surprise date for kita

hi!! sorry this is super duper late but like, ilysm kita i'm sorry for not posting on your birthday thank you for being such a strong, humble, caring foundation for your team. i really admire your leadership and devotion to your routine and i just wanna give you a million kisses ahhhhhh

kita x f!reader

today is kita's birthday. your kind, caring, responsible, and stoic boyfriend is honestly a simple man. he sticks to routine and is honestly grateful and happy with even the smallest surprise or gift. of course, you want to go above and beyond for your boyfriend because duh, it's your boyfriend!! he may disagree, but he deserves the world and you want nothing more than to give it to him. and after a week of planning and asking his friends and family for advice, you set up the perfect birthday for him.

as always, kita wakes up at 5:30. knowing this, you wake up at 5 and make your way to his house with the cake and balloons you got the night before. after quietly knocking on the door, his grandma let you in and you thank her as you set the things down on the table before giving her a hug. you quietly converse and agree that she would wake him up and hold the balloons while you hold the cake with the candles lit up.

the two of you sneak into his bedroom and his grandma gently shakes him awake. "shinsuke? it's time to get up." you coo softly at the sight of your boyfriend slowly opening his eyes and yawning. he does a little stretch before his eyes land on yours.

"y/n?" he rubs his eyes gently and you smile. "happy birthday shinsuke! make a wish, my love." he smiles softly and closes his eyes to make a wish. it takes him a minute, but he blows out his candles and smiles. "are ya proud of me, shinsuke? i finally woke up earlier than ya." he nods and stands up. "i'm so proud of you, my love. thank you for taking the time to wake me up with a cake and balloons. i appreciate it so much." you blush and set the cake down on a table so you can hug him. "of course i would take the time to prepare something for ya. i know you're not one to have a big flashy celebration, but i wanted to do something big for ya. so the three of us are gonna make breakfast before we go to school alright? what would ya like?"

kita studies your beautiful face, taking in as much as he can and looking at you with such love and adoration that your heart can't help but melt. "i think that tamago kake gohan would be just fine." he kisses the top of your head and takes the cake to the dining table. you happily trail behind him and hum as you help his grandma tie the balloons to various chairs, table legs, and hooks. kita takes out the ingredients needed as you set up the table and his grandma cooks the rice. it may seem like a simple and quick breakfast, but really kita wouldn't have it any other way. here he was making breakfast with two of his favorite people so he really couldn't be any happier this morning.

once the food is served and placed on the table, the three of you sit down and after a quick "thank you for the meal", you all start eating the food and have a little bit of cake afterwards.

once you and kita arrive at school for early morning volleyball practice, kita is surprised to see everyone there with the gym all set up. "happy birthday, kita-san!" this alone makes kita tear up a little bit. seeing all his friends and teammates in the gym all prepared and there for him to wish him a happy birthday just makes his heart burst with happiness and pride. "this is for you, kita-san." atsumu sports a light blush out of embarrassment as he hands kita a small paper bag containing his present. the rest of the team hands him their presents, with yours being the last one. kita had already opened the other presents but takes the time to inspect the simple black and white wrapping paper before opening the present.

kita stares at the now opened present while the rest of the team crowd around to look at what you got your boyfriend, only for them to burst into laughter. you got him a book on crops and other plants and how to care for them.

"man, ya would've thought that kita-san's girlfriend, and not to mention our manager, of all people woulda given him the best present but instead he gets a book on plants" atsumu guffaws before he's elbowed in the stomach by aran. "don't be rude, tsumu. i'm sure that l/n-san has a perfectly good reason for giving him that book." aran looks at you sympathetically but is still trying his hardest to contain his laughter with samu and ginjima. suna is taking pictures and videos of the whole scene while oomimi looks at you concernedly.

kita clears his throat, silencing the entire team before you could make a retort. "actually, this is exactly what i wanted. i've mentioned to y/n about a week ago that i wanted to learn more about proper care for my plants and crops." he turns to you while the rest of the team is dumbfounded. "thank you, pretty girl. this is perfect." you sigh in relief and he gives your lips a soft peck. "now let's get to practicing, shall we?"

after school, you take the team to the nearby restaurant that serves really good tofu burgers and ramen. of course, the team eats a ton of food (which really makes you question how you haven't gone broke yet) and you smile as kita looks more content than ever, eating a tofu burger with his girlfriend and his team. "thank you, y/n. really, thank you for taking care of me and making this birthday of mine absolutely amazing. i love ya so much."

Time for more torture of a little boy power boosts for Gohan, I guess. ... Aw, hon. Trauma bonding is a harsh mistress.

Yamcha, what’s this weak shit. At least work in shifts with Spot Monkey in the grav chamber. You were able to do ten, start at 11 and go from there. ... Well, at least until Spot Monkey blows himself to shit.

Ahhhhhh, relief.

.... Spot Monkey has a dream where he doesn’t understand he needs to confront his own idiot ego. Seriously. Your martial arts would weigh a lot less without that huge burden.

They’re sending a ten-year-old because Chichi won’t train, Yamcha refuses to try and do or surpass what Goku achieved, everyone else is busy farting around without direction, and no one thought to ask Kami anything or go to New Namek or even talk to Kaiou, who seems pretty lonely. -_-

Last Time, Trunks delivered his message and flew off into the future, which is hopefully no longer awful.

This time, I hope we actually get to see on-screen training because that’s been sorely lacking of late.
