If you don't know why it's crucial to do this right now: The lead graphic designer for S2, Mickey Ralph, posted on Twitter about heading back to Scotland (where GO is filmed), and encouraged the fandom to start showing the love. We can't know for sure where the Amazon decision-makers are looking, but the # of watchlists the show is on on a website they own is a good bet.

Good Omens S3 has been officially put on a production pause.

To all of my Good Omens darlings out there, take a breath and feel the comforting hug I'm sending your way. 💖🫂💖 Everything will be alright. 💖🫂💖 Production pauses happen, and this one, I think, is perfectly reasonable.

After everything that has come out about Gaiman, it would be a blatant disregard of moral standing to keep him on the project. As he is the present show runner, removing him is a big upset to the show's production structure. It will take time to make the proper adjustments if that's the issue at hand. (I'm pretty positive that this must be the cause.)

So, don't panic, my darlings! 💖🫂💖 Give this time to breathe, and trust that the right choices for GO and its cast/crew will be made behind the scenes. I love you all dearly! 💖🫂💖

I am truly a nobody in the vast fandom that is GO. I stand on the periphery reblogging things with thirsty tags and reading fics. However, I love this book and show with my whole heart.

I am standing here holding both ends of the dialectic: I am sad, devastated that we won’t get our 6 episodes and all the lovely bits that will need to be cut. I am sad we won’t have more than 90 minutes of David and Michael acting out the characters that they and we love so dearly. I am exhausted that another fandom has been hurt by the bad actions of one man. And my heart aches for the victim survivors.

And, too, I am relieved and grateful that those who could fought bts for us to even get those 90 minutes. I am grateful we get to see Terry’s dream ending and David and Michael together on our screens again. I am aware (though realize I don’t know the full details) of how close we came to getting nothing at all. 90 minutes is a short movie but I remember so much can happen in a movie and all the world building has been done.

Outside and beyond this dialectic, I want to express gratitude to the fandom. The bits that I see from where I stand on the edges is a delight. I see people giving others permission to mourn and permission to celebrate and the nuance to recognize both can be true at the same time. I see posts encouraging others to have faith that those bts love this story as much as we do (if not more) and as a result we are not facing total cancellation by Amazon.

I see fans stepping in to provide comfort and reassurance where before we may have turned to the one man who nearly wrecked this all for all of us. Many looked up to him as a type of parent figure, especially queer people who may not have had a supportive parent in their own lives. And I see the fandom as a whole stepping into the void that was left. He didn’t make GO and the fandom the magical place it is, the fans have done that.

And for that, I am endlessly grateful.

You know every single fandom ever has done the merman AU. There is a mountain of fanfiction and fanart out there for merman AUs. You think of a popular ship, I guarantee you there is merman AU fanworks of it.

OFMD just decided to bring the merman AU to canon for a hot moment. A bold move. A batshit crazy move. A fucking power move in my opinion. Anyone doubting this show was for fandom can no longer doubt it. Call it cringe or embarassing all you like, but I am so fucking impressed they did that. Amazing. 10/10 no notes. Sorry to any Kiwi's present but Rhys Darby makes for a very hunky merman too. They fully dedicated themselves to getting New Zealands funny uncle into a proper silicon merman tale, complete with pretty flowy fins and actual GLITTER and made him swim up to Taika Waititi underwater in a recreation of that scene from Splash. No one is doing it like them. I think the only way a show could top this is somehow bringing omegaverse to the silver screen... but that is perhaps a tad too far across the fandom/canon divide!

Will Good Omens S3 air in 2025?

Amazon owns IMDb, and this is what the IMDb entry for season 3 has changed to:

It certainly makes sense that, since 90 minutes takes much less time to shoot, and less time in post-production, than 6 episodes, we SHOULD get the revised season 3 more quickly than planned, so... it could reasonably be true! If so, that would be a much-needed silver lining to this whole painful situation!

UPDATE! They've added it to the main Good Omens page on IMDb as well!
