Blessing Charm! [N:TWEwY/Neo Zeta Earth]

“Say, isn't that Fret over there?” Shoka asks, looking at where Fret was standing by at 104 buildings. Making Nagi turn to see that Fret was chatting with some reddish pink hair woman by said building.

Fret was chatting away with the woman in question, who was looking amused. From the look of it, she was wearing all Getto Nero, top to bottom. The Denim Cap, Off-the-Shoulder Top, Denim Micro-Miniskirt, Mid-Calf Boots, even a Hip Pack and Fishnet Socks.

“It would seem that he is working his charm with another fair maiden.” Nagi said.

“So typical.” Shoka said.

“What do we say that we greet him before he makes a jester out of himself?” Nagi asks.

“Oh come now, isn’t this meant to be us girls, we meant to meet up with Shiki and Rhyme, let him make a fool out of himself.” Shoka said.

However, Nagi was already moving toward the ten-four building with Shoka calling to wait up. She came toward him to their visceral sight, Fret was the turn to see her. The woman turned her head to look at the small woman.

“Greeting Lord Tosai, I hope that I am not intruding with this fine madden here.” Nagi said to Fret.

“Hey there Boss, didn’t think to see you today.” Fret said, looking really red on the face. “I was just chatting with this woman here. She is really sweet and friendly.”

“Yeah, he just wants to chat with me.” The woman said then she turned toward Fret and pointed to Nagi “I take it she is a friend of yours?”

“Kind of. She is more of an acquaintance of mind.” Fret said.

“Acquaintance? Tis what ye think of me Lore Tosai?” Nagi said “Twe know that ye and I are more than just acquaintances! Do not lie to me!”

“I’m sorry but who are you, I may ask?” The woman asked.

“Tis name is Nagi Usui.” Nagi said, with Shoka walking in, catching up to her. “And this feline here is Shoka Sakura…em…ba.” “Hey.” She waved to them. “And who may you be?” Nagi asks her.

“Oh it Erica Kanjishii. Call me Eri.” The Woman said. “And I've been told about you guys, Part of the Wicked Twisters group, Right?”

“Wait, Erica?” Shoka said, moving between Nagi and the woman. “As in one of the founders of Gatto Nero, Erica Kanjishii?!”

“Yep that the one.” She said and looked toward, her hand on her hips. “I gotta say you're really rocking with that hoodie girl. Shiki told me that you a big fan of our brand.”

“T-Thank you!” She gleefully said “And yeah I really am a huge fan of Gatto Nero. I’d be nothing without it now, And I was thinking that I could work for you at some time now.”

“Aww, that is so sweet of you.” She said, giving Shoka a pat on the head. With Nagi seeing Shoka getting so red and trying to hide herself in the hood.

“Oh! And I’ve heard of you, aren’t you an expert on Elegant Strategy?” She asks Nagi.

“Indeed I am.” She pushes up her glasses, fogging up. “Take it you’ve played the Game yourself, Lady Erica?”

"Mostly in my off time.” Eri said “And no need to be formal with me Miss, Just Eri is fine.”

“And…” Fret said, making them pay attention to him. “You heard of me right? Tosai Furesawa, Known as Fret.”

“Oh yeah, My boyfriend told me about you.” Eri said. “B-Boyfriend?!” Fret said in shock.

“Oh didn’t Daisu tell you about me?” She asked. “I would have thought he would mention me to you guys.”

“Daisu? You mean Worms-for-Brains?” Shoka asked. “I’m Sorry but what-for-brains?” Eri asks back.

“I believed she was referring to Daisukenojo Bito, known as Beat by others.” Nagi said to Eri.

“Oh right, I forget that he likes to be called Beat.” Eri said, making a light laugh.

“But yeah me and him are dating.” Eri said.

“…I think I’m gonna be sick….” Shoka mutters.

“Tis was not aware that Lord Beat had already been committed.” Nagi ponders.

“From his sister and now you, what else do I not know about him.” Fret asks himself.

“Yeah.” Eri said. “What with my work and his stacking, we really don’t have time to show our affection out in the open.”

“Can’t blame you for thinking I was a single woman.” Eri said toward Fret. “No worry.” He repaid back.

“Then again, we aren’t as passionate as say Shiki and Neku.” Eri said, “Those two have been dating for three years now, y'know.”

“Really?!” The Three ask. “Oh yeah, they did all the dating stuff that they could do. The two really hit it off.”

“But how can that be? Wasn’t Neku gone for—” Fret was about to ask.

“Say Eri, have you heard of this Game known as ‘The Reaper Game’ by any changes?” Shoka asks, interrupting Fret.

“The... Reaper Game?” Eri said, pondering. “C-Can’t say that I do. Why... is it an Augmented reality game like FantasyGO?”

“Tis can be said.” Nagi mutters.

“Yeah, it's one hell of a game.” Fret said.

“Just making sure. Thanks.” Shoka said.

“Em… Look I love to say and chat.” She said, both of hand point to the 104 building. “But I had a staff meeting and don’t want to be late. I see you guys soon.” As she heads off the building.

It was just three alone. “Man Shokie, why do you have to mention the Game?” Fret said.

“And what? Let you spill the beans that she could have an alternate memory?!” She yelled back “I had to make sure if she was a player or not!”

“Tis beside the point, what was your approach to Lady Erica?” Nagi asks, pointing toward him.

“W-What? I wasn’t trying to hit on her, Boss.” Fret said Nagi wasn’t convinced and Fret soon knew that.

“I mean, give a guy a break, she’s beautiful, how can I not?” Fret said.

“And she was clearly taken.” Shoka told her. “To Worm-for-Brains, no less.”

“Indeed, tif we did not come in, you would make you into a jester once more.” Nagi said.

“Guess that was a close call.” Fret said then breathed in “Man, I thought she would be the one.”

“Like you had with Kanon?” Shoka said. Fret said nothing, just breath in and out.

“Lord Tosai, it seems you have not overcome yourself with your grief.” Nagi said.

“Yeah, I’m aware Boss.” Fret said “It isn’t that easy to get over the one that you had feelings for.”

“Then perhaps, I could offer you personal support, Lord Tosai.” Nagi suggested.

“Wait, what are you saying that you…?” Shoka said, but Nagi shut her up with her finger to her lips.

“I had planned to venture to EleStra con for the next week.” Nagi said “It would be nice if you accompany me. Tis will be my 1st time venturing and…”

“Say no more Boss!” Fret said “I was planning on coming there myself, It would be nice to go out with you.”

“Sadly I wouldn’t be coming.” Shoka said “Promise Rindo that we will be heading to FantasyCon with him next week.”

“Tis okay Lady Shoka.” Nagi said.

“Better to be with him then with us, am I right?” Fret said.

“Sure.” She mutters, side glances, and faces red.

“Tis being said, we are about to meet up with Lady Shiki and Lady Raimu.” Nagi said.

“Yeah, you wanna come?” Shoka asked him.

“Eh. Got nothing else to do, why not?” Fret said “Besides, I can tell Shiki that I met her friend.”

“Best keep out the part that tries to flirt with her.” Shoka said, starting to head off.

“Hey, I wasn’t gonna!” Fret yelp out. As he followed suit with them.

You really think NAGI would be frustrated with someone for "placing feelings in hard to reach places"? Nagi "projects a joseimuke character onto SHO MINAMIMOTO of all people and treats him accordingly" Usui? I have no opinion on FretNagi but that take seems a little off to me.

I mean... kinda? I don't really see the correlation between those two things, but...

Like, one of my favourite things about Nagi as a character is that she is so unapologetically and unabashedly Nagi. She goes ham on her video game crush, she rants endlessly about her interests, she uses long formal words so regularly like she's trying to become a Shakespeare character, she never once frets about offending people by being blunt with them when they're annoying her and she's open about her difficulty at handling even relatively minor social situations.

To get more specific, when we encountered a guy who was struggling to deal with comments about his high-pitched voice, Nagi favoured owning his unique traits and accepting who/what he is/has. She was opposed to him just denying and brushing off the comments as though they don't matter. When Rindo and Fret were a bit tense earlier, she was uncomfortable and lightly tried to prompt reconciliation between them. And even right now, she steps in to correct Fret when he tries to deflect, prodding him to open up about what his feelings really are.

I'd say one of Nagi's core values is honesty, especially honesty to one's self. However you read her friendship with Fret, she cares about him one way or the other and yeah, I think bearing all that in mind, I would personally agree with the previous anon that her words to him here is her trying to get him to reframe his point of view and stop being so dishonest about things.

Of all the ways you can describe Nagi, I wouldn't say hiding her feelings is one of them, with the odd exception because, like, we all need privacy. Her emotions are typically right there on her sleeve and her philosophies tend to line up with that.
