Alrighty, here's more notes from my Jason Gotham Knights playthrough. I'm not finished yet, but what I've found so far is interesting. Also here's the link to my other post about the Labyrinth which I'll be referencing.
Starting off with basic observations:
When Jason first encounters an Owl's nest he states "Hello? I'm selling owl scout cookies."
Jason can somewhat play the piano. We only encounter playable pianos in Gotham Knights whenever you're infiltrating either an Owl base or the Monarch Theater, regardless both are one time story plots, making the the ability to play them very limited. While I haven't tried this with Babs and Dick yet, Tim can't (or won't) play. He just takes his hand and swipes it down the keys, whereas Jason plays a small part of a song. I don't know which one though.
The cutscene where Jason and Tim are bonding and working on Jason's weapons. This one is pretty familiar, Jason's weapons are leaning a little to far on the dangerous side of non-lethal. When Tim brings this up Jason dismiss it, stating most of their enemies wear heavy armor so it's fine. To make his point, Tim gets in front of Jason when he goes to shoot at a practice dummy, stating that if he really believes they're safe then to shoot him. Now the major thing people will notice with this scene is that Jason hesitates for a moment (I think he's remembering something, perhaps Titan's Tower if that happened in this universe?) before pointing his weapon away. Another interesting thing I noticed in this scene is that after he points his weapon away, Jason goes as far as removing the clip and also removing the rubber bullets. It's possible he's just doing this so they can work on it, but I think Jason is going to these lengths to show to Tim he won't hurt him (again). It's clear from an earlier cutscene where Jason had a knife and he absentminded pointed it at Tim to make a point about the conversation , but Tim flinched back and Dick subtly intervened. Something along Titan's Tower happened here, but to what extent I have no clue.
So far during my League of Assassins stuff they've not ambushed Jason. If you've played or watched the game then you might remember The Court and the League sometimes set up little traps to attack you while you're patrolling. Sometimes it's a hostage, but mainly it's a few dead bodies of the local gangs and a trapped chest with a bomb. In my other play throughs I've encountered a lot of this from both sides, but Jason's a little different. The traps are still there from the League, but nothing happens. I open a chest and it doesn't go off, it's a normal chest. And it's clearly the LOA because you can see black smoke hanging around the scene, which indicates their presence. With Jason they just back off and only interact during the main storyline. Is this perhaps because he was in the League of Assassins after his little bath in the green jello? Or maybe I'm not far enough in the plot for the League to really start attacking me, or maybe I'm experiencing glitches. Whose to say, but I found it very interesting.
I was kinda disappointed with Harley's and Jason's interactions. I mean, Jason was pretty chill and civil around her which is totally fine, but I was hoping for a bit more backstory nods. We have a lot to assume about the Gotham Knights universe, so any little bit helps. But nothing really was mentioned between those two. Even stuff with Talia hasn't been very fruitful so far. If cutscenes don't show me anything I'll have to do a deep dive in the audio files, codex, wiki, and any written materiel about GK. I need to know these people's back stories!
(A small side note of how I had this whole theory written out on how Tim might have been apart of the family before Jason died based on a cutscene, but then I remembered that Bruce's audio files explicitly state otherwise. Also that'd make my Titan's Tower theory have to many holes.)
Now for my favorite part, The Labyrinth!
(This is where my previous post mentioned before comes into play)
Now, during my last few playthorughs I've been trying to map out the reason behind how certain hallucinations happen, whether it's truly random or if it depends on which direction you take in the labyrinth. I haven't cracked it yet, but I hope that after playing as Dick and Babs I'll figure it out. Right now this is just my observations.
Everything in general has stayed the same, except for the order of what happens. Here's how this time went: Turned right at the Spike room, turned left at the phonograph room, weird floating vision, (accidentally walked into some spikes and got sent to the beginning but it lead to the next room without backtracking), turned right at Bruce's Grave, turned left at the Table Room, Vision of Jason in an Owl mask, Turned right at the Pit Room, vision of Bruce and the ending sequence. I got a couple of things different then my last analysis for Jason, but I'm leaning more on the different paths direction then the randomized. We'll see though.
As for the things Fake!Bruce says, it's pretty much the same thing as he said to Tim, only in a slightly different order. The only thing that was different was in the Pit Room, where he says "You were the worst Robin, no better then a killer. Now you're just nothing."
Anywho, I'm not done with Jaybirds playthrough yet, so I'll add to this post if I find anything else.

hoooh man me sharing dead plate fics.. fun: ghost au pt. 4
//finally, the moment youve been waiting for.. rody's bday and the context of my drawing... letsa go
@aactuallyno
The day of love and friendship. Where lovers and friends gk and buy gifts for eachother, have several dates, eat chocolate and tell eachother how much they matter. It was a beautiful day for everyone else. But it was also his day. Rody's day. His birthday.
He ignored everything else around him, he just wanted to get back at home as soon as possible. He used a bit of his remaining funds he had when he worked at the bistro, just to buy a little piece of cake, not a whole birthday cake, but a sole piece. He shut his door as he leaned his back against it, giving a huge exhale, he could sense that feeling approach him already: sadness, guilt, remorse. It wasn't his first time feeling like this in Valentine's Day, but he feels so much worse than what he could remember during that era before he met her.
Rody went ahead and sat down at the couch, eating the piece of cake he got, awaiting for it to remove away his ideas. It kinda felt icky, as some thoughts of Manon's terrible but good-hearted baking would come to mind, he tried to brush them off, anxiously chewing on the cake nonstop. But it wouldn't stop, the more he remembered, the more dread he felt for this day: he is alone, all alone, both for Valentine's day, and his own birthday. His family is gone, Manon is gone, nobody else is around. Right, he already experienced this before, what about it, right? Right? It shouldn't be so different from when you were on your own. But once you get a taste of what you thought love is like, it is really hard to let go just like that.
Rody shook his head and just finished his cake whole, slamming the dish onto the table. "It's nothing… Just another year, me getting older and older, it's nothing! Nothing at all, just another average day…" He rubbed his face as he layed down on the couch. There was no need for him to stay awake when there was nothing else to do, nothing going on, nowhere to go, nobody to meet. So he just… waited until his eyes closed.
…
Before his eyes, there was a plate with a cake and a candle, not a big one, but it wasn't a mere piece of cake either, but an average cake. The room had no lights, only the candle and illuminated aprts of the cake being visible. Rody stared at it with tiresome eyes, yet feeling strange. He got startled when hearing someone singing and gently clapping next to him, "Happy birthday, dear Rody! Happy birthday to you!~".
Rody turned, there she was, the blue Manon he saw in another dream.
"Manon?" Rody asked
Manon turned to him with a soft smile, "Happy birthday, Rody! And Valentines day as well"
Rody smiled a bit, but when he tried to approach Manon's hand, he frowned.
"Ah, this isn't real, isn't it?"
"Hm? What about it?" Manon asked
"I mean, nobody is here and-"
"I am here, Rody"
"Yeah! But- Ahh, I don't know like… You'e here but you're NOT here, you know what I mean?"
"I am here, Rody, don't worry! You won't spend your special day by yourself"
"Ahh, it's my mind playing games with me, right? It's just making me imagine things that I want so bad to be real, only for them to not be real!"
"Rody…" Manon frowned
"Maybe I could just imagine you're alive! And that we're together! I could imagine my family are alive as well! Would imagine this wasn't a horrible day at all right now! Until…"
"Rody… Listen" Manon approached him and held his hand, "You… You are right, this is not real, it may be just a dream-"
"Right? Like… What's the point of bein-"
"Listen! This may not be real… But you really shouldn't feel down because of it.. These are memories gathering up to show you the moments you've enjoyed, memories you may remember them with pain, but it shouldn't be like that… Just think about those moments we spent time together, and about how happy they were for you, how real those feelings were…"
Rody sighed, "My feelings… may be real, but.. those moments, this moment, doesn't feel real, but it still.. makes me happy to see you again, and hear your sweet voice.."
Manon leaned against Rody's arm, "Well, even if this moment isn't real, it's better to enjoy the feeling, the moment, and create some new memories with it, right?"
Rody turned back to the cake, and blew the candle, making the room go entirely black. But it wasn't dark for a long while, as the sun was rising infront of his window, welcoming another day.

I love Colin, I love Ted Lasso writers a very not so normal amount let me tell ya.
This gonna be a stupid rant please bear with me.
As a football fan (Chelsea darling you need to get your shit together asap), I know damn well how this toxic and homophobic this community can be. There is a famous Spanish goalkeeper who once stated on the bird app that he was gay (tho he’s happily married to a woman), and one of his teammates was just… played along with that ig? At first, I thought he was so brave to say that publicly, I might have well defended him on every online post laughing at him and his “sexuality” (yes, all of those comments were horrible— and yes, I’m glad that I did not do that). Only later the gk said his account was hacked. They were just making fun of coming out in football without realising how much hurt they had caused to the queer community. And I never felt disgusted towards them ever like that before. And no one, not a single soul felt bad for the ones’d been hurt. They just laughed it off and everything went on like usual.
Unlike in women’s league, we hardly see any out men players in major leagues (5 ones: England, France, Spain, Italia, Germany). Even if we know someone, he was no longer playing, at all. That’s just the world we’re living in. Though I must acknowledge the effort they’re putting on during every specific occasion in a year.
Back to Colin. I was so touched and emotional when hearing him sharing his deep down thoughts.
“I don’t want to be a spokeperson. I don’t want a bunch of apologies.”
Colin does not need to stand out. He does not want to stand in the spotlight and talk about his sexuality, to be an influencer of something like that. He just wants his life to be exact the way it is, and it is not about feeling ashamed or something. I have a strong feeling that he will not come out to the world. Colin just has a little secret to himself (and to his himbos family only). And I believe he’s happy with it.
That being said, Colin does not want to put any pressure on his teammates when they find out he’s gay. He knows they love him for whoever he is, and they might feel guilty because of those previous disrespect comments, but Colin does not blame them. As long as they care for him (of course!), then Colin feels no need to hear any apologises.
“All I want, is for when we win a match, to be able to kiss my fella the same way the boys kiss their girls”
My heart just dropped dead onto the floor. Oh how many times have Colin witnessed other players got to kiss their lovers and wished he could be like them. He saw Jamie, Sam, and then Roy have lovely moments with their love interests, with everyone else cheering and supporting. Hope to see his ahead journey when at least now someone knows and understands his feeling. For the first time, he actually feels “seen”.
Trent and Colin conversation will forever be engraved in my brain. Such a healthy and heart-warming moment between them. It’s safe to say Sunflowers is my favourite episode from Ted Lasso, I laughed and I squeaked and I teared up and I died at every shot. This episode is a fucking masterpiece!!
P/S: I let out a sigh of relief when they haven’t killed off Michael yet. Colin deserves every bit of happiness and love please don’t take Michael away from him I’m begging youuuu

GK Characters as Dog Breeds (1)
So, I received an ask from the delightful @moonbirdflies about my take on what dog breeds would the GK characters be (their hc of the Nikaidous as salukis/greyhounds are so on point, I totally agree!)
I plan to make this a series of headcanons, to a) cover more characters in one go, and b) give me more time to answer and consider my choices!
To choose the dog breed for each character, I personally considered their personality and build more than their physical appearance. So, some of the dogs don't really "resemble" the characters, but I felt that something about the dog breeds really vibed with each character, hence my choices! :>
Without further ado, let's talk about the members of Sugimoto's Group as dogs! I'd love to know what you think! <3
Sugimoto Saichi Chinook
I picked this one for Sugimoto because I wanted a dog that a) a working dog, and b) a dog that was loyal and good with children. Chinooks have a muscular build to them too, and the smooth, brown coat just reminded me of Sugimoto!
Asirpa Hokkaido Inu
It’s so cliche for me to use, but yes, Asirpa as a Hokkaido just fits perfectly! Strong-willed but faithful companions, Hokkaidos are known to be good hunting dogs. I wanted a dog that represented a part of Asirpa’s character — deeply rooted in the old ways of Hokkaido (and the Ainu that calls it their home).
Shiraishi Yoshitake Bull Terrier
The American Kennel Club describes this breed as playful, charming, and mischievous — all hallmarks of Shiraishi. This dog breed is both loyal but extremely stubborn, something that endears me to Shiraishi’s character. And that very prominent head reminds me of Shiraishi’s bald head….
Tanigaki Genjirou Akita
This one is pretty obvious and I’m sticking with it. The breed is described to be a quiet family protector, and I think Akitas share that charming quality with Tanigaki. Also, big floof, can't get wrong with that <3
Vasily Pavlichenko Yakutian Laika
A multipurpose dog — but was also bred for hunting — the Yakutian Laika reminded me of Vasily right away! The very striking blue eyes were a dead giveaway.
Boutarou the Pirate/Fusatarou Oosawa Afghan Hound
The first one I figured out! It was very obvious: long, sleek coat and a slender build… screams Boutarou! The breed is also considered to be a royal breed, so I think it’s a good fit for someone who dreams of establishing his own monarchy hehe~
Kiroranke Caucasian Shepherd
A big, serious guard dog that’s extremely loyal to his loved ones? Kiroranke. This is a dog that originally came from former Soviet Union countries. I thought it would be a good match to have a dog from those origins and have that personality for him. Also, another big floof~

Gotham Knights ep 1x10 "Poison Pill"
Maybe I could just sit here making flappy hand noises about Misha's portrayal of Harvey Dent. But I also do have some coherent toughts.
This ep was a wild ride. I'm enjoying the GK team relationship dynamics, and Misha's depiction of Harvey is absolutely superb.
With an extra big gift basket of thanks to writers Nicki Holcomb and Summer Plair
Harvey + alt Harvey (not Two Face yet)
“When we were kids, we used to talked to each other in our dreams. Meet in the middle, we called it” “you’re a sucker for the truth”
There's so much I like about this--it's like Alt Harvey is an imaginary friend. He comforted child Harvey. Protected child Harvey. But it took a pathological twist. Alt Harvey knows all about Harvey. And he knows how good Harvey prime is. He wants the truth. He's decent. Alt Harvey plays on that--he knew what buttons to push. Harvey's quest for justice, for truth, for fairness.
“Whenever it got too tough I’d tag in” “I do the things that you can’t do”
Alt Harvey is a facet of Harvey, it's a facet in humanity. Primal. Fight or fight. Survival. Kill or be killed. But with all the safeties and inhibitions off.
“You don’t want justice. You want to burn it all down”
Misha really broke out a bit of Batman gravel there, in the scene where alt Harvey strangles Harvey. Fits in with what I talked about in one of my early posts about GK. What Alt Harvey (Two Face) is for Harvey is a little bit what Batman is for Bruce. Two Face is Harvey's version of Batman, and with Batman dead, Harvey needs someone to fill the void Batman left. Batman represents the darker parts of Bruce's psyche, and is something to comfort that scared grieving little boy, the moment of trauma, to fix Gotham, try and prevent that trauma from happening to other families. So Bruce let the bat out. The difference is Bruce never lost himself. Bruce had nurturing parents and then he had Alfred guiding and protecting him.
Harvey loses himself entirely to it--his trauma is different than Bruce's. Bruce and Harvey are somewhat mirror images, them and their alter egos are flip sides of a similar coin. But different methods. Alt Harvey's path to justice is destructive. Batman's is different. He embraces violence, but he's not about burning it all down, he's about protecting and building. Embracing the darkness in order to hold back the darkness.
Harvey's the fire, Bruce is the night.
And so it was a gaslight routine from the Court. Not TF taking over and doing things...I kinda thought that would be the case. They're playing Harvey. Wanted to get one of the only decent leaders in Gotham out of the way. Harvey's a threat to the Court, the Court is a threat to Harvey. Harvey and alt Harvey have a common enemy.
Turner not buying the story the Court fed him about Bruce but afraid it’s true and then finding out it’s true is poignant. He sincerely was choosing to believe in Bruce, so extra ouch on finding out it might be after all. But we still don't know the whole story, what exactly happened. I was right Bruce blamed himself. But did he kill the Hayes'? Or did he fail to save them. Carrie confirms that in this continuity, it's following the core tenet of Batman. “Batman doesn’t kill, he told me that over and over” and “he felt responsible”--feeling responsible doesn't mean he murdered them.
The Row siblings, Turner and Duela, Carrie, Steph -- I really enjoyed how the personal dynamics there played out, and Duela calling Turner on his broody bs after we saw the entire team working to save him. It seems like there's still spots of distrust among them, but they keep becoming closer as a team family at the same time. Cullen wants to stay. To hold onto that family after their names are cleared...Harper says she wants to leave. (But does she really? I think she's miserable because she thinks her feelings for Steph can't possibly be requited--she may change her view of the overall group, once she and Steph find their way to each other).
The picture gets sharper and sharper doesn't it. Turner/Duela have an enjoyable dynamic as well.
So Rebecca is the femme fatale role. This is classic Hollywood noir. I wasn't all that shocked by it since I wondered if Rebecca would follow that archetype but holy crap I did not see it coming that she'd kill her own son.
Carrie telling her mom she's Robin!!!
Is Brody the next Talon, then?

Anyone keeping up with Gunn’s direction on DC, especially the Bat-verse, knew GK wasn’t going to make the cut even if it is a cheap show to make.
Gunn’s Batman Bold/Brave movie is literally centered around introducing the Bat-Family on the big screen — which would be canon characters versus GK’s made up Bat-Family character…something Gunn wants to eliminate.
Reeves Batman II is an approved and welcomed Batman trilogy and extended universe of TV shows. And recently announced the primary villain they are in the works casting for — is Harvey Dent. You know, the canon good-turned-bad guy/foe of Batman. And not the canon-breaking Dent GK created.
And most likely THE reason to “clean up” the DC verse by cancelling GK.
Even if ratings were better, I don’t know if that would have saved it. The non-canon plot and non-canon characters in GK may have been enough for Gunn to eliminate it. Knowing that Gunn wants to create a more syngerized and consistent DCEU.
It seemed obvious earlier this year when Gunn didn’t mention GK in his DC plans, and intentionally ignored giving an answer about GK when asked directly. (Whereas praised SL show as a product). That was the biggest tell that the rumors of GK being dead were solidified in my mind. So the announcement today was no surprise.
Very interesting! I did see the positive conversations happening around S&L and none for GK, even early on, and there were certainly plenty of annoyed DC fans who hated the made-up Bat-family on GK. It's smart to go back to canon for any future endeavor.
The character crossovers is an interesting thing to consider. They were able to avoid that with The Flash (CW show) and The Flash (movie), but just barely. It makes sense they'd want to avoid having two different characters out there at the same time. If that's the case (and I can definitely see the reasoning), how long before they start work on a Superman movie and have to cancel Superman & Lois? If they're already looking at possibilities, I'm guessing this next season will be the last for S&L. (Depending on timing, if they're lucky and the numbers hold out, S&L might be able to squeeze in a fifth).

Muses I don't have a name for and am fully done.
If you want me to give me an idea or recommend an AU version of a muse here I'll do my best! Also thanks
@shadraxofficial for this idea.
The knight!
This knight is a experienced fighter and hunter with skills in monster killing. Due to his life style he's been scared a lot and isn't the most handsome.
Lives his life wandering dungeons defeating monsters and collecting bounties. But he's been horrifically hurt. So he keeps his helmet on at all times.
His armour which was once a well polished and perfectly cleaned plate armour is now covered in scratches and had to be repaired with monster bones dragons scales and is held together with leather straps made of manticore hide.
His helmet is dented with a huge indent from a club weilding orge. It's hard to take off now.
The face plate used to move up and down but it was burned by a venom Spitting dragon.
He lives by himself in a cabin in the woods on the outskirts of his kingdoms home.
He's been called by nicknames due to him having a 'hard' name to say. (His name is Irish and he lives in France) nicknames are as follows
Sir Hunter
The exterminator
Scavenger (was ment to be an insult)
Failed viking (all he said was 'I. Am. Irish. Welshman!')
Maiden's knight (called that as he was never one to turn down a woman in need. Also unlike other knights he wasn't crass or rude.)
The green one (no matter how damaged his armour is he'd always paint green sun's on his gear.)
He has a lot of altered and changed weapons.
An enchanted large slab of wood (a druid enchanted it after his sheild was eaten by a sea serpent of massive size. Durning the day, it grows healing herbs and mushrooms and is harder than any sheild durning the night it acts likes its made of Jade.
A spear set (his javelin broke in two so he took one half and sharpened the pointer bit. And put a metal cap on the other halves bottom)
He has had several swords, but he's broken so many he'd have someone melt them all down and remake a sword with them. The sword is a bright mixture of different grays and bronzes.
His prized weapon is a large green battle ax given to him by a friend of his. It's a bright emerald in color and described as very heavy.
He's been kicked out of five kingdoms for fighting the other knights for their attitudes and its resulted in him being known as 'The killer of Good knights' surprisingly they're all shing armour knights (wink. Wink.)
He's well liked by the poor and ostracized due to his duty to protect them due to being from a farming family.
He's hated by various knights due to turning down cortly love and not really understanding why various nobles try to use him a mercenary to attack defenseless people burning down villages. (They view that talk as him insulting their and their lords honor.)
He's prone to fits or rage if any use a tradgy against him. Due to him loosing his family to some crusading Templars working for a king.
He loathes a knight in golden armour due to his sinful nature and his traitorous rise to power. (Had an affair with the queen killed the king and half his court and then went to war with any who stood with the dead king.)
One of his only friend for a long time was a person he writes to. Somehow he got himself a suitor more specifically a woman demanding his hand. But due to them not meeting they talk through letters. He does know she's not a noble nor is she a farmer. She is someone he adores.
His other friend is his horse. His name is 'Lunk'
Noone knows if he died or not for a long time due to his last battle being against the golden knight and his court. He slayed 10 knights fought the GK nearly tore his armour open and cut his stomach and shoulder open with a peasant army stumbled backwards with both a broken javelin in his pec and a sword in his gut and falling off the edge of the castle.
His body wasn't found but a parade of fae, elves, and treenets along with sprites taking his body away. They noticed a woman wispher something into his ear and stuff a letter into his hand.
His horse his house and all his gear disappeared along with him.
To this day historians often wonder if he existed.

Aggrey Akoyo's family and the Bungoma GK prison's residents are seeking explanations for his death. The deceased person resided in Bungoma town's Milimani Estate. Western regional commissioner Irungu Macharia told the Star on Wednesday that Akoyo died while still in charge of the Bungoma GK prisons. "With shock and disbelief, I learned of my friend's sudden death. Macharia stated, "This was one of the best officers we had." He claimed that the deceased was in good health and that he did not express any pain prior to his untimely death. According to the reports, Akoyo did not voice any complaints. He has always worked well and interacted well with others, he stated. The regional manager added that the deceased person went to work as usual on Tuesday, but he went home around noon to rest. That was the last time the departed was seen at the office. Macharia said that Akoyo's housekeeper tried to call him, but no one answered. He stated, "He was later found dead in his house at approximately noon on Wednesday." In the meantime, the body was picked up by police and taken to the mortuary of Lifecare Hospital. Macharia stated that officers from the DCI have begun an investigation into the incident and urged the general public to maintain their composure. Read the full article

This is something that keeps churning away at the back of my mind as well so I will happily info dump some stuff here 😅
It's canon in the Gotham Knights universe that the caves under Wayne Manor are so extensive they were used to help escaped slaves connect with the Underground Railroad and reach Canada. (I know it's canon in other timelines too, buy the GK game has their very own specific prequel comics focusing on this, iirc the first one is Gilded City).
So absolutely they’d be big enough for prohibition smuggling. Bonus points if the Waynes capitalize on the legend of Joshua Wayne’s ghost* to keep other smugglers from raiding them.
Bonus bonus points if Bruce does indeed keep finding bottles of moonshine everywhere. It's funny until he has kids. Then it's a Problem.
___
*He and his brother Solomon built the house to hide the tunnels and protect the Underground Railroad from prying eyes.
Joshua’s death was rumored (I think) to be a construction accident but in actuality, he was caught by bounty hunters who left him for dead in the woods after finding out he was the one helping runaways reach the caves.
Joshua dragged himself home to die in the wine cellar so no one would find out about what he’d been doing, keeping the family name and reputation intact.
Solomon continued his work as an abolitionist as a judge, but left Wayne Manor abandoned as a giant tomb to his brother’s memory.
It was eventually finished by his son, Alan Wayne, whose wife died in childbirth. His son Keneth Wayne was the first Wayne to be born, live, and die in the manor, he was Bruce’s great-grandfather.
What do you think of the Telltale Batman games?
I went into it a bit on this post a while back (spoilers for the ending in the final reblog chain). But in quick summary:
Lots of fun. Well worth buying when it goes on sale.
Really love how much humor Bruce is allowed. His undercover persona as a dirtbag billionaire turning into a crime lord is a lot of fun.
Bruce and Selina get on like a house on fire with all the expected casualties of a house fire in Gotham.
Harley Quinn mob boss: YES YES YES
The game really said, 'BatJokes otp <3333'
ID: Two screenshots from the Batman: The Enemy Within Telltale game. Both screenshots depict a nighttime background in the city of Gotham. The top image shows the Joker, dressed in a green shirt dragging Batman, who is dressed in civilian clothes as Bruce Wayne, over a table by the collar of his leather jacket as he demands, “Why won’t you love me?!” while Bruce stares wide-eyed at him, lips parted in surprise.
The next image shows both men turning comically to regard a civilian at a nearby table who looks like he wants the floor to swallow him up just so he can get away from what looks like the weirdest public gay break-up going on outside the Gotham equivalent of a Starbucks at 4am.
---
I really enjoy the dialogue options you have as Bruce Wayne vs. Batman and the fact that you can play Bruce as airheaded or cunty as you like. He's either playing Bruce as a spoiled little rich boy or a well-meaning himbo with elevator music playing behind his eyes. There's no in-between.
Alfred is written out of character at the end, and it pulls the whole thing down.
I'd still play a third installment if they made one because I really want to enjoy Tell Tale style games; they just always seem to let me down a bit. But I want to believe...

Hey there. I was just curious on how Morpho's sense of morality works in this AU? You mentioned that it's kind of a Blue-and-Orange type. (I have another ask. If you didn't get it, I'll send it another time.)
Hmmmm, not sure how I can explain it properly, Morpho sometimes works in absolutes so if something is needed to do to keep universal equilibrium they will do it, no matter how horrible it seems to everyone else, you could plead at them to not do it and they will see no logic on it.
one scenario I would like to do (but I doubt I can bc brain juice is limited and honestly I don't know how to fix the main problem fdasnjfbd) is having Morpho as a main antagonist.
Galacta's manipulation of the current timeline has started to cause some serious anomalies to appear on it, this is threatening to spread to other timelines as well, so Morpho sets up to Aeon's (embodiment of time/time god????) domain to destroy the current timeline in an attempt to get rid of the problem, destroying the timeline would mean everyone on it is also destroyed, Morpho sees no problem on this, it makes sense, get rid of the problem and while everyone on the current timeline is dead, their versions in other timelines are fine!
#Morpho: everything is fiiiiiiiiiiiiine#GK: My family is dead#Morpho: correction. your family on this timeline is dead but the other alternate ones are ok! win win#Morpho still uses Gala's body bc only denizens of Aeon's domain can enter the deeper parts#annonymous

What are you thoughts of Ogata's last chapter & death... Do you think it is an example of bad writing... seems that's what most fans think...
Hi anon! I loved Ogata's last chapter! there are things I didn't like in the last few chapters ( Tsukushima & Ushiyama), but Ogata's the winner when it comes to awesome character-writing!
What I like most abt Ogata is that his writing & characterization is so consistent since the beginning!! If you search Golden Kamuy tag in my tumblr, you'll find my writings/thoughts abt Ogata way before this last chapter comes & you'll see that what Ogata dealt with this chapter was in plain sight all along! I'm so happy that I read him correctly!!! Noda can deliver unexpected turns but so far it has been consistent with his character's core issues & character traits. Really nothing abt Ogata was surprising to me, except how well it was presented.
Ogata is not a hero nor a vicious villain, he is simply the same as all GK characters, a person in a journey to deal with his own issues. GK isn't abt gold hunt, nor forward political Ainu/Japan issues. It's a story abt characters embarking on self-focused journeys where they are the focus of their own mini tale. All of them, including the convicts at the beginning. Nikaiado was the focus on his own story, Nihei & others too. No one is 100% manipulated, powerless or a victim.
Each of the characters at least once in their journey had a choice to either let go, better themselves, rise above their own sins, repent, reflect, make a U-turn, or choose a happier path. ALL OF THEM. That's why GK is one of the best stories, cuz we watch 5678656 characters deal with things differently & either win or lose. Ogata is one of these characters & he went thro the same themes.
-The theme of " you can choose your path" regardless of your tragic surroundings:
Ogata is one of the most tragic characters. born to a mentally sick mother ( or perhaps she was healthy all a long, but developed toxic attachment issues to her partner) & a selfish, self-serving & conceited father. While he might have been loved when he was born, he found no love as he grew past his toddler years. An absent minded mother & an physically absent father. Extreme emotional neglect can cause serious issues in children. What Ogata went thro is sad & tragic. In his young mind, he believed that if he killed his mom, his dad would come rushing to her funeral, hence proving that love did exist in his family. But none of that happened. Children are capable of harmful thoughts & actions due to trauma & lack of proper mental judgement due to their age. Picture this: a child forming the thought & action of killing his mom with poison!! only to not achieve anything except more loss. He then sets to see this father, & further hurt him by killing the innocent brother, only to gain nothing as inn his last moments, the father still refuses Ogata as a son & shows no remorse & no love. Tragic background, but it was riddled with choices. In every step of the way. Ogata could have chosen to not pursue the father, he could choose to not kill Yuusaku, He could've also chosen to find another path to heal. There were redemption stops in his journey that he chose not to take in, Why? Cuz Ogata has decided that he is a victim!!! He decided that he is NOT loved by anybody. that he MUST prove to dead father who abandoned him that he was worthy of love, nurture & respect all along~~ If he could become the leader of the 7th division, he could prove that! to whom? a dead man. Tragic life can force a certain path on us, but inflecting harm on others is a choice we make in moments of weakness & darkness. There was happiness in Ogata's path. A brother who actively & genuinely sought his love & companionship, but Ogata was blind to that, cuz he has judged himself to be a victim on a journey to prove others wrong, a ben broken twisted man that can prove everybody is similar to him. Tragic story, bit uh! so well- written! ( also many characters share this theme but I'll only focus on Ogata now)
-The theme of " guilt & the human compassion":
Since Ogata has decided that he is a broken, bent, twisted victim, he refused to engage in guilt. He loved his mother & sought desperately to gain her love but fail. Killing her wasnt easy choice. While he didnt cry, he convinced himself that it was her fault for being pathetic or that he is simply twisted. He joined the army, where logically if you kill the enemy, you are a hero! it is expected of you & you are encouraged to do it. Further proving that all humans are twisted & bent. He met Usami, a guy with the most healthy & loving family in GK who saw no guilt in killing innocent child & thrived in war. Further proving to Ogata that he is the norm. Tsurumi a leader who celebrated death & rejoiced in battlefields, His fater sacrificed an entire division to win one battle for his own glory & honour, all the broken men in war, solidified this thought. Then he met Yuusaku, a guy who found no joy in war & who is desperately trying to cheat his way in an official manner into not killing anyone of his enemies by being a flag bearer. He doesn't even carry a sword. A guy who refuses to kill unarmed army prisoners. A guy who told him, "it isnt normal not not feel guit" Suddenly Ogata's entire identity is put into questioning & his perspective of life is shaken, but still Ogata chose to find validation from Usami that they are right, he chose to imitate Tsurumi's twisted mindset. Killing Yuusaku meant that Ogata has a tool to torture his father & also silence the voice of compassion.
GK is not a story abt superstitions, wandering spirits nor fantasy. It's based on reality. Yuusakue's ghost is not real & is only a fragment of Ogata's tired, sad consciousness. Ogata is a normal human being. He can feel guilt like all of us. But chose to silence e this feeling & chose to continue to believe that he is twisted & bent. Thast's why the ending is perfect. Ogata died knowing that he is normal, loved but chose wrong.
-The theme "letting go of the Past":
So many GK characters are chained to their past, Trurumi, Ogata, Sugimoto, Tsukushima & many more. Most of them refuse to let go, others cant find the proper copying mechanism to deal with their past sins & mistakes, Some accept that their present life is punishment if such sins & chose to remain still, Some want to punish the words as well for all the pain of the past. Most see no future. No... All of them see NO future. That's why, those who'll be able to let go of the nostalgic happy past & accept the sins of the recent past, will SEE a future. Ogata saw a future where he sat in his dad's position, but it was a future based on forcibly holding into the toxic past, built upon many wrong choices.
-The theme "Reaping what you saw":
I love this theme!! GK is unique in doing this theme properly. Most stories the most fan fave or the protag get away with things simply cuz fans dedicate stories. They're the customers afterall. I didnt necessarily wish for Ogata's death nor anyone's death. But You gotta pay the price of you sins towards others. Ogata paid it so thoroughly & in a really shocking writing style! truly interesting from a writing perspective. Now my eyes are on Tsukushima, will Noda treat him the same way? make him pay the price? Similar to Ogata, Tsukushima refuses to let go of the past & insist to continue a toxic path. They both have someone who cared for them trying to stop them. How will Noda deal with him worries me especially that few chapters are left, so perhaps the volume will have better & full exploration of Tsukusima's journey? I duno.
There are may themes & many things to say abt Ogata's arc! but one word is enough: Complete & very thorough!
Well done, Noda!

ramble abt 有古と仲良し under cut (vague spoilers)
有古と仲良し is a win in my book cos before that there wasnt any concrete evidence ipopte saw kikuta as anything more than his superior, like yeah he's comfortable around him and theyre clearly familiar w each other but every display of affection has come from kiku. to be fair we don't really know what they're like around each other when there aren't actual lives at stake, like they hunt down a man for his skin right off the bat and immediately after that ipopte's entire family's lives gets threatened, the poor man is on edge through the entirety of gk. worth noting is that he uses あんた (anta) when addressing kikuta which isn't smth you'd use for your boss, while addressing ogata who is lower than kiku in rank with あなた (anata) and even using (watashi) rather than his usual 俺 (ore).
i personally hced them as friends cos 1. they did spend two years together at a hot spring after a shared near death experience 2. it's just more interesting that way... but this is all to say that between the battle of mukden and their participation in the gold hunt we were left with few clues to fill in the blanks wrt their relationship (other than that kikuta grew to like him very very very much), and im glad noda gave us more to work with. congrats, kikuta, close friends! im sure you won't fuck it up by completely dismissing ipopte's struggle for closure and cultural reconnection and only thinking abt how much he matters to YOU. "forget abt your dead ass father, join my spy club i miss u ❤" good one dude. but thats for another ramble post
love the kkt rap noda wrote for season 4's ed (translation is Not Good I know, criticism/corrections r always appreciated)

#i heart overanalyzing shit no one cares abt its my favorite thing to do#their relationship is interesting as hell regardless of whether theyre friends or not but i feel validated#also it was so funny seeing 有菊 artists on twt also get rlly excited at them being confirmed friends 😭 FRIENDS#nakayoshi4ever!!!!#kikuposting

The ages of the Batfamily kids according to Secret Files timelines
Today I saw a really nice rundown calculating the Batfamily ages in the 80s, and it reminded me that I've been meaning to post my personal favorite timelines, which are from the late 90s retcon!
In the late 90s, post-Zero Hour, DC decided to create the official Secret Files timelines. The key points of these timelines for the Batfamily:
Dick and Tim are six years apart and both became Robin at age 13; Jason was only Robin for a year
So for example, in the 1997 Batman Secret Files timeline, Dick’s parents are killed in Year 2, Dick becomes Robin in Year 3, Jason becomes Robin and then dies in Year 7, and Tim becomes Robin in Year 9. So 6 years pass between Dick becoming Robin and Tim becoming Robin.
Why This is Good: Jason only being Robin for a year
I personally like this a lot. Street-kid Jason (as opposed to pre-Crisis acrobat Jason of the Flying Todds) was introduced in June 1987 and then infamously died in Death in the Family in December 1988. That's only about 18 months real-time, i.e. Robin!Jason has very few plotlines. Here's a list of all Robin!Jason's appearances from his introduction to his death:
Batman 408-10: Jason's introduction: Jason becomes Robin
B 411-12: Two-Face kills Willis Todd; Jason seeks revenge
B 413-5: Three one-shots with random villains
Detective Comics 580-581: Jason vs. Two-Face again
B 416: Dick finds out about the new Robin; they meet for the 1st time
B 417-20: Jason and Bruce fight KG Beast
B 421-22: Dumpster Slasher kills women; Jason gets violent (in 423 Jason doesn't appear)
B 424-5: Jason is mayybe responsible for Felipe Garzonas's death
B 426-8: Death in the Family: Jason dies.
Keeping Jason's tenure as Robin short allows the in-universe timeline to not outstrip the out-of-universe timeline. Plus IMO it explains - in part - why Jason's relationship with Bruce and Dick might be so shaky that he's furious at them when he comes back as the Red Hood: he wasn't Robin long enough to develop relationships with them that he trusted.
More broadly... if you try to backfill relationships off-panel, a lot of the storylines that did happen on panel become weird. So, for example, Dick saying that Jason wasn't ready to be Robin in NT 55, or Dick using Jason as a cautionary tale for Tim in NT 67, or Dick saying they didn't know each other well in GK 45. Or later storylines, like Jason gloating about how Dick is probably dead in UtRH, or Jason stabbing Dick in Nightwing and attacking him in BftC and B&R. Dick and Jason have a ton of conflict in post-Crisis, and YMMV, but it reads to me more as "we've never known each other well so we don't trust or understand each other," which is very different tonally from "we used to be really close but now we've had a bitter falling-out."
And personally, there's something I find really compelling about the idea of Dick and Jason having never gotten close before his death - partly just because I love and enjoy conflict, but also because it leaves the possibility for them to someday create a later, stronger relationship as adults, finally actually getting to know each other and growing beyond those tensions from earlier years.
Nightwing Secret Files
Published two years after Batman Secret Files, Nightwing Secret Files (1999) has a largely identical timeline: Dick’s parents die in Year 1, Dick becomes Robin in Year 2, Jason becomes Robin and then dies in Year 7, and Tim becomes Robin in Year 8. Again, 6 years pass between Dick becoming Robin and Tim becoming Robin. Again, Jason dies within a year.
And the Guide to the DC Universe (2000) again has a six-year difference between Dick-becomes-Robin and Tim-becomes-Robin:
Some comics track these timelines exactly! For example, in Teen Titans .5, Slade recalls the events of New Titans 84 (a bit after Tim's origin story), and says they happened "three years ago." He also mentions the Graysons' deaths, which he says happened "ten years ago." In other words: a seven-year gap, just like you'd expect.
Of course, comics are never completely consistent - in this incredibly clunky As You Know Bob scene, Tim and Dick explain Tim's origin story to each other, and Dick implies that Tim was about seven when the Graysons died (YJ Secret Origins 80-Page Giant 1998).
According to Secret Files timelines, though, Tim ought to have been six, not seven. Oh well. XD
Why This is Good: Dick and Tim being relatively close in age
The late 90s/00s is the heyday of Dick and Tim's relationship, and although Tim's definitely Dick's little brother, the age gap's often not that big a deal. Their vibe is "high schooler & college student." Tim calls Dick his best friend. Dick calls Tim his closest ally. They rely on each other.
They also have some significant fights.
I love their dynamic, I love THEM, and I think all these comics work best with the age gap as originally envisioned, akin to the one between Tim and Damian: big enough that it sometimes matters, but small enough that they can have fights or snipe at each other without Dick being de facto in the wrong.
IMO, if you make the age gap too big, Dick and Tim's relationship starts blurring into Dick and Damian's pseudo-parent + child thing, and it really screws with Dick's characterization, because their sibling squabbles are normal for older brother+younger brother, but weird for adult+child. Their tensions in e.g. Nightwing 6 & 11, Bruce Wayne: Murderer, Titans/YJ: Graduation Day, Red Robin, etc. all read differently if Dick's too much older than Tim.
A random grab-bag of Dick and Tim in the 90s/00s:
(Roughhousing! Pranks! Talking about girlfriends! Confiding insecurities! Complaining about Bruce! Squabbling about who gets to meet Oracle's ex! <3 They're brothers, not parent-child, and that's really important to their interactions.)
Secret Files: potential problems
Okay, now that I've hopefully sold you on these beautiful timelines, what are some of the issues with them?
1. Nightwing Secret Files retcons Dick’s backstory so that he left Gotham / became Nightwing at around age 17 instead of 19. This gives Dick more angst, so I like it. It makes Bruce more unsympathetic, though, so depending on your preferred Dick-and-Bruce relationship, though, you may not be a fan.
2. Trickier: retroactively de-aging Dick creates various continuity problems if you try to use his pre-Crisis history (and some of his early post-Crisis history), 'cause you have to work out when on earth he went to Hudson University or if he did go there, plus some awkwardness with the Titans, like when you try to calculate how old Roy was when Lian was born, etc. etc.. OTOH I think Donna's canonically 19 when she marries Terry Long (sigh), so the Titans do just get involved in serious relationships at young ages. (It's comic book world! 13-year-olds fight crime! 19-year-olds get married! Time is an illusion only waiting to be retconned!) I think these continuity problems are surmountable but they definitely exist.
3. I'm not a huge fan of Jason dying a whole year before Tim becomes Robin.
I think Tim's origin story makes much more sense if he starts panicking about Batman a few months after Jason's death instead of waiting a whole year. In Nightwing Secret Files, Jason dies a year before Tim shows up; in Batman Secret Files, Jason dies two years before Tim shows up! IMO this is way too much time!
If I were in charge of tweaking these timelines,
If I were in charge of tweaking these timelines, I'd give Tim and Jason a three-year age gap and have Jason die at 15, shortly before his 16th birthday, in the same year that Tim becomes Robin. I can kind of justify this because...
Both Cass and Jason seem to be about 2-3 years older than Tim.
Cass is 18 in Batgirl 39 (Jun 2003), when Tim is 15.
Tim then turns 16 in Robin 116, published in Nov 2003. So I think - depending on which you prefer - you could make a "canon" argument for an age gap of 2 or 3 years between Cass and Tim.
And in Batgirl 65 we’re told Cass is about the same age as Jason.
To summarize, in the late 90s/early 00s timelines:
Dick is 2-3 years older than Cass and Jason
Dick is 5 years older than Steph (she seems to be a year older than Tim - she's 15 when he's 14, and she's in college when he's 17).
Dick is 6 years older than Tim.
Dick is 13 years older than Damian (since Tim is 7 years older than Damian).
(Basically most people's ages should be calculated based on Tim's because he's the only one who regularly has birthdays. =p)
Consider! If Dick is 13 years older than Damian... that means that Damian is born right around the time when Dick becomes Robin.
This isn't hugely important or anything but I think it's cool.
(I also think it's cool that the age gap between Dick and Tim is about the same as the one between Tim and Damian. Plus Jason and Cass are about in the middle between Dick and Tim. Everyone's so nicely equidistant!)
I'm not totally sure when this retcon started - possibly in 1994 with Zero Hour? It of course totally contradicts everything implied by the comics in the 80s, and there is no possible way to reconcile them. =p
But, uh, on the bright side we get to pick the stuff we like?
Ah, comics. XD
#tim drake#dick grayson#meta#jason todd#i can't decide if i should tag damian in this since his age is pretty well-known?#he's 10 in post-Crisis and just stays 10 - the simplicity!#post-Crisis Batfamily ages generally have to be calculated based on Tim because he's the only one who regularly has birthdays#Dick on the other hand at any given moment is always 20 or 21 XD

Bitter clickbait bloggers and trollish dc stans dumping rage against Gotham Knights on CW by stomping around annoyed there's not "canonical" Robins meanwhile Carrie Kelley and Stephanie Brown are famous Robins canonically from the comics or while dumping rage against GK because Bruce took in yet another random kid as if Bruce doesn't collect them like a golden retriever adopting baby birds, oh but GK has the temerity to create a new character just for tv *stares into camera so hard the lens cracks* -- who is going to tell them where Harley Quinn and Barbara Gordon came from -- or they're mad because Damian Wayne isn't the son in GK, wow I guess family does end in blood for the dc trolls, or they're mad because Nightwing isn't there (and Nightwing is my DC fave so I can speak) because despite being "dc stans" they don't actually know how dc works in terms of how they are very selective how they release characters for use in filmed media, and Nightwing is already in use on the Titans live action tv series on HBO Max, is really really hilarious to me as a dc fan. I read this stuff for the lolz. No, there is no "fan backlash" against GK, bitter clickbait youtubers. If it's not rage from "stans" who actually prove how little they know about DC, it's rage from CW stans who are literally only mad at GK because Arrowverse is gone so they're attacking an inclusive new DC show without even watching it first, it has nothing to do with GK's actual merits or strengths.
The funniest part to me are the gamer type dudes yelling that GK sucks because it's an AU where Batman's dead during their online breaks from playing the game Gotham Knights, an AU where Batman's dead.
The most unforgiveable part to me was the allegedly "reliable" media site whose bitter clickbait editorialist didn't know that Carrie and Stephanie are Robins.
