Exactly as you said in your reply to the previous ask, his problem management truly was a masterclass! It's not a masterclass only when he's overtaking impressively or going wheel to wheel with other drivers, it's about seeing his work between the lines and understanding of the structure of the car. And that's the difference between someone who simply watches a race and someone who watches and comprehends what's going on at any given moment. That's why the opinions of most fans on here are absolute bullshit, because if they don't see some crazy driving, then clearly the driver is washed and overrated. Honestly, you and users valyrfia and tsarinablogs (might have messed the names up) have given me hope that there's true fans of motorsport on here, your guys' takes are practically the only ones I agree with - because you possess critical and logical thinking
whoo! shout out to @tsarinablogs and @valyrfia!
yeah, most fans only see what they want to see, and that's okay. i know a lot of f1 fans who just do not bother to watch races and only watch the highlights which never really shows the full picture.
i don't have problems with any of these people but if you engage in public discourse re: racing, you should look up the data to back up your takes.
i think it's more fun to see what's going on and with charles you can always learn more about the way he drives and thinks on the track (when he explained how he was preparing for the vegas checo overtake, or how he predicted max's behaviour in abu dhabi at the start and used it to his advantage come to mind).

Hello! I don’t know if you’re up for Carlos’ promt.😅 I’m really a fangirl😂 I always wanted to right fanfic but I was never good with words, and I always check up on your blog for new ones. I know there’s only one fanfic for Carlos atm, so if I Can I request like Carlos is jealous because Max is the character’s ex? Like they’re already engaged but Max is still trying to fight for her and Carlos is really jealous and mad? A bit of angst would be great🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thank youuuu!
You drew circles on Carlos's bare back in an attempt to wake him slightly. You looked at your ring finger on which now stood a beautiful diamond ring, the most beautiful you had ever seen, and memories of last night filled your mind and formed butterflies in your stomach.
When your best friend spontaneously took you to a shopping session followed by a manicure and pedicure appointment, you thought it was her way of spending time with you after she had been extremely busy with work for the past few months. It never occurred to you that Carlos might be up to something even when you saw that he and Lando's location was off. Why would you think Carlos was planning something? It was Tuesday, there were a few months until your birthday, Carlos' birthday had just passed, it wasn't your birthday, damn, it wasn't even your dog's birthday. Although, in retrospect, you had to realize that something was wrong. Your best friend in the mall on a Tuesday afternoon? She the one who goes to work even when she has the flu or when she broke her leg and had to keep it in plaster for two months.
But you didn't even realize his plan when your best friend bought you a gorgeous dress and made you wear it before you left for home. Honestly, you wouldn't look decent for an engagement just in ripped jeans and a T-shirt.
When she stopped in front of the house and stopped the engine you asked her what was going on but she just said she wanted to take the pair of jeans she had lent you a few months ago because she had a date and she wanted to wear them. You didn't pay much attention and opened the car door.
From the house you could see a very diffused and dim light. Candles? You thought then and you were tempted to think it was a power outage but the neighbors had light. Did I pay the current bill this month?
When you opened the door of the house and saw the rose petals on the floor you immediately thought of a romantic dinner with Spanish food, in no case did you expect to see Carlos on his knees in the middle of your living room. At that moment, everything made sense.
“You are the only one who understands me even more than myself. You are the only one with whom I can share everything, even my personal secrets. I want you to be with me always. I believe that if we’re lucky enough to have found each other in the first place, we’re worth betting on for life. Will, you hold my hand and be mine forever?” Carlos had said in a voice trembling with emotion and the ring in his hands.
You would never have answered otherwise than yes. You didn't even notice Lando in a corner of the living room filming everything or your best friend who was no longer behind you but somewhere to your right taking pictures.
Carlos, with trembling hands, put the ring on your finger and kissed you, his hands making room on your cheeks, wiping away your tears. You were happy. You have found your forever home.
You all opened a champagne and listened to how Carlos planned, with the help of your best friend, for three months, the whole engagement. He told you how close you were to turning all his plans upside down.
"I bought the ring when I was in Abu Dhabi for the Grand Prix," he says, and you remember that Grand Prix was three weeks ago. "When I bought it, I stayed with Lando, I think, for two hours in my hotel room, thinking about where to hide the ring so that you wouldn't find it when I returned home and it would be handy for me to take it out quickly and hide it at home. I finally decided to hide it in a pair of socks and put it in the small compartment of my bag. On my way home, however, I completely forgot that I put the ring in my bag. I was firmly convinced that it is in the backpack and when I got home you immediately took the bag to wash my clothes, as you always do. When I opened the backpack and saw that the ring was not there, I panicked extremely hard and ran to you to get the bag." he finishes telling the story and you start laughing.
You remembered that day perfectly.
"Is that why you were so white in the face? I really thought you were sick."
"Good morning, my beautiful fiancée." Carlos says in his harsh morning voice and looks at you with glassy eyes.
You smile at him and bend down to kiss him.
"Good morning, my wonderful fiancé."
He gets up in bed and hugs you.
"You have no idea how happy I am that I can hug you and say that you are mine now."
"And I was yours before, only now I have a ring on my finger."
"Mhm," Carlos says, muffled by your hair. "Now you have a ring on your finger that can keep Max away from you."
The smile on your face faded slowly. Max? What did Max have to do with your engagement? Sure, he's your ex-boyfriend, but you broke up three years ago.
It was a pretty hard breakup, more for him than for you. You broke up with him because you felt your relationship was no longer working. He didn't pay enough attention to you, you often quarreled and you felt like the love you had for him was fading with each passing day.
Max didn't comment on anything when you broke up with him, saying that it was better for both of you to go your separate ways.
That was until he saw you hand in hand with Carlos less than two months after the breakup. What he was feeling was a new feeling: jealousy. He couldn't understand the fact that you broke up with him and now you're in love with Carlos. When had this happened? Did Carlos like you when you were still together? Did you like him when you were in bed with him? He had many questions, but he would have died rather than asking you, showing you that he still cares about you.
So, he decided to ignore you, to ignore you both, hoping that your relationship won't last. But he saw you every day laughing at his jokes, he saw how he kissed the lips he had kissed until recently, how he held your hand that once caressed his hair.
It's true, lately Max and you have gotten closer. You have realized that there is no point in resentment between you considering that you see each other every day and, in the end, you are two responsible adults, you can behave nicely with each other.
Or so you thought. Carlos saw behind Max's actions. He saw how his touch on your shoulder lasted longer than normal, how in a room full of people Max is looking for you, he noticed that he always wants to know your opinion when he asks a question. Carlos realized pretty quickly that Max wants to win you back and he didn't tell you that just once.
How many times have you told Carlos that you don't care what Max's intentions are, that you love Carlos, he didn't seem to understand.
"What do you mean by that, Carlos?" you say annoyed. "Did you ask me to marry you to prove something to Max? To show him he has no chance of being with me?"
Carlos stood up and looked at you with wide eyes. You were angry, very angry and he knew he had said something wrong.
"No, of course not, love. I asked you to marry me because I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
"Yeah, that's what you said last night in your speech. But now you're bringing Max up and I don't understand why. Did I do anything to make you doubt me?"
"No, no, of course not. You didn't do anything, love.
"You get out of bed and go to the bathroom.
"Then what is it? I keep hearing about Max. Max said that, Max did that, like Max is the third person in this relationship."
"I don't trust him!" he says in exasperation. "He's still trying to get under your skin and you allow him. I can't believe you don't see that he wants you back!"
"Carlos, for God's sake, do you hear yourself? He wants me back! Very well, let him want me for all I care! It's been three years since I broke up with him, don't you think I'd be back with him by now if that’s what I want? Understand that I can't control if he likes me or not, but I can control my feelings. And guess what, my heart chose you. So stop with this stupid jealousy!"
Carlos bites his lip and looks at you.
"You're right. I'm very sorry." he says and takes you in his arms. "Please forgive me, I'm very insecure because I love you so much and I don't want to ever lose you.
"You smile then kiss him.
"I am yours, forever."
"Forever."

His Good Sweater: Chapter 4
Masterlist
Thank you as always to my best friend and Beta reader @acollectionofficsandshit for putting up with me and my ramblings ♥
Word Count: 3.8k
Recommended song: "ily (I love you baby)" by Surf Mesa and Emilee
You'd never been more thankful that you kept a change of clothes in your car than you were after the race at Silverstone. You'd showered again, changing back into the sweaty tee and leggings. The clean emergency hoodie and jeans were a blessing, and casual enough for a night on the town.
Most of the crew had left, only a few poor souls pouring over race data or packing up essentials. James let you into the trailer yard this time without hesitation. "We really should just get you a key," He teases, "Sure would make my life easier."
Rolling your eyes, you give the tower of muscle a pitiful shove. He doesn't move an inch. "Thanks James. I'll ask Pierre to look into it."
A sudden wave of tiredness washes over you when you make it back to the trailer. You flip through the channels on the tiny television, settling on an analysis of the day’s race.
“And a brilliant drive from young Pierre Gasly, wasn’t it John?”
“I completely agree Martin. Gasly took advantage of every slip up by Mercedes and Red Bull and he has to be commended for that. Max made some rare mistakes and…”
You smile to yourself, their praise washing over you. Yawning, you curl up on Pierre's bed, the familiar smell of cedar lulling you into a light sleep in minutes.
**********
A gentle touch to your cheek wakes you some hours later. You crack your eyes open, greeted by a smile brighter than the stars in the night sky. You taste eternal sunshine on his lips when you kiss him, your soul sparking in response to his light.
"Good morning," He murmurs, thumb rubbing along your jaw. "Sleep well?"
You snuggle closer to him, eyes closing once more as you soak up the warmth. "Is it time to go out already?"
"It is. But we can stay here if you want to." He brushes a stray hair off your face. The gesture is so tender, if you didn’t know any better you’d never guess he could turn into the seasoned, take-no-shit racer you’d seen hours before.
You shake your head. You couldn't let him miss out on celebrating his victory with his closest friends. Besides, you hadn't seen any of them for a span of time longer than a few minutes in months, and truth be told, you missed them all.
Those boys had a knack for turning the simplest of outings into unforgettable adventures. You had been sworn to secrecy on numerous occasions after Pierre recounted drunken escapades that usually ended with Max sleeping somewhere preposterous, like a claw-footed bathtub in a fancy suite.
“Where are we going?” You ask sleepily. “Somewhere nearby?”
Pierre tugs you up until you’re sitting. He pulls you back against his chest, arms wrapping around you as he sets his chin on your shoulder. “Yeah. Maybe ten minutes away.”
You lean your full weight against him, admiring how perfectly your bodies slot together. “Can I leave my car here?”
“As long as you’re okay with it staying here until tomorrow, that’s fine.” He coaxes you to stand and presses a kiss to your temple as a reward. Your limbs are still heavy and uncooperative. Pierre winds an arm around your waist, supporting you and assuming the position of your rock as he always did.
"You don't sleep here," You state simply, looking at him for confirmation. He shakes his head.
"Wouldn't be enough room for two anyway." He gestures to the tiny twin sized bed and shrugs.
Your brow furrows. “Am I staying with you tonight?” You honestly had not considered it. The jet usually left early and you had assumed he would want to get as much rest as possible. But now that you had experienced waking up next to him, you realize how much you want his face to be the first thing you see when you open your eyes each morning.
“Of course you’re staying with me. I’m taking every second of your time that I can get.”
You bite your lip and lay your head on his shoulder. The idea of falling asleep in his arms was enough to shake any lingering sleepiness. “Okay.” Confident that you could hold yourself up, you step out of his grasp. “Ready.”
The few mechanics roaming about the grounds are enough to keep you cautious. You walk through the paddock a hair's breadth apart, although every nerve screams for you to touch him. Every time your arm grazes his, electricity ripples across your skin. All you want to do is hold his hand, but there’s enough prying eyes that you restrain the impulse.
You can tell he feels it too by the way his fingers curl and uncurl at his sides. And he's biting his cheek, you notice. A nervous habit of his and a clear indicator that he'd retreated inside his own head, likely contemplating if he'd truly deserved to win today or not.
Every few months his doubts crept in, the devil on his shoulder reminding him that Horner hadn't deemed him good enough to keep his seat at Red Bull after only a handful of races.
You'll never be as talented as them, is what you'd imagined it whispered. They're only here because they pity you. What makes you think you deserve a seat?
It couldn't be farther from the truth. Deep down, Pierre knew that. Driving in Formula 1 meant being under constant scrutiny from the public and sportscasters. Making an error meant debates about whether you were good enough and rumors about seat security.
There were no such errors today. You'd heard the commentary after the race; everyone was raving about his performance. Not one person had dared say he didn't deserve it.
Not wanting him to suffer alone, you subtly wrap your pinky finger around his. "You're okay," You say softly, his head whipping to you. "You deserved that trophy today. It was some of the best driving I've ever seen, everyone agrees. You deserve a trophy every time you get in that car. You'll always be my champion, even if the world tells you otherwise."
It takes a moment for it to sink in, but he nods and releases your pinkie. "You're my grounding rod," He says, lips curling in a knowing smile, and you can't hold back your laugh.
"Leave it to you to turn a romantic moment into a cheesy one." Instead of saying you're my rock like any normal person, he had to bring up the time you'd embarrassed yourself at the bar a year or so ago. He'd let you prattle on to poor Dan about building grounding rods of all things, and how you'd thought your professor's way of designing such a system was flawed. Pierre would never let you live that down, it seemed.
Max spots the two of you first, waving from where the boys had gathered outside Red Bull. “About time you showed up! We’ve been waiting for ten minutes!”
“She fell asleep,” Pierre says simply, his confidence back. “Takes her awhile to wake up.”
“Whatever, I’m just glad you’re here,” Daniel says, throwing an arm around your shoulders and tucking you tight to his side. You couldn’t help the broad smile creeping onto your face, twin to the aussie’s as you hug him back.
“We missed you,” Charles says, falling into step beside you. “I never hear from you anymore!”
You grimace. It was true, while the three boys had texted you quite frequently the past few months, you had barely responded to them. You felt guilty about it, knowing they were taking time out of their packed schedules to catch up. But uni had been kicking your ass and the only one you’d found time for was Pierre. Looking back, you were glad he had been the exception.
“Yeah, sorry about that,” You say. “Lots of projects.”
“And that new internship,” Max points out. Your eyebrows flick up, gaze flicking to Pierre. You had been awarded an internship a month or so ago at a local engineering firm in London. It was only part time work, a few hours a week, but it was enough. The only one you had told was Pierre.
Pierre grins, the gesture a silent apology. “I may have spilled the beans.”
You cut him a glare, the others laughing at your attempt at being intimidating. But you couldn’t turn away from him, not when he was looking at you with the same pride you had felt when he’d won earlier that day.
“Uber’s here,” Charles announces, checking his phone.
“Where?” Daniel asks, and Charles indicates a black SUV parked at the curb. Daniel and Max exchange a look, shouting “Shotgun!” at the same time. Both boys break into a full sprint, feet pounding on the pavement. Daniel wins - barely, leaving Max and Charles to squeeze into the back seat.
Pierre follows you into the third row of seats, his hand immediately engulfing yours. Your stomach flips, glancing up to find a reassuring smile on his face. You could barely focus on what was said for the first half of the ride, hyperaware of the callouses rubbing your skin. The world around you erupts into color at the touch, completing the part of you that you’d never realized was missing.
The remainder of the drive is filled with laughter, jokes, and plenty of selfies with the driver. It wasn’t every day one could brag about having four world class drivers in your car; you couldn’t blame the man for being excited.
By the time you arrive at the bar, your sides are already splitting with laughter. “First round is on you, Ricciardo,” Charles says, wagging a finger at him. “Punishment for bringing up the Abu Dhabi incident again!”
“Jokes on you, I was already planning on it!” He glances at you and winks. “Gotta congratulate the winner somehow, right?” Little did the Australian know, you had already congratulated Pierre a few hours ago, and you doubted that a few shots would outshine that performance. You hope the pink tinge that rises to your cheeks with the memory isn't obvious and you duck your head just in case.
A blast of air conditioning hits you as you all stumble into the bar. All eyes fell to you and the ragtag group of drivers when you entered, silence blanketing the patrons. The bartender slams a fist on the wooden bartop, rattling glasses and making you flinch.
“Been wonderin’ when you lot were gonna show your ugly mugs!”
Daniel, Max and Charles erupt into friendly laughter, shaking the man’s hand and making small talk. You look to Pierre for an explanation.
“Tradition,” He murmurs. The noise returned to a normal level around you, though you could feel the glances thrown your way. “We come here every year, but only if one of us wins at Silverstone. Been awhile since that happened.”
"Ah," You say, nodding dramatically. "Yes, very long time." Pierre grins, shaking his head.
"Who won this year?" The man - William, Pierre informs you- asks. He towered over you when you sat on the sticky bar stool, tall and lanky but well muscled and certainly not someone you would expect patrons to try disrespecting. He was already pouring five shots of a fine Irish Whiskey, waving Daniel off when he tried to start a tab. “My treat.”
Max claps a hand on Pierre's shoulder. "This one claimed the crown, for once!"
"Wey hey!" William says, passing out the shots. "Everyone else crash out or what?"
"You should watch the replay," You say, knocking Pierre's shoulder with your own. "It was amazing. The move he used to get past Max-" you bring your pinched fingers to your lips in a chef's kiss. "Gorgeous."
"Much to Max's despair," Charles adds, raising his shot. "To the underdog!"
You all echo the sentiment, the boys knocking back the strong alcohol with practiced ease. It didn't go down as smooth for you, burning your throat and making you wince.
Daniel laughs. "Not used to drinking with us anymore, huh?"
"Must have lost my edge," You say, the woody taste lingering in your mouth. "I'm sure it'll hit me hard in a half hour or so, too."
**********
Well, you weren't wrong about the alcohol hitting you like a punch to the gut. Two shots later and you were swaying like a sailor on his first excursion out to sea, Pierre's shoulder the only thing keeping you from toppling off the bar stool.
Pierre's eyes were bright as the others poked fun at him, William joining in with a witty remark now and then. His laugh wrapped around you like a warm blanket, keeping you content and grounded.
"Hey Pierre," Daniel says at one point, "Don't look now but that table of girls has been obsessed with you all night."
Pierre, blitzed as he was, pays no attention to Dan's warning and turns around. A loopy grin was plastered on his face, turning back and shaking his head.
You may not have been able to think straight, but your stomach lurches. Instantly sobering slightly, you follow Dan's gaze to the indicated table to your left. Three beautiful women sat there, whispering behind their hands and clearly speaking about Pierre. One bit her lip and caught your eye, giggling. Her looks were universally attractive enough that she would be anyone’s type, Pierre included. The possessiveness in the gaze she raked over his body set your blood boiling.
This… was not a scenario you wanted to play out. You didn't know if Pierre was ready to tell his friends about your relationship yet. You knew he wouldn't let any of those girls have the light of day, but he might let them fawn over him a little, just to protect your secret. And it would kill you, but you would have no choice but to let it happen.
"I'm good," Pierre says, sipping the beer he had been nursing all night.
"Come on mate," Max pushes, a wicked grin on his flushed face, "That blonde is so your type."
No she isn't.
You’re already staring up at Pierre when he turns to you. You have always worn your emotions on your sleeve for anyone to see, and it only got worse when mixed with alcohol. Pierre smiles softly, taking mercy on you. Slowly, he takes your hand and threads your fingers together before turning back to the boys.
"One of you can tell them I’m not interested. I already have my girl."
Heart beating wildly, you scan your friends faces. They were all wide eyed and slack jawed, staring at your joined hands. Pierre gives your hand a gentle squeeze, reminding you to breathe. He read you like an open book, offering reassurance when you needed it most.
"It's about fucking time!" Daniel roars, breaking the tense silence. Your shoulders relax, grinning along with the others. Pierre beams at you, knocking your shoulder to say I told you so.
"Does this mean I get a break from listening to you obsess over her every weekend?" Max asks, giving you a meaningful look.
"Likely not," Pierre answers. "I'm still just as obsessed as before. Maybe more." Max pretends to gag, earning him a playful punch from Charles. God, it was so freeing for your relationship to be more open, even if it was just between your closest friends.
"I'd just like to point out that I told you two this would happen years ago," Charles says matter of factly, pointing at Max and Dan. "Should've taken you up on that bet."
Your mouth hung open. "You were going to bet on us being a couple?"
"Oh come on," Max says, rolling his eyes. "We all knew it was coming eventually. We just didn't know when!"
Pink stains your cheeks, but Pierre laughs and leans in to kiss you. Remembering the girls behind you, you press a little closer to him. Under the guise of placing a kiss to his cheek, you meet the blonde's eyes and smile sweetly.
The woman preens, mouth twisting. Good. Pierre was yours, and now that he'd admitted it, you could let those girls know it. His hand slips to your thigh, squeezing hard. A clear warning that you were venturing into dangerous territory. You didn't care.
The alcohol in your veins makes you bold, and you want to drive your point home. They could look all they wanted, but he was coming home with you. You push the boundary farther and bite the soft skin of his neck just hard enough to leave a mark. Pierre's hiss finally makes you pull back and look up at him innocently.
"Get a room," Daniel teases with a wink. You smile at him, mumbling an insincere apology. Your point had been made. The arrogant smirk had been wiped from the woman’s face, replaced with a grimace.
"I think it is time for us to get going," Pierre says, annoyance flashing across his face. Oh, you had stoked the fire and now you would have to face the consequences.
"We're just getting started," Charles complains. Pierre slaps a few bills on the counter and gets up without responding.
"Bye guys!" You call over your shoulder as Pierre drags you towards the door. They all wave back, Max's lower lip jutting out in a pout. Your eyes slid one more time to the blonde, who had her arms crossed over her chest. You give her a wicked, taunting grin and return her earlier wink.
Pierre halts so quickly that you run into him. “Why are we leaving?”
“You know why,” He growls, flagging down a cab. “You didn't like how she was looking at me, so you did something about it. You might not have noticed, but every man in that bar had their eyes on you. So I’m following your example and doing something about it.”
Your brow furrows. Pierre won’t meet your gaze, and your eyes fall to the purple mark on his neck. You didn’t like his tone; it bordered dangerously on anger. “Are you… Are you mad that I did that?”
Tears threaten to spill when he finally looks at you. God, you were a blubbering drunk. When your lip wobbles, his anger fades and he sighs. “I’m not mad. I just… I didn’t think you’d want me flaunting our relationship yet. When you did this-” He gestures to his neck- “I could barely keep my hands off you. Not when I saw the guy walking up to you.”
You sniff, trying to conjure the image of the bar. “I didn’t notice anyone.”
“Yeah, cause I dragged you out here before he could say anything.” Pierre pulls his hood up and sighs. “Trying to catch a cab here is harder than overtaking Hamilton.”
You laugh harder than you should at the off-hand remark, following after him as he trudges down the sidewalk. “Why are you not drunk? I feel like you should be drunk. You won a race. They were feeding you shots one after another.”
“One of us had to be responsible and make sure we got home okay.” He smiles over his shoulder at you. “And I knew as soon as you had that first shot it would have to be me. Didn’t you notice me handing the shots to the other guys?”
“No,” You say, rubbing your eyes. “What about the boys? How are they gonna get home?” Pierre stops, forcing you to do the same. He tugs your hood up, makes sure his is secure enough to hide his face, and grabs your hand.
“I already told Seb to come round them up in an hour or so. They’ll be fine.”
You don’t respond, too busy trying to put one foot in front of the other and not fall on your face. It doesn’t help that your vision is a tad blurry. Finally you give up and whine, “How much further?”
“It’s right there,” He says, pointing at a towering glass building just across the street. “In five minutes, you can be tucked into a cozy, fluffy suite and you can rest all you want, my love.”
You hum at the words, warmth flooding your veins from more than the liquor. “I like that.”
“What, the building?” He asks, amused. He helps you cross the empty street, making sure you’re paying attention to where you’re going.
“Noooo, what you said,” You clarify, leaning on him as you try to navigate the handful of steps leading to the hotel.
He’s quiet until you reach the elevator. “My love,” He murmurs, and you grin up at him.
“Mon… mon coeur,” You manage to say, somehow pulling the French phrase out of the dregs of your memory. The words are slurred and you know that you absolutely botch the pronunciation, but the intent is clear. You may have lived in France since you were 18, but learning the language wasn’t a requirement when almost everyone knew english as well. But the two of you had spent many hours watching Pierre’s favorite french films over the years; some of it must have unintentionally rubbed off on you.
A disbelieving smile tugs at his lips. “How do you even know what that means?”
You shrug. “Just do.” The elevator doors open and you step out, Pierre following. You halt, not knowing which hall to take. You glance up at your companion for help, only to find him staring back at you. “What?”
He shakes his head and leads you down the corridor to his room. It's a spacious corner suite, with huge windows facing Silverstone that give him a perfect view of the track. You make for the window but Pierre’s hand on your wrist stops you.
“I don’t think so, it’s time for you to sleep.”
“But I just wanna see,” You protest weakly.
“Nice try. I know you. You’ll sit in front of that window for hours if I let you.”
You give in only because he was right. Cityscapes of any kind drew your attention like a moth to a flame. You pouted anyway, but let him take you to the bedroom. Gentle pressure on your shoulders had you sinking into the plush mattress, groaning at the luxurious softness. Pierre laughs as he helps you out of your shoes and jeans, leaving the hoodie.
Eyelids drooping, you climb under the covers Pierre had pulled back for you. He tucks you in and kisses your temple. You grab for him, tugging on his shirt until he stoops down and gives you a proper kiss. When he steps out of your grasp, you panic.
“Stay,” You mumble, fear bubbling in your chest. He had to stay, he couldn’t leave, not when you only had this one night left-
“I’m just taking off my shoes,” He assures you, his weight sliding in behind you to settle against your back. You sigh, moulding yourself to him as best you could. Being in his arms was somehow familiar, even if he’d never held you like this. It felt like home.
“Pierre?”
“Hmm?”
“I love you.”
Pillowy soft lips press to the nape of your neck. “I love you too, mon coeur.”

(x) Good things come to those who wait? Callum Ilott is certainly hoping that proves to be the case after his step back from front-line single-seater racing in 2021.
Last year, the Ferrari Driver Academy protege was one of the stars of the FIA Formula 2 series, and eventually finished runner-up to Maranello stablemate Mick Schumacher. He had harboured serious hopes of being promoted to a slot at Haas or Alfa Romeo, Ferrari's partner teams. But even as the end of F2 campaign drew to a close, he knew he would be standing by as Schumacher's graduation to F1 was confirmed, along with those of third-placed Yuki Tsunoda and fifth-placed Nikita Mazepin.
With no slot available, and after opting not to have a third crack at F2, Ilott has moved into the role as second reserve at Alfa Romeo. He also has a programme in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup with the Iron Lynx Ferrari squad to help keep him race fit.
The Alfa deal at least puts him a step closer to a race seat. He's already enjoyed one FP1 outing, in Portugal, and there are four or five more to come as the year progresses. At some races where Robert Kubica isn't available he will be the primary reserve, and he could be needed if Ferrari has a problem and Antonio Giovinazzi is called upon to switch to the works team, leaving an Alfa seat vacant. So the 22-year-old is keeping himself busy, and getting over the disappointment of not going straight into a race seat in 2021.
"Obviously, I wasn't best pleased when I first got the news, because it is quite hard to see your competitors make the step up," he admits. "But I'm one of these people that once you're in a situation that you can't necessarily change, and once you're put in a position where you have to deal with it, you've got to make the most of it. Which is what I'm trying to do.
"To be honest, if anything it's probably a good thing in the sense that I'll just work harder to make it happen. So for me, it's not an option to have if, buts or maybes. It's like we'll make it happen or no, basically!"
Ilott insists that until the Haas and Alfa seats were officially filled, he still believed he had a chance of finding a berth, despite the obvious momentum behind Schumacher and indications that there would be no change at Alfa.
"Of course I was trying to always look for positives," he reflects. "But it's not up to me. I've got to work for it; I've got to make sure that someone is completely happy in taking me. I've got to make sure I'm the full package because once you're here, you've got to be at the top of your game all the time.
"I've got to be confident in that process, because that's all I can be. But I like to make things happen to myself – I'm a very stubborn kid if someone says no! I'll push as much as possible."
He is now totally immersed in the Hinwil camp, soaking up what information he can, while also staying close to Ferrari.
"I've got to show that I'm someone that you'd be happy to trust and put in the car and know that they would do a good job" Callum Ilott
"I'm additional reserve driver for Alfa Romeo, and test driver for Ferrari," Ilott explains. "So simply explained, it's split between me and Robert [Kubica] for the season. Obviously, he has a few more LMP commitments than I have in GT, because I've only got five race weekends. So when he's not around and he's got commitments on that side, I'll be here.
"The next one for me is Baku [next month]. In between races I'll be in Maranello, and head over to Hinwil sometimes for some sim and preparation. It's very variable, because some race weekends I'll be at the track, some race weekends in Maranello. I'm there if someone needs me, depending on whatever the conditions are.
"Obviously I'm part of FDA, so we've got our weekly schedules on that side. I help Ferrari on the test side, if there's anything that needs to be done there. So I'm there for whoever needs me, and trying to get as much experience and learning as possible. If I'm not on the tracks, I'll be watching as closely as possible back in the factory."
A third driver role is not always easy – all that hanging around at tracks when you're not racing – but Ilott is making the most of the Alfa opportunity.
"I end up with probably too many questions for everyone to be able to answer, because they're all busy!" he laughs. "I'm in a year where I'm in this position, so I've got to make the most of it. OK, it's not personal experience, but you can watch and learn from others.
"I speak to Mick, I've spoken to Charles [Leclerc]. I do get an understanding from them what the limitations might be in a rookie season, that kind of thing. So it's more about being as ready as possible for when an opportunity arises.
"A Friday [FP1] is a good way to hopefully have a regular experience and learn as much as possible in a short amount of time. I've got to show that I'm someone that you'd be happy to trust and put in the car and know that they would do a good job."
The first FP1 outing in Portugal was a big moment for Ilott, especially after the disappointment of bad weather washing out his planned outing with Haas at the Nurburgring last year.
"It's not just turning up on the weekend – you've got to do the pre-preparation, seat fit, all the data and everything like that, it was like a solid couple of weeks of prep," he says.
"To not then drive was a bit of a disappointment, so to finally get out in Portugal was a good experience. It's different compared to a free practice day, or the Abu Dhabi rookie test. It's limited running, you've got an hour, and all the cars are on track at the same time.
"It's just a bit more compact, and you've got to make sure everything's perfect and get up to speed as quick as possible. It was definitely a very positive session, things I needed to improve and learn on, and there was progress throughout. And hopefully for the next one, there should be a bit more of a step."
Crucially, he impressed his team boss.
"You have to show the pace, but most important, you don't have to crash," says Alfa's Fred Vasseur. "You have to show that you are the best one, but please don't put the wheel on the kerb!
"And this exercise is very difficult. Portimao is probably the most tricky track, but I think he did a very, very strong performance. The most important thing for us also is to keep him in the car on a monthly basis, let's say, because part of his job is the simulator, and he needs to get connected to the car. He's very well integrated into the team, and is doing a good job. And I'm pleased to have him on board."
Ilott has no regrets about not continuing in F2 for a third season, as tempting as it was to be out there racing. In effect he had more to lose than to gain.
"I love to race F2, it was a great format, it's just there was only one place better I could go. And I think, with the three races [the new F2 weekend format], a lot has changed" Callum Ilott
"I had discussions, within Ferrari, within the F2 teams," he confirms. "But the call was on the late side of what the situation was for F1. And so by that time, you had a lot of the F2 teams already decided, and it's not so easy to then change teams again and be in another unfamiliar environment.
"I finished second in the championship, five poles, three wins. I was as close as you were going to get to winning it. Not that you don't want to take that risk: I love to race F2, it was a great format, it's just there was only one place better I could go. And I think, with the three races [the new F2 weekend format], a lot has changed.
"Also, as much as regular driving is important, which it is, if you need to need jump in I think there's another level of information that you need to learn from F1 which I wasn't going to maximise if I was doing a full race season in F2."
Ilott admits that he was a bit wary about committing to a race programme in GTs, but he enjoyed his first outing at Monza, which ended with him taking fourth place.
"To be honest, I was a little bit hesitant at first, because it's not what I'm used to, it's not what I'm comfortable with," he says. "But now that I've done one race weekend, and quite a few tests, I really enjoy it.
"It's a good immersive series, first of all, very competitive, and it's another element of driving that I haven't really experienced. The endurance side, longer stints. There's always something to learn and always something to transfer.
"It's not the same car, it's not anywhere near to a single-seater in corner speeds, but the focus of driving, the repetition on that side, feedback, all of that, there's another thing that you have to adapt to. I'm just doing the endurance races – Monza, Paul Ricard, Spa, Barcelona, all proper tracks. The Spa 24 Hours will be an experience, for sure."
"I still think I'm in a very, very good position. Yes, I have to wait a year. I've seen people wait two" Callum Ilott
The GT programme is not going to help Ilott into an F1 seat, but what might assist him as the year progresses is strong form from his former rivals, Tsunoda and Schumacher.
"Yuki made a great impression in Bahrain, it was really good to watch, actually," enthuses Ilott. "So from that side, it was a good benchmark to say, 'Look, here's what one guy can do'. With Mick, we all know that he takes a bit of time to get there. But once he's there, he will be good. And you can already see the pace is getting better.
"I think they're doing a good job, and I think it's only a matter of time before the reference is even closer. And it's easier for me to say, 'Well, I was in the middle of these two guys!'
"I still think I'm in a very, very good position. Yes, I have to wait a year. I've seen people wait two. I think the focus is still on doing the best job as possible on the GT side, and the FP1 side, and then hopefully an opportunity may present itself."

BODY TYPE AND BUILD: she is naturally slim - courtesy of genetics and her fast metabolism - but, despite that fact, she still has a willowy frame. by no means, does she have a hourglass shape with a big bust, tiny waist and thick thighs but with a good, healthy diet and a workout plan ( that she, often, forgets to follow ) consisting of some weight training and fun classes, naomi has still managed to achieve a shape she’s comfortable with. she has particularly long legs and, thanks to all the hot yoga and pilates classes, she holds a rather toned overall body. EYE COLOR: brown. HAIR COLOR: dark brown. HAIR STYLE: her hair is, has always been - and will always be, according to her - long, hitting the middle of her back, at worst, when she goes for a trim to keep its healthy condition and it has a natural wavy texture which naomi has learned to love. styling wise, it rarely gets too eventful... during the season, she’ll throw it on a ponytail or a bun for the race weekends and allow it to dry into its natural texture on the remaining work days. if she’s attending an event of sorts or going out to celebrate, she’ll straighten it or go for a nice blowout. DOMINANT HAND: right. NOTABLE PHYSICAL TRAITS: her lips or, possibly, their plumpness, her legs that often seem endless, her tan complexion and how it makes her dark eyes and hair standout, and for the rare occasions when it makes an appearance, her smile. SCARS AND MARKS: nothing outstanding - she has your average scars and marks here and there. TATTOOS: she has a lotus mandala on the inside of her right wrist, a symbol of enlightenment for her, as well as a way to symbolize all the growth she achieved throughout her life. PIERCINGS: regular lobes. VOICECLAIM: nicole elise. ACCENT AND INTENSITY: having moved out and grown up in london, naomi developed a thick london accent which she never knew how intense it was up until she found herself in massachusetts. the four years spent there, softened the intensity of the british accent and the nearly six years in spain also played a part when washing away what once was a proper londoner accent so, these days, it’s hard to identify what accent she has exactly. it’s more of a mixture than anything specific. ALLERGIES: cherries and insect stings, particularly bee stings. PHOBIAS AND FEARS: extremely deep waters and though it’s not a phobia, she gets really nervous when she’s driving over bridges. MENTAL ILLNESSES: none so far. PHYSICAL ILLNESSES: none so far. SCENT THEY WEAR: it varies depending on a lot of factors, such as season of the year, time of the day, occasion and, above all, her personal mood. during summer, you’ll often catch her wearing soleil blanc by tom ford or replica beach walk by maison margiela, and during summer nights, she'll wear sundaze by byredo. for fancy events, her go-to is bewitching yasmine by penhaligon’s, same way her go-to for nights out with friends is slow dance by byredo. whenever she has an important business meeting, she’ll wear cuir celeste by ex nihilo, simply because in naomi’s opinion, the scent is the definition of boss bitch and throughout race weekends, she’ll go for rose of no man’s land by byredo. le labo’s patchouli 24 and maison margiela’s replica by the fireplace are generally the scents she wears through winter. for date nights where she actually cares to put some effort in and is actually interested in the person, she’ll specifically wear reine de nuit by byredo or santal 33 by le labo. in an oddly poetic way i think f1 has once again come full circle
mercedes are winning: BOO BOO CHEATERS BORING FIA IN YOUR POCKEY BOOO - rbr + everyone else
redbull are winning: BOO BOO CHEATERS BORING FIA IN YOUR POCKEY BOOO - mercedes + everyone else
lucky for ferrari they havent been & wont be winning to experience this pattern of events
To be fair for Mercedes it was DAS which was a genius invention and then people thought Mercedes was cheating because they actually developed their car well last year and also because Lewis was *checks notes* taking performace enhancing drugs and trying to actively kill Max. Also it was rooted in people not wanting the black man to win.
RBR are legit cheating. Going over the cost cap in the area of millions is not "we invented something others couldn't compete with and it's not within the rule set". We've seen the shit Max pulled in the last year and he never really got a penalty that mattered (Brazil Jeddah and heck even Abu Dhabi). If this is true this is massive. Also it's rooted in not wanting the racists to win.
Also funny you should bring up Ferrari. Seeing as they were literally caught cheating in 2019 and had to reduce performance in 2020 which is part of the reason people think Seb is washed and has been since his Ferrari days.

Part 2/3
Part of that understanding of adaptation has come from another source of mental strength - the bond Charles has developed with Ferrari. Just as Max Verstappen developed a close and mutually powerful bond with Red Bull over the past 9 years, so Charles has been working with Ferrari and gradually improving his ability to anticipate and adapt to whatever Ferrari might throw at him. He'd already done a lot of this work by the time he took a race start in a Ferrari (which is why the first examples of mental strength there already look pretty well-adapted), but he's juggling a lot more balls in the air at the same time while also being able to do some counterintuitive actions to cement the bond.
A possibly related aspect of Charles' mental strength is his sense of the sardonic. (I appreciate that Charles would never use that word to describe it. Please bear with me). There is a certain type of cynical, world-weary humour that leaves breathing room for the mind. Having a mode of expression and of representing one's experiences to oneself that accepts what something is without forcibly attaching the full weight of its emotional content to it, means that experience can be softened, shaped, made easier to carry. It also makes it easier to hide messaging - it's easy to keep secrets if everyone knows one cannot!
Take Abu Dhabi 2023 as an example. Keeping George Russell behind him? Expected behaviour from a F1 driver. Letting Sergio Perez through after it was clear he could not make the 5-second gap needed to stay ahead post-race? Also expected, if trickier to calculate. Openly if gently wishing the team-mate that was at risk of beating him in the drivers' championship had done better than turned out to be possible? It takes the counter-intuitive notion (to a racing driver) of putting aside one's need to defeat everyone (especially those in equal equipment) to support the team.
Charles Leclerc is a racing driver. He also has the strength to be selfless when it makes sense for him to do so, even when it would have been easy and understandable to simply not comment on his team-mate's situation (thus leaving ambiguity as to whether the driver or the team had priority in his mind at that moment).
(Bonus: Not slowing George into Sergio's path to delay things further and possibly get Sergio between George and himself? Sporting conduct plus pragmatism. Yes, if he'd pulled it off, he'd have got Ferrari its P2 in the championship. No, the consequences would not have been worth it in the long run - a reputation for dirty driving does not wash away easily, neither would it have been feasible to complete it given the respective strengths of the cars involved. Avoiding instinctive but foolish temptation is another aspect of mental strength).
The results are impressive. Back in 2021, there were members of Carlos Sainz's side of the garage who were cited by the Italian press as openly disliking Charles. There were two senior people who I shall not name, who appeared to have the same opinion but did not express this openly to the press. Many of these people have now left Ferrari, the rest seem to have withdrawn much of their overt support for Carlos over Charles, even in Spanish-language publications (which only makes sense if their respect for Carlos has decreased and/or their respect for Charles has increased. The former is possible but the ever-increasing warmth towards Charles makes more sense if the latter is the stronger factor). The bond is strong and gets harder to break with each passing year. The stronger the bond, the more Charles can lean on it in moments when he needs it (and the better he can help Ferrari and the people who work for it when they in turn needs him).
Alas, a bond built on adoration does not guarantee the car will be reliable or the strategy will be sound at any given race. What it does do, is give Charles a bigger circle of support. It also makes the place most often cited as the biggest unique source of pressure for a Ferrari driver into another area that often takes pressure away.
I’ve spoken about this in my blog a bit more but personally I’ve never seen so far a blog post regarding Charles mental strength
The insane pre-silly season silly shenanigans (LH replacing CS for 2025, how his contract renewal was leaked, etc.), the fact he’s the longest and 2nd youngest in scuderia ferrari, how the team changed so much when he’s in it, given a more leadership role, even his involvement outside of F1 (like dropping an album)— they’re all like super fucking added pressure on him BEFORE the first ever GP
Now adding the media clownery, and s*inz camp tomfoolery, technical issues, and just focusing on how to still be able to bring points for the team, even if he wasn’t able to win this GP because of the technical issue just insane mental strength
It was also interesting to hear that he could’ve easily gotten the P2 (for himself). And that his teammate was rightfully P3 material.
Add to that being a public figure, and his fans getting out of control, with people literally invading his space and even during an interview!!
Add to that like the pressure of driving for ferrari, for the tifosi, for people who believed in him, for his family, for his friends…Charles always drives for other people. But because him being competitive is first by nature.
Hopefully he has a support system behind the scenes to help him manage because just empathizing with him because I feel he’s also close to snapping at some point 🥲
(This is @monacodarling btw! Love your takes and also @tsarinablogs takes)
his mental strength needs to be studied. he also most likely has a very strong support group - his closest friends are his childhood friends from monaco and he keeps his personal team tight (joris, antoine, mia, andrea). so it definitely helps him.
but it was also said that charles is really hard on himself, fred mentioned that during his sauber year he always had tendency to blame himself for whenever a race went wrong which is a great trait for taking accountabilty for his mistakes (unlike others) but also did not help him because he spent too much time blaming himself for bad races to the point fred had to talk to him everytime to not be so hard on himself.
and with charles' mentality of "i'm only satisfied if i win and am the first", it can be a lot. but i'm sure he knows how to work through it, the way he picked himself up in the second half of the 2023 season was unbelievable. he had a good race, then something bad happened, then a good race again. he could not predict what would happen next. and yet he still remained focused.
he's a gem of a driver and i hope we see him have more happy moments in the future!

All-day, workers, write a report, shake their hands with a new client, open doors, and more with their hands. All these activities expose hands to damaging bacteria and germs. Illness is associated with loss of productivity and the annual cost to employers in the UAE. Given that 80% of all infections are hand-borne, an active program of hygiene in hands must be implemented.
Benefits Of A Hand Sanitiser Machine As Provided By Sanitizer Machine Fixing Dubai
The hand sanitizers based on spirits help prevent the spread of germs and disease-causing bacteria, particularly in busy environments such as schools and offices:
Stop germ spread: 1 in 5 people do not wash their hands daily, according to studies. Seventy percent of those who use soap doesn't. It is more likely that people use it to kill harmful bacteria by supplying hand sanitizers in critical areas (including bathrooms and kitchens).
Encouraging good hygiene and health: A productive, healthy building. An AJIC study showed that the promotion of manual sanitizers in schools reduced absenteeism by almost 20%!
How Can You Use A Hand Sanitiser?
If your hands are dirty, don't use hand sanitizers: hand sanitizers don't disinfect your face. It is intended to disinfect particles such as oil or dirt that hand sanitizers will not penetrate the skin.
Use the right quantity: less doesn't mean more for the hand sanitizer. You have to apply appropriately to cover all your hands thoroughly. Don't forget your fingers or their back!
Rub it in until your hands are dry: you can be confident that all the most essential surfaces are in contact with it.

The Taqwacores. Karachi, 2011
In the plane bathroom, I shove the book as deep as I can in the minuscule trash receptacle. The man sitting next to me made me paranoid.
Maybe you get in trouble with that, he had said.
I’m on an Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi to Karachi at 2:30am. It’s disorienting to spend two days on a plane and then arrive on an unfamiliar continent in the dead of night.
Immigration is simple. No one gives my bags a second glance. I could have packed a whole suitcase full of The Taqwacores. Or Bibles. Or drugs and weapons. (Except that no one brings drugs and weapons to Karachi, because they’re already in plentiful supply. Alcohol, that’s a different story...)
I do find it odd that so many Pakistanis are loading baggage carts with water—huge, shrink-wrapped plastic jugs. I know there are disputes with India over Indus River rights, but is the situation dire enough to bring your own water? (Soon enough, I’d see people burning tires in the street for lack of water. But that isn’t what these jugs are about.)
There’s a big white sign with my name, a car sent by the newspaper, and suddenly, there is a man. With what looks like an Uzi. (Ok, so maybe that’s just from bad action flicks, and it probably isn’t an Uzi, and possibly, it’s something Chinese. But it’s definitely something automatic. And it also looks really old.)
Gori, welcome to YOUR movie.
I step outside and the air feels like a hair-dryer blast, and then I get in the car.
The guard locks the doors, and we drive through Karachi.
It’s a jumble of food stands, smears of neon, buses like shrines. Kinda faded and gorgeous, like 70’s film. Even at 2am, everything looked sun-faded and retro.
Everyone’s in loose cotton, and the young guys have shaggy hair and drive these square-shaped vans that look like 70s Nissans. The entire ride to the guesthouse, I pretend I’m in some B-movie from pre-theocratic Iran or communist Afghanistan.
The next day, a woman named Sonia calls in to the driver’s favorite radio show.
Women should remain proper. That’s what suits them. Women with spiked heels give womenkind a bad name, she says. Then, hilariously, she requests J-Lo’s “On the Floor.”
The white sky makes everything seem drained, but Karachi tries to compensate. There are garish colors everywhere, on billboards advertising fancy, gold-lined salwar kameez made out of something called “lawn” that people are crazy for, on the women swathed in day-glow cheap cotton, their dupattas flung casually over their heads, on the mural-covered, icon-dangling jingle buses.
Makeshift villages sprout on the side of bustling roads in this city of 20 million. Cloths are strung for privacy, men wash with buckets and lounge on charpoys, entire herds of goat are tended on the dusty shoulders.
We stop at lights and beggars tap my window, women with children, or people missing limbs or sometimes children alone. Sometimes they sell strings of fragrant white jasmine, which a friend buys for me once and tells me to hang over my air conditioner and my whole bedroom will smell sweet.
On my first day at the office, I learn that the water is Zamzam. When Abraham’s infant son Ishmael cried for water and kicked at the desert ground, water gushed out. Zamzam is mineral rich and healing, and the people with jugs were bringing it back from Mecca.
I’ll also learn that the imagined portrayal of Muslim punk rockers, invented by a white dude from a racist family, who fled upstate New York to study at a Pakistani madrasa, was coveted contraband—impossible to get, the one dog-eared copy someone brought back from vacation making incessant rounds. I will regret leaving my copy in the airplane bathroom.
I met a couple from Lahore on the plane. He still had a bullet in his hip from his last visit to Karachi and no idea who’d shot him or why. He thought it was probably random street violence.
I was warned by another Pakistani, a BP employee living in Chicago, to keep my mobile close. They tap on your shoulder with a gun, you turn around, and they hold out their hand, he said.
When I volunteer this at work, everyone is like, That won’t happen, that’s never happened to me, and then one guy says sheepishly, Actually, that happened to me.
Many of my coworkers are women in their early 20’s. They wear traditional clothes and cover their heads or wear shameer’s cut so low they show cleavage, or they they wear scoop neck tees and incredibly tight jeans. Some are married, but most are not, though they seem to be biding their time till they get married. Many have been educated in the UK or the US, or at local westernized schools. All of them live with their parents or their husband’s parents.
One coworker scrolls through wire photos of the aftermath of a bazaar bombing in Khyber-Paktunkhwa, which targeted a chief and member of a Sunni political party, JUI-F, but killed 13 civilians.
The pictures are too gory to publish. He stops on a picture of a guy with a bloody hole in his face, where just a moment ago, he had an eye.
It doesn’t even register anymore, he says. It should, but it doesn’t.
I’ve been reading about the daily blasts for months, a supplement to my diet of Pakistani media, to prep me for this trip. My coworker is right. At first I was horrified. Now I just think, oh another one, but it’s far from where I’ll be.
I ask the rest of the web room staff, and they say the blasts seem far to them, too. It’s a coping mechanism. If you want to really live your life, you can’t tiptoe around, constantly paranoid about how fragile it all is.
But your life is fragile. We are all fragile, made of soft stuff that blackens and gushes, that rips and splatters as easily as over-ripe fruit. And blasts and drones and wars and poverty make life cheap.
