![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a300f4b6d6dc2ff6ec84eccc19c49f09/f634a8acbed010fc-74/s540x810/419b46d2c562c1fde0aabee93838839b43be2e25.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/49eabadede55be905686b6ed7c46ec97/f634a8acbed010fc-90/s540x810/347574d862f009a7c388bc981235c9e81393a7a2.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/98142cd5f3e97b64d14e9d91eebcd926/f634a8acbed010fc-85/s540x810/cb31057d6dd563b525afcaedf9e90ca90af36d8e.jpg)
4- Pulpo a la gallega/pulpo a feira (en gallego). Que es pulpo cocido y servido en un plato de madera con a sin patata y con pimentón al gusto.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fcec74dff898bb540f982ce68d9dbb00/f634a8acbed010fc-2c/s540x810/a05b16a25c0956c9095a29345615e6c745109cd2.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/05014f78aa222c798c25ee71651d2d7c/f634a8acbed010fc-81/s540x810/c8890039f1f77bbe045648d96c61ee0eef9fe330.jpg)

Astons Specialities brought back the Spanish Chestnut Pork (S$18.90+) with one dollar price difference. This chestnut fed pigs from the autonomous region of northwestern Spain is flavourful and so succulent juicy. Along with the price increase, they also stopped the apple sauce pairing and replaced with a generic brown sauce. :( Picked potato wedges and creamy coleslaw for my two sides to accompany the main course.

Tomino Taberna Gallega
First off, check out my Ride & Review video HERE: My wife took me here for my birthday to try the Vaca Vieja (old dairy cow, popular in Spanish food). Here’s what we had: Empanada with octopus and cheese inside. Really nice. The crust reminded me of pot pie dough. Fried squid on a bed of fried zucchini. This was excellent! Mussels with a pimento broth. Wild mushrooms with sliced grapes and…

The original building is located in Lviv, Ukraine. Rich Renaissance architectural forms combined with Baroque motifs are the main features of the building of the former Galician Savings Bank. The construction of the savings bank, managed by Zygmund Kendzerskyi, was completed in 1891. Since 1951, the building housed a museum, which today is the Lviv Museum of Ethnography and Art Craft.
The facades are decorated with rust made of broken stone, yellow brick, majolica, forged metal decorations, which were made by the Lviv factory of Piotrovich and Schuman. Attention is drawn to the large metal grills on the windows and the wrought-iron gate, made by the Lviv workshop of Jan Dashek.
The corner semi-cylindrical dome is decorated with Leonard Marconi's allegorical sculptural group "Frugality", symbolizing the economic progress of Galicia.
It's hard to believe but I didn't use any pose packs while making screenshots. I tested the gameplay and, surprisingly, sims sat down at the tables normally, and the waiters delivered the food and cleaned the dishes.
This moment was too funny to ignore it.
The rest of the restaurant is occupied by the bar, but sims hardly hang out there.

What differs a Bronze Age Monarchy from a Feudal or Modern State Monarchy? For whatever reson I have always been given the impression that Bronze Age Monarchy is the ancient version of either the former or the later, but that does not sound right.
Yeah, that would be a major misconception.
Bronze Age monarchies:
were far more centralized than medieval monarchies, with large, year-round palace complexes that functioned not just as fortresses but also as judicial centers, religious centers, storehouses, state planning apparati, and so on. To operate all these various functions, they employed a large bureaucracy that had, if not a monopoly, something of an oligopoly, on literacy, numeracy, and higher learning.
were highly involved in planning the economy, from organizing irrigation and other labor-intensive farming practices to keeping detailed records on production and taxation to coordinating the complex network of international trade that regulated the flow of both key commodities like tin but also luxury goods.
had more of a monopoly on military force, especially when it came to elite units like chariots. Training an archer and a driver to work in unison with a team of horses specifically bred to the task and custom chariots was a long and expensive process that only a monarch could provide the necessary surplus food and other resources for.
were not Christian. I can't stress enough how important this was as a structural force - Bronze Age monarchs did not have to deal with a large, European-wide, literate bureaucracy, with immense cultural power, that owned more land than they did. This isn't to say that there was no interaction between the temples and the state - I've talked recently about the tendency of Bronze Age monarchs to either be god-kings or priest-kings - but that the terms of interaction between the two much more heavily favored the state.
By contrast, medieval monarchies - and I'm aware that the term is something of a moving target, because what it meant to be a king in CE 600 is very different from what it means in CE 1100 or CE 1600 - were:
decentralized. They had small, peripatetic courts, and initially almost no bureaucracy. Governing power was much more broadly distributed down to the regional and local level through feudal contracts, and it was a long and very fraught process for the monarchs to gradually wrestle that power back.
much less engaged in the economy. Aside from tariffs and monetary policy, which is important, you don't really see medieval monarchs telling peasants when to plow and which fields (outside of the monarch's own personal fiefs), because that was an interference with the decentralized manorial system. You see fewer and smaller building projects, in no small part because the monarch usually couldn't afford to do them.
had less of a monopoly on violence. While the feudal exchange was supposed to give kings military service in exchange for land, in practice feudal levies could be slow to form, quick to disperse, and very fractious about their terms of service. This meant in practice that the nobility could exercise more hard power than their nominal overlords, which is why noble revolts were a common feature. Similarly, it took a long time for the monarchs to establish the necessary fiscal architecture for assembling professional armies and then eventually turning those professional armies into standing armies and then eventually turning those armies against the nobility - and by that point, we're not really talking about the Medieval period any more.
were Christian. And while there could certainly be exceptions of Emperors who picked Popes (instead of the other way around) or kings who could weirdly judo-flip their piety into Galician-style control of their national church, over time the pendulum definitely swung in favor of the Church having more power than any one monarch. They were wealthy, their wealth tended to grow over time because they were a corporate institution that invested their profits back into the company, they had huge amounts of cultural power, they had huge amounts of political power, and so on.

A woman in Llançà (Comarques Gironines, Catalonia) does a flower offering to the sea during a maritime procession on the day of the Virgin of Mount Carmel. Photo from festes.org.
The 16th of July is the feast of Virgin of Mount Carmel (Mare de Déu del Carme in Catalan), the patron saint of the sea and protector of all the people who work at sea or travel by sea. For this reason, many coastal towns and cities hold processions at sea, where the people who have ships or boats (traditionally it was fishermen, but nowadays people who might have a recreational boat also join) parade at sea following a boat that carries a statue of the Virgin of Mount Carmel, believed to bless the waters.
Besides being a holiday for fishermen, sailors, and everyone who works at sea, the feast is also in remembrance of those who lost their lives there. During the procession, people who have lost a relative or a dear person at sea throw a flower bouquet to the water in their memory. Working as a fisherman or a sailor has been for centuries one of the common jobs in our coast and necessary to give us food, but it was very dangerous. It's because of this danger that the worship of Virgin of Mount Carmel (equivalent to the goddess of the sea in other cultures) is so widespread in the Catalan coast and the name "Carme" (meaning "Carmel") has been for centuries one of the most popular female names in Catalan and other languages of coastal Southern Europe ("Carme" in Galician, "Carmen" in Spanish and Italian, "Carmela" in Italian, "Karmela" or "Karmen" in Croatian, etc).
_____________________________________________________
Nowadays, there is another situation that causes a huge amount of death at sea. Refugees and migrants coming from Africa try to cross the Mediterranean to reach Europe. Because of the legal difficulties in crossing the border legally, many migrants end up trying to cross the sea in bad quality boats usually run by mafias that don't care about their safety, so large amounts of people are crammed into small boats and often drown. In 2023 alone, 6,618 people died at sea trying to reach Spain. If you would like to help rescuing them, consider making a donation to the NGO Open Arms or purchasing something from their online shop. This non-profit non-governmental organization based in Catalonia has been rescuing migrants at sea for years, becoming one of the referent organizations in this.

What do Spanish speakers do when they need to say a adjective but don’t know which gender to use? I started a sentence wanting to say something like “si pierdes toda la vida” or “si pierdes todo lo q tienes” but how can I assign a gender to “todo/a” if I don’t know exactly how I want to finish a sentence? Will Spanish speakers go back and correct themselves on the gender if they change the noun they want to use? Or if I point at an object and say “es bonito/a” without knowing the specific name of the object? Does it default to masculine?
They usually choose the masculine
Technically this is called "neuter gender" or "agender", but it looks like masculine - the idea is that in the absence of a clear noun, the word would turn into the "neutral" form which for most of the time looks masculine
As an example, lo que is "that which" - the lo is the gender neutral thing where there's an abstract or ambiguous noun, so it's "that" but not masculine or feminine; lo que sea "whatever" [lit. "that which it may be"], or lo que quiero decir "what I mean" [lit. "that which I want/intend to say"]
In this case, todo lo que tienes adheres to the lo que so it's "neutral" but looks masculine; while toda la vida is feminine because the noun is clear la vida
Similarly you might see hemos perdido todo "we lost everything" - without a noun, you go on implied masculine until proven otherwise
[Or it could be like todo el día "all day", toda la noche "all night", and then something agender would be more like todo bien "all good" / todo está bien "everything's good"]
...
Same thing with es muy bonito if you don't have the noun or gender, you just pick masculine until corrected
The other way people get around it is to say la persona "person" [feminine], alguien "someone" [masculine], algo "something" [masculine], or la cosa "thing" [feminine] - or a similar kind of noun
In lots of mysteries and things where genders of culprits are ambiguous they say things like el culpable "the guilty person" even though it's masculine, or la víctima "the victim" which can only be feminine even if the victim was a man, and if they're being really vague they're like es una persona muy lista "they're a very smart person"
But if you were in a clothing store and didn't know what something was called you might say la cosa or la prenda "garment", and describe it with feminine adjectives
Or something in general would be algo which is usually masculine, so algo muy precioso "something very precious"
...
There are a handful of times when something unstated is feminine; usually this is what's called "feminine of indetermination" and they tend to be set phrases, mostly adverbial phrases
As an example, tomar (algo) a la ligera is "to take something lightly" - no idea why it's feminine ligera but it is
Same with hablar a solas "to talk one-on-one" or "to talk privately", or hacer algo a ciegas "to do something blindly", or hacer algo a sabiendas "to do something knowing full well"
No real reason why it's like that, it just is
.......Probably the closest to feminine of indetermination you've seen is food styles or cuisines; like (el) pulpo a la gallega is "Galician-style octopus", or (el) arroz a la jardinera "garden-style rice"... cooking styles are usually feminine like this
I think Italian also does this; (el) pollo a la cazadora is "chicken cacciatore" for English-speakers but literally that's "hunter-style chicken"; or (las) almejas a la marinera is "fisherman-style clams" (I hesitate to call it "marinara" but it's the same idea)
There are a handful of these phrases outside of cooking - despedirse a la francesa is understood as "to leave without saying goodbye" but it's literally "to say goodbye the French way"; in English this is "an Irish goodbye"

A proper writeblr introduction
Hello people, you can call me Cosmo. I’m not a spacial doggy, no matter what the gossip says (I'm gonna turn this sentence in my new tagline). I have been around here for a while but I had never dared to do an introduction until now.
What can I say about me? I'm a Spaniard, my home is in Galician. I started to write in English to learn the language but I found out that I liked it.
I'm searching for other amateur writers. I'm really into urban fantasy, specially shapeshifters (you know, werewolves. I haven't gotten over Teen Wolf yet) and romance (with bi character is always better).
I have another blog for NSFW stories: @hotcosmo
My WIPS
Wolf Trip (My current WIP):
Senior year, the last chance to discover your true self before adult life. Jon was ready to enjoy it with epic plans: getting a spot on the basketball team, figuring out what university would be his new place the next fall, and of course, finding the absolute perfect prom date. But, seriously, since when do the plans of a seventeen-year-old boy work out as expected? Instead of parties and dealing with his new status like one of the popular kids, Jon found himself facing the fact that he's not your average human anymore. Romulo, the hot and strong young wolf who decided that Jon's essence was too irresistible not to spice up it with a little bite, had to deal with an emotional teen with a very aggressive newborn inside while they had to sprint across America to find a safe place where Jon can learn how to live in a world bigger than before. A world full of new creatures and magic where your position in the food chain may not be what you expected.
The Imperial Sorceress (complete):
Lady Dominica, High Sorceress of the Empire and the eldest of his coven, and his apprentice Ludovica have to confront a powerful semi-divine creature never seen before in imperial lands which is destroying the military forces of the empire and find out why the creature is helping the alliance of the Southern kingdoms to conquer the city of Lorencia.
Midnight rituals, season 1:
"A witch, a vampire, a werebear, and a human are in a clearing in the middle of a forest…" This could be the beginning of a bad joke or of a riddle; however, the witch was summoning an ancient demon while the human tried to avoid it; the witch and the vampire were in love but they fight more than anything else, and the werebear, well, he is there being a very handsome guy and tried to no one ended up dead. The peace of the small town of Santo Hills (Pennsylvania) is in danger and only the hardly credible team of four supernatural teenagers has some opportunity to avoid a massacre in the town.
Dylan, season 1:
"Do you know this feeling of whatever you do, you're going to fuck it? For me, it's not a feeling it's my day-to-day. Hooking up with someone older, yelling at my social worker, or kissing a girl for whom I feel nothing is only a small part of my problems. The big part is my powers which my family knows nothing about. Fuck, I don't know how I survive until graduation. I should talk to them, should I? Ahhh, fucking l…"
Malicious Wood:
"After Ragnarök, paradise emerged, Yggdrasil blossomed from its ashes, and a new pantheon was constructed, ushering in a new era. But time passed and nothing in this world was created to be at peace forever. Asktré accompanied by his sons Lunnec and Fenrir, return home after an arduous and fruitless journey. Against Aktré's wishes, they are unexpectedly drawn into the investigation of a series of mysterious murders in Odinia, Midgar. Could an Ashman and two hybrids discover the truth behind these heinous crimes? Malicious Wood serves as an enthralling introduction to New Yggdrasil a world base on Norse mythology post-Ragnarök where the delicate balance between Realms is starting to change. Can those born of an old world save a new one?"

some notes:
I generally try to identify places + groups
I try to make conscious decisions about tags that respect cultural identities, consider historical context and reject imperialism. I realize this is impossible and messy and doomed to be inconsistent. choices I've made include one Korea, one Ireland, and multiple tags for separatist states, i.e. Scotland, Catalan Countries.
I am currently unsure when or if it makes sense to tag the "bigger" nation in a post about an autonomous region, ex. China and Tibet, Faroe Islands and Denmark. I want to respect widespread independence movements, but also not become bloated with regional tags. Tibet deserves to be free of China but I have to laugh at modern Texas separatism.
Israel does not get a tag. Jewish diaspora, Free Palestine, genocide, USA, or anti imperialism are used.
I am not always sure when to use the indigenous peoples tag. if I am unsure I will probably leave it out.
except the history and prehistory tag, I currently am not tagging things that no longer exist, ex. Soviet Union, Roman Empire. I may instead tag with the most closely related modern state, ex. Russia, Greece
Tags like EU, UK, Africa, Asia, Latin American, Polynesian, etc. are used in posts that refer to many places/groups collectively ex. Lunar New Year in Asia
I try to tag the country/group that an artist/writer/creator belongs to, ex. a post featuring Baldwin tagged with USA, literature, black diaspora
tags are ever-evolving!
country/place tags:
Africa, Albania, Angolia, Argentina, Armenia, Asia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bhutan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Canada, Catalan Countries, Central African Republic, Chad, Chile, China, Colombia, Congo, Cuba, Czechia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Emirates, Estonia, Ethiopia, EU, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Greenland, Guatemala, Haiti, Hawai'i, Hungary, Iberia, Iceland, India, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Korea, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Maldives, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Mozambique, Namibia, New Zealand, Niger, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Norway, Pakistan, free Palestine, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Thailand, free Tibet, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, USA, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Wales, West Papau, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe
diaspora + ethnic group + cultural group tags:

Galician queer is here.
I'm anxious af, and I'm sure that it's gonna happen. I'm trying to deny, I'm trying to convince myself, that I'm just overdramatic, but it doesn't work, just like on winter of 2022.
At summer, my window is open on ventilation 24/7, but not today.
I feel like that wagner spectacle was made up just for distraction from the current situation on the ZNPP
I don't know what to expect from the next few days or weeks, and I'm afraid.
Terror means fear, and the only thing they good at – spreading it through the world.
"To be a Ukrainian means to be constantly in a state of proving your right to exist." Volodymyr Vynnychenko.
I am probably one of those people who are so used to all this (which sounds terrible, "used to war") that the last thing that keeps me afloat is art as a process and a two-litre bottle of Coca-Cola. Of course, I can't say I'm ready to accept my death and turn into radiation dust. The worst thing is that my death will not be a reason to condemn russia and its citizens. People will continue to masturbate to the "russian aesthetic" and the red ties of the pioneers. Most people just don't like to hear about someone's mass death while sitting in sunny Florida (I'm just saying, no offence to Florida).
But we don't panic, we fill our cellars with first aid kits and food and don't worry, I hope there will still be a need for artists in the post-apocalypse)

This happens in Galicia too, one of the northernmost regions of Spain. It's called "La vergüenza del gallego", the shame of the Galician.
We will NOT take the last piece of food in the tray. We all suddenly become stuffed. Couldn't eat a bite more.
It'll go back to the kitchen.
So in Minnesota there’s this cultural taboo about taking the last piece. If there’s a group and everyone orders pizza, typically one slice will not be eaten. At the office if someone brings donuts, the last donut will be left alone. Possibly cut in half. Then that half cut in half, but always leaving at least a little on the plate. The reason is it’s considered impolite because someone else might want it. To take the last piece is a desperate thing to do. There’s even an expression: “I wasn’t raised by wolves.” Anyway, here’s the best local facebook post going around right now.

Remember how I said I desperately wanted something sweet yesterday?
Guess what.
TODAY IS SAINT NIKOLAUS DAY!! +w+
Which means our caretakers gift everyone a chocolate Santa Clause!! Normally it's something reserved for kids on this day, since Saint Nikolaus was very fond of children, but we also get a chocolate Santa Clause every year. I completely forgot!
Of course I instantly gourged on it (I didn't eat everything though: Gotta keep something for Sunday too!) And it feels sooo good qwq Together with the also very sweet and adorable bunny alien stage update, it was quite the treat!
Well...I know I normally shouldn't eat sweets because of my Diabetes but...I can't help myself u_u Winter season is chocolate season, so...(I'll try to keep my shit together after this chocolate. After this...)
SAE USED BELLY DRUM! SAES ATTACK RAISED CRITICALLY!
Jokes aside, I am also really looking forward to eating classic galician food at my parents house like pulpo and caldo. (Not together...separate, hehehehe)
Specially the caldo. My parents always buy greliños in cans, and ask my grandma to send us lacón. What would we even do without her? (She's already 90 though...but she's still got more energy than even her grandgrandchild, who is 18 rn)
Gaaaah! I don't know if it's the sugar or just the great day I'm having right now (or both) but I'm feeling happy and energized! These days I also sleep really well...!
Well! Just wanted to share this happiness! (And inmortalize it, so I can look at it whenever I feel sad...!)

El Camino de Santiago - SJPDP > Santiago de Compostela
Day 28 - 12th September - Ferreiros > Eirexe
Day 29 - 13th September - Eirexe > Ribadiso
Day 30 - 14th September - Ribadiso > Lavacolla
Day 31 - 15th September - Lavacolla > Santiago de Compostela
Slept in late at albergue, left around 8am, into the misty rain, which didn't last too long. Quick walk to the 100km to go marker. Hilly up and down into Portomarin. A really steep descent - apparently dangerous - down to the bridge into town. Then a quick run up the stairs, and we head out of town. Stop at Castromajor for lunch - burger - and then at Ventas de Narón, and had Cebriero cheese, anchovies, olives and tostadas, before the final 4km to Eirexe.
Grown a large blister on my heel, big 34km day tomorrow. Went to pub across road for dinner, thought we had ordered a 4 cheese pizza, ended up having a 4 type pizza which was good! One sardine, one olives, mushrooms, and one meat.
Started out in the dark, undulating paths, quite cold - I had to wear sandals with my blister, chilly toes! At 7km we got into Palais del Ray and found all the people. It was horrible, they were everywhere - some big school groups, and none would move to the side, took hours to pass. Stopped for snacks at Casanova for snacks, and Mileda for lunch. Found a local place called Meson o Toxo, where we had menu of the day. I had Galician soup, meat, and a Santiago tart to finish. Rest of the walk was pretty, with nice woody sections. Had two breaks in the last 11km - one calippo, one beer.
Leaving Ribadiso in the dark, nice stars above us. As we walk into the next town, we saw they had a huge fiesta last night - missed it!! Have decided that I want to extend the walk to the coast, to either / both Fisterra / Muxia. Less crowds today, was a good walk. Stopped around 20km for lunch - couldn't find places serving food, bought some lettuce and had sandwiches, nice picnic in the forest. Arriving in Lavacolla, albergue is nice, right on the main road. Fail a bit trying to get dinner, but get fed eventually - late. Big serving of calamari, and some baked sea bass.
Late start, nice sunrise, only 10km to go. Lots of the Km markers are missing on the way, which is a shame. Suddenly we are in the big city, we head to the square outside the cathedral, then to the pilgrim office to get our certificates. We made it We wander to go to the mass, and find a crazy huge queue - decide to come back for evening mass.
Have a drink, naps, early dinner, then to mass. A lot was not in English, so it was difficult to follow along. It was interesting to see MOC at church, new experience.
