Take the Blue Door
(Archie arrives back in his world, in the water... but on the surface instead on having been swept beneath it. Say one thing for him, he sticks to his brand - he’s always been a good swimmer and he knows his water survival techniques inside and out. Shoes get kicked off, his sharpedo is deployed to help him stay above water. But there’s still Kyogre’s storm to deal with and, while he still has the pokeball that contained it in that other world, he has no idea if it will listen to him now that the pair of them are back in their own world, or if he’ll even be able to make himself heard over the storm-
“WEEZING, USE THUNDERBOLT!”
“CRADILY, GIGA DRAIN!”
He turns around, there’s a boat speeding towards Kyogre, and standing in the bow, pokemon already facing off against Kyogre, are Champion Steven Stone and-
“MAXIE!”
“ARCHIE YOU IDIOT-!!!”
But his old rival drags him onboard (where he discovers the person at the helm is Gym Leader Wallace, water type expert and all), and he’s able to lend his pokemons’ strength in helping subdue Kyogre and capture it in its pokeball once more. Archie then relinquishes Kyogre’s pokeball to Steven. He’s in so much trouble, but at least he and the rest of the world are alive to face it...
“I can’t believe- no, I take it back, I absolutely can believe it, you barnacle-encrusted, salt-for-brains, magikarp-witted-!”
“Hey, Max?”
“What?!?”
“Thanks fer comin’ fer me.” And he just leans on Maxie like he used to, like in the old days when they were on the same team, and his old rival/friend splutters something fierce, but he doesn’t push him away, just huffs and adjusts his posture to better support Archie.
And he’s too tired from what just happened to talk about it right now, but when he’s a bit more rested, he’s going to mention to Maxie that there’s a young man in Sinnoh who’s developing some technology that Maxie might like, him being so into human advancement and ingenuity and all. (Because no scamp should have to end up so lonely and depressed they try and remake the world to make it stop, so Archie’s going to make sure that doesn’t happen.))
Take the Red Door
(Maxie arrives back in his own world at the bottom of the fissure he’d been falling into when he was whisked away to the other world, uninjured. And he might not be as smart as he thinks he is, but he’s still quick on his feet, summoning his crobat to fly him back to the surface and try and stop what he’s started. He reaches it in time to see Archie and his admins sending out their strongest water types to attack Groudon.
“Trust a pirate to always show up uninvited!”
Archie’s shocked enough at Maxie’s appearance that the Magma leader has time to drop down beside him and deploy his own pokemon (because he likes to make an entrance). “Mightyena, use Ice Fang on Groudon!”
“Yer helpin’ us?”
“Let’s just say I’ve had a rearrangement of priorities.”
The four of them subdue Groudon to the point that Maxie is able to properly recapture it. After everyone’s caught their breaths, Archie warily asks what his once-friend plans to do next. And Maxie just turns to him smiles, and announces, “I’m going to take Groudon and run away to Sinnoh.”
“You’re what?!?”
“It’s struck me that, while both of us have good intentions, we’ve also both been inherently flawed in our methods. Perhaps... there is enough of water and land both already in the world, and we simply need to become better in how we care for and make use of it.”
“After this mess? I can agree with that,” Archie scratches his head, “But why Sinnoh?”
“It doesn’t have extradition treaties with Hoenn. And I have reason to believe there’s a young man there with some interesting ideas on how to help change the world for the better, with a preference to clean energy that might just tickle your environmentalist fancy. One who could use a little more... balance in his life.” Maxie turns and smirks at him, “That is if I can interest you and your team accompanying me and mine...”
(Over in Sinnoh there’s a young man with severe undiagnosed depression in the process of starting up his own eco-clean energy company who’s about to get adopted by a pair of fugitives only a few years older than him, who make it their life’s goal to ensure he knows, in success or failure, he’s not alone.))
Take the Grey Door
(Cyrus comes to on Spear Pillar in his original world, the red chains still in his hands, Palkia and Dialga still in the beginning stages of bringing about the new world he’d commanded them to make. And he knows that he could still do it, there’s nothing here to stop him, he could ignore what happened in that other world and bring about one free of the suffering caused by human emotion and spirit...
He looks up at the gods he has literally bound to his will, looks down at his own hands... and lets go of the chains. The strange mass before him that had been becoming the new world vanishes as though it had never been, the world around it snapping back into place. It takes the work of moments for the gods of Time and Space to shake themselves free of their chains and turn on him-
“CYRUS, STOP-!!!”
He turns from the gods bearing down on him to see Cynthia charging up the steps to the Spear Pillar, some others behind her, anger but also fear in her expression.
A little part of him flickers in brief realization that, while the anger is at him... the fear is probably for him.
It’s enough to let him give her a small nod, the tiniest of smiles, before something grabs him from behind, and he’s yanked into darkness.
Cyrus comes to again in Distortion World, with Giratina staring down at him. Which is frankly unexpected, because he’d been under the impression he was about to get smote by divine wrath. He stands, dusts himself off, and looks up at the massive pokemon deity. “Why did you do that?”
Giratina cocks their head at him, then, in a mental voice that’s only mildly mind-numbingly eldritch, replies, “You vanished. Then returned. Then let go. Then awaited judgement. The other one tried, and tried again, and still has yet to repent. You have changed in a moment. And you are not afraid of me.” Giratina leans in and gently nudges Cyrus on the forehead with their nose. “I will calm my siblings’ ire. You are interesting. I will be watching you.”
The ground falls out from beneath Cyrus’s feet, and he lands in a stunned heap in front of a startled Cynthia.
“BOSS!”
And also a very emotional Mars and Saturn, with a slightly more stoic but relieved-looking Jupiter in the background.
“You weren’t really going to leave without us, right Boss?” “Please don’t leave us behind!”
“You’re not still planning to remake the universe, right?” Cynthia adds, fierce but also concerned.
It’s not the welcome back he was expecting (because he wasn’t expecting one), and he ends up blurting out, “No, I’m not. Doing either of those things.” then, without intending to, “...I think I may have depression.”
Cynthia looks relieved even as his admins take this as permission to latch onto Cyrus and give him hugs. “We can get you help with that. If you want.”
And Cyrus remembers the other Cynthia, standing in a doorway looking back at him. “It’s good to see you again. I like our Cyrus, but he’s not you.”
“I think... I do.”)

Miraculous Sweet-ember (Sept. 27th)
September 27th: Chris Master, The Puppeteer 2, & Stormy Weather 2
Chris Master is the non musical, Christmas orientated episode in the series. Marinette is babysitting Chris (known as Noël in the French version) who is Nino’s younger brother. He’s a tough kid to babysit since at the age where he believes he is no longer a child and should be able to do more ‘big kid’ things. His attention is quickly grabbed by the giant chest in Marinette’s room which turns out to be full of Adrien birthday gifts for the next 35 birthdays. Classic over the top Marinette. Chris’ attention is peaked and he won’t let it go so Marinette comes up with a lie to prevent him from finding out the true contents in the chest.
She pretends to be one of Santa’s elves keeping watch over children’s gifts. Chris isn’t satisfied with at first with the answer and questions her more until he’s no longer doubting her story. The story she made up was pretty cute and I loved the way she told it to Chris. Her whole interaction with Chris while babysitting was fun to see as well. He was kinda a handful so it was interesting to see how she could work around it. Also how sweet was it for Marinette to babysit Nino’s brother just so he could go to the movies with Alya. What a wonderful friend.
The Puppeteer 2 had the notorious statue scene between Adrien and Marinette. And...I LOVE THE STATUE SCENE. ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE RESULT FROM IT. We know and understand Marinette because we see all the time how much she loves Adrien. Adrien however, is not exposed to that side of Marinette...in fact, he isn’t even fully clear on if she likes him enough as a friend. Marinette can be a confusing person for Adrien to understand. We know her ramblings and unusual behavior around him is a result of her huge crush on him.
But to Adrien, a boy who started off on the wrong foot with Marinette and is new to making friends is unsure what to make of her feelings. He confesses to Nino that he wants Marinette to be close to him and see him as a good friend just like he sees her as one. He admires Marinette for all the good deeds she does for everyone and wants to be there for her just as she is there for everyone else. Marinette can’t help but be nervous around Adrien because she gets too in her head. She doesn’t mean to come off as standoffish and weird around him but it is interrupted that way.
When Nino and Alya leave the group with Manon Marinette literally charges at the door shouting not to leave her alone with Adrien. This causes him to believe Marinette is mad at him. She denies it which makes him relieved however, after more rambling she ends up saying he is not a good friend to her. This leads Adrien to ask her ‘what is he to her?’ So she bolts on out of there leaving a sad and confused boy whose hand is stuck in a molder. Plagg immediately tries to cheer him up by joking around with him and possessing a doll head. He is so sure he did something to mess up his friendship with Marinette by accident and admits to Plagg that he is clueless about these things. Adrien sets off to make it up to her. Since Plagg’s humor cheers him up he thought maybe he could make Marinette feel better that way as well. Hence pretending to be a statue.
Cue Marinette embarrassing herself in front of Adrien for a minute. Marinette is extremely upset by this but it leads to an important conversation. The first attempt was Marinette convincing him she was only joking and knew he was pretending. She only faked those feelings for a statue and not a human being. Adrien presses on, determined to understand how Marinette actually feels about him by again asking her how she feels about him. Of course, they get interrupted by living wax figures. When the time came again where the two of them were alone they both started opening up. They both apologized for their parts in the situation. Neither put the blame onto each other, no one pointed fingers, no one laughed at the other's expense. It was a healthy conversation between two people that went through a giant misunderstanding. Adrien knew he shouldn’t have pretended to be a statue and Marinette felt bad that she made him believe she was mad with him.
Seeing a relationship go through misunderstanding and openly communicating about it is extremely important. The road isn’t always smooth but what matters most is how you handle it afterward. No one was blamed more than the other, no one was ridiculed for their actions. It was an awkward and embarrassing situation but it did not ruin their friendship. In fact, it made it stronger. Going through rough patches and overcoming them together strengthens relationships. Both were willing to come together and be honest. Both wanted to correct the situation. I loved how the statue scene gave Adrienette the opportunity to discuss their feelings more openly.
Stormy Weather 2 may have been a clipshow episode but the last two minutes revealed something important. Marinette went to Adrien’s house to drop off the lessons he missed from class. This time she wanted to make sure that Adrien knew that his friend Marinette delivered the lessons. Even though Natalie agreed she would let him know she decided to attach a cute little note signed with ‘love your friend Marinette’. Adrien still has the mysterious unsigned valentines day card that he received and noticed that Marinette’s handwriting actually similar to the one on the card. Being a romantic, he had hopes that it was from Ladybug.
Although he wasn’t technically wrong with that assumption the card was meant to come from Marinette. With the possible evidence right in front of him that Marinette is the more likely of the two to give him the card he shuts down the idea. Adrien is very good a piecing the picture together when presented with small clues. But when he feels like things can be easily disproven he drops the hunch. The fact that Adrien considered Marinette to be the one who wrote the card was a big moment. He was so close to knowing Marinette’s true feelings for him and once he does learn I cannot wait to see what he does.
About Sweet-ember:
For the month of September I wanted to spread some positivity and praise Miraculous Ladybug on the things I’ve appreciated/enjoyed from the show.
Everyday I’m going to select one particular moment, event, theme, etc. from an episode of Miraculous and shared what I liked from that episode. Each post will discuss 2-3 episodes (from season 1-3; 78 episodes in total).
Whether its something big or small there is something positive that I can take away from every single episode of Miraculous.
Please feel free to add a moment from these particular episodes that you loved to this post as well!
Salt towards the show, characters, ships will not be tolerated!

Here Are 20 Headlines Comparing Meghan Markle To Kate Middleton That Might Show Why She And Prince Harry Are Cutting Off Royal Reporters
Over the years, Meghan has been shamed for the same things for which her sister-in-law, Kate, has been praised.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex (aka Prince Harry and Meghan Markle) didn't just shockingly "step back" as senior members of the royal family this week — they gave the UK media a big "fuck-you" for years of what they said was biased and unfair coverage.
The couple's new website on breaking up with years of royal protocol laid out — among a lot of other things — their media strategy, stating that they will no longer participate in the traditional royal press system that grants exclusive access to a select group of UK outlets.
Britain’s royal correspondents, they said, are seen as reliable sources of information. "This misconception propels coverage that is often carried by other outlets around the world, amplifying frequent misreporting," they wrote. Removing themselves from "royal rota" coverage has sparked an outcry among UK media and drew a protest from the National Union of Journalists.
This isn't a new complaint from the royal couple — they just took an unprecedented step to do something about it. Harry and Meghan have said publicly that they believe they have been treated unfairly by the UK press since the moment news broke of their relationship — that they are bullied, that there are racist undertones to coverage of them, and that they have been held to a different standard than Harry's brother and sister-in-law, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (aka Prince William and Kate Middleton).
The UK media outlets that currently make up the royal rota are the Daily Express, the Daily Mail, the Daily Mirror, the Evening Standard, the Telegraph, the Times, and the Sun.
Here is a look at 20 stories from these outlets that appear to show a double standard between press coverage of Meghan and Kate. BuzzFeed News has reached out to all of the outlets featured below for comment.
Kate: "Bumping along nicely! The Duchess was seen placing a protective hand on her tummy as she exited the event." Daily Mail: March 22, 2018
Meghan: "Personally, I find the cradling a bit like those signs in the back of cars: Baby on Board. Virtue signaling, as though the rest of us barren harridans deserve to burn alive in our cars." Daily Mail: Jan. 26, 2019
Kate and William: "Prince William was given one of the green fruit – wrapped up in a bow – by a little boy who's mother is suffering during her pregnancy too... 'He said he'd take it to [Kate] and see what happens – and said good luck for [the boy's] mummy.'" Express: Sept. 14, 2017
Meghan: "The pregnant Duchess of Sussex and so-called 'avocado on toast whisperer' is wolfing down a fruit linked to water shortages, illegal deforestation and all round general environmental devastation." Express: Jan. 23, 2019
Kate: "Royal sources said yesterday that the Queen understood and endorsed William and Kate’s decision not to spend Christmas Day with her. One said: ‘Her Majesty understands that it is a dilemma that many young couples face and acknowledges how close Catherine’s relationship is with her family." Daily Mail: Dec. 16, 2016
Meghan: "The fact is the Queen expects to have the family around her for the festive season... to the Queen, for whom the tradition of the family gathering is a key date in her calendar, Harry and Meghan’s absence will be a matter of great sadness. It will also be a source of frustration." Daily Mail: Nov. 13, 2019
Kate and William: "Creating their own companies will allow William and Kate to bring out, should they ever chose to, myriad items of officially-endorsed merchandise from tea towels to coffee cups... Kensington Palace officials said they were doing the ‘sensible thing’ in protecting the couple’s rights." Daily Mail: Jan. 17, 2014
Meghan and Harry: "The Sussexes want to stamp their name on dozens of products including T-shirts, hoodies, journals and gloves for their newly-created foundation Sussex Royal... Experts said Harry and Meghan were actively preparing to quit the Royal Family months ago by filing trade mark applications to commercially protect their brand." Daily Mail: Jan. 9, 2020
Kate and William: "Prince William yesterday backed brother Harry’s brave admission of his mental anguish — and blasted the monarchy’s 'stiff upper lip' tradition... William said: 'There may be a time and a place for the ‘stiff upper lip’ but not at the expense of your health... '
"'Catherine and I are clear we want both George and Charlotte to grow up feeling able to talk about their emotions and feelings. Over the past year we have visited a number of schools together where we have been amazed listening to children talk about some quite difficult subjects in a clear and emotionally articulate way, something most adults would struggle with. Seeing this has really given me hope things are changing and there is a generation coming up who find it normal to talk openly about emotions.'” Sun: April 19, 2017
Meghan and Harry: "Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have bucked royal tradition once again with their latest TV interview — in which they claimed they were 'existing, not living.' The couple ditched the stiff upper lip of previous Royal Family generations and flew the flag for 'Generation Therapy' as they revealed their emotions to the world - but were they right to do so?
"What you make of 'fragile' Prince Harry and Meghan's comments may depend on your generation. Sun parents and kids reveal what they think of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex airing their emotions in public - and whether they have the right to moan in such positions of privilege..." Sun: Oct. 23, 2019
Kate: "It was reported that new Duchess of Cambridge requested her favorite scented candles and toiletries from luxury fragrance brand Jo Malone be delivered to scent the Abbey. A selection of candles, handwashes and lotions was requested, specifically in citrus spring scents including Orange Blossom, Grapefruit and the ever-popular Lime, Basil & Mandarin." Daily Mail: May 4, 2011
Meghan: "'Meghan wanted staff to go around with these atomizers, like spritzer guns, and spray the chapel with scent before anyone arrived. Royal Household staff stepped in and told her office politely, but firmly, that this was the queen's chapel and it simply wasn't appropriate. I don't believe they said no because they thought it could affect the chapel in any way. It was simply the principle of the thing. This is a place that has held royal weddings, funerals and even contains the royal vault. I don't believe a request of that nature had been made before.'" Daily Mail: Nov. 30, 2018
Kate: "As far as bridal bouquets go there was nothing particularly regal about Kate Middleton’s modest arrangement of simple, seasonal flowers. Like the bride herself the bouquet was effortlessly elegant and understated.
"Yet behind that modest posy lay a secret story. Kate, the commoner-turned-duchess, had painstakingly selected blooms with real meaning. She is evidently well-versed in the language of flowers, a little-known romantic relic from the 19th century.
"Hence the use of lilac in her bouquet, which signifies the first emotions of love, the lily of the valley meaning a return of happiness, hyacinth standing for constancy, myrtle meaning love and the ivy, which represents fidelity. Then of course there was the suitably named Sweet William, which is shorthand for gallantry." Express: Aug. 29, 2011
Meghan: "[Meghan Markle] was holding a wedding bouquet which flowers were replicated in Princess Charlotte and the other bridesmaids’ flower crowns. Express.co.uk can now reveal the children’ crowns were made of flowers that can be deadly, especially for children. Meghan’s bouquet was made of forget-me-nots as well as sweet peas, lily of the valley, astilbe, jasmine, and astrantia...
"Lily of the valley is a highly poisonous woodland flowering plant and ingestion could be deadly... As Meghan’s bridesmaids were so young, having this flower on their heads could be considered a dangerous decision. Other brides have also used this flowers including Kate Middleton, Princess Eugenie and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall." Express: Oct. 13, 2019
Kate and William: "The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh missed the small family affair. The decision is understood not to have been taken on health grounds, and to have been mutually agreed by the Queen and the Cambridges some time ago. The Queen, 92, has a busy week ahead, with high-profile celebrations in central London marking the centenary of the RAF on Tuesday, and a visit by US President Donald Trump in Windsor on Friday." Daily Mail: July 9, 2018
Meghan and Harry: "The situation has surprised some senior staff at Buckingham Palace, who feel that the duke and duchess should have planned the day better. ‘There is huge support for the couple in not wanting to conform to tradition. They are young, they are striking out on a different path from other members of the Royal Family and there is enormous goodwill for them. But they shouldn’t do that without regard for tradition,’ said one. ‘Her Majesty was already scheduled to be in Scotland for her annual Holyrood Week and had a prior engagement at the weekend. There is a feeling amongst some that they should have been more accommodating about the date.’" Daily Mail: July 4, 2019
Kate: "It is a fashion conundrum not many of us will ever face, but what exactly does one wear for tea with the Queen? The Duchess of Cambridge met this challenge head on yesterday by co-ordinating her outfit with the Queen’s powder blue ensemble... The Queen, on her first official event to mark her Diamond Jubilee, was dressed in a pastel hat and two-piece coat dress with military-style rows of gold buttons designed by Angela Kelly. Looking relaxed and elegant, her outfit was perfect for what looked like a fun official engagement with the girls." Mirror: Feb. 14, 2013
Meghan: "The Queen's aides had told [Meghan] she would be wearing a green hat as a mark of respect to those who died in the Grenfell Tower fire. The Queen is said to have been 'baffled' when Meghan turned up without a hat as she didn't realize she was supposed to wear one too. A senior aide said: 'I don't think the Duchess fully understood. This was not a request. Those are for others to make, not the Queen.' The Queen's staff are said to have noted the Duchess's mistake or 'lack of deference'" Mirror: Oct. 29, 2018
Kate: "We see a woman in her prime: stylish, confident and positively radiant, nailing outfit after outfit in the style stakes — and it’s a joy to witness... That old uniform of girlish dresses, tan tights and nude heels has been replaced by dazzling super-chic outfits to satisfy even the most exacting fashionista." Daily Mail: June 16, 2019
Meghan: "Proper royalty is about tradition and duty, self-effacing service and loyalty — year after year after year, season after season... That is not to say that a monarchy cannot or must not move with the times — simply that it has to resist the temptation to be buffeted by passing cultural trends. Fashion is the exact opposite. And as fashion’s most famous bible, Vogue exemplifies the transient nature of the beast." Daily Mail: July 29, 2019

Fics Wot I Wrote in 2018
This is the first time I’ve been able to do this list since 2015, which I am so happy about I can barely even articulate. I missed writing constantly while I wasn’t, but didn’t have sufficient fangirly inspiration to gather the mental energy required to write while also having a full-time job. But this year, The Infinite Bad and its band of idiots hit me in exactly the place I needed to explode with words, even with a tiny, tiny fandom of fic readers. Thank you to those people who consistently read and left kudos, and an even bigger THANK YOU to commenters and those who chatted with me about these characters, because kudos are nice but comments are fuel. Anyway. Here is Wot I Wrote last year:
April 13 - Warriors - Cornelia and Sebastian share a drink in the aftermath of Goose Lake. Gen, PG.
May 9 - Further Investigations of the Tantra (Or: Cornelia Gets her Groove Back) - At the Webster Hotel, Cornelia meets an altogether more genuine American gent. Cornelia/OMC, PG.
May 31 - Respite - A mid-season ficlet. Joy, Cornelia, G.
July 3 - Unravelling - Post Karajah, Joy and Cornelia share a moment. Joy, Cornelia, G.
July 21 - Dreaming the Fox - Cornelia dreams of the fox-faced men and also husbands. Cornelia/Fox Man, Cornelia/Brendel, M.
August 26 - Breathe - Upstairs at the Webster, part 1. Cornelia/OMC, E.
Sept 25 - not just a river in egypt - Blatant denial. Sebastian is old and has a dog. Sebastian, Joy, G.
Dec 15 - Tethers - Upstairs at the Webster, part 2. Cornelia/OMC, E.
And here is the self-indulgent fic meme. Under a Read More to spare you. Apologies to those on mobile.
Longest Story Written: Breathe (8,122) Shortest Story Written: Respite (884)
My favourite story of this year: Tethers. I think it has to be, because when I started thinking about it I had not a single comment on the first part, and decided I could just write it anyway for myself, so I DID.
My best story this year: Further Investigations of the Tantra. I honestly think I did pretty well with the performative Cornelia voice, and I’m super proud of it.
Best received story: TIB is a pretty small fandom, so I think the fact that people actually read and enjoyed Warriors was the most significant. If I’d posted that to silence, I probably wouldn’t have kept writing, so thanks for being interested, peeps.
Most fun story: egypt. It was just a pure fluff ‘bye going to play in my own sandbox’ type fic, after all.
Hardest story to write: Dreaming the Fox took me a while, and we had new, rather significant canon between the start of me writing it and the end, which I then decided I needed to address, so probably that? As usual, though, the hardest ones are still half-complete in my gdocs.
“Holy crap, that’s *wrong*, even for you” story: I don’t think I wrote anything super wrong, but I guess Dreaming probably gets this honour as well? It was certainly the most horror-y, and the vague sense of sexual threat from/attraction to the fox-man was probably the closest I’ve ever come to writing something furry (though it’s probably not tbh, I don’t know anything about what actually makes something furry)
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Well, not so much shifted, since I made him, but I really came to enjoy Leo the OC (NPC?) while writing ‘Breathe’. I became quite fond of him, and it was also really enjoyable to try and imagine Cornelia through the eyes of someone attracted to her.
Biggest disappointment: Eh, NGL, I wish more people had read and enjoyed the smut fic. It always makes me sad when old people smut gets poor reception. Also, I write good porn, and people should read it.
Biggest surprise: I didn’t post ‘Respite’ to ao3 because I thought it would probably be scuppered the following week, and holy shit, was I right. The episode could not have been further way from ‘Cornelia gets a little bit of comfort from her daughter’, lol endless screaming.
Most unintentionally telling story: I mean, porn is always telling. Shh.
Sexiest story: I think ‘Breathe’ and ‘Tethers’ are probably similar, but I’m going to go with the first, given that it was a little less self-indulgent and also I asked a beta to look at it.
Favourite summary:
But huge and mighty forms, that do not live Like living men, moved slowly through the mind By day, and were a trouble to my dreams.
That’s the summary I posted for Dreaming the Fox. It’s from the ‘stealing the boat’ section of Wordsworth’s Prelude, which was, incidentally, what I was revising with my class the morning that The Brendel Thing happened in canon. I was so overwhelmed that morning that I didn’t know how the hell I was going to pull my brain together enough to teach, but I somehow managed it, and it was only when I got to the end of the poem that I realised how appropriate it was to many of TIB’s themes/repeated imagery, and also how appropriate to the fic I had been working on.
Favourite opening line(s):
‘Warm skin, a heartbeat, fingers toying with her hair: the luxurious decadence of lying naked with a man she’s just made love to. Cornelia Cavendish is having - not an out of body experience, because she’s more in her body than she’s been in years, right inside all the pleasant tingles and aches that come in the aftermath of sex - but an out of self experience.’
I just really like this idea, and it was the perfect way to crawl into Cornelia’s head for this story. I have felt the out-of-self idea myself in the travel moments she goes on to describe, and drawing on it here really helped make her head feel real to me. Hopefully it also worked for the two people who read it.
Favourite lines from anywhere:
‘He’d known she wasn’t wearing a corset by the feel of her, but he is unprepared for the sight of her so undressed, all long limbs and skin. The elegant twist of her hair has become mussed from his attention, and now a long curl of it dangles loose down the back of her neck, right to her shoulder blade.’ - This image was just so visual to me, and really goes with that idea of trying to imagine what Cornelia would look like to someone attracted to her that I mentioned earlier. idk, it makes me happy.
‘There is something potent about him, something primal, something she doesn’t understand but that she recognises with a part of herself that sings from the beginning of time.’ - I don’t know if I feel this because it’s a little bit cliche, or what, but I don’t even care. I really like it.
‘she’s using a cane for balance against the ship’s movement - a device she initially resisted, but seemed to take to when she realised that waving it at people usually resulted in her getting her way’ - this felt like the most Cornelia thing ever to me, and you have no idea how happy it made me when she actually WAS carrying a cane (which she didn’t appear to actually NEED) in the final series. I maintain this as my headcanon for why.

name: michelle age: 26 pronouns: she / her sexuality: bisexual zodiac sign: virgo taken or single: single
FOUR THINGS ABOUT THIS BLOG:
❄ i will never be caught up on drafts again bc i always forget about what i call magic penis power. aka male muses get so much more attention than female ones and i. never. remember. so then i’m always backed up. it’s a thing.
❄ memes are what i call bonus things. most people don’t even acknowledge that you wrote them and it annoys me so i only do them if i feel likeit. typically if we’ve never interacted i’ll do it to give us a thing tho.
❄ richard madden appreciation life. which i could be sorry about the recent post golden globes spam but like....am i?
❄ usually around but i hide a lot. bc...when i post everyone wants something. and i honestly cannot pay attention to so many people. most active from 8pm PST and on since...most people are sleeping and i can sit in peace while doing replies.
THREE MUN FACTS:
❄ i’m allergic to peanuts.
❄ human anxiety, which is why i can sometimes come across disinterested. i don’t mean to be unhelpful i truly just don’t have tons of specific preferences in life. lmao.
❄ i have blue eyes
EXPERIENCE:
how’d you start: it was an elijah blog from tvd/to and it started bc i was in a group but i knew someone with a katherine indie and the rest is history.
platforms you’ve used: tumblr. forums. kik. discord.
best experience: uh, this one hasn’t made me cry yet so that’s good.
worst experience: my r.obb st.ark blog. i have like 5 different stories of the shit i went through. nightmareeeee.
MUSE PREFERENCES:
original or canon: both
favorite face: richard obviously. but otherwise i really like rare fcs you don’t see often.
least favorite face: anyone overused.
multi or single: for me single bc i suck. but i do like interacting w/ multi. it’s fun.
WRITING PREFERENCES:
plots or memes: winging it lmao. i am not the person to talk to if you want to like plot out every detail or talk endless headcanons. i often will just be like ‘fuck idk’ because what i say and what i do in the moment are very different.
best time to write: 1am
do you like your muse(s): sure yeah.
how long (months/years?): have i been rping?? uh i’ll assume that. i started on my 18th birthday bc a guy (another horror story) dragged me in and i will 27 in sept. SO. i have taken roughly 3 or 4 years off tho. it hasn’t been consistent. i do it then i quit then i come back then i quit, etc.
fluff, angst, or smut: smut or angst. fluff is okay but not like only fluff.
