Who says music festivals can't happen during quarantine?

From May 22 to 24, SiriusXM Satellite Radio will host the first-ever Virtual DisDance Festival, the broadcasting company announced on its website Wednesday.

Hosted by The Chainsmokers, the event will play on SiriusXM's electronic dance music channel BPM (Ch. 51), and will include several high-profile dance music artists performing live from home.

Among the headlining performers are Afrojack, Alesso, Armin van Buuren, Deadmau5, Kaskade, Kygo, Love Regenerator (Calvin Harris), Major Lazer, Marshmello, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki and Tiësto.

The Fuckmokers are Fakes

It’s so gawd-damned aggravating when puerile poseurs beat out talented artists on so-called award shows that give them bragging rights to claim to be the “Best”. I dislike their music so much I think their fans have killed their brain cells by drinking too many aspartame-poisoned diet sodas, illegally obtained beer, tripping on molly, or whatever other ways our nation’s youth currently abuse themselves for the sake of having a good time. I even suspect the gross twosome of being frauds like they’ve got bots inflating their streams to claim top spots on the charts. I look at the one w/ the surly ugly face & actually have fleeting nano-seconds when I purely hate him! 

Then I calm myself down. These bogus award shows are nothing but Twitter Popularity Contests that have absolutely nothing to do w/ the quality of their winner’s music or performances. The shows have some truly great performances but the reason for the show is utterly meaningless. Also, the same bots that have fake accounts on Spotify could also have Twitter accounts.

OR those guys are working their asses off...

I went to their website this morning & guess what? In addition to doing Vegas once a week, these dudes are playing the full Jingle Bell Ball circuit at the lesser cities AND hitting low-end venues w/ reasonable ticket prices all across the country AND the UK, too. Three times a week they’re living The High Life in hotel rooms w/ babes, booze & buds that frat boys can envy & virtually enjoy AND their girlfriends can dream about scoring a one-night stand w/ one of these lizards. If you’ve recently attended their show & had drunken fun then hell yeah, you’re going to vote for them via Twitter. It’s too easy & why not?  

 Calvin hasn’t given a fuck about fans...

...since last year. Not being popular is his own damned fault. Hell, he hasn’t done shit to promote the best album he’s ever made! Now for us true music lovers, our next hope for seeing Calvin rewarded for his actual talent comes on 28 November when we find out if the Grammy’s are as bogus as the rest of the award shows. I don’t expect him to win anything because the Grammy’s are often another popularity contest won by going to parties w/ the voters. But he damned well ought to be recognized in the nominations, hopefully in multiple categories. 

So this is where my mind is: the Fuckmokers are gawd-awful but maybe they are legitimately earning the popularity contests. And if Calvin gets Grammy nominations, he should try to win by playing the Fame Game & give a fucking interview to get his hairy face on the cover of Rolling Stone.

Oh AND...

Have you seen Dan Wootten’s latest broadside? Someone is losing her popularity & has angered the Grammy jury. I don’t actually believe what he’s saying but the story is already being repeated on other sites. It’s another episode of “Gossip becomes Fact” to watch for its amusement value.

Calvin is not the first musical recently with deleting all the pics on IG because he starts a new Era. The Fuckmokers did that and others too

Yeah, OK. Emulating the fuckmokers doesn’t seem like something he’d do. And if he is starting a new Era, where is his new Profile pic? Why did he erase the link to his next single? I dunno.

Vegas has a lot of DJ's do you think this is what Calvin wanted or they cut his schedule for money reasons or to be able to add more DJ's and change up the roster a little for show goers? or Calvin wanted a lighter schedule to be able to do other things?

It’s hard to find info on Hakkasan Group’s finances. I found this site, which showed these paragraphs before I hit their “You Must Sign In” wall:

London-based Hakkasan Group, which runs more than 50 hospitality venues across the world, has started to stem the substantial losses it made in its last financial year, following a restructuring.

The group made several closures last year, including Hakkasan Dubai in July 2018, Yauatcha Waikiki in August 2018 and Ivory on Sunset in September 2018, after making a pre-tax loss of $42.7m (£34.2m) on revenue of $325.5m (£260.7m) in the full year to June 2018.

Alongside the restructuring, the business has also changed its accounting period from 30 June to 31 December. In its latest set of accounts for the six months to December 2018, it unveiled a $4.4m (£3.5m) pre-tax loss on revenue of $152.4m (£122m).

So, it would seem Hakkasan has not been immune to the losses experienced by other venues in Vegas. Or maybe Omnia is keeping them afloat. Until the site allows me to sign in & read the rest of the article, I dunno. Still, there’s enough here to suggest cutting back Adam’s schedule might have a financial motive. A week’s worth of lesser DJ’s can be hired for what they’ve been paying Calvin Harris for one show. 

Mark & Adam must have seen this coming & that explains their renewed interest in doing festivals. I thought he was trying to regain his Cash King Crown from the fuckmokers. But maybe, it was a move to sustain his income level for the benefit of tsz group, which largely depends upon him. And this led to making rave music to appeal to festival audiences. I dunno. These dots are easily connected but that doesn’t make them true.

Do you think Calvin went back to doing festivals because that is where the money is to be made? I know he loves making music but I know most of their money is made from touring and endorsements. I often wonder how much of an artists money really comes from their music. That article about what artists will do to get a number 1 made me think why even go through all that trouble if they don’t make much returns? I know new artists reasons they want to establish their name but others like Bieber?

Answering last questions first: Bieber needs to stay relevant by having a hit every 6 months or so. Before an artist has a devoted fan base, having songs in the Top 10 is how they attract people to their shows. Yes, more money is made these days from shows & selling merchandise than from music sales. 

As the Richest DJ in the world, Calvin doesn’t really need more money. But maybe he was bothered by the fuckmokers getting the Forbes’ Cash King Crown & wanted to show how easily he could get it back. I don’t think that was his main reason for touring but it could be a side benefit. I believe his main reason was reconnecting w/ his fans & the thrill of watching massive audiences react to his music.

Events to Anticipate

10 Feb   Vanity Fair Grammy After-Party It would mean a lot to my weary old heart if Calika became Red Carpet Official. I’m gonna hope but won’t be disappointed if my dreams don’t come true. 

14 Feb   Valentine’s Day What can Calvin possibly do to top last year’s massive flower basket? Will they go out for a romantic dinner & allow themselves to be papped holding hands?

20 Feb   Brit Awards — Epic Performance Best British Single – One Kiss Best Music Video – One Kiss British Producer of the Year – TBC Global Success Award - TBC This could be one of the greatest nights in Calvin’s career. His performance w/ Dua Lipa, Sam Smith & RagNBoneMan will either open or close down the show. He damn well ought to get a trophy this year... or two. He deserves it & the recognition of his talent is long past due. And why shouldn’t he want Aarika beside him at the banquet table? Emil is surely going & I doubt he will leave Cristina & Julien at home. They can get a sitter at the hotel for their babies.  

14 Mar    iHeartRadio Awards Best Video – One Kiss Dance Artist of the Year I honestly don’t know if Calvin will risk seeing the fuckmokers or mellowhead beat him. Upon reflection, I’m revising my opinion. After doing the Jingle Balls to boost his relationships w/ US radio hosts, Calvin should show up for these 2 nominations.

Today it was full of Arianators upset about her album not claiming the Top Ten entirely. I don’t know why anyone feels the need to drag others. I would never go to a thread about someone’s else success & crow, “Calvin is better.” Not even the fuckmokers���I keep my bad opinion of them on my blog.

Btw one of the Fuckmokers ( I think it was Drew ) commented under his most played Scottish post on Sunday. I mean a lot of people are very obsessed with Calvin, but they are hardcore obsessed

I’ll never get over being outraged when one of them claimed in a Rolling Stone interview they "basically brain-raped" fellow superstar producer Calvin Harris (by "asking him all these questions"). They sure didn’t learn shit about making good music but then that takes real talent.

I looked at the lists of Dance artists nominated and I am going out on a limb and predicting The Chainsmokers will win it. I hate myself for saying that but I think it’s going to happen sadly. I can’t believe that awful song they did with Cold Play is nominated so much. Yes, I know how it works but it just proves to me I am to old to understand today’s taste in music. I don’t know if Calvin will go or not but my hopes of him winning are slim to none. Still my fave Dance artist MyWay

I think the fuckmokers won last year & I was as appalled as I will be this year if they win again. Calvin has gone to 3 high-profile events so far this year w/o a chance of winning anything. It appears he’s rejuvenating his image in preparation for... who knows what. So he might attend because iHeart Radio has 448 stations & he wants their goodwill to promote whatever he’s releasing next. Also, I have the unfounded opinion their award show is rigged & he could win just for showing up. HA!

Now I’ll talk about the elephant in the room: My Calvin Harris Google News Alert informed me Joe has finally done his pap walk in the woods w/ Taylor. She has a special relationship w/ iHeart & just might show up on their red carpet w/ her new boyfriend. W/ five nominations, she will surely win 1 or all of them. If that happens, she will shamelessly gush out her thanks to her new “amazing boyfriend” & remind all of us how she did the same for Calvin 2 years ago—less than a month before she jumped into a “getaway car”. 

So most of my anons expect the possibility of being at the same event w/ Taylor to keep Calvin at home. But, ya’know his name is going to be under the photos of the happy couple so he might as well show up & get his handsome self up there w/ them. Oh gawd, the gossip mags & tabs would go ape-shit w/ joy! His haters would say he’s using her to enhance his fame but, dammit, when in the last two years has his name not been in articles about her?! He ought to use the association to his advantage for a change. AND if the iHeart Radio Awards Show wants the largest viewing audience they’ve ever had, sometime today they’ll announce the dramatic news they’re both attending! They could end their feud like Rita & Calvin did at the Brits!

HA! I’m not expecting all of that to happen but, ya’know let’s wait & see...

Honestly, what is EDM after the fuckmokers have written generic pop songs & thrown in an interlude of electronic noises to qualify as DJ’s? On the EDM-centric sites when I see FWBv1 ranked #5 or #10 on their year-end best albums is that for old-times’ sake? To my ear, FWBv1 fairly belongs in the Rap/Hip Hop category—just look at the features! Over on Twitter, @calvinnation is “nervous” about Calvin returning to EDM, which suggests he left & I personally don’t think he’s gonna go backwards. When I think of EDM, it sounds like this...

But what do I know? I’m just an old lady. I’m asking my readers to tell me what you think. I’d like to see some substance in my Inbox. My questions are:

It’s End of The Year List Time & this morning there are two more. I’m not going to get upset about the fuckmokers (at least not much) or anyone else being placed higher. What matters is Slide & Feels are on all of the lists.
