though i have to say i disagree with the part about keith not acknowledging her situation because personally i believe he did after she explained it to him in the pod. he cares about her ofc but he was ignorant to the exact level of her suffering until he sat down and had a conversation with her about it. (he clearly has empathy issues like hunk) but theres really nothing he could have done nor said about the situation considering being galra is just apart of who he is.

okay yeah i totally agree with you actually that he did understand because of the pod scene. and i also totally agree that he and hunk share issues regarding empathy! i remember reading a post about that somewhere, i think its in my queue or in my likes lol. i think what i shouldve actually focused on instead of not saying he acknowledged it (bc ur right, he did i honestly just forgot lol), but rather his selfishness regarding how he handled it later on? 

mostly because like that happened before the official galra reveal/the blade episode. i think immediately after was his and hunk’s episode and he treated allura being mad at him as some personal slight against him instead of thinking from her pov, which he clearly understood from the pod, until hunk had to remind him of the fact that she doesn’t hate him, but just needs time. i think keith is one of those people whose first instincts regarding conflict is to get defensive or angry. 

(i like to think of keith’s face when lance pointed out that he was impulsive and was probably going to get hurt when going to the bom base, while keith was probably thinking what does it matter anyway my lion is the only one who can get through and shiro already decided. BUT THAT’S JUST HOW I INTERPRETED IT. also keith getting angry at pidge for wanting to leave because it didn’t make sense to him why she’d want to leave for her family when zarkon was still around and could just take it away again + a mix of his abandonment issues lol. also his first instinct is to yell at allura from what i remember of one of the earlier scenes after ulaz(i forget his name sometimes OOP) sacrificed himself. SORRY MY EXAMPLES GOT LONG BUT YA)

because like you said, it took until the pod scene for him to understand why she’d be so apprehensive, but then... he never tries to rectify his behavior from before the pod, and after the galra reveal he needs to be reminded why allura doesnt actually hate him, but that it’s just a shock. and you’re right, there’s nothing he could’ve said or done to rectify the situation about allura dealing with the fact that one of her teammates is of the same heritage as the people who murdered her family. i do think he could’ve put himself out there more in order to smooth things over and make an effort to regain allura’s trust though, instead of letting allura do the work. i do like that allura apologized for her anger towards keith, because while it was understood, it wasn’t exactly fair considering keith had no inkling of an idea until around that time, but i really wish they would’ve had keith apologize and work on the relationship also yknow?? IT COULDVE BEEN SO GOOD FOR BOTH OF THEIR DEVELOPMENTS AND IM SO SAD ABOUT IT STILL.
