My first set of twins are 18! They are honestly my biggest testament on how far I’ve come in my faith. When they were born, I was panicking because Chukwuma and I agreed to have 3 children, but on my third pregnancy, I ended up with twins! When they were born, I was terrified we wouldn’t manage having them and there wasn’t enough room in our house for them. Now that God has blessed me with 10 children, I have no clue why I was stressed over 4! They both were consistently the top students in Onyeka Academy, so I think our other kids will miss having them at the school of our dining room table to help them out with difficult assignments. Chidi’s enrolled in an online university studying political science and will move out upon the completion of his program, and Adaeze will stay here with us until God brings her husband. God willing it’s soon!
Tumblr media
Adaeze: Mom, Dad, I’m going to college.
Tumblr media
Breyonnah: WHAT?!
Chukwuma: Absolutely not! Have you lost your mind?
Tumblr media
Adaeze: Not at all. I applied to Foxbury. I got in. I’m going. You can’t stop me.
Tumblr media
Chukwuma: I’m in charge here and I say no!
Adaeze: I’m 18. An adult. You aren’t in charge of me anymore at all. I’m packing my bags and taking the bus to Britechester in the morning.
Chukwuma: You can’t even afford this!
Tumblr media
Adaeze: Oh but I can. I got a scholarship to cover housing and another one to cover tuition for two years. I can take a loan for the rest. Foxbury is the best school for STEM in Simerica. 95% of students are employed a month after graduation, 100% within the year, so I’ll easily be able to afford to pay them off. I’m going. It’s final.

Rams' 4 Bands
This is a long one folks. I had so much fun with it, I hope y'all will too! I'm putting it under a read more because (and this is a warning) it is long. And all the art you'll see is mine (admittedly it's only four pieces but 🤷‍♂️)
Tagging: @choicesbookclub
Tumblr media
Summary: A rather established band with pop rock aesthetic. Rams found them in ~8th grade and has been an avid fan since! Right now, she's listening to their latest album: Solitude.
Band Name: +Eyes+ Members:
Adaeze Okeke "Iris" Leontes Valjean "Lens" Dieuwe Antema "Optic"
Latest Album: Solitude Songs In The Album: Keep Quiet, At Night, Things Stir, With Mal Intent, Interlude, Twilight Hour, Moonset, You Know Too Headcannons:
This band exists in the magickal world and are better known there! Their Tuneless music doesn't include Phono magick which often makes the sound feel 'lacking.' When Rams discovered this, xe reexperienced all their music 'properly' and will admit that it's much better on Phono than not. It feels complete.
Tumblr media
Summary: Still underground, Buried Alive is a new band trying to gain a little following. Rams only heard of them through a friend of his who was friends with the band members. They only have four albums so Rams is starting with their first: BROKEN BONES.
Band Name: Buried ALIVE Members:
Ji-Woo Min Gang Deadweed Nkiruka Thorn
First Album: BROKEN BONES Songs In The Album: Mary's Strange Daughter, The Pastor's Sermon, My Witch Hunt, Sticks and Stones Headcannons:
They have a very ballad/tragic style. Each of the listed is songs is 9+ minutes long. Rams isn't sure how they feel about it yet but it's... not bad. It grows on them with each re-listen. The cover is homemade. They're trying their best, okay?
Tumblr media
Summary: This band has the oldest members of all the bands Rams has listened to. The duo is 76 and 81 years old and their still going strong. Rams started listening sometime around sophomore year of high school.
Band Name: Sickening Sugar Members:
Immy (76) Mal (72) Nia (Deceased) Tyril (Deceased) Aerin (Deceased) Valax (Deceased)
Latest Album: Coffee + Tea Songs In The Album: Filter Me Out, Divide My Mix, Stir It In, No More Cream, Pieces of Crystal, Hot Bitter Drink, Choke and Choke Headcannons:
They're an old queer band though they were only moderately known in the 50s and 60s. That changed with the AIDs epidemic which claimed four of the six members lives leaving only Immy and Mal. Post-death, Sickening Sugar released a single (the last one to feature all members voices) titled 'What Do Mean? There's Still Six of Us'. It quickly gained traction and catapoulted the now duo into the centre of the LGBT movement throughout the late 80s and 90s. Their still heavily involved in activist work even if their heyday is a shiny memory. Yes, they are named after BOLAS characters because I think BOLAS the show is sort of like what Honor Amoung Thieves is to D&D. I headcannon that in-universe the BOLAS show pulled from a nerd culture of RPG games and Sickening Sugar named themselves after their favorite characters in those collaborative RPG games. It actually caused licensing issues while BOLAS was first coming out because two major characters couldn't be licensed since this band already held those licenses. The BOLAS legal team, Immy, and Mal worked out an agreement so Immy and Mal get royalties from each item. It's pretty good money considering the show's popularity.
Tumblr media
Summary: it's a very folk-rock song. Mainly blending religion with critical anti-capitalism themes. The members in mid-40s and are currently on a break-up tour. Rams is devasted about it, the band has been a major part of hir highschool career and none had seen the break-up coming!
Band Name: PrOvide Members:
Wally Crawford Josslyn Platt Lilac Winton Astra Jackman
Last Album: Old School Choir Songs In The Album: Hymn, Hum, Worship, Watch, Praise, Pray, Worship, Watch Headcannons:
Yes, there are two different songs named Worship in the same album. Fans call the second one 'Worship Again' to differentiate them. Rumors have it that they're breaking up over creative differences but Rams doesn't fully believe those rumors. Unlike other bands, they've have a rather flexible sound that should be able to accommodate the odd/diverging album here and there.

"You're father is always there when it counts. He'll be at your wedding, he was at your birth but hopefully he'll never be at your funeral. But he'd show up!"
For a girl who wanted for nothing, she sure did want her father. A Nigerian diplomat who never stayed around for too long, Alisa Vinogradova assured her daughter that it wasn't that big of a deal. It was from a young age that Adaeze, called Ada by family, realized that things would go into two boxes: a big fucking deal or nothing to bat an eyelash at. At least, in her family. Alisa assured her that anything she wanted as a child she could get -- their cup runneth over literally being the daughter of a marriage between the heiress of a global wine fortune and a tech mogul. Her mother was one of their many children with too easy going of a personality to do anything more ambitious than eat, pray & love. There was always a trip afoot in the Vinogradova household making an otherwise sheltered Ada extremely aware of the world around her. It may have been through a lense that was majorly lavish but it meant that her perspective was a little broader compared to her preppy classmates.
Plus, when Ada started school -- her name was obviously different. It was a name both of her parents had agreed on and decided, it was easy enough for others to pronounce yet they still liked to butcher it. By middle school, various nicknames popped up and though Ada was an extremely popular one -- A.D. is what she preferred if the person wasn't going to call her Adaeze. While she loved her name, A.D. had always been very blunt and easily annoyed with people's ignorances. At fancy dinners & galas, she wouldn't be the most sociable if she wasn't feeling it and in school she picked and chose how and when she would participate. English, history, ANY art classes? They loved her. Math and science? They were annoyed she didn't apply herself. But what could Adaeze do? At the end of the day, she was her mother's daughter more than she ever was her fathers.
Where Ada did soften though was Starlight Oaks. Her grandparents would spend substantial time on their property on the cove and while her mother was untethered to her childhood home often going on trips and staying months in various countries, Ada had a room decorated at their house and went to a Private primary school until she was accepted into an Liberal Arts Boarding school in 7th grade. Was A.D. particularly driven to make her name in the arts as her calling? Not really. Did she have a valuable perspective to show that demanded self-expression? Not to her. But she had always excelled in every art class or hobby that had been thrown at her. Whether it was music, fine arts, visual arts -- she could dabble. When visiting the multitude of cousins she had, they'd always joke that they knew Ada was in town because there'd always be pictures of various art museums shared at family gatherings.
For a short time her father, Chidi, attempted to be in her life properly. For a semester, she was a dayboarder -- her mother even attempted to stay in one place for 6 months. Her room was barely decorated when it all fell apart and though A.D.'s grades had never been better -- something within her started to turn sour. Once inquisitive, she became sarcastic and combative. Her curiosity had an edge of judgement, once more introverted, she started to engage with the world as if it were her punching bag, her stomping ground, her personal oyster. She was known in school, for better or for worse.
If she could have anything she wanted --- why not her father's presence ? His love? His attention? No matter what she did -- his calls never came at the right time. They'd exchange messages about music, he'd send her records that he'd find on his travels. But it wasn't enough. Though so many of her friends families operated similarly, A.D. would prod and question the few friends she had with normal familial situations. Conclusion? It was possible, to have a father stick around, even if not for her. At the end of the day, she didn't feel like she was asking for much. Alisa may have been a jetsetter not bound by location alone but she would drop it all at the drop of a hat for her daughter if she asked. After graduation, A.D. never had to work but she did stay in school -- going to Parson's getting a dual degree (Design & Tech + Visual Studies). While New York was a fun playground, she spent her time doing exactly what her mother did after graduation -- traveling. Spending time with various family members, acquaintances, former peers and even a few high-profile names -- A.D. got to live a life.
When Chidi reached out to Adaeze wanting to have a relationship with her -- she jumped at the chance. There may have been years of resentment, anger, sadness and anguish even that had colored the last few decades but deep down she hadn't wanted for anything but this. At first, the idea of living with her grandparents seemed idyllic until being in a large house by herself seemed excessive. Though she loathed to admit it, it also seemed lonely. Never had she lived so alone in so much space, it's why she loved boarding school, why she lived in bigger bustling cities, why she stayed in school so long despite not having a real career path. While Starlight Oaks had been an idllyic place for her to live before, it had changed since the last time she had had roots there. Moving back to be closer to her family had been nice at first -- until her father claimed he forgot that he had even made the call to her. Not realizing what was going on, A.D. was angry, keeping distance between him and her even though they were in the same small town.
A.D. got her first 'real' job -- working at Galaxy Gardens dispensary. At first, she was only a Budtender and delivery driver but as she found a sort of novelty in the job she started to really dedicate her time to it. She was one of the few Budtenders that knew all the regulars as she had stuck around long enough to know the O.G.s --coworkers who had been there since day one. While at first got severely made fun of by her coworkers for not knowing how to do basic life things like taxes or how to properly clean a glass display container, she became one of the best coworkers to have, earning their respect. Eventually, she got promoted from Budtender to Shift Lead, then to Assistant Manager and in September-- Manager. Something she is proud of, an accomplishment she knows she has earned herself. Everything was 'normal' for a little while until it was revealed that her father was sick -- diagnosed with dementia. It was the reason he had reached out to her with no recollection of the conversations they had had about her relocating, but had had whole other families. A wound that A.D. had felt she would be able to heal had reopened, this time deeper and more painful than she had ever anticipated. HEADCANONS:
Runs that Dispensary like the Navy (Taylor’s Version). Her grandparents told her they’d like actually both support her / let her stay in their beach house but she’d have to get an actual job. Now, did they want her to work as a legal drug dealer? not really. her mother is over the moon and think it's hilarious, often defending her kid because they literally are a wino family. A.D. also kinda was like...well...i'm 27 and have NEVER had a job...embarazzzing....
Originally a bud tender then working her way to be manager. She’s kinda the best manager you could have and really makes sure to take care of her employees because she does realize she has a lot of privilege in how much she’s never had to worry about money but her coworkers/peers/etc MANY have had to so she picks up the slack. She'll feed them often, spoil them with employee samples, work shifts for them if she can/is able. If Lorelai Gilmore ran a dispensary tbh! gets a kick out of fighting upper management
No one else can afford proper car insurance and such so she ends up doing deliveries for customers atp and while she used to love driving around town doing it, she's just kinda tired of it LMAOOOO
Has an expensive fancy ass tattoos but especially for every place she’s ever visited, she has something thats kind of like stamps/postcards/something symbolic of that place. Started with the states in the US she went to when she was 16 and her grandparents/teachers were PRESSED but her and her mom/sibling had a cheeky giggle. alisa got a matching tatt with her for her 18th
Definition of knowing 6 languages so she can talk shit to you in each one of them
very fun fun nails. does not love wearing them SUPER long but like if the design calls for it....she'll suffer for her art!
colorful long coat collection!!! has a fun style tbh!!!
Arts yes, performing arts, no. I'll say it again, PERFORMING ARTS? no.
REALLY good at cooking breakfast…otherwise relies on her air fryer….she just has better things to do…you know…she CAN she just does NOT want to…speaking of household stuff...she's FINE at laundry...just don't let her do yours if you don't want something to shrink.
her mom is if like gwenyth paltrow mixed with drew barrymore and one of a lot of siblings. she’s kinda the youngest daughter in a very knives out energy giving family. so sure her mother loves her but ………..gg in getting direction from that woman! the only direction you're gonna get from her is which gate to board gg
what does a romantic relationship even really look like to her?? so many of her friends she grew up with have grand ambitions or grand families or grand spouses. the idea of having a house, family with children, staying in one place to raise kids is both terrifying and alien. though now she is here in this place about to turn 30.
is having a lowkey crisis about turning 30! will get over it but has to be dramatique about it first. kinda wants to throw a party for it....
captious is a fancy word for petty btw
in terms of her gender ...i kept writing cis-woman and it just didn't feel completely right but A.D. is struggling with coming to terms with understanding HER relation to being gender queer in any way. she just hasn't found a label that has exactly fit and knows that this is one of the least important things to figure out rn.
WANTED CONNECTIONS:
RIVALS: The rival dispensary Lunar Leaf is an establishment that has been a THORN in A.D.'s side. Constantly poaching potential employees, constantly copying graphics that A.D. has made HERSELF. She's SICK! AND! TIRED!
someone who fucked her mom lol
TRIP BUDDIES: Drug related and other! A.D. loves to adventure and explore, she definitely does hike a lot and loves to just be active in creative ways. You will NOT find her at the gym but you might find her swimming in that cold ass ocean!
EX-GF/PARTNER: all i need to say! need to write some gay shit! A.D. is not the best GF but she got MONEY... <3
cousin: she got COUSINS....
sibling: also has a younger sibling !

Adaeze in Lionheart
In the film Lionheart, Genevieve Nnaji plays Adaeze, a component, hardworking young woman who works hard to ensure the success of her family’s transport company but is ultimately reliant on her family’s support and decisions. Despite her skill, work, loyalty, and responsibility that is evident throughout Lionheart, Adaeze struggles to prove herself to her father and their company. Upon her father’s health failure, she has to struggle against competitive colleagues and concerned board members while wrestling with her own self-doubt and the insecurity that her father, and by extension family, does not believe in her. Adaeze’s family is very tight knit with the film showing many scenes of quality family time such as family dinners and caring for each other. Even though she is a mature adult, Adaeze is a daughter first and always has to go to her parents or uncle for input and decision making. It is also important to consider how Adaeze’s femininity affects these two intertwined aspects of her life. Many of the men Adaeze encounters as she fights to keep her family’s company objectify and proposition her despite her own professionalism. All of these elements affect Adaeze’s self-view, development, and professional prospects.

DC NG | Batfam
The next generation of the Batfam in my DC next gen AU is quite diverse to say the least. Bruce now has several grandkids he can only see on weekends bc of Jahzara and Vicia.
Sanai Sheila Todd | Toxin
Sanai is the only daughter of the Red Hood (Jason Todd) and Crimson (Vicia Lopez Todd). She is a member of the second iteration of the Watchers. Like her brother Rubio, she's born with Vicia's Metagene. However her powers are different. Unlike her mother and brother who can control blood, Sanai can control acid. She mainly does this by controlling the acidity of her own blood as well as the blood of others.
Sanai is named after two people: Vicia's best friend from juvie Sanai and Jason's biological mother Sheila.
Her and Trident (Wade Yates), son of founders Cybiotic (Jonah Yates) and Sirena (La'Frida Nile Yates), are dating.
Haywood Todd
The youngest child and second son of Red Hood and Crimson. Haywood has no interest in being a superhero or vigilante. Instead he wants to do something more productive like being a pianist. His family supports this dream and he often stays behind at Wayne Manor practicing.
Adaeze Thomas | Luna Moth
Adaeze is the protege of Spoiler (Stephanie Brown) and preteen daughter of the Signal and Fatale. Steph originally wanted her to have the mantle of Batgirl but Jahzara refused by saying "At least give her her own name if you're going to indoctrinate my daughter into this cycle." And so Luna Moth was born.
Adaeze has a variation of Duke's light powers as she can channel light and use it to make objects such as weapons.
Obi Thomas
Obi the youngest of the Thomas children being a 4th grader. Both Duke and Jahzara want him to have a normal life and encourage him to pursue something outside of heroism.
Bloom Quinzel-Isley | Gardenia
Bloom is the daughter of Poison Ivy (Pamela Isley) and Harley Quinn (Harleen Quinzel) and the half sister of Lucy Quinn. Following in the villainous footsteps of her mothers, Bloom is a major villain of the next gen continuity. She has Pam's plant powers and is resistant to poisons and acids like Harley.
Felicia Wayne | Stray
Felicia is the second daughter of Batman and Catwoman and the leader of the Strays. Felicia is an antihero and a chaotic neutral. Her and her gang have no problem committing crimes such as robbery but also save innocent people caught in the crossfire. Her sister is Huntress (Helena Wayne).
Wade Yates | Trident
Wade is the newest leader of the Watchers and son of its founders Cybiotic and Sirena. Due to his Metahuman parentage, Wade was also born with a Metagene which allows him to emit supersonic waves containing nanobots. These bots can rearrange the molecular structure of objects.

Lionheart (2018)
Tumblr media
I really enjoyed Lionheart (literally the best movie about a bus dynasty), but was a little disappointed by the romance subplot between Adaeze and Hamza. The first scene they have together is near the end of the film, but for some reason the filmmaker decided it was necessary for Adaeze to fall into the classic independent-business-woman-finds-a-man-and-unlocks-a-new-(softer)-part-of-her-personality troupe. An old reliable to make a working woman more likable and relatable. The cinematography in this scene speaks a thousand words: no romantic words are exchanged between the two, but we know from the handshake, Adaeze’s unprecedented awkwardness, and cutting between their looks, that something is going to happen. In the article “Signs of Femininity, Symptoms of Malaise: Contextualizing Figurations of ‘Woman’ in Nollywood,” Bryce writes that “women had embraced the despised genre of romantic fiction as affording them a space outside of masculinist discourse to articulate alternative desires” (75). In a way, Adaeze’s professionalism is excused by her eventual relationship with Hamza. It’s not that Adaeze was portrayed as a flat and cold business woman who suddenly turned a corner when romance was introduced into her life. It was the opposite, even: Adaeze is very likable and is well on her way to fixing Lionheart Transport’s problems, but for some reason someone thought she needed a man.

Doubling the number of sources of repeating fast radio bursts
A new way of identifying FRBs Thanks to the radio telescopes such as those at CHIME, which scan the entire northern sky every day, the number of detected FRBs has grown exponentially in recent years. The research team used a new set of statistical tools they developed to go over the data gathered by CHIME between September 30, 2019, and May 1, 2021, to confirm whether what they were saying were indeed FRBs. “We combed through the data to find every repeating source detected so far, including the less obvious ones,” says Ziggy Pleunis, the first author of the paper who started working on the research as a PhD student at McGill University. He is now a Dunlap Postdoctoral Fellow at the Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics. “These new tools were essential for this study because we can now accurately calculate the probability that two or more bursts coming from similar locations are not just a coincidence. It should be very useful for similar research going forward.” “These new discoveries will allow the scientific community to study more repeating FRBs in fantastic detail across the full electromagnetic spectrum and help answer a major open-question in the field: Do repeating and non-repeating FRBs originate from distinct populations?” Adds Aaron Pearlman, an FRQNT postdoctoral fellow at McGill University’s Trottier Space Institute who also collaborated on the paper. “I’m excited for the new insights that will be unlocked as a result of our study.” “It is exciting that CHIME/FRB saw multiple flashes from the same locations, as this allows for the detailed investigation of their nature,” says Adaeze Ibik, a PhD student in the David A. Dunlap Department for Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Toronto, who has led the search for the galaxies in which some of the newly identified repeating FRBs are embedded. “We were able to hone in on some of these repeating sources and have already identified likely associated galaxies for two of them.” Shedding light on the mysterious origins of FRBs FRBs are considered one of the biggest mysteries in astronomy, but their exact origins are unknown. Astronomers do know that they come from far outside our Milky Way and are most likely produced by the cinders left behind after stars die. One unexpected finding described in the paper is that contrary to what has previously been thought, all FRBs may be repeaters rather than one-offs. It is simply that many repeating FRBs are surprisingly inactive, producing fewer than one burst per week, and that the apparently one-off FRBs have simply not been observed for long enough until now for a second burst to be detected. Pleunis notes that this new research brings us closer to understanding what FRBs are. “FRBs are likely produced by the leftovers from explosive stellar deaths. By studying repeating FRB sources in detail, we can study the environments that these explosions occur in and understand better the end stages of a star’s life. We can also learn more about the material that’s being expelled before and during the star’s demise, which is then returned to the galaxies that the FRBs live in.”

Congratulations are in order!

Lotanna and Tori got married at Old New Henford Baptist. Lotanna had his own cottage built not far from the church using money saved from his landscaping business. Tori’s also helping out their income with her work as a Smexus ambassador. All of my siblings were at the wedding, except Onyinye, Adaeze and Chidi, which I definitely expected. It was a beautiful wedding nonetheless!
Yours, Isioma <3

"I'm not usually an apologizer but I'm so SORRY that I'm late."
The last thing Adaeze wanted to do was show up like this 15 minutes late -- but how what was the appropriate way to show up to something like...this? Certainly not late. Something she had been learning about herself lately was that certain grudges she held ran deep. The one against her father? Almost 30 years worth. What did her anger mean for her ...half-brother. Maybe if she had let go of it, she'd have met him sooner.
"Someone at work had a flat but we are SO short staffed that I needed to pick one of their asses up and whatever," feed them, roll them one as she promised to bring them whatever food they liked for their lunch.
Tumblr media
"I'm paying though, obviously. So get whatever you want and I mean that. I'm gonna need a drink or two as well," A.D.'s tone was casual even as it started to dawn on her that he was a PERSON. He wasn't just a 23 and Me product of her imagination. Or an article. "I'll be honest. I've been spying on you a bit. Are the flowers for me, by the way?" What a stupid question.
Interviewee: @adaezeabara Locale: Café del Luna
Ejike was nervous. Ever since his father mentioned that he had other siblings, he wanted to meet them. He signed up for 23&Me, Ancestry, and made sure his profiles were public and up to date. When a sibling reached out, however, he was hesitant. What if it wasn't what he expected? What if he wasn't what they expected? There were so many ways the meeting could go: they could hate each other, they could like each other, they could have had completely different lives, they could have had similar lives. It was all up in the air and ambiguity wasn't on the list of things he liked.
He sat at the table, a small bouquet of flowers on the table setting across from him. They agreed to meet at Café del Luna, and now that he was there the nerves were setting in. Which was odd for him, since he made his career on meeting people for the first time. Then again, the other was rarely related to him. Maybe being 15 minutes early was a bad idea.

It had been the day after you and your mother's quarrel. Your father was absolutely worried about you when you stormed off and wanted to check up on you, but your mother just told him to let you be.
Your mother, Adaeze, knew you can't stay locked up in your room forever. She knows about your friend from Wakanda, Shuri, visiting you today and you'd have to meet her when she arrives.
Your parents almost got into a fight or argument regarding your feelings after you stormed off. Your father, Aasir, wanted to talk to your mother about how they should just cancel this marriage thing if you disliked the idea so much. But of course, your mother didn't agree to his idea.
'But my Queen, our little one is already so furious just about the mere mention of how we set her up in a contract, there is a chance this marriage won't work out in the future.'
'Trust me on this, darling. sweet (name) will learn to accept the prince once they get to know eachother.'
'You know how our child is, my Queen. She's never liked the idea of having a significant other.'
'You're right. But her motives are pinpointed on what's best for Zinandra. And with what's best for Zinandra is to have a powerful leader. two powerful leaders.'
'Our child is raised to be the perfect leader she was meant to be, Adaeze. Ever since she could walk, she started training and learning all kinds of things. Her knowledge is advanced, she can rule our nation on her own long enough so she can find someone right for her.'
Your father had always been the one to understand other peoples feelings best. It's why you always come to him to tell him something before you go to your mother about it.
Your mother however, always wanted everything her way.
But enough of that. All morning you had been stuck in your room, refusing to even step a single toe outside of your door. A few of your ladies-in-waiting had already visited your room a couple of times to get you ready but they were always met by silence.
Your ladies-in-waiting knew you enough to know you were in a sour mood to even open your door up. Despite these actions being 'inappropriate and ungraceful', the ladies understood your feelings. After all, even royalty show normal human emotions.
You got a message from Wakanda's princess a while ago, making you vividly remember that you'd have to get out of your room sometime now. You haven't told Shuri about thr marriage contract, and you can't even imagine what her reactions would be.
Would she be upset you were upset? Furious like how you were last night? Sympathetic?
She had said to you that she'd be arriving soon, and so you got ready on your own. Sometimes ladies-in-waiting would help you get ready on special occasions, it baffled you because you were completely capable of doing that yourself.
Eventually when you were done making yourself look presentable, you sneaked out if you room, making 'shush' motions at the guards that passes by. They only waved their hand in confusion, followed by a good morning and a bow.
You met Shuri to where all aircrafts normally land in. You knew that both your parents would've been alerted of Shuri's presence as soon as the Talon fighter flew right onto the borders of Zinandra.
She was just exiting the aircraft before you tackled her into a hug, catching the girl off guard. The Queen let's out a small laugh at the feeling of your warmth on her, patting your back affectionately in the process.
"I'm so happy to see you." You muttered against her collarbone. Shuri hums delightedly, looking down at you. "As do I. But I feel like there's more you have to say to me than you already have."
You pulled away from the embrace at the Queen's words. "I do, actually. It'd horrible, Shuri, I don't know what to do." She hears you hurriedly state. Your desperate and agitated tone worried her. What had happened to cause you in such distress?
"Alright, (name), don't worry. We'll talk about this in your room, mm-hm? This'll seem too personal for anyone else to hear." Shuri reassures you, rubbing your arm in a soothing way.
You were just about to respond to her, agreeing, when all of a sudden you heard footsteps approaching. "Talk about what, dearies?" You heard your mother loudly question, forcing herself into the conversation.
Your worry faltered, and instead, it replaced with fierce intensity. Shuri noticed your fast shit of demeanor, and so did the Queen of Zinandra.
Shuri decides to speak up for you, trying to be subtle as she lead you slowly behind her. "(name) was just about to share some news with me. It seemed urgent, and I didn't want anyone else to hear so.." the Wakandan trails off, her eyes shifting between you and the Zinandra leader, feeling the tension.
The Zinandra Queen let's out a breathy, hearty, and almost a fake laugh, waving her hand off dismissively. "No need for that, Shuri. I have some very important news myself! I was just about to announce it to the whole nation right after.. he arrives!" Your mother hums a plastic laugh.
Shuri looks behind her, looking down at you in confusion. He? Why is there a he? Why was the news so important that the Queen had to tell it to the nation?
"Uhm.. 'he'..?" Shuri questioned your mother. Adaeze's face lights up in faux realization, looking between you and the Wakandan Queen with a smug look. "Oh, my child didn't tell you..?," your mother responds with her own question.
But before Shuri could answer herself, your mother cuts her off. "Well no matter. I guess you have to wait to figure it out just like the rest of te nation!"
"Mother, stop that." You gritted out, glaring at your own mother furiously. Why was she acting this way? It was like she was taunting Shuri with the truth.
Your mother only gives you a look of disapproval, huffing before turning in her heel and walking away.
"The prince will be arriving shortly, child. Go and make yourself look more presentable." Your mother says, loud enough for you and Shuri to hear as she walked away.
You refused to look at Shuri when she turned her head at you upon heating your mother's words. You feared about what look she was giving you. To be honest, you didn't know why you were so frightened about Shuri finding out all of a sudden when you were gonna tell her about it as well.
Maybe it was because of your mother's way of putting it up.
"Prince?. (name), who is this prince?" Shuri questioned, standing right infront of you. You tried to look away, but the look on her face made you feel guilty.
"I'm in a marriage contract, Shuri. I don't even know who the hell this prince is. I only learned about it a few hours ago." You state. Shuri nods, understandingly.
She didn't know why apart of her felt disappointed and crushed. Perhaps because you were set up in a contract without your permission nor knowledge. But even so, she felt bad for you.
"Oh.."
Her dry words left you to let out a rough and tired sigh, shaking your head slightly. "I don't want to get married yet. I'm not ready. I don't want to be bound to someone i know nothing about. I want nothing to do with them." You rambled on and on, your breathing beginning to be ragged.
Shuri was barely listening, lost in her own thoughts.
She was gonna lose you to someone else now. Someone who you don't know as well. Someone you don't want anything to do with. Considering how you're reacting now, she was certain this marriage won't work out for you in the future.
You're still young after all. Why couldn't your mother just give you more time to look for someone you'll truly love instead of ruining your future by bounding you with someone you don't love?
She knew your mother had always been the 'I want everything my way' typa girl, but this just reaches the limit.
"Who is the prince?" Shuri questioned you, stopping midway when you were expressing your absolutely hate for the marriage contract.
You looked confused as well, and wary. "I don't know as well.. I kinda just stormed out if the hall before learning more about this 'proposal' thing.." You trailed off, looking at her in confusion. "Why'd you wanna know?"
"..nothing."

Find the Words {1}
Tumblr media
Thanks @thewriteflame for tagging me! I had a lot of fun 💜
Surprisingly (or not), I haven't once mentioned a mountain or used the word match in La Fledgling, so I had to look elsewhere. Which means I can now subject all of you to two other projects of mine (not WIPs because they are no longer in progress. I'm halfway through the third book for the Witch's Time and 15k into the last book of ELT).
(I had to twist muse into amusement, because I wanted to add an extract from La Fledgling... sorry... 😶)
Words: mountain, match, market, muse, minute
Mountain
The Cave was not that large. There were rumors and legends of caves that could hold several hundred people and entire civilizations, caves where forests flourished and mountains rose, where rivers and lakes flowed. Ours was just a normal cavern.
The stone walls were covered with symbols that glowed in rhythm with the incantations used. Plants were sprouting in one corner, constantly monitored by a community member whose job it was to keep them from dying. To be honest, I didn't understand how they could possibly grow in the first place, let alone survive in such a dark place.
~The Witch’s Time (t.1), chapter 4
Match
Year of the Hare
Knowing that Llewella isn't Lorelei doesn't take away the fact that she's one hell of a nut jub. Holy fucking shit, she's so stubborn! We all know she has magic, but she still refuses to... to... to do anything, really! She doesn't want to talk about matching magical properties, doesn't want to talk about her potent magic. She doesn't want to experiment with her own magic, doesn't want to know the limits and constraints of it, even though its the basis of everything! And she refused to listen to Yawen and I. She acts as if every piece of advice we give her is an insult to her intelligence. Which is not the case! It's just that it' s dangerous for her to stay with an untrained magic. Dangerous for her, but also for others.
But try to explain that to miss I-don't-know-what-you're-talking-about-I-don't-have-magic.
~The Witch's Time (t.2), chapter 7
Market
Today, Flostre didn't have class, which meant that he spent his time following her around, asking her a thousand and one questions (some of which she was unable to answer) and touching everything. Ah, the joys of having a ten-year-old apprentice! He had taken a passion for candles, ever since his mother had dropped him off one day in Huilion's store. Unfortunately, Adaeze was working that day and the kid had just… imprinted on her. So now, when his mother went to the market, when she left to pick up her other kids or just when she needed a break (the gods know the poor woman deserved it), Adaeze had to keep an eye on him.
~Le retour de l'Oubliée (ELT t.1), chapter 12
Muse
"They think Lou is bringing…to tell you the truth, I'm not sure. They said something about her sire or someone from her original nest, but we weren't too sure what that meant, so we're improvising." "Again, I'm sure everything will work out for the best," Iris chirped, hiding her laughter behind her hand. "Look, so far, all our plans have been successful, I don't see why this one would be any different." "If you say so," Alex muttered before kissing me on the cheek and putting on her coat. "But you know if you need help, we're here." "And, if needed, we'll come get you out." Charlie's voice was deep and sincere. The other two nodded at the same time. Behind my back, Ana was silent, but I knew she was watching the situation carefully, despite the toxic mixture coursing through her veins. "You'd come looking for me in a den of overpowered vampires," I repeated with amusement. "Yes. But we'd rather not, so be careful." Iris never lied. Iris couldn't lie, really, but in cases like this, I'd still rather she kept her mouth shut than tell me things like that. No. Even if we were in trouble, I wouldn't call them. I'm not going to have their death on my conscience. Ana would do as she always did, which was to say that she would just do her own thing and rush into danger, regardless of whether I agreed or not, but the others would wisely stay home. "I promise," I lied with my fingers crossed behind my back.
~La Fledgling, chapter 1
Minute
Had she never watched Dirty Dancing before? "This is my dance space, this is your dance space" could, and should, be applied to any situation. If someone was less than sixty centimeters from me, it was already too close. And the vampire's voice was sliding against my skin in an unpleasant way. I rubbed my ear against my bare shoulder, suppressing a shiver. "Whose fault is that, one wonders? Wouldn't it be just great if the hosts saw me standing next to their ruined tablecloth when I've been here for five minutes?" I mumbled under my breath while trying to wipe the blood stain that was still spreading on the white tablecloth. "Why? Are you scared?" I swallowed my initial response which was to repeat that line from the Lion King "danger, I laugh at danger". After all, I was here undercover and given that the mansion didn't even have electricity (really, I was going to have to pay a visit to the Rodins' ASAP), I kind of doubted that anyone in this room had watched a Disney movie.
~La Fledgling, chapter 3
Tagging : @lena-rambles, @ryns-ramblings, @junypr-camus & @amewinterswriting, and anyone who wants to give it a try 💜
Words: trip; throne; tired; tempt; tone

thisismisogynoir asked:
I used to think it was a missed opportunity that Marinette wasn't Black, but now that I think about it, her being Black would be a terrible idea.
Being punished for everything and getting the short end of the stick all the time? Forced to revolve her personality around a white boy? A love life that serves only to punish her and cause her trauma and embarrassment at the hands of said white boy and hell, pretty much everyone else besides the rare good breed of white boys? Being mocked for her anxiety, dyspraxia, and possibly suicidal depression? Not being allowed to feel human emotions, be vulnerable, screw up, and ask for help without the world laughing at her? Being expected to act mature and perfect all the time while the white boy gets to act out? Having romantic feelings that destroy the world because she got what she wanted? Not being allowed to have or set standards? Being blatantly disrespected by everyone she meets, even the ones who are supposed to care about her? The one person who genuinely respects her and her boundaries and loves her for who she is being brutally tormented almost as much as her and then practically being erased from existence, along with their love for one another? Anybody else who cares about her either interacting with her as little as possible, forced into competition with her, or being made to care more about a white boy's feelings towards her? Being bullied by her so-called "friends"?
Nah, let Marinette stay Chinese and white. Because her being Black would definitely be THE WORST representation for Black female characters in media, especially Magical Girl media. We already get the message everywhere else that Black girls are not allowed to have human emotions, vulnerability, safety, or protection, aren't worthy of love or respect and any romance they're involved in will only end with them traumatized, humiliated, and as prey for entitled white male incels, and that they should accept this as their lot in life, because the entire universe is against them.
You're better off with Talia(LoliRock), Taranee(W.I.T.C.H.), Aisha(Winx Club), Lia(Princess Love-Pon), Adaeze(Adorned By Chi), and Undine(Sleepless Domain) if you want representation for Black girls in the Magical Girl scene. And I say that in reference to the current Black girl representation in this show, too. Because we all know that the creators hate Black girls, with how they treat the few they have, Alya and Aeon, and science girl doesn't even have a name.
Also, she wouldn’t be able to white pass as easily if she were black.
I also appreciate you giving examples of black magical girls for people who might be looking for those! It’s unfortunate that shows like Miraculous promote their representation/diversity when you know they don’t mean it even just going off of their writing staff...
