Jim Lovell and Frank Borman head for the launch pad to board GEMINI VII for a 2-week stay in orbit.

You may notice their space suits look a bit unusual. These are G5C "soft suits", specially designed for comfort for the long mission. They were for emergency conditions only, like a leak in the cabin, to protect the crew until they could come home. Since they were designed to only be worn inside the spacecraft, the bulky layers of insulation for protection against heat and micrometeroids were dispensed with. Also, instead of the bulky neck ring and hard helmet, the suit had a soft pressure hood that could be unzipped and folded back out of the way. Underneath the hood the astronauts wore a pilot's helmet to hold earphones and microphones. The suits could also be more easily removed and donned inside the tight confines of the spacecraft. Borman and Lovell took turns taking off their suits

GEMINI VII was the only flight where these suits were worn. The SOKOL suits worn on board the Russian SOYUZ spacecraft today are very similar.

Major Project: Concept - 2

"Revving Up the Night: Rendering of the Zakspeed Ford Capri Race Car in an Unconventional Environment"

For the second concept I have the opportunity to work on something distinctively different, yet equally exhilarating. 

My focus for this project is on the legendary Zakspeed Ford Capri race car, which has played a significant role in the automotive industry. However, my challenge was not just to create a stunning rendering of the car, but to place it in an unconventional environment that defies the traditional expectations. 

Inspiration for this project was derived from the extraordinary photograph of Ken Block's Hoonigan taken at night. In the photo, the car is positioned on a city street with wet roads, and the resulting effect is truly awe-inspiring. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be the perfect inspiration for my rendering. 

Before commence this project, I began researching the Ford Capri race car and familiarizing myself with its unique design and features. As an icon of its time, I aimed to capture the car's essence in my rendering, emphasizing its sleek lines, bold colors, and sharp angles to create a powerful impact. 

Next, I wanted to focus on the perfect environment for the car. I chose a city street at night with wet roads to produce a dramatic effect. This environment would accentuate the car's sleek design, allowing it to stand out against the dark backdrop. Additionally, the wet roads would reflect the car's lights, adding depth and dimension to the scene. 

To further enhance the impact of the rendering, I would use a lower angle shot, creating a sense of depth to the background. 

For this project, I would utilize path trace rendering in Unreal, a powerful tool that would allow me to create powerful and striking automotive rendering that captures the essence of the Ford Capri race car in a completely different environment. The contrast of the car's bold design against the dark, wet street creates an unforgettable effect that truly brings the car to life.

gemini in #1, yeah can't lie the gemini suits do slap the hardest. Aesthetically I really like the straps, they make it look like something intentionally designed just to look cool. I think almost all the variants (the early ones that were still shiny like the mercury suits, the regular white ones, the one with the special reinforced pants) look equally good...EXCEPT the g5c suit, frank and jim my boys im so sorry you had to wear that.

spacelab...? do you mean skylab? I'm a lil confused? the skylab suit was pretty similar to the apollo suit (the A7L type suit)...tho the skylab/ASTP versions seem to have these cool red strap things on the top (I just. like straps as a clothing detail...). whether that looks better than the red stripes on the commander version of the apollo suits....🤔🤔🤔

the orange space shuttle suits...this is MY controversial opinion but they are cooler than the apollo/skylab suits from a purely aesthetic standpoint. the earlier version (LES) looks very much like the high altitude pressure suits worn by U-2 and SR-71 pilots which imo is just...chef's kiss. but if we are talking about the shuttle/ISS EVA suit, it honestly looks so similar to the apollo suit it doesn't stand out to me at all. If we are talking about the pre-LES blue suit with the red white and blue striped helmet though that is EASILY top 2 if not #1 (tho it is not a pressurized suit).

Can't disagree w/ the mercury ranking, it is pretty iconic but it does kinda look like a burrito wrap.

And yes even Ham's "spacesuit" if it can be called that looks better than that fucking SpaceX GARBAGE because at least the ham suit looks kind of like those air force pressure suits that people would wear during supersonic test flights. the SpaceX suits, oh my god. I hate them so much. I'm sorry but they literally look like something an evil police force in a cyberpunk series would wear, not space suits.
