From the DDT archives(?): not actually DDT, GanPro this time. Sakaguchi just has to give Okatani the signal and he jumps Ohka like an attack dog.

I thought this might be a good place to finally share this project that I’ve been working on! I sort of ran out of time for giffing last year because I started putting most of my free time into learning Japanese, but it ended up really paying off when Mr. Haku left CyberFight, because I was able to start translating a lot things for myself and my friends.
I started a blog to host these translations, and a few of my friends also contributed content, so it became sort of a collaborative project. We have some translations for DDT, TJPW, and GanPro on there. I started off translating for DDT, but when they got English translation on twitter again and rendered me obsolete, I took over with TJPW to save my friend some work.
What I most want to share, though, are my translations of TJPW’s recent press conferences leading up to their 3.19 Ryogoku show tomorrow! I highly recommend reading these, as they offer important context for the matches on that show.
Here’s the March 7 press conference for the TJPW vs GanPro match, and here’s the March 8 press conference for all of the title matches, plus Juria Nagano’s debut match.
If you haven’t been able to really follow TJPW stories recently, I also highly recommend reading Dramatic DDT’s preview of the show, which explains the lead up to everything and summarizes important notes from recent shows and the pressers.
Important qualifier: I am still very much a beginner 😅. My Japanese is not very good, so I still rely a lot on machine translation to help (though I comb over everything as best as I can), and I frequently make mistakes. I have more experienced friends who catch some of them, but editing this stuff takes a lot of time, so take all of these translations with a grain of salt. I’m also completely useless with spoken Japanese, so I can only translate something if I have a written transcript, which means I’m helpless with most of the post-match comments unless they get transcribed on the website.
I do still want to gif more things (I have one overdue gifset that I am planning on finishing), but it might have to wait until I can afford to put more time into it again. In the meantime, though, I hope this blog helps make up for some of the lack of translation, and helps contribute to archiving these stories and making it easier for people to follow them and reference older events (which was part of why I got into giffing in the first place!).

DDT and NOAH TO MERGE INTO ONE SINGLE COMPANY IN SEPTEMBER
So some major news coming out of Japan this morning is that DDT Pro and Pro-Wrestling NOAH are to merge into one big company, which will be known as CYBER FIGHT. The move comes amid the almost devastating tole the COVID-19 pandemic has had financially on parent company CyberAgent, and is a move to streamline costs.
The change will happen on the 1st of September, but according to president of both DDT and NOAH, Sanshiro Takagi, the promotions will continue to operate as separate brands within the promotion, as too will sister promotions Tokyo Joshi Pro and GanPro. Naomichi Marufuji from NOAH, and DDT’s Akito will both be Executive Vice Presidents of CyberFight. Despite them merging into one company, however, Takagi assured us that the styles and content of both DDT and NOAH will remain the same, and that their goal is to run a show at Tokyo Dome.
Well, it’s certainly major news, and in-keeping with the surreal events of 2020 thus far. I hope it all works out well, I really wouldn’t want to see either promotion going out of business, so I’m all for this merger. Even if the name is... unique.
