Other possible names for Frostpaw could be Frostmist or Frostreed bc they got murdered. Well one of them did for sure. Maybe Frostfoot bc that was Mistystar's warrior suffix or Frostwhisker bc Reedwhisker

I like these! She probably wouldn’t be called Frostmist just because of her sister Mistpaw, but if Mistpaw gets killed then I can definitely see that being her name.

So Lynx, what do you think about the newest protagonists?

Squirrelflight’s character in this book frustrates me but I’d like to hear your thoughts.

I like these three! Flamepaw's fine, even if one could argue his arc should've been given to Sparkpelt, Sunbeam's fine, even if she feels a little underdeveloped to me, and Frostpaw's fine, even if she suffers from camera syndrome. My further thoughts are as follows:

I find the fandom's hatred of Flamepaw… odd. Like, yeah, he's broody and angry, but I get where he's coming from. I'm rather amused that all the tortoiseshell flamepaw designs got practically nuked with his constant "I am not Firestar" mantra. Other than refusing his warrior name, I don't see how his path will contribute to the overall plot. Also, watching him fail over and over and over was rather boring. Extremely frustrating that second time.

Sunbeam's at least got the most character dynamics I think. Sure, we're not getting into how Hopwhisker and Flaxfoot feel about being sired by a rogue, don't really get into how Grassheart feels about her kittens growing up in such a climate, or even see what Sunbeam's father Sparrowtail or other brother Hollowspring think about Spireclaw's secret romance, but it's at least something. I'd chock it up to Warriors being a middle grade series and not having the page time to devote to all the side characters. (Man, just imagine how better Warriors would be if it were just an adult novel series from the get-go, with all the pagetime of a Brandon Sanderson novel to devote to all the characters...)

Sunbeam herself is nice, I like her. I hope she and Blazefire and Lightleap can figure things out together. Also good to see someone treating Shadowsight nicely for once.

Frostpaw… definitely suffers from camera syndrome the worst. I can't tell you anything about her personality other than "excited apprentice". She's good at the spiritual side of her job (although compared to her predecessor, that's not a high bar to clear), she wants what's best for her clan... I'm more invested in her story from a plot perspective than a character one. I really hope that the trauma of witnessing what she did at the end of the book will actually give her something resembling a personality. As for her full medicine cat name, I'm hoping for Frostface or Frostmask to help allude to that pointed design the official site gave her. Frostfeather, Frostsong, and Frostlight are pretty, and as much as I'd hate her to be named Frostmist after Mistystar, it's admittedly a pretty name.

And yeah, Squirrelflight was a little odd in this. The thing with Windclan makes enough sense if you remember this is Warriors, but her reaction at the naming ceremony and especially the second assessment was just. Odd. It's been forever since I've read TNP, but I don't recall her being that much of a stick-in-the-mud.

Lesbians? At Night!?

GrayFrostmist and Squirrelflight meet for a not so secret date. The design of Squirrelflight belongs to @prettyliteralwarriors and the emo Frostmist is of my own making. My headcannon is that they meet every half moon to exchange gifts and stories. Once they decide to have a family Frostmist moves to Thunderclan to help raise their babies. Sneezecloud and Mallownose miss her a little but they love their thunderclan siblings.

The View

Powerful legs and a good set of wings work well for getting up trees. Unfortunately Frostmist had neither of those. "C'mon Squilf, you're really gonna make me climb a tree to get to you" cold mist swirls around her paws as the gray tabby looks up at her mate with annoyance.

"C'mmoonnn, I know you can do it!" There is amusement in Squirrelflight's voice as she cheers on the cat below. Frost' was just cute when she gets annoyed like this.

The RiverClan cat looks around. She could just leave. Just walk back to camp. But Squirrelflight had said she wanted to show her something... She takes a moment to think before sighing. Fine. She'll climb up.

The RiverClan cat crouches before jumping onto the tree. She clumsily scrambles up the trunk, trying to ignore the amount of mistakes she's making. When she gets to a branch she uses that to get the rest of the way up. With the help of her mate she pulls herself onto the high up branch.

Squirrelflight smiles and rubs her cheek against Frostmist's while she's bent down. "See? That wasn't so hard."

"Oh be quiet" Frostmist rolls her eyes. Shes trying to seem annoyed but her smile makes that hard.

The mist for which she's named keeps to the opposite side of the red molly, not wanting to make her cold on an already somewhat chilly night. There a silence for a moment, a comfortable silence. In that time Frost looks at her beautiful mate, framed by the moonlight, looking content as ever. She feels compelled to say something about it.

"I love the view" ... Shit. She meant to say 'I love you.' Internally the gray tabby screams. Damnit how did she mess that up!?

"I love the view too! That's why I brought you up here!" Squirrelflight has a big grin on her face, a bit oblivious to her partner's inner turmoil. "It's gorgeous... Just like you" she gives a wink and a little laugh.

This breaks the RiverClan cat out from her internal dialogue and puts her right into being a bit flustered. "Oh I uh... Thanks. Same here. I mean same thought!" She never has been the best with words of affection but this!? Ugh!

All the ThunderClan cat does is laugh just a little at the fumbling and lean against her partner. Okay maybe she didn't mess up that bad. Maybe she can just... Enjoy the view.

So that's what Frostmist does. She enjoys the view while sitting right next to the love of her life.
