here's gwilin and lei having a little heart-to-heart in the cemetery behind the temple of mara, from the next chapter of Among The Many Lost Souls:
"What were you, if not enraged, earlier? With the girl?" "That was the only time I've lost control like that." "And it will not be the last." Gwilin sighed and buried a hand in his hair. He propped up his head, poising his elbow on his knee. "I won't let it happen again. Someone has to keep this guild from falling apart." "This burden, why do you think it yours to bear?" "Because I can't leave. Not with Mercer at the helm. You don't know what he's done." "The rape?" "Yes, the–" He couldn't echo the word. "Gwilin, I don't doubt you've experienced far more than is fair for any one soul to be subjected to, in the short time you've been a vampire. The plights of my own life necessarily outnumber your own, however… it is not with pride I would admit my earliest dealings. The ones preceding my decision to remove myself from mortal affairs entirely. I don't remain withdrawn in this way because it is easy. I do it because I have found it more tenable than facing the carnage inevitably following the pursuit of any of my desires. You yourself are living proof of this. I desired, fleetingly, not to take your life. I felt the strings of my heart tugged on by the frail pleas of a mortal, and have thus engendered a suffering within you, and within the world, that is incalculable." "Do you mean to say our desires are meant to be suppressed?" "I am saying we have desires, and turning from them can be just as disastrous as freely indulging them. I don't think my turning from them will save me, Gwilin, or anyone around me. I simply find the turning more bearable." Lei watched Gwilin gently rise. He stopped an arm's length from him, attention then wandering toward the mausoleum. "I suspect you don't share my sentiment." "I think I do, and I don't. If anything has helped keep me sane these past few months…" "…it's the girl." "And Brynjolf." "Do they move you?" Then he murmured what he really meant. "Is it love?" "They're both… very pretty." “Yes, but do they haunt you, Gwilin? Does the mere thought of them awaken feelings in you you’d never known lay dormant? In moments of silence, do you find yourself craving their mouth, their voice, their hair?” Gwilin furrowed his brow, like the thought of such feelings being within his reach was beyond comprehension. “I crave blood. Sylvie gives it to me. I crave sex. Brynjolf gives it to me. I can’t ask for more. Not from this pale shadow of a life you’ve given me.” “Oh, Gwilin. You can always ask for more…”

Adam Warlock :^)
The free space is for :
🌌🌠⭐✨💫 SPAAAACEEEE 💫✨⭐🌠🌌
for him to fly around, wax poetic, philosophize and drown in cosmic existentialism!
(the lost potential and writers dropping the ball-spots are the inherent reality that comes with mainstream superhero comics, some good some bad, some writers and artists whose takes we prefer and some we don't)
Adam... my golden boi, my glamrock space jesus, my spiritual vampire, my ferrero rocher... have some reasons I love him in no particular order:
He's the reason I came to tumblr in the first place so I owe him for all the incredible people I've met on here since *points at you edith* Even my username is based on his vibes.
I love his design (well some of them), the floofy 80's mom hair, the eyeliner, the wizard cape, the lil skull brooch, the red and gold (and sometimes black) colour palette, etc
I love his relationship with the soul gem (he feels naked to me without it) and how it introduced the whole concept of infinity gems into the universe
I love how he's always an outsider, always apart, I love his contradictory nature: how he's the avatar of life but is unable to truly enjoy life; how he craves peace and quiet and yet is constantly being pulled to take part in universe-shattering conflicts; he's the master of the soul gem and thus has insight into other people's souls and yet is unable to truly connect with most beings, he's Thanos' self appointed psychologist and is way worse than him, etc
On that last point I love his constant mental breakdowns and I love that his head is a mess. Adam travels to Thanos' mind and it's regular goth shit with skulls and stuff, but when Thanos travels to Adam's mind he's like "whoa dude! this is fucked up!"
I love that he can't stay alive for more than 5 minutes at a time, shout-out to his tombstone for when he was only 10 years old, actual literal baby boi!
I love his journeys of self discovery that helped at a time where I was going on some introspective journeys of my own
I love that this cosmic being of incomprehensible power is afraid of women and relationships, he can deal with the fabric of the universe breaking, that's easy compared to feelings
I love his soon to be 50 year long incredible slow-burn relationship with Thanos they come in a package do not separate them, I love the similarities between the two and how they understand each other completely in spite of their differences, I love how they'd rather blow up the universe than resolve their issues without making it everybody's problem ;)
On that note, I love them finishing each other's sentences
Also on the similarities point, I love you “It wouldn’t be the first seed to his own destruction I’ve seen Thanos plant. I fear it is a trait I have in common with him.”
I love you "The Talk", “I know you as no other being in the universe does, better than even you do yourself!” the three pages that probably made me want to know all about them
I love the - largely criminally unexplored - Adam, Thanos and Mistress Death relationship, mostly on Death and Adam's side
I love how when Adam became God™ he thought the wisest thing to do to go about his new responsibilities was saying: fuck gender! , and get rid of them messy feminine and masculine traits of his
On that note I love that two huge marvel summer events were about said masculine (the magus), and feminine (the goddess) traits fucking over the universe (Infinity War and Infinity Crusade consecutively) and Adam eventually accepting them as part of himself instead of shunning them in the end
I love the holy trinity that is Adam, Gamora and Pip, my beloved trio... how they're always there for him no matter what they love his ass so much, look at this art, Adam's cape is for wrapping his loved ones with
I love you Adam and Gamora 💛💚💛💚💛💚 I love you "From Gamora I am discovering that there is more to life than action and adventure, strife and conflict. I never realized that mere words or a touch could prove to be such subtle treasures. Keys to unimagined happiness."
I have a soft spot for you Roy Thomas/Gil Kane Adam, you like many other Adams, had great unrealized potential
I love his sadomasochistic tendencies (lmao get crucified idiot, more than once btw!) and his self-destructive tendencies
I love how 90's!Adam took a new look at Thanos and went "I can fix him, I can make him worse", and it has been that way ever since, just inserting himself in Thanos' life any chance he gets... the way they self-destruct without the other
I love you exchange between Adam and Thanos that goes: “Travel well and safely, my friend.”
“Friend? Yes, I guess that is what we are.”"
I love you ending of Infinity Gauntlet
I love that the first thing Adam does upon arriving at an alien planet is start petting a cat, he's just like me for real
I love you relationship with whiny baby ass Eternity, old divorced couple dynamic my beloved
I love you "Look at yourself, Warlock! You've always been a creature of passion and excess! You either love dearly or hate viciously". Adam's holier-than-thou, self-righteous indignation, my beloved.
I love that Adam and the Infinity Watch tape low budget pornos in order to pay rent to Mole Man, their landlord
I love you "Death holds no terror for me. It's life I fear":
I love you endless cycles of death and rebirth, they're not uncommon in superhero comics but what I love is how being unable to truly die shaped his character and worldview on life (and I love how scared he was of suddenly dying when the prospect of no coming back this time arose, it didn't last though lol some amazing potential there that went unexplored right after it came up):
I love you Princess Bride meme that fits Adam and Thanos so well "- You mock my pain! - Life is pain, anyone who says otherwise is obviously selling something!”
I love you "I have no dreams/You know I've always wished to be longed to be normal", the whole thing really the way Thanos is trying to reach out to him at the end with his hand stretched out shut uuuuuuppppp
#I COULD GO ON AND ON YOU KNOW HOW IT IS EDITH BUT TY SO MUCH FOR THE ASK#edith#asks/replies#adam warlock#ask game#my internet sucks right now so I'm slowly going through these blorbo bingo cards

Jurassic Park is culmination of 80's Action Feminism
I think it's pretty neat that thing that the 80's became known for was it's special brand of feminism for white women. Halloween(70's but whatev), Nightmare on Elm Street, Alien, Aliens, Terminator 2. They were films that took And it lead into a series of great choices in the 90's like La Femme Nikita, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Leon aka The Professional. But I think this trend really peaked in 1993 with Jurassic Park. If you don't want to listen to me wax poetical about it, get out now. This is not a complaint thread. It is my rare gushing. Despite how some people may view Jurassic Park, it has no singular lead. Ellie Satler is in just as many scenes as Alan Grant, introduced at the same time, and actually has more sequences where she takes the charge than Alan. Lex, while quiet and kind of reserved for a lot of the script, actually is responsible for doing more things than her brother Tim. Only male characters die, and they almost all die of their own incompetence. And all of the dinosaurs, aka the scary villains, are female. Denis Nedry is annoying and adds a layer to the world, but again dies by his own stupidity. Let's look at Ellie first. Let's assume she was slightly older than Laura Dern was when she filmed. That puts her in her late twenties. Meanwhile, Grant would be in his mid to late 40's. (1*). This puts their dynamic in a strange place since they seem to have a romantic vibe, but Ellie is talking about one day having kids. It would, in fact, be about seven years later when she would. If Ellie is in her late twenties this conversation of children means that she actually put her education and her work ahead of the prescribed gender notions. Jump forward, on the Helicopter it is Alan Grant who can't figure out how to work a seatbelt. Ellie just kind of looks at him like 'Oh my god old man, you are embarrassing me.' And as they are traveling in the jeep Ellie is busy examining extinct plant life. She is looking at it and studying it. Grant see a revived dinosaur and just stares Gobsmacked. He even has trouble standing and talking. We see later Ellie talking to scientists about Science. She isn't just sitting back waxing philosophically like Ian Malcolm who likely spends half his time going 'Why the fuck am I here, I do maths not dinosaurs'. Ellie also waxes philosophical when the conversation turns to it. She doesn't lead the charge when it comes to doing reckless things like jump out of a moving vehicle, or stopping a tour prematurely and possibly breaking safety features, but she'll join in when it is needed. Moreso, when they go to talk to Doctor Harding about the sick Trike, she's the one who is immediately like I may be a paleobotanist, but damn it I'm going to be a paleobiologist today. She starts helping the vet, she is looking into things that could be wrong. Grant just acts like a kid and hugs the god damn sick dinosaur. You don't even know what it's sick with. You might have just gotten dinosaur herpies. You don't know. You don't. I also want to appreciate that the reason Ellie shows an attraction for Ian isn't because he's sexy (It's Jeff Golblum so, duh.) but because he's intelligent and willing to explain a complex idea to her when she doesn't understand. He doesn't talk down to her. And she wants to learn. So later she shows up back at the Command Center, before the vehicles stop, but before they shut off the power. The logic here is a bit strange but whatever. The electric RangeRovers get stuck and as soon as the opportunity to go help shows up, she volunteers and goes to look for the lost Grandkids. she knows her life is going to be in danger. She goes anyway. She loses a few cool points because she almost gets her, Ian, and Muldoon killed during the T. Rex chase, but it's just such a cool scene that I can't fault her character for being scared of a fucking T. Rex. She gets back and is helping Ian when he's injured. Again, Muldoon is going to go on another scary dinosaur adventure and she joins him in the quest to go save the day. Which she does. What does Muldoon do? Get eaten. What did Mr. Arnold do? Get Eaten. Genaro? Eaten. Ian Malcolm? Basically Eaten, but the power of Golblum kept him from dying. When she, Grant, and the kids are reunited the big battle in the computer room happens. I'll come back to this in a second. I want to detour over to Lex Murphy. Lex is a 14 year old girl who considers herself a hacker in 1993. Lex would be a god damn vision today, in 1993? She's basically the most bad ass. She's traumatized, but still maintains being a bad ass all movie. She's totally willing to climb an electric fence. It freaks her out to pet a dinosaur at first, but she's fine watch Gallimimus flock. But when we get to that amazing Kitchen Scene? She's the one with the great ideas. Tim's plans are let's make noise and almost die and let's run into the freezer and almost die, again. Lex, on the other hand, uses mirrors and sets a trap for a very smart killer. She then rescues her brother and they meet back up with Ellie and Grant in the computer center. While in the computer Center, we get the next great moments. Lex hacking the mainframe and Ellie being a badass with an automatic shotgun. In the final confrontation with the raptors, it ends up being the Tyrannosaurus who saves the god damn day. She does it again in Jurassic World. Now I'm not saying this film is a bastion of Feminism. Again, the lack of Women of Color and Trans women calls that out. It is even questionable if the film even passes the bechdal test. But, I still love it. And have seen it more than any other movie. Fun story: as a kid I had to leave the theater during the T. Rex attack because I was five and I got scared. (1*) Holy shit. I totally thought they were around the same age, maybe 10 years apart and put Ellie closer to early 30's. Definitely would not have guessed she was 25 in that movie.
