I'M SO EXCITED THAT I CAN FINALLY START POSTING THIS ONE!!! It's the first of the prompt fics I started writing way back in July, and this one is for the fantastic @skyfallscotland. I was so thrilled when she suggested it so finally being able to get something out into the world has me so excited. I hope everyone enjoys the first chapter - the second chapter is already well over halfway written!

Summary:

In which Xaden Riorson, hotshot TOPGUN graduate with a penchant for dangerous flight maneuvers, is ordered to report back to North Island to teach at the storied aviation training school that he's done everything to avoid. But the night before he reports to his new duty station, a certain bartender catches his eye.

"It is, but my sister-" he grumbles, but he's interrupted by someone quite literally vaulting themselves over the countertop at the end closest to the wall, not even bothering to lift the removable bar top. Brennan looks over at the same time I do, and the sigh that erupts from his mouth is one of the kind of frustration unique to sibling relationships. "-Is late," he finishes with a pointed look at the tiny woman who just took up the spot next to him. When she steps into the light, she just about takes my breath away, because holy hell is she gorgeous.

"Sorry," the woman says with a shrug, not sounding sorry at all. The bright light that illuminates the bar area makes the silver tips of her braid glint. "Got held up. What do you need me to do?"

"Preferably I would like you to not jump over the counter-"

"-Which will never happen-"

"-But I know anything I say will fall on deaf ears, so go take their orders." Brennan gestures vaguely in the direction of some uniforms that shoved their way to the front of the bar while Brennan was talking to us.

She rolls her eyes, but doesn't argue, plucking a ratty server's book from the bar top as she makes her way over to the waiting customers. It's an effort to tear my eyes from her retreating figure.

Brennan sighs again, one hand reaching up to massage his shoulder.

"Your sister?" I ask, as if the answer wasn't already fucking obvious.

Happy WIP Wednesday!

a variety of WIPs today: each number is a different fic i've been working on

1.

“Xaden,” she says, suddenly urgent, because he’s making sense. He’s making too much sense. The impulse is always there, to tell him things just because she loves him. She wants to be talking to him all the time, and she wants him to know every part of her, every inch, every curve and bend, and stay. She wants him to see what she’s hiding and she wants him to stay.  She needs him to stay more than she wants him to know.

Violet still can barely see the inside of the cave, with the water on her goggles, so she hears his voice before she sees him.  “I didn’t know we were having company.”  She flings her goggles from her face with such haste, they fly from her hand, then smash into the cave wall, glass shattering.  “Well,” he notes, “someone’s a bit violent, aren’t they?”

“Oh…” Ridoc says, slowly, “This is about your mom.”  “This,” Violet declares, “is about an abuse of taxpayer dollars. Ridoc, how do you, as a taxpayer, feel about my mother wasting the money of hard working Americans to make this guy follow me around?”  Xaden looks at Ridoc with thinly veiled suspicion. Maybe he doesn’t believe Ridoc is a taxpayer. Violet wouldn’t blame him.

He walks faster, taking the stairs two at a time. Violet’s raised her shields, which also cannot be good. He prods at them, not hard, but just enough to demonstrate that he is prodding. He would like to speak to his wife.  She drops them an inch. “I want to talk about it in person, Xaden, and I can’t keep it in, otherwise.”  She raises them, right back up, and he tries not to let himself sink. It’s fine, probably. She just wants to talk to him about something upsetting, but they’ve been through upsetting things before. They’ve won wars, and they freed his country, so they can do this. Unquestionably, they can do this. Whatever this may be.  And she wants his help. That has to count for something. When she needs something, she calls for him.

BRIEF CHARACTER SUMMARY — harley & ivy’s adopted kid . parents murdered by the joker in front of her did serious damage to morgan .

after the incident , she got some weird abilities (fourth wall breaking) she couldn’t explain and practically made harley quinn to take her in and help her get back to the joker .
