screw it, enough of this professional shit! ITS TIME TO TALK ABOUT MY SONIC AU

What originally what a shit-post au called "Size-swap"( which is.. exactly what the name entails) became something I really like and am having a super fun time with it. (Still a shit-post au though.)

I literally JUST made this about a day ago at 12:00 midnight so this is fresh as beans type stuff here folks.

So I'm calling is FusionSize Au, though SizeMixFusion or FusionSwap is also kind of cool (but its too long? I'd if you have any suggestions tell me!)

What type of au is this?

-It's a swap au! It takes two main components of a character which is their size and personality, and "fuses" it together!

Now, from there it gets complicated (I had to make a chart to do this) but size and personality are two different categories! So they can be swapped independently of each other.

Size swaps.. well it swaps a characters size. If a character's size is correlated to a specific power (think Metal Sonic's multiple forms) then the character that received that swap gets that power too! (And the former character looses that ability.)

For Personality FUSIONS (reason I say fusion is because I'm not "swapping out" their personalities. I actually fuse them together- creating a whole need persona. (the closest example would be a paint mixer. your not swapping paints. your putting them together and creating a new color.)

(P.S. If a character's ability is tied to their personality (i.e. techy character does tech, or fighter character is strong because they fight a lot- then that's when I give them that extra "power". I mostly use this for eggman or tails, since their personas involve that smart-kid-mechanic. Since the ability is tied to their persona, It can be fused with the new character! (stuff like this can't apply o other characters who don't really have a logical tie to their powers.)

if you're wondering, fusions (or what I call "mixes" for short) take character a's personality as a "core" and then mixes character b personality ontop of that. (like sprinkes.) I'm saying this so we all understand that character a's personality isn't "lost" rather there's just MORE to it. Though, I like to play with this as some personalities as depending on how much you mix in, you'll get some interesting results.

When swapping, I like to add rules such as:

-Antagonist swap first (So I don't go overboard, I have antag onists (note; antagonists NOT villains. ) swap/mix with their respective protagonist first.

-First come first serve (If character x's game came first, then chracter b must swap with them firs before going to character c. (mostly applies to characters with multiple antagonists.)

-Can only swap/mix once ( ex: sonic already mixed and swaped with 2 characters? but there's another antagonist that can swap with him? well too bad! Sonic can't swap/mix with that one. Go find another character to do that with.)

-had to meet or interact or be related (story wise) to some degree. (I'm not swapping Metal Sonic with the Biolizard.)

-Whatever works (sometimes a character has no antagonist or correlating character to start from. Those times call for the "throw it at the wall and hope it sticks" saying.)

-swap-swapping can happen only once. (In order to avoid having both a mix (personality fusion) and a swap (size-swap) be of a single character I just... took the og swap, and then.. swapped it again a second time. That's how you get a size-tails mix-eggman Sonic.)

is it overly complicated to a point that I may be the only one who understands how this works? yeah, probably. Though, I'm having fun so it don't matter to much.

Also, once I finish the swaps, I create new changed lore and backstory specific to this world. SO not only is he characters swapped (and re-designed!) but so is the world surrounding them!

also when it comes to redesigns, I factor both mixes and swaps. So things get hectic, but this feels like a videogame/puzzle just trying to solve and figure out everything (I really did have to make that little chart).

PS: my shit-post swap au "Size-swap" was just there so I could make a giant Shadow the hedgehog. It was such a funny concept, yet for some reason the extreme size of a character can seriously change how they interact and view the world???)

HELP! DECIDE FUSIONSWAP ESPIO’S FATE

I have 2 concept designs for Espio as of right now.

This is an OWL VS DRAGONFLY design poll. Pick which one you’d like to see more!

(Ps: Espio is the height of charmy the bee in BOTH of these designs. Both designs retain camouflaging abilities (not invisibility) Please consider that fact while deciding.)

Here is the concept for DRAGONFLY (specifically Rhyothemis fuliginosa)

design pros: he’s so pretty and sparkly and purple

Story pro: he’s FAST. Like REALLY FAST. If he is ever caught, fighting and fleeing will be absolutely no issue. He even gets a armor bonus buff due to being part bug- so any fight or flight scene is extremely intense as he can hold up his own against bigger opponents.

(Any bonus powers hasn’t been thought of yet.)

Story con: he’s not very ninja like at all here. dragon flys are noisy, and the wings can’t be tucked in, resulting in more problems for doing what he does. It can create a big issue when during sneaking or other forms of “ninja stunts”. He’ll be caught quicker than normal espio would. Though him knocking into things is quite funny.

HERES CONCEPT FOR OWL (specifically BARN OWL)

Design pros: graceful, fluffier. Might have a more interesting palette than 100% purples an blues, has talons.

Story pros: he quiet, almost silent. He gains advantage over anyone- being able to fly to height to quickly get out of people’s line of sight and the flapping of wings can’t be caught by anyone with untrained ears. This makes any ninja-ing incredibly easy for him. Sneak attacks and Gathering info for detective work has never been easier. He gets an attack bonus buff, because of the sharper talons/claws, so even if he doesn’t have a defense he can sure as hell make you bleed.

He’s also got night vision (because of the owl side) so he’s capable of seeing better in the dark. Alongside the chameleon eyes, he’s got an extremely good vision ability.

Story cons: not as fast as dragonfly, and without the armor bonus buff, he’s easier to be taken down if ever caught (wings are pretty easy to catch.). Though this can lead to more struggling whenever he’s been spotted.

He’s also feathery, so even if he sneaks properly, chances of a feather falling and ruining his cover is high here.

Ps: this is a sonic au called “FusionSwap”. I’m polling because I seriously cannot figure out which design is better.

I like them both, and I already know my favorite. But I’m a logical person to, and I know my favorite story wise. But that makes them both good.

SO Amy rose is like, “oh my metal sonic why do you keep looking at my bow do you want it?” And he’s all 🥺 so she gives it to him and he wears it.

I think after awhile he realizes the goth girly within him because pink and black metal sonic is so much cooler than pink pink metal sonic

(which is fine on its own and I do think he changes to full pink coats every once and awhile- but for the most part it’s just pink and black.)

Because I think I let the cutesy “Amyness” overrun Metal’s coolbot swagger, when in reality the two atheistic should be consuming eachothers essence.

So yeah he’s goth girly swagger (aka pastel goth!)

And I added eyelashes to his sunglasess eyes.

FUSIONSWAP METAL SONIC HAS ARRIVED!!!

This is post-Bluebot era (aka when it wasn’t fem) ended up befriending Amy Rose during this time too.

I tried my best with the coloring but I only have access to cheap or not exactly high quality color pencils, so take what you will. (I also did a last minute change with the arm and legs, so if you see lines- that’s why.)

He still has laser eye powers and high speed stuff. I’m also forgot to add but there ARE in fact extra rocket stuff for flying underneath his heels.

(And yes, it’s still the same height as cream the rabbit. )

Notes to take from:

-pronouns: he/it. (Yeah he’s a femboy)

-legs made too look like high heel boots

-(painted on) knee high socks (not sure what color it should be so I left it white/pink. Forgot to add more pink.)

-(painted on) criss-cross pattern on arms. (Darker than the other greys on the design)

-the drawing here is of MT having its blades extended. But it can be easily retracted so he can it’s hands.

-skull bow! (Made by FS!Amy Rose. He will kill you if you touch, remove, destroy, rip or do anything to it- unless you are Amy.)

-layered skirt (first layer is pinkish with flame pattern on it. Bottom is fully black)

-headband is very much attached to his head.

-even the sunglasses have eyelashes (well technically the sunglasses ARE it’s eyes. So that can’t really be removed either- but can be broken)

FusionSwap Metal Sonic pre-femboy era

(Colored and no color )

I’ll have to redesign the fem-boy design as well since it no longer matches FS Sonic’s current design.

Metal Sonic is a mix of a sword fighter and a Runner (as Sonic fight with a giant sword) so he’s able to turn his arms and hands into giant blades. (It also has sunglasses shaped eyes!!)

He still has the turbine engine (or whatever that is called) on its chest to go as fast as sonic on his Rocket shoes.

So yeah, high speed in the air sword fighting machine! Who will soon become a fem boy.

Also yeah it’s got laser eyes. Why? Because “parry this you fucking casual” post stuck with me.

FUSIONSWAP! Tails design!

This tails can’t fly (which makes his tails slimmer than OG Tails- also his tails are longer than OG). Though tries his best to still help and save people regardless! He’s still very fixated on mechanics (mostly that of planes and aviation) but his work is in the medical field. Making FS!Tails the medicine team member. Still has some fighting strength in him but when it comes to fighting- Amy and Sonic usually have that under control.

(Now it’s down to me coloring in my eggman and Sonic designs.)

Immense desire for posting FusionSwap au designs again- but because I’m still working on it

So I’m sharing the conceptual art

Attempts at more proper shape language and purposeful mess within the designs.

Some extra notes and tidbits:

- thought it was funny to name Neo Cream “Neosporin” (in reference to the pain relief ointment type haha). Might not go through with that.

-figuring out how Rouge works (she doesn’t have wings anymore) as she’s mixed with chaos and swapped with Omega- I gave her really high high heels this time. (She’s probably more of a fighter or a marks..woman)

-forgot to give Blaze her “ice queen” demeanor so here she is just pirating like crazy (she’s great). Trying to merge royalty and pirate is a very hard thing to do for me apparently- but I like the current look I made here. I’ll try more iterations.

-Concept weapon for blaze: Flame-thrower curved sword (possibly Iberian falcata, most definitely cutlass.. though I am considering a falx or any other curved sword. )

-concept weapons for Rouge: heart shaped Sniper rifle, bombs, arm machine guns/guns (literally ARM guns),

-concept for rouge: she wears cool looking prosthetics (she’s got multiple, some for battle and others for just looking stylish or weird), scars, and either is born without or lost her wings somewhere prior (I’m voting on just being born without because the tails and rouge bonding sesh is too adorable not to)

-Chao in this universe are swapped with animal freinds, so every chao is just really cute floating animal buddies.

-Chaos is a shark chao (because I said so) thus as a mutated chao- chaos is a sharky! Feel in deep adoration with this design.

When it comes to coloring I hope i won’t do to sloppy at it.

I already finished big the cat, but I wanted to work on him a little more because I’m not fully or half satisfied with his design (and I haven’t finished froggy.)

I think the coolest thing about my Sonic FusionSwap au, is the fact that the story roles for characters do not change. It's just that, the characters change so much (so much so it changes the world around them) that characters literally, physically, mentally, and story-wise CANNOT fully fulfill that role.

On occasion characters (like Sonic, Eggman and Tails) can still fulfill their respective og story roles, (aka hero, villian, 'sidekick') but it's just not the same. )

Each character and the world is trying so hard to be like their respective original, but it just cannot happen- or it's never 100% the same.

I find the concept interesting because I never specified "role swaps" as a rule, so as I write and design each character.. I personally feel that struggle in trying to be the "normal" character role- yet never fully achieving it.

I'll call this the "story-role Sisyphus" after the greek telling.

This alone has caused very very interesting characters and plot-lines.

hopefully I explained it to its fullest ability.

Here’s the chart I was talking about during my explanation of what FusionSwap Au is

Gamma was a last minute addition change, but for everyone else I think I’m quite happy with.

Most if not all of these swaps have some logistics to it and fall under the rules I originally set (with full-swaps being the only exception as it usually occurs when I have no third character)

And for Gamma it was quite difficult because I had already finished swapping Amy, Metal, Cream and Big and got quite attached. Ended up taking “Size: Rouge” away from omega and handing it to Gamma under the logic that original Omega and Gamma share similar backgrounds in the narrative (but have different reactions it.)

Now that I’m done, it’s mostly just story time and design from here!

If this little chart is incoherent to you, that’s okay. I might make a post explaining it with visuals, (because I adore explaining things) but if you understand it, you can actually see how each swap is correlated to one another and I’ve even used my system to trace back to how exactly a character got their swap/fusion in the first place!

It’s really fun yet and feels like a game in and of itself.

It just such a fun way to test my knowledge of characters and the overall stories- and seeing how even the smallest things (like size) can effect ENTIRE characters and viewpoints.

Working on FS knuckles design!!

Told you I like kaijus!

He’s currently mr.lava monstruo!

He’s mixed with the biolizard and has a size of Chaos!

I deem him “The ultimate Guardian” and “Fulfiller of Prophecies.”

He’s a very head on guy. Doesn’t question much when it comes to protecting or claiming emeralds.

(Made a small doodle of sonic trying to see if he committed of atrocities. The awnser is no! He just desires to protect emeralds. Very simple guy. Any atrocities are accidental at best.)

Also rouge don’t mess with him like she does in canon universe because he can literally turn into giant lava Godzilla, so she stays away (sometimes).

FS Eggman is really funny because still the over the top eccentric guy but because he’s mixed with tails and sonic- so he’s actually not 100% horrible to the environment? (Or at-least tries to not be) except he INCREDIBLY misguided by what’s “good” or not for the planet and for the people- so not only does he think it would be better under his control- but that blowing up the moon with a giant laser beam would enhance earth’s health by at-least 50% or more.

And I find it so funny because sonic is mixed with EGGMAN- so not only does sonic go “oh that’s going to destroy the world and I know exactly how to disarm it” but then goes “ now I CAN USE IT TO DO EXACTLY THAT!” Because he TOO has a misguided sense of heroism (he’s got a savior complex??) and moral compass that’s near a magnet-

So sonic is like “perfect! A massively destructive weapon that I can use to not only have fun with (it’s the adrenaline he desires) but can ruin the world to save it with!”

ALSO- Because sonic is mixed with Eggman not only is he this way- but he can actually INVENT stuff. It’s just- he doesn’t have cool ideas like “make robots” instead he decides that a lasergun propeller hat is the best thing he’s ever made. (Or a jet pack that only works if you squeeze a rubber duckie)

And then there’s tails who is the ONLY one with actual common sense and a proper sense of heroism who is just… trying to keep them both in line and stop people from dying by these two and their stupid antics.

(And if your wondering, can tails still invent cool gadgets? Kind of. He majors in the medical field now and is an incredibly swift on-the-foot thinker. He makes stuff but not in the mechanical way or weird way that sonic and Eggman do. It’s more.. organic and on the fly type stuff.)

(Atleast tails knows how to make major comebacks. He’s got the tongue.)
