My initial thoughts on the LTT Striker Control Device.
Striker Fire Summer is almost upon us.. my roommate/coworker picks up his G19 gen 5 MOS next week. We have some practicing to do. My Wilson Combat match barrel comes in next week so I can remove this silly flush cut barrel and put it back in the Guac-19

Your Glock 19’s Barrel and Rate of Twist
Tumblr media
Admit it. You’ve given more thought to the finish on your barrel than to the ballistic implications of rate of twist. It’s excusable, after all. Gold-tone titanium nitride catches the eye and offers better corrosion resistance than most alternatives. Not only can you not see the rate of twist, but it’s easy to overlook it in favor of other factors that can affect performance and accuracy.
This should, however, not be the case, as rate of twist (AKA twist rate) is one of the most important determinants of accuracy in rifled firearms.
So, let’s place your Glock 19 barrel under closer scrutiny for a moment.
What Is Rate of Twist and Why Does It Matter?
Let’s start with the Gen 5 G19. One of the best all-purpose 9mm handguns of all time, the Gen5 G19 has a 4.02” barrel with a 1:9.84 twist rate.
This means that the bullet completes one revolution around its center axis for every 9.84” of linear distance it travels through the barrel. As the barrel is less than 9.84”, the bullet will not complete one revolution before it exits the barrel.
No matter; this is actually quite common on handguns. But what does matter is how this affects bullet flight and stability.
The lower the second number of twist rate, the faster the bullet will spin. Therefore, a barrel with a 1:8 twist rate (in which the bullet will complete a revolution every 8 linear inches) will cause a bullet to spin faster than a barrel with a 1:9 twist rate.
Several factors directly influence how suitable a given rate of twist is for a cartridge. Among these are the speed at which the propellant deflagrates, the chamber pressure generated (and thereby velocity) and the weight and shape of the bullet.
Though it is hard to make generalizations here, it is true that faster rates of twist are usually needed to stabilize longer, heavier, faster bullets and faster burning powders, whereas slower rates of twist deliver better performance with slower, shorter, heavier bullets.
A 9mm bullet, then, which is by all estimates a relatively slow, short and heavy bullet, will do well with a relatively slower rate of twist.
This is one of the reasons that so many 9mm handguns are outfitted with barrels that deliver a 1:10 twist rate (or very close to that, as in the case of the Gen5 G19).
The thing to keep in mind is that there’s a good deal of variance in the weight of common 9mm loads, ranging from lightweight 115 grain target loads to substantially heavier 147 defensive rounds.
This is where the nearly-ideal middle ground of 1:10 comes into focus, as it offers excellent performance with the widest possible range of 9mm bullet weights.
And that is why when you are looking for a replacement Glock 19 barrel, this is the twist rate you should look for.
A Better Glock 19 Barrel
In the event you are interested in a replacement Glock 19 barrel, while rate of twist is important to ensure a high level of accuracy even at extended ranges, it is not the only thing to look for.
NineX19’s Glock 19 barrels offer this, as well as broach cut rifling and deep cut target crowns that offer uncompromising performance with a wide range of different ammo.
Certain models, like their Match V2 and Revolution barrels are also fluted, available with several different finishes, and available in threaded and non-threaded configurations. As for their ported barrel and slide combos for Glock pistols, they are engineered to split gasses around the sight picture and cut felt recoil as well.
They are among the best Glock 19 barrel upgrades in the industry, and the company also produces and sells a variety of other parts and accessories, including magwells, night sights, and compensators.
For more information, visit their website or get in touch with them directly. Your Glock barrel upgrade is waiting.

Scored an unused gen 4 MOS slide and decided to make this my main Glock dot gov for the gov classes. I use an eps carry on my Staccato so I wanted to keep it the same and the size for the G19 is perfect for concealment.
🔫
I used a plate and screws from @chpws which I would highly recommend for any MOS slide to optic mounting.
🔫
1&2) plate with posts that hold RDS to plate (right) and correct length screws that hold plate to slide
3&4) I red loctite the screws that hold the plate to the slide and blue loctite the screws that hold the RDS to the plate. Either can be loosened easily by holding a soldering iron to the screw or a quality heat gun.
5) replaced front sight and blue loctite
6) replaced rear sight …….I’m not sure the Ameriglo sight numbers but these are POA/POI at 25 and are just tall enough to see through the window.
🔫
I’ll be using this for multiple gov jobs for the next few months as well as any OE classes and I’ll post the performance.

The Argument in Favor of a Compensator for Your Glock Pistol
There is no shortage of popular Glock upgrades you can make. Most of them recommend installing a stronger recoil spring, a heavier guide rod, night sights, a red dot sight, or a new trigger.
Tumblr media
Or something like that.
Not many of those lists consider compensators for Glock pistols, which we think is an oversight.
Let’s not mince words here. There are few if any other upgrades you can make than installing a Glock compensator, such as one of those you can find via the previous link, that will have such a big impact.
We’ll break it down.
How Compensators for Glock Pistols Work All Glock compensators work more or less like any compensator or muzzle brake does: by changing the configuration in which gases are ported at the firearm’s muzzle.
In most compensators (muzzle brakes designed for handguns), the gases are ported upwards.
This has substantial effects on recoil, muzzle flip, and handling.
Less Recoil First and foremost, all compensators for Glock pistols will slash felt recoil. In some instances, they can cut felt recoil by as much as 50%.
That has some serious additional implications, some of which we will cover more closely below.
But in general, it will incur less recoil-induced fatigue, enabling you to shoot for longer and enjoy your time at the range more.
It also makes it easier for those with wrist or shoulder injuries to shoot handguns.
Shoot Larger Caliber Ammo More Comfortable It might not be that big of a deal for those of you that shoot a G17 or a G19, both of which are chambered in light-kicking 9mm.
But recoil becomes a more serious concern when you take a step up, say, to the G20, which is chambered in 10mm Auto, which kicks like a beast.
Since compensators can substantially reduce recoil, that can make heavier cartridges more practical for lighter framed shooters.
Reduces Muzzle Rise, Which Can Improve Accuracy Less recoil means less muzzle flip, which means your sights will jump off the target less between shots, which enables faster, more accurate follow up shots.
No Reduction in Shot Power If you’re thinking “this all sounds great, but diminished recoil must correspond to lesser shot power,” you’d be wrong.
Compensators for Glock pistols can cut recoil without having any impact on shot power - though they will probably affect point of impact slightly, so keep that in mind after installing.
No Need to Make Extensive Modifications to the Gun Last but not least, you won’t need to make extensive modifications to your Glock to install some types of compensators.
Just be aware that there are some that are not compatible with threaded barrels.

7 Must-Have CAA MCK Accessories
Command Arms Accessories (CAA) MCK (Micro Conversion Kits) platforms are unique chassis systems that enable you to convert your handgun into a sort of carbine-style platform, improving recoil management, stability, and accuracy - in some cases well out past 100 yards.
Tumblr media
They also are rife with attachment points and are primed for expansion - making them perfect for CAA MCK accessories like these.
MCK Mag Extension Who couldn’t benefit from a mag extension? This MCK mag extension adds capacity to your Glock mags in a matter of seconds.
It can add +5 to G17 mags, +4 to the G19 or G22, and +3 to the G23. It’s also made from impact-resistant polymer and has a unique base system that allows for easier installation.
MCK Flip-Up Back-Up Sights Red dot sights and scopes are great until they’re not. The batteries die or water or fog cripples them, and then you’re up a creek.
Always, always have a set of flip-up backup iron sights like these. They cost almost nothing, are easy to install, and are waterproof, dark-proof, fog-proof, dust proof, and the batteries on them can never die. MCK Gen 3 Charging Handles (P80 and Glock)
This MCK Gen 3 charging handle, which is perfect for the P80 and many Glock handguns (see the previous link for a full list of compatibility) can vastly improve ergonomics and weapons handling.
It features a new CAA USA backplate and a knurled screw-in handle that can enable much easier handling and manual charging.
MCK Bipod If you do any long-range shooting with your MCK, then an MCK bipod is a must. They’re compatible with a wide range of MCK platforms and can add even more stability if you’re trying to connect with targets out past 100 yards.
MCK Side Adapter Flashlight There are integral front flashlights you can get for micro conversion kits, but the MCK side adapter flashlight just might be better.
It’s made of extremely tough polymer, with a reinforced, rugged switch, and since it’s designed to be mounted to the side of an MCK, keeps the top of the platform as well as the muzzle area free for expanding with other CAA MCK accessories.
For Glock Owners: Extended Barrels Last but not least, we have a very practical upgrade for Glock owners: 16” barrels for Glock handguns (see previous link for a full list of compatibility).
Why upgrade your Glock with a longer barrel when the whole purpose is concealment and maneuverability? Well, because a longer barrel will add both power and accuracy to your shots. It enables you to effortlessly shrink your groups.
Bundle and Save on These CAA MCK Accessories These are only seven of the top CAA MCK accessories in the industry, but as useful as they are, there are a ton of others, such as MCK glass breakers, thumb rests, brass catchers, and Picatinny rail adapters. You can learn more about most of them online at MCSGearup.com.
MCS Gearup also sells bundles that include a bunch of MCK accessories at more reasonable prices. Visit the link above to check out their collection.

Yeah the holster thing is a huge advantage with Glock. I’ve got a G19 gen 3 all set up to carry this summer and it’s been easy getting all the stuff. Barrels, sights, magwells, there’s just so much out there for that system. And the gen 5 is a really nice gun. I was salty about the cost for a little bit but they definitely justify it with the optics mount and enhanced trigger.
I'm really happy with the progress one of my newbie friends is making. He's probably shot with me half a dozen times in the last two years.
Besides accuracy my biggest concern with him is limp wristing. Every time we go shooting he has multiple stovepipes with a handgun and he's the only one in the group who has this problem. He had it happen once yesterday and after I talked to him about it it didn't happen again.
He was also ringing steel pretty consistently. I was using a 2/3 scale silhouette target so it's smaller than normal and I set it at 13 yards which is a bit further than I normally shoot at.
He was hitting it almost half of the time. That's fantastic results for someone who hasn't had very much range time. There's one guy I've been shooting with pretty regularly for about 10 years that probably can't hit that very consistently.
Dude's looking to get his first gun. He was strongly considering a Canik at first. He asked me for my opinion. He asked a few other guys too to make sure I'm not full of shit. The general consensus was that Canik isn't very good but Glock is a solid choice while remaining somewhat budget friendly. This shows me that he doesn't want to half ass this. He's taking it seriously and wants to learn from others who take it seriously.
This guy's off to a good start.

One more heat wave day then it’s back to the 90’s. County Fair is this weekend and then I have a lot of pistol shooting to do. I’ve got mags loaded for the Glock 20 and the Beretta Px4 storm. I’ve also go another box to run through my G19, I’ve been enjoying that little thing a bit more lately. I think I will eventually upgrade to a gen 5 but for now it’s working fine.

GLOCK 19 Gen 5 Review: The Best 9mm Pistol ?
The Glock 19 is one of the most famous and top-selling pistols on the planet. The Glock 19 is the second version after the Glock 17 and was made to be the ideal concealed carry pistol.
It weighs less than 2 pounds loaded and is 7 inches long. It’s no big surprise why Glock 19 is preferred by a huge number of firearm owners as self-defense pistol.
The first observable thing in Gen 5 is how different it feels when you hold it. Around 20 unique adjustments have been made to upgrade the overall experience, even though conventional look of the Glock is still there.
Tumblr media
Glock 19 Gen 5 Pistol Specifications:
Pistol length: 7.6 Inch
Weight: 25.06 ounces
Trigger pull: 5.5 lb.
Barrel length: 4.02 Inch
Metal finish: Matte
Action: Double
Manual Safety: No
Handedness: Ambidextrous
Grip: Polymer
Front & Rear Sight: Fixed
Magazine capacity: 15
Caliber: 9mm
Rifle Ammo Type: Centerfire
Why Glock 19 Gen 5?
The absolute first and best motivation to consider this pistol is because it’s a Glock 19. Potentially the best all-purpose handy handgun ever made. It is satisfactorily big enough to be a duty gun and offer useful precision and a significant magazine capacity while being small and light enough for regular use.
Moreover, one can’t neglect the extraordinary record of reliability offered by Glock pistols. With stock parts, a Glock pistol is almost flawless in operation, even under harsh conditions.
Specific to the Gen 5, you should think about the new Glock 19 for several reasons. To begin with, the slide lock lever is now double sided. So if you are a left handed person, switch the magazine delivery to the right and you will have a completely left handed pistol. For the individuals who like Glock Gun, yet not the grip finger grooves, the Gen5 accompanies a flat face front strap on the grip. No customization is required.
The Gen 5 brings next to no that is new to the shooting experience, with 2 extraordinary unique cases. The Glock 19 has always been a delicate firing, easily managed weapon and it has reliably had precision that will surpass 99.9% of shooters’ capacity. What’s befalling this experience is brought by the new Gen 5 barrel and the flat front strap of the grip.
The new barrel rifling profile is purported to twofold precision at longer ranges. The trigger of Glock 19 Gen 5 feels a slight better compared to of Gen 4. Trigger assembly of Gen 5 is arranged like the Glock 43 and it is totally different from the Gen 4. Gen 5 spring utilizes a polymer spring support and a compression spring.
Tumblr media
Glock19 Gen 5 Features:
Polymer grip
Front serrations
Double semiautomatic action with a 15-round capacity
4.02-inch barrel with a matte finish
5.5-pound trigger pull
Fixed front and rear sight
Malfunctions
You won’t encounter any sort of glitches in Glock 19 Gen 5. The main issue that one can report occasionally is that of the initial 1000 rounds, a slight hesitation as the action chambered the first round of a magazine. This irregularity disappears after around 1000 rounds and it never impacts the performance of the pistol. Every round loaded and fired.
Comfort & Controllability
The Glock 19 is a very comfortable and easy to use pistol. It’s very easy for one to manage recoil of Glock 19. The location of the magazine release is good and you only have to modify the grip slightly to get the medium-sized hands into position to actuate it.
Camouflage & Capacity
Regardless the fact that it is a moderate, the Glock 19 is greater than some in thatorder. In any case, with a respectable and especially made holster, it is helpfully camouflaged in a couple of circumstances on your belt, inside the belt or outside. I wear a Glock 19 with a light in reference area position reliably and never have a printing issue.
Note, notwithstanding, that concealability is overseen essentially by the holster and its arrangement. Most holsters made for hid convey are made inadequately are not arranged to as expected point the gun to support disguise. Watch out!
The Glock 19’s fifteen-in addition to one limit is plentiful, particularly for a minimized. It is no misstep that the Glock 19 sets the norm for size to limit proportion in the gun world.
Conclusion
The Glock 19 Gen 5 is a perfect combination of size and capacity. Some people will like the absence of front-strap finger grooves. The NDLC coating delivers a better looking finish than that of the Gen 4. Like the Gen 4, the Gen 5 has replaceable back straps. The Glock is possibly the most dependable pistol on earth, and Glock claims the Gen 5 is the most dependable yet.

I bought a Glock 19X yesterday. I have been a Glock hater for years, well at least since 2008 when we dumped hundreds of G17's on the Iraqis police and every one of them were junk. I mean we'd be training and parts would just fall off. Before the Brand whores get all pissy, every single one of them was some kind of police trade in gun and that could very well be part of the issue. AnyWHO, I did not like the G17, it felt wrong in my hand (Fucking finger grooves.) and that is all that it took for me to not like it and thus not shoot it well. Fast forward to 2017, my Bride gets a Glock 19 Gen 5 to replace her Kahr PM9 CCW and it is a nail driver. I shot it and I really enjoyed the feel (No finger grooves.) and the balance of it felt right. I knew that some day I'd buy one, but the love of my XD9 (My EDC for the last 12 or 13 years.) was holding me back and the shorter grip of the G19 was still a turn off. Yesterday I was looking for something else and thought I'd look at the 19X. I liked it, it seems to have a the advantages of the G19 with the added grip length to fit my big ass dick beaters. It felt well enough that I bought it. Today we shot it, I'll admit fully I tried to sabotage the 19X right from jump street. 4 years ago I bought 200 rounds of Federal Aluminum for a CCW course, I did not want to shoot my 147 HP handloads, so I bought them as a cheap fix. FUCKING MISTAKE. I had to single shot and charge an entire magazine and the instructor was looking at me like I was a retard. I told him it was the ammo and he smirked, they I finished the course with my 147's and then he believed me. So I loaded 3 mags with the Federals, and the 19X ate them like nothing. It also shot my 115's, 124 HP's and 147 HP's handloads perfectly. It is hitting a bit right for me so I'll have to adjust the sights a bit but is shot well. Next step will be swinging by LAG Tactical and getting a new holster and mag holders made. I love their work, I have holster for the XD9, G19, Kahr PM9 and 1911 made by them. It is great that they are in Reno so I can swing in and pick it up faster than online ordering.
