OK OK hear me out though:

 

Freddy can make fire and control it. But more than that fire is always hungry to burn more, and it always tells him where to set his explosive for the best effect. Alvarez is good at what he does because there is nothing like the pleasing feeling he gets when a fire burns bright and strong.

 

Haysay is blessed by the sea as they say, he cannot die while on the sea/ocean. The sea recognizes him as her own and won’t let harm come to him. He will always find fish, he will never get lost, he will never drown. Beware attacking him, hurting him while on the sea, she is treacherous, her depth never ending and won’t let you go easy.

 

Lassen can turn into a bear, ferocious and wild with teeth strong enough to pierce any skin and claw big enough to cut arms in a single strike. Play dead, they say, play dead. But Lassen is a also a man and he can tell so don’t look so surprised that his teeth clamped around your head and bring you to death.

 

Apple can see glimpse of future, can see if his plan will be a success or not. He can tell upon meeting someone if they will be important to him or not, if they’ll break his heart. But choose to stay anyway. He also dabbles in magic, healing and communication mostly because once you are part of the group, he’d rather you stay.

 

Marjorie is beautiful and clever and has a voice like the siren of the story, charming people and making them do anything she wants. And with a smile and a wink they forget and forgive, she wears her beauty like an armor and know that she has yet to meet a man that can resist her. When she wants somethings, she will have it. Be it a pretty bauble or a head on a platter.

 

Heron has always an airtight alibi. Why, you say you saw Heron next to the electrical plant yesterday? Impossible he was at his bar entertaining the colonel. You think you saw him talking to pirate last week? You saw wrong, he was meeting this rich couple from the America. It’s easy to be a spy when you can be two whenever you need.

 

Gus had no power, but ancient blood sing though his veins attracting all kind of strange people to him. He accepts and welcome them with open arm, a grin and a nice bottle. He always knows what to say and do to have people’s loyalty. And that is kinda a power in its own isn’t it ?

Day 1: Smoke

Freddy did not bring cigarettes onto the Maid Honour. If asked, he has many reasons for this. His bag was full of demolition equipment, there was no room after his beret went in the bag (yes, actually, Haysey nearly fell for it for a few moments), pretty much anything except the truth.

He forgot them.

He only has one solution for this. Steal them.

A few things to note. First, he is on a boat with 2 people who work in Intelligence, so they knew immediately when Freddy took their cigarettes. This is not to say that he couldn’t take their cigarettes. No, Gus and Apple just watched him silently as he did it, an eyebrow raised but otherwise allowing it to happen. Second, the singular time that Haysey wasn’t on the lookout for pickpocketing was when he was checking the map. Freddy has tried to pickpocket him at the wheel, at the rigging, even when the man is asleep. Haysey catches him every single time. The only time that Freddy can take his cigarettes is when he’s checking the map.

Finally, Lassen knows when he’s coming for cigarettes. He’s barely made it within 6 feet of the man when Lassen is offering him a cigarette, or a drag of his own. It’s almost supernatural how the other man senses that he’s coming, and has a smoke ready to offer.

M doesn’t take any of Gus’s bullshit however and carries on, arching one grey eyebrow in a perfectly disapproving manner. 

“Yes you do March-Phillipps.Your last medic got shot on duty and your current acting medic is recovering from a gunshot wound to the ribs.” M’s voice is so matter of fact it stuns Gus into silence, opting to glower across the desk at his superior instead. “Hayes is a skilled medic who can work under extreme pressure when it counts. He comes highly recommended and we’re confident he can fit into the unit rather well.”

M cuts Gus off before he can say anything, “and I’m not taking no for an answer, Major.”
