Now let’s do Sora.
Sora Shiun’in is spelled as 紫雲院 素良. Shiun’in Sora.
ç´Ť, shi, means murasaki, but refers to color purple. Much like in Lunalight Purple Butterfly, this color refers to Purple Poison Magician, and Odd-Eyes Venom Dragon (Japanese name: Supreme King Purple Dragon - Odd-Eyes Venom Dragon), and refers to Fusion. For other meanings, check here.
It is also sounds like shi, death, alluding to Death-Toys/Frightfurs, but also specifically to Yami Bakura’s earthbound spirit focused Occult Deck. This is also partially why Fluffals are EARTH Attribute (since shi is similar to chi, EARTH), despite Sora’s name more closely alluding to sky.
雲, un, means cloud, but colloquially can mean heavens, or a high status person. For more meanings, see.
The Kanji can also be spelled as kumo, which is a Yuma Tsukumo allusion, which suggests to me that Sora was originally intended to learn Xyz Summoning some time in the future, but alas.
院, in, is the same as Tenjoin siblings’ surname. It means institution, but here it likely means temple.
I don’t think I need to point out the significance of this.
紫雲, shiun, purple cloud, might also be an allusion to Shien of the Six Samurai (his name means Purple Flame). But Shiun’in means Purple Cloud Temple.
ç´ , so, means basic, plain. But in cooking, it can mean essence as in flavouring/seasoning, and in mathematics it can mean prime.
良, ra, means good, but in school marking it means B. This Kanji can also be read as Ryou, as in Ryou Bakura, or Ryou Marufuji. The first allusion is the more intended one, most likely.
So his name means Purple Cloud Temple Plain Good.
Other notes:
**Sora can collectively mean sky, as every Kingdom Hearts fan knows. This ties into his un Kanji.
***It is unclear if this is for Tenjoin siblings allusion, Fluffal allusion, or En Moon allusion.
***It MIGHT because of Shun’s name (meaning falcon), and Edo’s surname, phoenix.
**素, so, kanji is used in some botany terms as a compound, but is also similar to music playing Kanji in Melodious. This, combined with the shi Kanji, gives a strong allusion to En Flowers, similar to Gongenzaka’s, and Sawatari’s names.
***Music playing allusion here is for his marching band theming, which is a reference to Martin Kanou, and Head Teacher Napoleon from GX.
***Same marching band theming is also used for Yuma’s Djinns. Another Xyz allusion.

FRIGHTFUR MARCH
When an opponent's Spell/Trap Card, or monster effect, is activated that targets a "Frightfur" monster(s) you control: Negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card, then you can send 1 of the targeted "Frightfur" monsters to the Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon 1 Level 8 or higher "Frightfur" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck. (This Special Summon is treated as a Fusion Summon.) During your next End Phase, banish the monster Special Summoned by this effect.

Fluffal Patchwork ———————————————— This card is treated as a "Frightfur" monster while on the field. This face-up monster on the field can be used as a substitute for any 1 Fusion Material whose name is specifically listed on a "Frightfur" Fusion Monster Card, but the other Fusion Material(s) must be correct. ———————————————— Can Be Found In: V Jump Fall 2016 (VJMP-JP119)
A Fluffal Deck consists in three groups of monsters working together to achieve their Fusion Summons. Fluffals and Edge Imps reside the Main Deck with abilities to setup their cards and summons, leading to the arrival of a variety of Frightfurs with powerful offensive abilities to finish off the opponent. While the arrival of the Extra Monster Zone affected their performance, is still a powerful Deck with high OTK potential and able to keep a stable momentum after each Fusion Summon.
"Fluffal Patchwork" becomes a wild card for an archetype all about gathering materials for their Fusion Summons. "Patchwork" is treated as a Frightfur while on the board, something that might not seem that efficient at first but can actually create some shortcuts arround expensive setups. This is specially the case with its second ability, as while on the field "Patchwork" can become a replacement for a listed material on a Frightfur Fusion Monster (The other materials must be the proper ones). Overall nothing different to many other Fusion replacements we can find in the card game, but as part of the archetype "Fluffal Patchwork" gains small yet important benefits to have an important role in some of the most important Fusion Summons.
While its poor stats makes "Patchwork" greatly supported by off-theme cards, the archetype provides more than enough options to make its avialability assured during any turn. The summon of "Fluffal Dog" will suffice to look for any Fluffal or Edge Imp inside our Deck, while achieving the same result by sending "Toy Vendor" to the Graveyard (No matter if was destroyed or disposed by an effect like "Fluffal Wings"). Since the effects of "Patchwork" requires for it to be on the field, cards like the mentioned "Toy Vendor" and others such as "Fluffal Penguin" will provide us a Special Summon to bring it from our hand. Soon or later "Patchwork" will end in our Graveyard as becomes a material for our summons, so if is not revived by cards like "Suture Rebirth" and ""Designer Frightfur" it will be brought back to our hand by efects like "Fluffal Octopus" and "fluffal Rabbit".
Obviously, the primary goal of "Fluffal Patchwork" is to work as material for most of our Fusion Summons. While that is not that different compared to other Fluffals since many Frightfurs have vague requeriments, it offers a few yet important liberties to shortcut some of our summons. As a Frightfur while on the field, "Patchwork" along copies of itself and/or other Frightfurs it can shortcut the arrival of "Frightfur Chimera". Otherwise, since already has a replacement ability anyways, it can take over the role of Edge Imps as the main material for most of our Fusion Summons. While might seem that its role as Frightfur isn't that outstanding, is can still become valuable as we counter opponent actions with "Frightfur March" while also giving us a shortcut to summon a Frightfur inside our Extra Deck.
As a monster with substitute abilities "Fluffal Patchwork" might seem a solid choice to work as material for our Fusion Summons, specially if arrives to our field to obtain further options. Unfortunately "Patchwork" is severely overshadowed by many stronger alternatives the archetype offers, as their immense card pool to achieve any Fusion Summon required at the moment along the help of "King of the Swamp" as either a replacement or a searcher card makes the uses arround "Patchwork" not that outstanding in comparison. While has a good opportunity to take over Edge Imps and Frightfurs as the main Fusion material, "Patchwork" is a weak choice when compared to alternatives able to achieve the same purpose(s) from the hand or even Graveyard.
Personal Rating: B
+ Is treated as a Frightfur while on the field + Can replace a listed material on a Frightfur Fusion Monster while on the field + Well supported
- Limited effects specially when compared to other substitute materials - The archetype already provides plenty of options to not rely on this monster

Themed-Day: A Decade of FYYCA
Today marks the 10-year anniversary of FYYCA (Again, for a perspective on how long ago in this card game that was ago...Mermails were released one month later). As with prior years, here’s an overview of the past year’s posts, with the top three posts (in descending order) of each respective month:
October:  The King of D., Sentence of Doom, Vampire Fraulein
November:  Speedroid Ultra Hound, Gizmek Taniguku, the Immobile Intellect, Link Party
December: Magician’s Salvation, Monster Reborn Reborn, Gunkan Suship Ikura
January: Time Wizard of Tomorrow, Egyptian God Slime, Fengli the Soldrapom
February: Appliancer Laundry Dragon, Tour Guide From the Underworld (alternate art), Frightfur Tiger
March: The First Darklord, Number C1000: Numerounius, Vampire Voivode
April: Leafplace Plaice, Earthbound Geoglyph, Zoodiac Bunnyblast
May: Illusion of Chaos, Predplant Verte Anaconda, Melffy Mommy
June: The Weather Painter Moonbow, Wynn the Wind Channeler, Floowandereeze and the Dreaming Town
July: Magicians’ Souls, Cross-Sheep, Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon
August: Spright Blue, Paces, Light of the Ghoti,  Gunkan Suship Ikura-class Dreadnought
September: Mokey Mokey Adrift,  Ariane the Labrynth Servant, Toon Harpie Lady
Speedroid Ultra Hound took the top spot for the preceding year. However, the top three spots all-time (in terms of note count) remain the same: Change of Heart, Toon World, and Dark Magician Girl (this art), respectively (and Change of Heart just passed 40K yesterday).
I wavered quite a bit on what cards to post for this, but Past, Present, and Future seemed like a good theme for the decade of doing this. With that in mind, the three cards posted will feature one card from the distant past (with a new art), a card from the most recent TCG main set release, and a card that fits with the Future idea.
I say it each year and I’ll say it once again: Thanks to all whom have been here and enjoyed this blog for these ten years so far. Keep an eye out, as hopefully sometime in November/early December (once re-licensing is complete), we will finally have a give-away after a long while since the last one. And there may be a few other surprises around the corner into the new year...
Hope you all enjoy today’s posts and have a great rest of your day.
