr. Cinematographer: Ira H. Morgan Editor: Otis Garrett Composer: Charles Dunworth Cast: Lionel Atwill, Fay Wray, Melvyn Douglas, Dwight Frye, Maude Eburne
------
Story: 2/5 - The shrill, unfunny comedic relief ruins the film's tone and takes up a shocking amount of screen time. As a result, the characters are unexplored and the story doesn't get the attention it needs to make sense.
Performances: 3/5 - Atwill is solid enough, but Frye's portrayal of a disabled man is hard to watch, Eburne is painfully unfunny, and Wray is as generic as ever.
Cinematography: 3.5/5 - Some creative framing.
Editing: 3.5/5 - Interesting use of wipes.
Music: 2.5/5
Effects: 3/5 - Fun lab effects but the "monster" is odd.
Sets: 3.5/5 - The lab and cave are the stand outs.
Costumes, Hair, & Make-Up: 3.5/5
youtube
Trigger Warnings:
Ableist depiction of a disabled man
Mild violence

In the Shattering of Things, Ch. 62: Vertigo
Summary: Rose navigates the fall out of her handling of Crestwood's mayor, her intensifying liaison with Hawke, a surprise that comes from Skyhold and meets yet another legendary warrior.
Fic Summary: Lady Rose Trevelyan's idle, aristocratic life blinks out in a haze of irrelevance when the breach destroys the Conclave. She may be soft and coddled when she joins the Inquisition, but there's a fierceness inside her she's yet to fully recognize. Armed with only a few relevant skills and the mark that makes her a legend, she is thrust onto a path delivering hope where it’s long been scorched away and finds comfort in the grumpy, handsome stick in the mud charged with her protection and training. As she stumbles her way across southern Thedas, she begins to realize she's tangled at the center of machinations she barely understands, and she's not alone in that. Enter Hawke.
Excerpt below the cut 👇
When Hawke returns, he motions for me alone to follow. We walk silently together ducking protrusions and stalactites and shimming through narrow passages, the lightness of yesterday, the brightness between us cast in the shade of today’s revelations. The doorway we push through is marked with a whitewashed skull with a red streak across its eyes, the old smuggling ring’s stamp.
“It’s us,” he says. A man rises from a makeshift table covered in scribbled and crumpled notes, his features overtaken by the kind of beard one doesn’t choose to have. His armor is nondescript, his Warden credentials hidden away for safety’s sake.
Alistair Theirin.
Another legend.
Perhaps this time I can keep it together. He looks about my age, with dark blonde hair and a noble brow, but his overgrown beard and generally haggard appearance make him look worn beyond his years.
“Maker, man, you look like shit,” says Hawke with a grin.
“Cave chic,” he answers, yanking Hawke in for a firm handshake that quickly escalates into a bear hug. Alistair’s hazel eyes land on me next, nearly as bright and mischievous as Hawke’s and then jump to investigate my hands. At this point it feels like my blush is merely part of my uniform.
“You must be looking for this,” I say, holding up the anchor.
“Maker’s breath ,” he says. “I’ve always maintained there’s too much bizarre shit in the world.”
“That’s me. Bizarre shit,” I laugh. “Pleased to meet you.”
“Rose, Alistair. Alistair, Rose,” says Hawke. “We’re good with first names here, right?”
“Of course we are, Garrett ,” says Alistair pleasantly and I suppress my smile. He comes forward to shake my hand. “I’m glad you’re here. I wish it was someplace less— moldy. And you’ll have to forgive my looks. The combined effect of fugitive life, cave life and a missing wife is pretty potent. If I’d known you were coming I might have broken out the fancy soap.”
“I’m just happy we found you before the Wardens did,” I answer.
“As am I, my lady Inquisitor,” says Alistair.
“Well. Here we all are,” says Hawke. “I’m as eager as Rose is to hear what you have to say about the Wardens. I haven’t heard from Carver. Last letter I received was from the Anderfels. I asked Aveline to try and track him down to convince him to stay far from Orlais, but I’m assuming he told her to fuck right off.”
“As far as I know Carver is back in the Marches,” says Alistair, “But that was months ago. Who knows how far this nonsense has spread.”
“Then we can’t waste time,” says Hawke.
