Chennai Metro Rail Phase 2: Impact on the City’s Real Estate Sector and G Square Realtors’ Role
Chennai, the vibrant capital of Tamil Nadu, is witnessing a transformative shift in its infrastructure with the ongoing expansion of the metro network. Phase 2 of the Chennai Metro Rail project is set to enhance connectivity across the city, fostering economic growth and reshaping the urban landscape. This transformation will have a profound impact on various sectors, particularly real estate, and companies like G Square Realtors are positioning themselves to take advantage of the opportunities arising from this development.
Chennai Metro Rail Phase 2: A Transformative Expansion
Phase 2 of the Chennai Metro project is a significant milestone in the city's urban development. Stretching across approximately 118.9 km, with 128 stations, this phase is designed to improve connectivity and provide easy access to vital areas across the city. The project will include multiple new metro routes that will connect the growing residential, commercial, and industrial areas of Chennai.
Key Routes and Stations in Chennai Metro Rail Phase 2
The expansion of the metro in Phase 2 will introduce several key corridors to the Chennai Metro system, including:
Corridor 3: Madhavaram to SIPCOT – 45.8 km
Corridor 4: Lighthouse to Poonamallee – 26.1 km
Corridor 5: Madhavaram to Sholinganallur – 47 km
These corridors will include both elevated and underground sections, providing enhanced accessibility to destinations across the city, including residential hubs and commercial districts. This expansion promises to revolutionize Chennai’s mobility, resulting in significant economic growth and real estate development in key areas.
Impact of Chennai Metro Rail Phase 2 on Real Estate
The Phase 2 expansion of the Chennai Metro will significantly alter the city’s real estate landscape. Key factors influencing property values and investment opportunities are outlined below:
Enhanced Connectivity and Accessibility :The introduction of new metro routes will drastically improve the accessibility of suburban areas such as Poonamallee, Sholinganallur, Medavakkam, Perumbakkam, and Thoraipakkam. These areas will become increasingly desirable to homebuyers and investors, driven by the promise of easier commutes to commercial hubs, IT parks, and other important business districts. As a result, there is expected to be a rise in demand for residential and commercial properties along these corridors.
Property Value Appreciation: Metro infrastructure has a proven track record of boosting property values along its corridors. Phase 2 is expected to follow this trend, with areas like Madhavaram, Navalur, and Poonamallee witnessing significant property value appreciation. As the metro improves access to previously less-connected locations, these areas will become prime real estate hotspots, driving both residential and commercial development.
Increased Development Potential :The metro network’s expansion will stimulate both residential and commercial developments. Developers are already eyeing properties along the new corridors, anticipating an increase in demand for housing and commercial spaces. This influx of investment will increase land prices, especially near metro stations, as developers strive to meet the growing demand for convenient living and working spaces.
Focus on Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) :The Phase 2 expansion is expected to spur Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) in Chennai. TOD aims to create vibrant, mixed-use communities around metro stations that prioritize walking and easy access to public transportation. With the metro enhancing connectivity, developers like G Square Realtors are poised to leverage TOD principles, developing residential, commercial, and retail spaces around metro stations to meet the needs of Chennai’s growing population.
New Investment Opportunities: The expansion of the metro network creates valuable opportunities for investors looking to diversify their real estate portfolios. Properties near metro stations will experience increased demand, potentially leading to higher rental yields and long-term capital appreciation. For savvy investors, the areas surrounding new metro routes present substantial growth potential as the city’s infrastructure improves.
Benefits for the Commercial and Retail Sectors: As metro connectivity improves, commercial and retail sectors will experience significant benefits. Areas with easy access to metro stations will see higher foot traffic, benefiting businesses with increased visibility and customer patronage. Retail properties in locations like Poonamallee and Perumbakkam are likely to become more attractive to business owners seeking high-traffic areas, contributing to the growth of the commercial real estate market.
G Square Realtors: Capitalizing on Metro Expansion
As Chennai’s metro network expands, G Square Realtors is at the forefront of leveraging these opportunities. With residential and commercial properties strategically located near metro corridors, G Square focuses on facilitating seamless commutes for residents while fostering vibrant, connected communities. As the demand for properties in these areas increases, G Square is poised to meet this demand with high-quality developments, offering both residential and commercial spaces to match the evolving needs of the city.
Conclusion
The Chennai Metro Rail Phase 2 project is set to revolutionize the city’s connectivity, bringing new opportunities for growth and development across the urban landscape. With a vast network of new corridors, improved travel times, and enhanced accessibility, the metro will have a lasting impact on the city’s real estate market. Investors, developers, and homebuyers should look to capitalize on the growing demand for properties near metro stations, as areas like Poonamallee, Sholinganallur, and Medavakkam become more attractive.
Companies like G Square Realtors are already positioning themselves to offer residential and commercial properties that cater to this shift in demand. By focusing on key areas along the metro corridors, G Square is helping to shape the future of urban living in Chennai. As the city’s mobility improves, so too will the opportunities for real estate growth, making the Phase 2 expansion a promising prospect for all involved.

G Square Real Estate, one of South India's leading plot promoters, recently unveiled a groundbreaking program under the name 'G Square – Wheels of Hope.' This program allows the specially-abled to register online using the newly developed website for receiving motorized wheelchairs. With an objective of distributing over 1000 motorized wheelchairs, G Square Real Estate has gone out all guns blazing in striving toward the target and has already shown enormous progress by presenting the wheelchairs to over 100 beneficiaries at the first initial event held at G Square Dynasty in Mahabalipuram.
As part of the event, employees from the G Square Real Estate company delivered the wheelchairs personally to the recipients while promising employment opportunities to those who were selected. Emphasizing the gap this initiative hopes to bridge for mobility-impaired persons, Ramajeyam said it is assisting differently abled persons in regaining autonomy in life, especially in commuting and working. "This is just the beginning. The success of this initiative has shown its tremendous impact, and we are planning to distribute more than 1000 motorized wheelchairs in the upcoming phases," he added.

Plotted Communities Growth Horizons G Square Real Estate is not only limited to Tier-I cities such as Chennai and Coimbatore. G Square's journey has taken it to the scale of expanding into Tier-II and Tier-III locations like Ambur, Trichy, Pollachi, Dindigul, Tiruppathur, Theni, and Udumalpet. G Square made quality living spaces more accessible by offering premium residential choices in regions not previously served. The Value Proposition: Wholesale Benefits for Retail Customers The other defining strength of G Square lies in its ability to function as a wholesaler with all the efficiency while being at the retail customers' doorstep. This direct cost advantage passes on to the clients, which gives quality plots at competitive prices without losing standards. This customer-first philosophy has helped catapult the brand quickly in the market.
In this phenomenal journey of the brand, Managing Director at G Square Realtors, Mr. Bala Ramajeyam, said, "From the last 12 years, G Square emerged from the concept to the brand rewriting the dictionary of real estate. Our objectives never remained just about selling plots but building a heritage where our customers find more than just land-they find a real home.". This achievement is a testament of our excellent team that has been dedicated towards this and the trust in us given by our customers. We are proud of our progress, but we are also waiting to achieve more milestones as we continue to build toward a future for real estate, it added.
Aasheeraam completion celebrated with "Spin and Win at G Square To celebrate this great achievement, G Square, in association with its customers, is excited to introduce the unique customer initiative - "Spin and Win at G Square." Whosoever books his plot shall get a chance of winning goodies ranging from smart phones to home appliances and to wards gold vouchers of up to Rs. 1 lakh.
Today, G Square has successfully completed over 100 projects and in such ventures, it has developed 50 million sq. ft of land across the several prominent regions of Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Karnataka. Haunted Houses
Written as a special treat for Halloween and for @tonystarkbingo
Title of Fill: Haunted Houses Collaborator: iam93percentstardust Card Number: 4012 Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/20504642/chapters/66707110 Square Filled: K5 - Ghosts Ship/Main Pairing: Tony&Bucky, pre-Stuckony Rating: G Major Tags/Warnings/Triggers: Past Major Character Death, Howard Stark's A+ Parenting Summary: Bucky decides that he doesn’t want to move toward the light after he dies. Instead, he settles down where he’s always lived and keeps everyone else out by haunting the place. He meets his match though in Steve, a real estate agent who’s too stubborn to give up on the house, and Tony, recently come into his inheritance and looking for a place to hide. Word Count: 1151
When Tony is twenty years old, his godfather murders his parents. That would be bad enough but Obie doesn’t stop there. First there’s his parents, and then Obie tries to go after the company, and then when Tony finds the proof he needs to have Obie convicted of double dealing, the man tries to have him murdered too. By the time Obie’s trial is over, Tony has cut Ty out of his life, sold the mansion on Park Avenue, and had his first meeting with a realtor too hot to be allowed.
“So Tony, what dream home are you interested in?” Steve, the realtor too hot to have such a boring name, asks him.
Tony fingers the corners of the photo he’d tucked into his wallet. He’d found the picture a couple weeks ago when he had been going through his mom’s things. It’s a picture of him when he’d been much younger holding hands with someone invisible. It had stirred something in his memory, some vague thoughts of a brownstone that he and his mom had escaped to whenever Howard had been in one of his moods. He had flipped the picture over to see a caption on the back in his mom’s neat penmanship: Tony and Bucky at the house on Rose Street. That’s right: Bucky and the only happy memories of Tony’s childhood.
“A brownstone,” he tells Steve, the too hot realtor. He doesn’t want to sound like he already has the house he wants in mind. He draws a circle on Steve’s map in a wide radius around Stark Tower. He’s pretty fortunate that the brownstone isn’t too far from either his parents’ mansion or the tower, although, now that he’s thinking about it, maybe that’s why his mom had picked this one over all others. “Around this area.”
Steve looks at it, humming doubtfully. “Lot of retirees in this area. Might not be a whole lot of places up for sale,” he says and then hurries to reassure him, “But I’ll see what I can do!”
“I don’t much like people,” Bucky says, helping Tony put the next Lego on his tower.
“You like me,” Tony points out.
Bucky gives him a broad grin. “That’s cause you’re my Tony Cat. You’re special.”
If Bucky is still anything like how he used to be, he’d be willing to bet that house is up for sale again, or will be soon. Ghosts can be vicious little monsters when they want to be. There’s a reason there are all those PSAs on what to do if you’ve got a stubborn ghost living in your house.
A wave of doubt rushes over him. Sure Bucky had liked him back then but that was then. This is now. He’s not the same little boy he used to be and he definitely remembers Bucky telling him once that it’s adults that he really doesn’t like. For all he knows, Bucky has forgotten all about him. Maybe Bucky has a dozen small children that he’s treated like they’re special over the years. Howard’s told him often enough that he isn’t special. Maybe it’s time he believes it.
But…
He thinks back over the memories he’d shared with Bucky, the peace he had felt every time he so much as stepped foot inside the door of the brownstone, and makes his decision. No, Bucky might not remember him but this is what he needs right now. He’s tired, exhausted after the long months of dealing with Obie, Ty, and SI. He needs a break away from it all and since he can’t actually take a holiday without causing a stock market crash, being able to have his own little hideaway is perfect.
“That’s all I ask for,” he says quietly and ducks away to hide a blush when Steve smiles at him.
~
Steve takes him to five houses before they finally end up at Bucky’s brownstone on Rose Street. Tony has managed to find something wrong with all of the other houses except for one and that one, he was able to be sufficiently lackluster about that Steve had made a frustrated sound, promised him that they would find his perfect house, and dragged him away.
“That last place was okay,” he protests quietly as Steve guides him up the steps of Bucky’s brownstone with a hand on the small of his back. Steve’s hand is bleeding warmth through his jacket, even in the late autumn chill, and he finds himself pressing back into it.
Easy boy, you just got over Ty.
“It wasn’t okay, you didn’t even look at the breakfast nook,” Steve informs him. “I’m going to find you a house you’ll actually love.”
Steve sticks the key in the lock and opens the door, his friendly smile immediately dropping into a sharp glare as he catches sight of something inside the house. Tony frowns curiously, trying to shift into a position where he could see the inside but he can’t.
“I’m not gonna lie to you. This house comes with a ghost but Bucky’s a real sweetheart long as you treat him right,” Steve tells him as he steps aside, letting Tony into the house.
Almost immediately, Tony is awash with memories of a time when things were better, simpler even. A time when he had spent all of his free time with his mom, playing with Bucky, never thinking about having to impress Howard or placating shareholders or having to keep an eye out over his shoulder for Obie’s assassins.
“I don’t care,” he says softly, looking around the foyer for Bucky.
And there he is, gently letting go of a lamp that looks like it’s been repaired several times. So that’s what Bucky does to people he doesn’t like; he does a poltergeist routine. It doesn’t really surprise him. Tony remembers Bucky having a bit of a mischievous streak when he’d been a child. He bites back a smile.
“Hi,” Bucky says, his outline abruptly solidifying the way it does when he goes from invisible to visible. Tony wonders if Steve can see Bucky when he’s invisible too or if he’d been glaring at what must have looked like a floating lamp.
“Hey,” he murmurs. There’s no indication that Bucky remembers him even the slightest bit and he bites back a wince. He’d told himself not to get his hopes up, hadn’t he?
He keeps an eye on Bucky as Steve shows him around the house. It’s the same as he remembers it, just a little more musty, and his resolve firms with every step he takes. So maybe Bucky doesn’t remember him. That’s okay, they can become friends again. This house is exactly what he needs.
“I’ll take it,” he says, startling Steve.
“I—really?” Steve asks, shooting a glance at Bucky, who nods. He wonders what that’s all about.
“Yeah,” Tony says, nodding resolutely. “I’ll take it.”

2018 McGingerbread Hell Competition Winners
Happy New Year, Folks! I’m pleased to announce the winners of this (past) year’s McGingerbread Hell Gingerbread House Competition!!
First off, I cannot find the words to say how much joy each and every entry to this competition has brought me. Every single one of the participants put their 100% best McMansion Hell face on and the results were charming, hilarious, and, if we’re being punny here, downright sweet. This may be the best idea this blogger has ever had.
Second, let me say that the when I say the competition was fierce, I mean, it was fierce. So much so that I drafted the fellow judgement of two of my favorite colleagues, my literary agent Caroline Eisenmann, and fellow architecture critic/Editor of Chicago Architect Magazine Anjulie Rao to help me narrow the 43 contestants down to 8.
Just a note: Last names of the winners have been abbreviated for privacy reasons. If you would like your full name to be published instead, please email [email protected] with your preferred name.
We’re going to start our line up with the 5 honorable mentions in alphabetical order, after which there will be a break to take those of you scrolling through this on the dashboard to the full article where the top 3 McMansions will be revealed.
Without further ado...
Honorable Mention #5 : Manoir de emporte-pièce by Anya D.
The judges were impressed by the whimsy, creativity and finely detailed execution of Anya’s house. Caroline summed it up best: “what else is a McMansion if not a bunch of smaller houses wrapped into one package?”
Anya writes:
Hi I'm Anya and I'm 12. I made my Gingerbread house from Gingerbread I mixed and baked myself. The house shapes came from a cookie cutter. It's held together with royal icing frosting I made. The shingles are almonds and the house off to the side is the dog house and has candy dog bones on it. The "lights" on parts of it are candy balls. I hope you like it!
Honorable Mention #4: AMAZING Custom Home with Quality Features by Sydney E.
The judges were impressed by the house’s fine craftsmanship, attention to detail (especially the peppermint columns, the gumdrop crenellations, and the chandelier in the back) and great sense of humor. Anjulie remarked: “Love the inclusion of the nuclear family.” What really had us in stitches was Sydney’s wonderfully rich description, especially this part:
“...You'll know you're living in the lap of luxury when you see the ENORMOUS GOLD CHANDELIER in the dining room. But it's the ROOFTOP PATIO with no discernible purpose or point of entry that will really set you apart from your neighbors. "Hey, how did you get up there?" they'll ask, but you're not telling (mysterious!). The landscaping will make you feel like you're in the countryside, in a sea of royal icing TURF GRASS (shown here, lightly dusted with coconut snow). The FOUR TREES on the property are either too far from the house to provide any shade (stately!) or extremely close to the house and actively obscuring at least one window (posh!). The entire house, the front walk, and the driveway are all bordered in royal icing ENGLISH IVY, which is definitely never going to be a problem for native plants (colonial!).”
Honorable Mention #3: Suburban Hobbit House by Jennifer K. & Cara M.
The judges were impressed by the difficulty of execution in Jennifer and Cara’s house, especially the dome, the cleverness of using almonds as cladding, and the hilariously barren “asphalt” lawn complete with soul patch. Kate remarked: “Pretty sure I saw this exact house in Bergen County, New Jersey.”
Jennifer and Cara wrote about their house:
Made of solid gingerbread in shape of skulls (had the pans), graham crackers, lots of icing, nuts, chocolate, a candy cane, grape tic-tacs, decorator sprinkles, butter-rum Lifesavers, fondant, Tootsie Rolls, and a loaf of rosemary bread. Round center mass house with back porch nub, two wings, a charming turret. We totally meant for it to look this way.
Honorable Mention #2: European Charme by Núria O.
The judges were very impressed with the fine detailing (such as the columns, balustrades, and front door), the crisp, clean execution of the design, and total commitment to the McMansion Aesthetic™ from front to rear, including the completely barren lawn.
Núria describes the house in finely practice Realtor-ese:
Beautiful gazillion-square-feet chalet featuring lots of personality and European flair. This cozy 4-bedroom, 10-bathroom cottage is made of sturdy construction-grade tan-beige gingerbread from top to bottom. Roof plates are structurally tinted, not painted, ensuring a durable color that will last until the last crumble is eaten. Windows glazing is made of gelatine sheets coated with black-coloured blueberry jam to ensure privacy as you lounge by the bay window or enjoy the views from the beautiful faux-balcony.
All doors are solid gum paste, with royal icing on all window frames as well as the balustrade. This home is ideal for entertaining, with its luxurious two-story entrance featuring genuine Spanish _neula_ columns with doric capitals, ornated pediment and a quaint half-tindered wall that gives true European _charme_. Utilities are housed in a lovely turret next to the service door. The garage accomodates two SUVs or six European sedan cars. The magnificent brown-sugar-paved front yard features icing plants and a signature landscaped crushed-sprinkle turf patch on cookie soil. The same type of grass was used in the large, sunny backyard which also has a patio area.
Honorable Mention #1: Existential Crisis on 34th Street by Caitlin R.
The judges were very impressed by the house’s clever use of different baking materials and attention to detailing, especially in the icing work. Kate was especially excited by the rounded gingerbread turret, and Anjulie loved the “Existential Crisis” detail and monumental marshmallow columns. The description had Caroline especially in stitches.
Caitlin describes the house:
This nine-bedroom mansion is made from the most exquisite of gingerbreads. Lovingly handmade from scratch, and crafted by local artisans, it's ready for your own sweet family. Grecian inspired columns impose your might on the neighborhood, while a pebble-clad tower with bay windows adds a touch of country charm. Architectural details include a 'stonework' wall and chimney, sweet dormer windows, and a luxurious back porch. A myriad of windows let light into this expanded historic house - the original building dates all the way back to 1982! Come by today, and soon you'll be calling this three-and-a-half story, Greco-Chateauesque Italian Revival Americana, 18,600 square foot mansion - home!
Now on to the TOP 3 PRIZEWINNING HOUSES!
It all comes down to this. It was stiff competition through and through, and the judges deliberated long and hard about who the top 3 spots should go to. Each house showed tremendous ability in craftsmanship, detailing, and McMansion Engineering. Without further ado:
Third Prize: Saccharin Sanctuary by Christa H.
The judges were wowed by the amazing craftsmanship and attention to detail present in Christa’s house. Caroline was impressed by the use of Cinnamon Toast Crunch as shingling, Anjulie loved the jellybean stone accents, and Kate found the use of sticks of gum as fake-stucco siding to be very clever. The execution of the lawyer foyer, turret, and appropriately nonsensical rear exterior put this house in to the third place slot.
Christa’s description, in perfect Realtorese:
This fabulous 1.5 story house features a gorgeous columned entry, double garage, show-stopping turret, and the picture perfect back patio. Built from the finest gingerbread and white chocolate... you can be sure that this house has a superior foundation that you can trust for years to come. Jelly Beans, spear mint Lifesavers, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Double Mint gum among other award winning materials make this house’s curb appeal unforgettable! List Price: 🍬574,900 Est Mortgage: 🍬2,240/mo Listed By: Sugar & Space Reality®️
Second Prize: The Hundred Thousand by Louisa G.
The judges were blown away by, as they say, the sheer size of this lad. The monumentality of such a massive roof must have taken some serious gingerbread engineering, all while perfectly encapsulating McMansion Roof Culture. The engineering, clean execution, attention to detail (millions of nonpareils!!), and true, well, McMansion-ness of this house vaulted (ceiling) it into 2nd place.
Louisa describes the house thusly:
The Hundred Thousand has no equal. This 37-piece towering gingerbread edifice was baked and constructed over four days during the heat of an Australian summer, by an Australian and a Finn, using a Finnish gingerbread recipe. Inspired by Mt. Nub, The Hundred Thousand boasts a porcine screaming porch, eight ahoy-mateys windows, a royally-iced gable front that almost but not entirely obscures the front door, and palatial grounds landscaped with topiary sweets, all topped off with a soaring roof tiled with hundreds & thousands.
So many hundreds & thousands were used that the builders ran out of material - causing the construction project to grind to a halt for almost ten minutes, until the Australian’s father arrived with more much-needed building supplies. The Hundred Thousand was fixed together using high-quality caramel, and is internally braced by two large gingerbread cross-panels. This fantastic abode required nearly 2kg of flour and eight eggs (provided by the Australian’s chickens) and was constructed as large as the oven would allow, measuring a whopping 40 cm across on the front facade, and nearly 30 cm high.
And finally, (DRUMROLL PLEASE)
First Prize: Casa de McGingerHell by Beth and Tina C.
From the moat, dome skylight, and lawyer foyer, to the rice crispy treat retaining wall, and chocolate rocks, this house, in the words of Caroline, was “truly next level.” The judges were blown away by the incredible attention to detail and clever use of different materials, specially the pretzel railing on the bridge, the marshmallow penguins, and we all freaked over those sugar glass and water elements. From the several different types of windows, bizarre massing, and three car garage, this house encapsulates the deranged opulence of McMansions in the sweetest way possible.
Beth and Tina describe their house:
Located centrally and literally dominating the entire living room, this McGingerMansion features over twenty handcrafted stained glass windows, a double sized garage, and three hand laid rock face walls! This gingermansion also has not one, but two incredible water features including a delightful frozen waterfall in the spacious backyard. Boasting several pre-decorated pine trees surrounding the property, this festive gingermansion showcases several dozen strands of lights and as well as a handful of charming wreaths.
The one hundred percent genuine pretzel log deck overlooking the backyard is the perfect place to entertain friends and family alike, especially during the holiday season! Standing at just over a foot and a half tall, this truly massive gingermansion has a total composition of just over twenty pans worth of gingerbread. Call now to schedule a tour today; this gingermansion won't last long! *Disclaimer: As required of us by law, we must disclose the presence of a minor pest infestation in the form of roughly a dozen cute, but possibly rabid penguins on the property.

He viewed the world as the first cinematograph when he would be walking around this mortal world. The people in constant motion, the quality of viewing, and even trying to add the old piano music along for the ride. It was the only thing that was keeping him sane before walking into a church to drown himself in holy water.
Fixing his black gloves as the coat man took his cloak off the from the hanger. He placed his dark purple hat on top of his head then prepared himself for the walk out to start his day. Breakfast was on his mind Walking out to the cool evening as the world changed into the fast moving of what he saw.
Till his eyes drifted to her..is when the reality of how the world looks would come back to his sight. Hundreds of times he’s witnessed this moment...words still manage to fall short in this instance. It was how she carried herself around the world when he would see her. Always walking with a destination to go..strong footsteps..not light like some kind of fae.
To him..she was an absolute Goddess…
She walked down the street with a basket full of pastries to take home with her which I’m assuming was her little herb shop down the street from my home. Till a bum came running behind her, pushing her down and snatching her basket.
“Thank you for the free pastries! You bitch!” He screamed as I held my cane up to hit him on his leg, collapsing before me and basically rolling all over the sidewalk in pain. Grabbing the basket from the ground as she dusted off her dress then smiling as I handed her basket back to her.
“Ummm..thank you Sir Lee.” Her eyes always looked down when we would first come into contact. But never doing the lifting of the chin so we could meet. It was seeing her standing before me in embarrassment or even humility.
The sunset was causing a little sunburned was beginning form which was time for me to get into the next building. Tipping my hat to her as I moved swiftly past her but her eyes lingering as they always do after we first meet..
“Wait..Sir Lee..if it’s not too much of a burden..may I ask… Oh never mind you look like in a hurry.”
“No please..your want is my command.” She gulped as she hid her face again from me..I don’t mean to frighten her. Just these precious moments seem to fly by so damn quickly.
“I know it’s not far..but will you please walk me home..if it’s out of your way then never mind. Oh never mind you’re too busy!” She scurried off before I could even give her my answer..which will always be yes....
When it comes to the sunlight and vampires. It is your enemy yes..but you won’t burst into a pile ashes with being in it. Eventually they become a little resistant to it so going outside to the world with the sun won't kill them. It’ll hurt a little bit at first so basically it’s like they’re getting a very bad sunburn. Luckily for Gwil. He’d been alive since the 7th century so the sun hadn’t been a major issue to keep himself alive. Still hurts after a little bit.
In his bright red 63’ Corvette Stingray which stuck out like a sore thumb, traveling up along the coast in the strong winds of the night traveling along with him. He was determined that this would be the last time..or would just stay outside on the sunniest day of the year.
Parking at the cottage as the sun was already setting creating a gorgeous orange backdrop of what he would be viewing for when he wakes up from his slumber. The realtor came out of the cottage with her perky smile on her face and a large yellow folder for all the paperwork he has to sign.
“Mr. Lee! It’s truly a pleasure doing business with you!” She shook my hand with her eyes trailing up and down my body. I can’t tell you how many damn times these women just keep staring at me like I’m some sort of eye candy to them. Quite revolting.
“Now you’re more than welcome to walk around to see how the movers got everything put together and ready to go.” This isn’t the first home I’ve had to buy over the millennials. Usually my home has been a castle, some large mansion, and large flat on a square.
Sitting on top of the hill the cottage sat that was a pearl white color but was also a little into the hill so the top would be covered in grass. Keeps a nice natural temperature for the house. My new home was a little smaller than most of the grand places I’ve lived before. As in it’s not a castle, a mansion, or even large flat on the square. It had a living room, a bedroom that is pitch black..for obvious reasons. No kitchen which makes the living room much larger. Then of course a bathroom.
“Now regarding the whole no kitchen. I can always expand the cottage for some room for a tiny little kitc.
“No kitchen needed. I plan on doing most of my cooking outside so to enjoy the view.” Lying to her as she nodded then placed the paperwork I needed to finish signing on the living room table. Scribbling down my signature on the lines so I could get this woman out of my hair. I’ve got things to start working on before tomorrow evening when she should be shopping for the catch of the day.
“Please doing business with you mam and I hope we can do business again.” Practically shoving her out of the cottage then locking the door tightly. Might as well get some rest before I go grab some dinner.
The curtains were shut all over the living room of the cottage as I walked over to the record player. Usually some very light chants get me to fall asleep after a move such as this. Pressing the play button as the house was beginning to fill with beautiful music.
IF it’s one thing I miss about the 13th century was the vast amount of chants that were sung all Sundays. Thought entering a church would practically be a death sentence for myself..walking by them in the early mornings after a night of hunting was always pleasurable.
Entering into the bedroom to see a very large cat sitting in the middle of my bed. His tail softly moving on top of the covers, those very yellow green eyes were staring directly at me..as if he was planning on pouncing at any moment. Cats in this world are very interesting. The whole “cats have nine lives” is very real and to the point some cats have been with me for a very long time...all annoying with their meows and purs.
“Look. As much as I love cats and all the so called happiness you bring to this world. I would prefer not to have you in my home. So c’mon.” Standing at the edge of the bed but he wasn’t moving an inch..stubborn feline!
“Alright then you stubborn feline.” My hands reaching down to him as he began squinting at me.
“Call me a feline again..I dare you ya bloody blood sucker!” Did...did he just talk…? That’s so damn impossible! I must be tired and a little bit of a headache most likely because I’m hungry!
“Shocked to see a feline talking to you?”
“HOLY SHIT!” Falling to the floor as I backed myself to the dresser! Stopping so that he wouldn’t pounce at me to scratch my eyes out!
“How the!?! What the!?”
“Your really going to question why I’m talking? We live in a world with vampires, witches, and other mythical creatures. Is a talking cat really so bizarre that you threw yourself against the dresser?” He had a thick American accent which stung like a viper somehow! Still sitting on top of my bed but closer to the edge so we could have some sort of eye contact.
“If I say yes...I get the feeling you’ll scratch my eyes out.” He sat in the middle of my legs. His ears pointed straight up as I tried to get this entire situation in my head. Like I said..I’ve had cats follow me around..but none of them have ever had some sort of conversation!
“So you’re a talking cat...and you’re bothering me because…?”
“I’ve heard of you before. You’re very famous for your tragic story. To some fellow immortals your story makes even Elvis Presley sad.” Elvis is alive?
“Elvis is alive? I thought he died in 1970 or something…?” Rolling his eyes as he got down from the bed and even appeared bigger than what he was on the bed. His grey fur was very fluffy and his paws were massive for a cat.
“You’re missing the point you idiot! Those of us who have been wandering this world since the beginning have seen heart aches and the destruction. But you..oh boy have you inspired the masses.” For an American cat his vocabulary is better than what I thought it would be.
“So you’re bothering me because I inspired the masses?”
“Nope. I’m here to help your dumbass because after watching this fail countless times..it’s now just utterly depressing.” This cat is making me feel absolutely stupid! A stupid cat is making me feel so god damn stupid!
“You may call me Hyacinth! That’s what my last owner called me and I’ve liked the way it sounds. Now I’ve got to grab some dinner and your stomach growling is flooding my ears. So let’s go find some sort of grub!” Prancing off into the living room as I stayed there in shock. His head poking back into the room with annoyance written all over his face.
Opening the door as he walked out to the front porch, looking around the coast before us. I’m feeling elk. DO you think I go running around eating whatever virgin blood is available? I got tired of human blood around the 14th century...mostly because that nasty plague.
We started walking along the coast in silence..trying to read each other’s thoughts, emotions, and not wanting to attack each other. He doesn’t plan on staying around does he? I need to get on with my life and this cat will get in the way with it!
“So..Hyacinth. I know you said you’re here to help...but why and how do you plan on helping me?” We stopped walking as he entered the water a little then began searching for some sort of fish.
“Like I said. Some of us have had enough of what happens. You think you’re alone in this world..but you’re not the only ones who’ve been completely thrown under the bus. We figured if we start with you..eventually we can all finally have some sort of peace in our lives. A spark has to..” He stopped to dive his head down then pulled out a tiny fish in his mouth.
Their pools of blood crept into my nose with my eyes turning dark red. They’re so close..small animals have been doing the trick..but they’re so..juicy! A white cloudy trail appeared before me that would lead me to those Elk! I could distinctly hear their calm heart beats which was like hearing Beethovens symphony’s for the time! Loud! And so damn desirable!
Squatting on the rock from a short distance to see their blood vessels flowing through each of their bodies. Which one was diseased, weak, pregnant, and the healthiest. My tongue grazing against my lips, my fangs beginning to grow from hunger. It's been so long since I’ve been fully filled..
It’s come down to the point where drinking human blood is just gross. Most humans blood these days are filled with so much damn sugar, diseases, drugs, and even to much damn coffee. But animal blood..no..wild animal blood that live on the richness of nature it was fuels me now. Mostly small animals..since I’ve been living in areas where Elk just don’t come to live in your backyard.
Hyacinth wandered over to where I was drowning myself in my delectable meal. Once finished, he sat down next to me as I sat up. Licking the blood off my lips then beginning to clean myself up.
“As she ever seen your true form?” Catching my breath as he looked up at me.
“Yes..every time. She never cowards away..”
“I think I’m beginning to hatch a scheme for us. Oh yes..it’s all coming together.”

Gluttony: Sin of Lust and Greed (Part One)
Martin G. Collins
A Realty Times magazine article, "Gluttony . . . Sheer Gluttony: Tyson's Connecticut City—uh, home—goes on the market," tells of how prizefighter Mike Tyson bought a Farmington, Connecticut, estate for $3 million and made some "modest" upgrades: a 3,500 square-foot nightclub designed for 1,000 people, and a 1,500 square-foot exercise facility. The house has 18 bedrooms, 24 full bathrooms, 14 half-baths, an indoor racquetball court, 7 kitchens, a theater, an elevator, a 3-story foyer, and 50 skylights. Tyson has admitted to Prime Time Live that he has probably visited it only five times, yet after a year, he grew tired of his 56,000 square-foot pastime, putting it up for sale for $25 million!
Although Tyson has invested millions upgrading the estate, Connecticut realtors believe he will not get much beyond the initial $3 million for it since $250,000-500,000 homes surround it. What a waste—millions of dollars squandered in gluttonous spending.
With human reasoning being what it is, it is not surprising to see our present society deeply against self-responsibility. Most people today have convinced themselves that they are not personally responsible for their actions, and this applies to gluttony. They reason, "It must be genetic," or "I have a disease." Gluttony is considered merely socially unpleasant rather than a sin. Few in this society know what it is or why it is wrong.
What is gluttony? Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary: Tenth Edition defines a glutton as "one given habitually to greedy and voracious eating and drinking." Voracious is "having a huge appetite: ravenous; excessively eager: insatiable." Synonyms for "gluttony" are greed, avarice, gorge, epicure, cram, stuff and guzzle. Children who eat voraciously are said to "eat us out of house and home," and an adult who eats often "plays a good knife and fork."
We associate gluttony most often with overeating, but it can occur in many other forms such as drinking, smoking, gambling, sex, accumulating material things, or even too much studying and researching of a narrowly defined subject in theology, health, genealogy—the list is endless. The key term, however, is "too much." Signs of gluttony are too soon, too eagerly, too quickly.
Gluttony Is Destructive
The Bible ascribes a great deal of destructive power to gluttony, as in Proverbs 30:21-22: "For three things the earth is perturbed, yes, for four it cannot bear up: . . . A fool when he is filled with food. . . ." Physically, what is so harmful about it?
An old English proverb says, "Gluttony kills more than the sword." Another maintains, "There are more gluttons than alcoholics in the grave." This certainly seems true today. In the last five years, sales of oversized coffins at the nation's largest casket company are up 20 percent. Why? The November 8, 1999, issue of U.S. News and World Report answers this in an informative article entitled, Why We're Fat:
Both men and women are getting fat in epidemic proportions. Well over half of all American adults—about 63 percent of men and 55 percent of women age 25 and older—are overweight. Last week in a special issue devoted entirely to obesity, the Journal of the American Medical Association reported new statistics that are nothing short of astonishing for a nation seemingly so obsessed with health and fitness: The rate of obesity—18 percent—has soared from 12 percent just seven years ago, making the United States now secure in its position as the fattest nation in the developed world.
"The rate is shocking," says Jeffery Koplan, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, "and it means that we have a huge public health problem." Indeed, depending on weight and age, obesity significantly increases the risk of high blood pressure and high cholesterol, diabetes, and gallbladder disease.
Gluttony is sheer defiance of reasonable and balanced behavior. Benjamin Franklin says of man's proclivity to overeat, "In general, mankind, since the improvement of cookery, eats twice as much as nature requires." Each person must determine what is necessary to sustain him, measuring his indulgence in eating and drinking to ensure it is healthy for him.
Obese men risk serious health problems, as Why We're Fat relates:
The potbelly that men often grow in their middle years is not just unattractive, it's dangerous. . . . The midlife paunch, which doctors call "visceral fat," poses a risk because it surrounds the internal organs. It releases fatty acids that make their way into the liver, diminishing the organ's ability to process the hormone insulin, eventually causing diabetes. The fat also affects how the kidneys process insulin, a factor that scientists say may lead to high blood pressure. For every 10 percent increase over normal weight, men and women have about a 20 percent jump in risk for heart disease. [See the inset, "Body Mass Index," to see how health officials determine obesity.]
Obesity is a terrible problem, and unlike other epidemics like a flu epidemic, it will not go away on its own. Some would have us believe that there is nothing wrong with being fat—that people just find it distasteful and assume it is unhealthy. Actually, doctors say fat is unhealthy because a multitude of studies for decades has shown it to be so. Former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop says, "We know that excessive weight fosters everything from diabetes and heart disease to breast cancer, colorectal cancer and osteoarthritis." Prostate, gallbladder, cervical and ovarian cancers have also been linked to obesity.
Gluttony Is Sin
When we use food or drink in a way that injures our health or impairs our mind, we are guilty of the sin of gluttony. King Solomon, a man familiar with feasting and abundance, advises, "Blessed are you, O land, when your king is the son of nobles, and your princes feast at the proper time—for strength and not for drunkenness!" (Ecclesiastes 10:17). We should eat food primarily at meal times and for strength, not satiation.
Although we all enjoy snacks occasionally, they are most often of poor quality, well known as "fat foods" or "junk foods" for their ability to fatten us up with little or no nutritional value. While adults consume plenty of junk food, teenagers eat it voraciously, one factor in why so many of our youth are overweight (adolescent obesity has jumped 40 percent in a little over a decade). The cycle of gluttony does not end once they reach adulthood.
Perhaps not so surprising to those who are observant, teens ingest an average of 9 percent of their calories from soft drinks. Food and drink proportions have inflated to the point that marketers need a new vocabulary to describe them. Selections no longer stop at "large"—they are now "jumbo" or "supreme." The original Coca-Cola came in a statuesque 6.5-ounce bottle, and in Europe it is still about 8 ounces. In America, however, machines now dispense 20-ounce soda bottles, while convenience stores sell 64-ounce buckets of drink—10 times the original serving size!
Eating disorders such as bulimia nervosa and anorexia are commonly associated with gluttony. As an affluent nation, we binge and starve and binge again, swinging from food-related anxiety to depression and guilt to pursuing sensory pleasure in food "addiction." For instance, bulimia is characterized by self-perpetuating and self-defeating cycles of gluttonous binge-eating and purging. During a "binge," the person consumes large amounts of food in a rapid, automatic and helpless fashion. Though this may repress hunger, anger and other feelings, it eventually creates physical discomfort and anxiety about weight gain. So the person "purges" the food eaten, usually by inducing vomiting and resorting to some combination of restrictive dieting, excessive exercising, laxatives and diuretics.
According to the World Health Organization, 300,000 Americans die prematurely each year because of obesity. Among lifestyle-related illnesses, only cigarette smoking (at approximately 400,000 deaths) has a higher toll. But smoking deaths are declining, while obesity deaths will continue to climb as long as obesity does.
Of course, eating is not a sin, but if one eats in a manner that is unhealthy, it is sin. Poor eating habits, such as binge eating, constant eating for satiation and junk food inhalation, slowly destroy the human body.
Lust and Greed
How do lust and greed relate to gluttony? Basically, lust is an intense longing or excessive craving for something—anything—and greed is excessive or insatiable desire to accumulate things. Lust and greed are never satisfied, as James 4:1-2 says: "Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain." Too much of even a good thing can be bad. Among other afflictions, too much eating can cause obesity and gout, and too much drinking, cirrhosis of the liver and depression.
In Numbers 11, the Israelites in the wilderness, inclined to be excessive, let lust and greed rule them. Their gluttony exposes other sins hidden below the surface: ingratitude, wastefulness, lust, greed, covetousness and licentiousness. The chapter begins with some of them complaining of being tired of eating only God-given manna. Displeased with them, God burns up some of the complainers in the outskirts of the camp as a warning (verse 1). Still, many give into their desire for other types of food, especially meat. "Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said, ‘Who will give us meat to eat?'" (verse 4).
Moses, tired of the Israelites complaining about not having meat, complains to God about the complaining Israelites (verses 10-15)! God, although not pleased with the Israelites, tells him that He would provide the entire nation with meat (verses 16-20). Moses immediately assumes it would come from the flocks and herds (verses 21-22), but God performs a miracle to further show His providence: Quail flutter just above the ground near the camp for about a day's journey in all directions!
And the people stayed up all that day, all that night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail (he who gathered least gathered ten homers [about ten donkey loads]); and they spread them out for themselves all around the camp. But while the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was aroused against the people, and the LORD struck the people with a very great plague. So he called the name of that place Kibroth Hattaavah [Graves of Craving], because there they buried the people who had yielded to craving. (verses 32-34)
God is furious when we yield to intense craving—lust—because it controls our will. Self-control is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, and without it a person cannot produce other fruits of the Spirit. The Israelites, devoid of self-control, could not conform to God's will.
In Psalm 78, the psalmist describes God's care of Israel in the wilderness and how the people reacted to His will. He includes a description of the event in Numbers 11:
But they sinned even more against Him by rebelling against the Most High in the wilderness. And they tested God in their heart by asking for the food of their fancy. Yes, they spoke against God: They said, "Can God prepare a table in the wilderness? Behold He struck the rock, so that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed. Can He give bread also? Can He provide meat for His people?"
Therefore the LORD heard this and was furious; so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel, because they did not believe in God, and did not trust in His salvation. Yet He had commanded the clouds above, and opened the doors of heaven, had rained down manna on them to eat, and given them the bread of heaven. Men ate angels' food; He sent them food to the full [satiation, margin].
He caused an east wind to blow in the heavens; and by His power He brought in the south wind. He also rained meat on them like the dust, feathered fowl like the sand of the seas; and He let them fall in the midst of their camp, all around their habitations. So they ate and were filled, for He gave them their own desire. They were not deprived of their craving; but while their food was still in their mouths, the wrath of God came against them, and slew the stoutest of them, and struck down the choice men of Israel.
In spite of this they still sinned, and did not believe in His wondrous works. Therefore their days He consumed in futility, and their years in fear. (verses 17-33)
The Israelites lost control of themselves by yielding to their cravings. Despite all God had provided for them, they quickly forgot and gave their will to the god of appetite. The result was futility, destruction and death.
Wisdom's Children
Matthew 11:18-19 provides a principle to determine if our actions are gluttonous. Responding to accusations of extremes in eating and drinking against John the Baptist and Himself, Jesus remarks:
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, "He has a demon." The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, "Look, a gluttonous man and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!" But wisdom is justified by her children.
What are the children of wisdom? Good works and good fruit. Whether what we do is wise or foolish is seen in the fruit we bear and in what we accomplish. An alcoholic produces sorrow for himself and his family, battered wives and children, poor health and a shorter life. A glutton produces a bad example for his family and his brethren, poverty, poor health and eventually death. We must control our desires because excess desire is the driving force behind gluttony. When we lose control of it, we sin, feeding the god that is in our belly, the god of excess, the god of too much, too fast, too eagerly.
Another interpretation of "wisdom is justified by her children" is that those who follow the wisdom from above recognize and live their lives based on truth. By their example in living wisely and righteously, they justify, prove, that it is the right and reasonable way to live. The way the wise live destroys the credibility of false accusations. Avoiding gluttony is one way to show that we are living in wisdom. The foolish—the opposite of the wise—tend toward gluttony.
The Institute of Medicine thinks the problem "must lie in the powerful social and cultural forces that promote an energy-rich diet and a sedentary lifestyle." But the problem is deeper than that! It is rooted in human nature, which we must overcome and can only be overcome with the help of God's Holy Spirit. When we nurture lust and greed, gluttony is a byproduct, a sign that something of a spiritual nature is eating us.
