Stuck Inside From the Rain
⥠Genre: Fluff ⥠Pairing: Bakugou x Reader ⥠Tags: Aged up (This was supposed to be short u-u)
You couldn't go home, not in this weather.
You had only planned to drop off a video game you borrowed from Bakugou, but the rain had hit so suddenly that there was no way you were going anywhere now.
What's worse, it was getting pretty dark out. At least Bakugou had a nice couch to sleep on...
"Oi!" Bakugou called out from the kitchen. "Dinner's ready!"
Bakugou had fetched some extra ingredients so he could make food for the both of you. You both sat down at his dinner table, with your grilled chicken and peppers in front of you.
"Thank you so, so much for doing this, bestie!" you said. "I think this is the first time we've eaten together in your new home."
"That's not my fault. I invited you over last week. But you were busy with Kirishima..."
You scoffed at how he chewed his food angrily. "He's just a friend, Bakugou. I actually totally forgot about that until now. Are you jealous?"
"Why would I be jealous of some guy with shitty hair?! He's got nothing on me!"
"Then don't bring him up?"
"Don't go blowing me off for Kirishima and then I won't bring him up! How about that?"
"I'll be sure to give you all the attention you want this time, okay?"
Bakugou looked frustrated, but a bit pleased. "You better."
True to your words, you ranted and raved to Bakugou about the food, as always. Bakugou knew that if there was one way to get you to focus on him, it was through his cooking. He looked cocky as you basically monologued to him about your 5-star Yelp review of his food. He offered you the rest to take home as leftovers, because unlike that traitorous rat Kirishima, he found himself to be a considerate and compassionate soul who would never let you starve.
You wanted to help with the dishes, but Bakugou wouldn't let you lift a finger to do chores. The guy was treating you like a guest he personally invited, but you felt a little bit like a burden who invaded his evening out of nowhere (even though you knew he wanted you here).
The night grew colder as it went on, and you could tell even Bakugou was starting to get affected. You attached yourself to his side to warm him up, holding onto him because you knew he hated the cold. He let himself get a little lost in that moment, which was easy to do since nobody was here except for you.
"You're such a koala," he said. "How long are you gonna steal my arm for?"
"Bakugou, if you keep complaining I'm gonna let go."
"Fine, fine! Just walk a little faster with me, I need to get something from the living room."
Bakugou wanted to watch a movie with you, but first he fetched an extra blanket, hoping to drape it over the two of you while you sat on the couch.
"You didn't get your own blanket?" you asked.
"This was all I had! Don't hog the stuff, alright?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be a burden. I'm just cold..."
"You're not a burden. Just get over here so we can share it. Properly."
He drags the blanket around both of your shoulders, bringing you two hip-to-hip.
"It's like we're kids again, huh?" you laughed. "If you had extra pillows, I would've made us a pillow fort."
"I'm too big for that and you know it. It'd just fall over."
"You're no fun. Did anyone ever tell you that you act like such a grandpa?"
"You've probably told me that at least 5 times now, yeah."
You two watched a movie together, some old action flick from long ago. You rested your head on Bakugou's shoulder, and over time he ended up curling one of his arms around you. You're engrossed in the movie, you thought it wouldn't be your style but the movements are mesmerizing! However, Bakugou's glancing over at you repeatedly, gauging your reaction.
As the movie continued, the night grows even colder, and you're retreating into Bakugou's chest for any semblance of warmth. It's easy to do since his Quirk keeps his body working like an oven. Bakugou's tensing up now, stiff and janky in his movements.
You yawned for the 15th time this hour. "Bakugou... I'm sleeeeepy..."
Your heart rate slowed and your eyes felt heavy, and you almost dozed off to sleep with the sound of the rain rushing down outside. Bakugou looked distressed, knowing that you two might fall asleep together for the first time. But you didn't want him distressed, you wanted him happy, because he was your Bakugou, even if it wasn't official yet...
In your sleepy state, you gave him a tiny kiss him on the cheek and then curled up to sleep against him. You heard him swearing up a storm under his breath, and he really went through the entire curse word dictionary as if you couldn't hear him at all.
Then, he kissed you on the forehead right back.
"Night, dummy," he said, his voice very quiet.

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 (Coming soon!!)
You often found your mind wandering ever since the outbreak, you struggled to believe what was happening was real. You tried to think positively and hoped that in the end, you would wake up from the nightmare. But there was no nightmare since there was no dream. The outbreak indeed happened and the world is in fucking shambles.
Even during the panic, you found it unbelievable, you refused to believe. It took your brother bruising your arm to drag you into the truck. And when Lori and Carl were put into the truck, Shane told you his belief of his friendâs demise. Another thing that you refused to believe and luckily, you didnât change your view.
Shane stretched his arms as he stepped out of the tent, a groan leaving his lips. But he wasnât the only one awake so early, you were as well.
You were folding the groupâs clothes, but you were also looking at the tags of the menâs shirts the group had taken. You were ripping the sleeves off of those you deemed the right ones.
âWhat are you doinâ?â Shane asked you, lifting an eyebrow as you ripped another sleeve. He had a good guess of who those were for.
âDarylâs shirts are coated in sweat anâ dirt. There are holes in âem.â You replied, a harmless smile on your face. Shane knew that you were trying to do something good for him. âHe needs new ones.â
Shane kneeled, taking your wrist to stop you. âDonât you think he can do that himself?â
âBut heâs out huntinâ.â You pulled your wrist back.
âIf he can make time for huntinâ, he can make his shirts himself.â Shane snatched the rest of the shirts and pushed them to the side. âWhat are you doinâ up anyways?â
Your eyes looked away from his, fidgeting with the tag of Darylâs shirt. Your dreams were plagued by nightmares, you wouldnât go into detail, and you were happy that you forgot most of it.
Shane could see it in your eyes, he rubbed your back. âDonât worry, weâre gonna get our home back.â
âWould we?â You mumbled, rolling your eyes.
âWhat was that?â Shane demanded to know. He grabbed your shoulders. âSay it again.â
âItâs gone, Shane. We have no home, thereâs nothinâ to go back to.â
âDonât you ever think like that.â Shane snapped. His voice was low yet gruff, showing how serious and angry he was. âWeâre goinâ to get home. Understand?â
You looked away once more, nodding. Your ears caught the sound of Daryl panting, arguing with his brother to wake up and help him.
Shane moved his hands from your shoulder to brush back your hair. âGo back to your tent, get some rest.â Patting your back and taking the sleeveless shirts, his voice returning to normal. âAnd keep away from them. I shouldnât have to remind you, again.â
You heard Shane speaking with Daryl, handing or shoving the shirts to his arms in trade for some of the game he caught. You also heard Shane taking credit for the work done for Daryl.
âI did âem. You smell like shit.â Shane was starting to piss you off. First telling you to keep away from people you were going to have to work with and then taking credit for work you didâŚ
It was most likely midnight. You and Shane were the only ones sitting by the dying campfire. Georgia may be hot during the day but could be cold during the night.
Shane glanced around, he was cautious, making sure it was just the two of you. He wrapped his arm around your shoulder, pulling you close. âStay away from them. I shouldnât be repeatinâ myself and I donât like to.â
You knew Shane could be an asshole at times but deep down, he meant well. But it was harder to believe him each time when he wouldnât give you a reason.
âAll I am askinâ is an explanation.â You begged Shane. âGive me a reason.â
âDo I really need to explain myself?â Shane loudly sighed when you nodded immediately. âThey are suspicious. I know we need every hand we can get but when it comes to them, to Merle. Itâs obvious that they are planninâ somethinâ, somethinâ bad.â
âWhat does that have to do with Daryl? Or me?â
Shane was getting annoyed by your constant questions. He ran his fingers through his hair, nearly pulling them out. âLet me ask you this. Do you think Daryl will go out of his way to save you?â
âWhat if-â
âNo ifs ands or buts. Answer it.â Shane said sternly, he didnât need your response since your silence was your answer. âDaryl is only lookinâ out for his brother, he ainât gonna be saving your dumbass unless you got somethinâ for him or Merle.â
âDonât say that about him. Daryl is just misunderstood.â
A harsh laugh left his lips. âJesus (Y/n), why are you tryinâ? You are unbearably naive. Always having soft spots, like that damn dog. Watch, Daryl is gonna bring you down to his shit level, and when he does, I ainât gonna be there to help your pathetic ass. Youâre gonna be risking your life for people who donât give a damn about yours.â
Tears stung your eyes, hurt by your brotherâs words. And Shane could see it. âYouâre my sister, the only family I have left. I wonât have you taken away from me because of them.â
You felt like a fish out of water, the way your mouth was opening and closing. It took you a good minute before you could finally speak. âThe world has gone to shit Shane. We need each other to survive, we canât be divided.â
â(Y/n)-â
âYou gotta get rid of your black and white thinkinâ. Find common ground with them, not draw a line in the dirt and spit on it.â
You pushed his arm off and stomped off, you mustâve looked like a child.
â(Y/n).â He called out to you, watching you walk off.
You sat on a random rock once. You knew your path back to camp, you remained close by, in case of an emergency.
You wiped your eyes, frustrated. You took deep breaths, running your hands up and down your thighs to stop you from completely sobbing.
âThe hell you doinâ out âere?â You flinched, snapping your head around just to see Daryl with a string of rabbits over his shoulder.
âI could say the same.â You grumbled, turning your head back around. âWhy you huntinâ out so late?â
âNone of yer damn business.â He countered rather harshly. âYou gonna answer?â
You were ready to rant but Daryl was a man of few words, and he preferred it if people got to the point instead of wasting his time. âShane and I fought. Heâs a fuckinâ asshole.â
â...Wanâ me to kill âim?â He asked, loading his crossbow and hearing a click.
A faint smile crossed your face, holding in the snicker you had coming. âI thank you for your offer. But Iâll be alright. Heâs probably stressed.â
âWhatâver you say.â Daryl turned around and walked away, just in time for Shane to appear. He didnât bother giving Shane a second look.
âStill havinâ a hard time deciding if Iâm real or not?â Rick asked, taking the water you handed him.
âNo, I made up my mind when Shane told me. I knew your stubborn ass would come out sooner or later.â You laughed as well as Rick. You laid your head on his shoulder, sitting by the dead campfire with him.
Comfortable silence overcame you both, but Rick had questions. Especially when he hadnât seen you and Shane speak, even when he returned.
âShane⌠What happened?â
âShane⌠He doesnât think that the brothers are good.â You replied. âI understand where heâs cominâ from but Darylâs different.â
âTalk to him often?â
âNot really.â
Rick sighed. âYouâre too kind, one day that will come back anâ haunt you.â
Rick left the conversation at that, leaving you with your thoughts. You were stuck. You couldnât focus and you didnât want to be around your brother.
You joined Daryl despite his protest and annoyance. He allowed you to follow, even more when he learned that never shot a gun before when the topic of weapons came up.
âDonât be lookinâ tense.â Daryl commented, his hand coming to your wrist. âYer holdinâ it too tight, relax yer damn grip.â
You mumbled an apology, doing your best to take his advice. But after a couple of minutes of remaining tense, Daryl took away the gun. âThatâs it, whatâs on yer mind?â
âEâcuse me?â
âI ainât gonna risk our food on you unable to shoot a damn gun.â You rolled your eyes. âYer shit brother?â
You grumbled, cursing Shane under your breath. âI rather not think about it.â
âYer gonna have to find a way to deal with yer shit if you ainât gonna talk.â
âLike what? Takinâ care of myself?â
Daryl shrugged. âProbably.â
âWhat am I supposed to do here? Not much to take care of myself with.â You motioned to the trees that surrounded the two of you.
âPerfect place to jerk one out though. Quick and easy-â
âEâcuse me?â You repeated, a little louder this time.
âHow many times you gonna say eâcuse me?â He horribly mimicked your voice. âThe way ya lookinâ at me shows that you hadnât done it.â
âI have.â You huffed but Daryl lifted his eyebrow. âI-Itâs just- itâs difficult. I canât do it when I know people are around or gonna be lookinâ for me. I donât wanna be embarrassed.â
âHavenât ya learned to do it quickly?â
âNo⌠But are you willinâ to help?â
Daryl gave you a confused look. âThought yer brother didnât want you âround me? Would ya think heâd approve of this? Me touchinâ ya?â
âWho gives a damn what he thinks? He canât decide what I want.â
He placed his crossbow against a tree and crossed his arms. âYa gonna give somethinâ in return?â You nodded hastily. âThen take yer damn pants off.â
Your fingers pulled on his sandy blonde hair, taking gasps of air as you felt his tongue lapping all of your juices. How long has it been? An hour or two? How many orgasms have you had? You werenât even going to try and count them all.
He kept a tight hold on your hips, he pulled you back whenever you pulled away. He had you laid against the dirt, feeling the pebbles and sticks poking at your back and head stopped bothering you when all you could think about was clouded.
Daryl remained between your legs, your thighs clenching around his head, the wetness covering the lower half of his face. His tongue danced around your folds and clit.
Daryl shifted his position, he kneeled, giving him a perfect view of your flushed body. A layer of sweat across your open skin, an arm thrown over your eyes and your other hand was no longer pulling at his hair but gripping a patch of patch.
He dipped one finger into your cunt, feeling you squeeze around him, making him add another. He slid his fingers in and out, fucking you quickly.
His other hand reached to unbuckle his belt, unzipping his fly and freeing himself. He jerked himself off using precum as a kind of lubricate. Each stroke of his cock was matched by the pace he was fingering you.
Above the wet sounds of your cunt, he could hear the soft moans leaving your mouth. His breathing fell into an unsteady pace alongside an occasional groan from the back of his throat.
Both of his arms were burning, moving faster than to what he was normally used to. A painful shiver ran through him, he was coming.
Another painful bolt. There was a hint of pleasure, but there was a different feeling. âH-Hold on-â Your back arched off the ground, a gasp cutting you off. âI think-â
He curled his fingers and repeatedly hit your g-spot. âCâmom baby, câmom baby.â He repeated under his breath, twisting his fingers and scissored them inside of you.
You swore loudly, feeling the sudden release, squirting all over Darylâs hand and pants. Daryl tossed his head back, leating out a strained fuck though his teeth. You felt his hot cum spill over your cunt, your arm moved away from your face and looked at Dary through your hazed eyes.
Daryl gave a couple of more pumps, stopping both of his hands. You gasped when his fingers pulled out, you could see the mess you made. âI didnât mean-â
âDonâ worry âbout it.â Daryl chuckled, bringing his fingers to his lips, licking off the remaining juices on them. âFeelinâ better?â
You nodded, panting. âVery.â
âGood, âcause you still owe me.â

crossposted to AO3
â
It wasnât the weekdays or the rush hour, itâs just the izakaya usually is not that packed. Only two couples on the tables and a woman tonight, who seemed to get off work quite late, sitting at the bar area, seemingly laid back on her phone over her unfinished beer. Old jazzy songs from your bossâ playlist softly filled the bar, warming up the mood.
Your head chef, well, your boss, Kouji, just bid you a farewell. The izakaya just opened about two hours ago this evening, but he had to clock early for his daughter in labour. She usually works part-time here alongside you until about a month ago, which is why you tried to fill her shift until she comes back. Not that you mind.
You wished him good luck before he tackled you into a light hug, resulting in a small âoof!â out of you.
Honestly, handling the diner on a slow day alone doesnât really worry you. Itâs always just the three or two of you. Kouji said the neighborhood was particularly safe, âalso itâs a small bar afterall,â he adds.
As you came back from the kitchen after finishing the womanâs check, a new customer came in behind the bar island this time. Young man probably what describes him more. Looks about around his mid 20s, pretty thick rimmed glasses. Youâre not sure if itâs his shoulder whoâs wide or his button-ups were just oversized, but does he look lean.Â
âWelcome! Anything for your order tonight?â
He sits on the barstool at the centre by himself. He adjusts his glasses as he glances around unsure, âyeah, um⌠just gyudon and draft beer, please,â
You walked around getting the tall glass to pour one from the beer machine. âSorry, can I ask something?â he promptly starts.
âYeah?â
âWhere is Kouji-san?â
Looking up from the filled glass, you serve the beer on the counter, âSensei? His daughterâs in labour tonight. Iâm in charge for tonight,â
âOnly you?â you smiled at his question and nodded, ââSeems you know Sensei. Youâre a regular?â
He took off his watch and chuckled, âSort of? I do stop by pretty frequently but Iâve kinda never seen you,â he reasoned as he folded up his sleeves.
You laughed softly in the middle of wiping off the beer faucet, pointing to the back with your thumb, âIâm usually in the kitchen.â You put the rag into your apron, âSo ring the bell or call up if you need anything.â
You felt the banter was enough as you turned your heels back to the kitchen because you had to make his gyudon, âWait,â but his calling stopped you in your step. You turned around to him taking a sip of his beer.
âI havenât gotten your name.â
âIf it isnât Wonwoo!â
Who?
Koujiâs whoop was muffled behind the kitchen curtain. You tried to calmly finish plating up the dish for a current customer so you can quickly move on to this acquaintance of Kouji. Putting his order is for later, so you swiftly deliver the tray full of bowls to the also full table at the back first.
You came back with another tray of empty dishes as you can finally see your next customer.
Oh, right⌠I forgot to ask his name.
He smiled at you as you confidently welcomed him, mirroring his smile.
In the middle of putting away the dirty dishes, Kouji came into the kitchen with a question, âWonwoo said he knows you? Youâve never told me!â
You looked back at him in a slight surprise and a chuckle, âNot really, actually, we met around last week I think? You clocked off early.â
What you remembered from that day was after Wonwoo asked your name, customers piling up in a short time right after you served his food. That resulted in you spending most of your time in the kitchen and finished his check a little quickly because the other was also queuing behind him.
âGo take his order. A group just came in just now and Iâm taking theirs,â Kouji ordered.
âWhat?? Why not you earlier, Sensei?â you whined.
After your half-playful complaint of not taking his order, you wipe off your hand dry and sighed on your way out.
âAnother draft beer?â
You guessed as you walked up to him. He nodded, âAnd a mapo tofu, do you have that?â You took out your notes to write down his orders, âIâll make sure and prepare that for you.
Anything else?â
Days after that, Wonwoo stopped by around eight to nine, assumingly whenever he had overtime. Itâs always the same order. One (or more) glass of draft beer and any bowl dishes, that mapo tofu most of the time.
There was also the time where he came in at almost eleven. He usually never shows any signs of fatigue or weariness on his face but you can see the dim in his eyes. You tried to not approach him that much, spending more of your time checking up the kitchen before touching the baton to Kouji for the night.
You rang up his check right before you clock out. He looked a bit more refreshed after his meal, cheeks slightly flushed after a few refills of beer.
âPlease walk safe home,â you gave back his card to the small tray alongside the bill.
Not expecting your non-customer service-way farewell, he stared at you for a few seconds before nodding his head, âyou too.â
You swear in every language you can think of. Your heart squeezed. Wonwoo was starting to grow in your heart. Itâs really nice to see him in the izakaya for a few days a week after that. You never sort of believed in any of those âat first sightâ moments, if it works, good for them. While it did feel slightly heavy on your feet anytime you had to walk back to the kitchen instead of seeing him and talk to him, you had to put your mind in place. Focus.Â
It could be because heâs one of your first regulars and, cough, is good looking, but you donât know his background. Who are his friends and family and why does he always come in alone? Youâre not even sure if itâs a crush or that you just found comfort with a customer. Either way, workplace is still a workplace and he is your client. This izakaya is your only rendezvous to him.
That is when Wonwoo ordered two glasses of beer. You tried your best not to halt when you stepped out of the kitchen and saw a young woman around his age beside him. You didnât, and served him his usual bowl of rice. Gyudon this time, and mapo tofu for her.
You need to stop looking like a stalker, hiding behind the kitchen curtain. This is the second time he had brought her to this izakaya. You need to stop before someone accuses you as a total creep as you compare their interaction a few days ago with today. Almost the same. From outside it looked like they were having a quite serious and private discussion, noting down stuff on paper and their phone alternatively. As if someoneâs life was actually on the line. You are also lucky Kouji will come later at night, because he might also accuse you as a total creepy stalker.
You try only focusing on attending customers. Itâs almost the weekend and customers start piling up before you realize Wonwoo was already sitting alone. You try to not overthink why he didnât take her home himself and let her go home by herself.
You walk up to the bar to check the beer dispenser. You can feel his eyes boring at you, slightly dim again like it was a couple weeks ago, and two empty glasses of beer.
âNeed a refill?â you carefully ask, walking up to him.
âIâm good.â he slightly smiles before asking for his check.
You kept your sweet encouragement to yourself as you donât want to force and assume anything towards him. He left the change and gave you a tip.
âWonwoo?â
It was nearing autumn. Though the sun was already setting at five, the bar still opens at the same time. The rain pours hard, covering any sign of the sun setting with gloom. But nothing couldâve prepared you other than the six feet tall man crouching under the roof in front of the closed bar youâre working at, shading himself from the rain. You grip your umbrella tighter when he looks up to your call.
He calls your name in recognition as he stands up.
The rain poured harder above the roof of the izakaya when you hand Wonwoo the warm coffee on the bar. Heâs in the middle of taking off his damp jacket when he looks up to you at the sight of the cup.
âOn the house,â
âThank you.â
You busy yourself behind the bar, checking and tidying stuff up under the bar as Wonwoo sips on his coffee. You peek glances over him. He doesnât look as tired as the last time you saw him. But if your over-analysis and timeline matched, his reasoning behind crouching like a pathetic man in front of your workplace must have something to do with it.
âIs it okay if I ask you whatâs wrong?â
Your sudden approach jolts him a little. He chuckles, âitâs fine,â you wait for his pause.
âI can say itâs family matters. Something came up and we had to figure it out somehow, a little stressful I might say,â you hum understanding.
âDid you not have work today? You usually come later. Itâs not even six yet,â
He shakes his head, âNo, I just finished super early. My seniors are having dinner, too, so,â
âNot going?â
âNot really my thing. Only works when I was new,â
He takes a sip of his coffee again. You space out for a moment not knowing what to respond. You were never the best at comforting someone. For as long as youâve been friends with your best friends, youâve always listened. Maybe give them some hugs and pats on the head, words of âIâm hereâ and âYouâre not on your ownâ repeatedly said, affirming.
You felt sort of bad and truly embarrassed at how you acted behind him the past weeks, sort of suspecting his love life, getting (you admit) jealous at some random woman you donât know and didnât even try to know. Maybe what you thought a few weeks ago was right. Maybe you do have a huge cruâ
âYes, Wonwoo?â your ribbons of thoughts were snipped by Wonwoo calling your name.
âYouâre usually bright, is something wrong?â
Confused by his question, you look around unsure. Guests usually come around an hour after opening, and you never wished someone to come in right now so bad through your whole career.
âM-maybe? I donât know, sorry,â
Wonwoo was in the middle of wiping his glasses with the paw of his sleeves. He puts them back on.
âItâs usually me whoâs quiet between us,â he adjusts them to the bridge of his nose, looking up at you from his seat, smiling.
Between us? Heâs not making this any better. You scratch the back of your neck, not planning to come up with any reply or answer. You avert your gaze to the window, trying to avoid his eyes. Your wish of customers barging in is washed away by the rainânot slowing down any minute apparently.
âI just thought something came up and you had to like,â you chuckle at your assumption, âget off early or, run away or some sort,â
Wonwoo was still sipping his coffee. Not sensing his answer in any minute, you finish your prior thought with your remaining breath, âsort of heartbroken-looking.â
You organize the shot bottle on the under bar, again trying to distract yourself from the fact that he's now facing you, eyes boring. You didnât budge and he stared at his coffee.
âI wanna get to know you, Wonwoo,â you finally look at him. Emphasizing on your tone, you donât want him to feel like youâre just messing around.
âCan I?â you ponder at him, preparing yourself for the worst.
âI donât know if it's possible. For all the time you came here, the past few weeks, I always get all... gung-ho when cooking, or preparing side dishes and bowls in the back. Itâs like I want you to see me doing great like thereâs nothing wrong in my mind. You know, "bright" like you said. Itâs honestly stupid, fuckâŚâ you breath out the last word.
âAnd then you came in super late that night, with thatâŚÂ heavy shoulders and countless refills of this damned beer, and then came in with that lady not once but twice, and thisâŚÂ serious tension between the two of you. You know, I just didnât want to assume but itâs just⌠I donât know, it was kinda confuââ
âWith who now?â
You instantly pause, knowing full well he has probably catched on. So you sigh, âThat⌠friend around your age. Pretty, slight tan, long hair,â you scratch your forehead in defeat. Itâs like your pride just splurts out like a balloon being squished its air out.
You excuse yourself by collecting his empty cup on the top counter to refill it, but a hand halts your steps grabbing onto your arm.
âDonât give me more, I donât handle caffeine that well.â
âJust⌠let me put this back to the kitchen,â
âLater. Sit here.â he orders.
Your heart flinched at the slight octave drop of his already soft voice. Another sigh of loss, you put back the cup. Wonwoo slowly let go of your arm to let you walk around the bar counter.
Itâs now a whole new view. Wonwoo is sitting right next to you and you can definitely smell his cologne. Even just one second of eye contact, you couldnât handle it. How does oneâs gaze be so soft and comforting? You dart your eyes and cover them with your hands with elbows on the table.
âJust⌠let's just finish this. I already feel ridiculous.â
All you can catch with your ears was his soft chuckle and fabric rustling, âyou wanna get to know me right?â
You feel his fingers snake around your wrist, gently pulling your hands away from your face. Seeing his face up close does not help even one bit, you feel even more like shit of how messy and pathetic you mustâve looked.
âThat⌠âfriendâ, is my future sister-in-law,â he starts,
Your eyeballs could probably see the back of your head as you whip your head away in another embarrassment, âUgh, Wonwoo, enough of that,â
âWhich is why we were so stressed we had to talk about it on our own. My brotherâs marriage is on the line.â
You hear his tone indicating him smiling whilst explaining. To be frank, you kind of already gave up the moment his voice dropped an octave lower. All you can do now is just to sit next to Wonwoo with his thumb drawing circles on your palm.Â
âItâs not stupid,â he softly assures, fingertips a little cold from sheltering the rain earlier. But it does feel so to you. Stupid crush at the ripe age of your 20s. Great.Â
âSo can I get to know you then?â
You look up at him, desperate for his answer and decision.
âOnly if I get to know you, too. Here,â
He taps his finger to the table, hand still not letting go of yours. You make sure once more, âlike right here?â
He nods, âuntil todayâs first customer.â
Youâre not sure if the smile on your lips is for him or just out of embarrassment, âWell technically you are one,â you chuckle, âat least let me put this back to the kitchen.â
Well, now that your stupid crush issue is all clear, you can finally find the courage to look at his face one more time, no meddling. All you can focus on was the soft and playful beam on his eyes behind that thick specs.
âTell Kouji-san you got a date tonight.â
[18:06] sensei [18:06] i might have to clock off early
[18:12] Oh sure, somethingâs up?

you're not jonathan
for @steddieholidaydrabbles prompt 'no upside down au' rated t wc: 997 cw: recreational drug use, language tags: meet-ugly turned meet-cute, flirting, somewhat ambiguous ending but we all know what's gonna happen
đżđżđżđżđżđżđżđżđżđżđżđż
Steve was not supposed to be the one picking up the drugs for the party.
He wasn't even going to the party.
But Jonathan couldn't get it from his usual guy, said he was back home in California for the summer, and it wasn't like Robin had a hookup.
Eddie Munson didn't technically deal anymore, but he made exceptions for previous customers, and Jonathan had been a regular during high school.
It wasn't shocking news to Steve, but what was shocking was hearing all these stories about how Eddie didn't even usually meet someone during daylight hours. Except today, apparently.
Steve tripped over another branch, barely caught himself before falling on his face.
"I better get so high off this shit," he said to himself.
"I only sell the good shit."
Steve froze.
Somehow, he'd missed a person walking up to him, probably when he nearly ate dirt.
"Is there any reason a hike is required to get some weed?" Steve asked, brushing his hands on his pants to get the remnants of the tree trunk he saved himself on.
Eddie crossed his arms in front of him, raising an unimpressed brow.
"No. Jonathan suggested the place."
Hard to believe the guy who hated being outside for more than a few minutes would have suggested a half mile trek into the woods, but Steve didn't really care to argue.
"O...kay. Well, I've got the cash if you wanna get this over with," Steve said as he reached into his pockets that were..."Fuck."
He started patting his pockets, his shirt, looking around him at the ground to try to find his wallet.
"Everything okay?" Eddie asked, coming closer.
"I lost my wallet. Shit!"
"Alright, I can help you look, man. It's not a big deal. Gotta be somewhere, right?" Eddie started looking around him, though it was half-hearted at best. "What's it look like?"
"It's brown. Um, leather?" Steve suddenly forgot any other details about his wallet. How convenient.
"Okay, so the color of the ground. Should be easy."
Steve snorted.
Eddie was smirking as he walked the way Steve came, checking the ground around him as he did so.
Steve followed behind, but he was pretty certain they wouldn't find it.
After ten minutes of looking, Eddie sighed.
"We should just smoke a bit. Take the edge off. Ya know?"
"I don't think that's a good idea. I can't pay you until I find my wallet," Steve said as he continued looking, bending down to get a closer look at a spot that seemed like the color of his wallet.
"On the house."
Steve stood straight up.
"Really?"
"Can't really kick ya when you're down, can I? Plus, I planned on smoking after you left anyway. We can share," Eddie shrugged, like it was no big deal.
Steve had never gotten high outside of house parties, the comfort of his own home or a friend's home soothing his anxieties about losing his inhibitions.
But out here? With Eddie? It didn't seem like a smart thing to do.
"Alright," Steve shrugged back.
Eddie must have sensed something about him, though, because he didn't let him take more than three puffs of the joint before he put it out and found a collection of boulders for them to sit on.
"You ever think about how trees are alive but they don't have ears?" Steve asked a minute later.
"Oh, you're that kind of high." Eddie poked his hand, making him look over at him. "You eat today?"
"Maybe. I've been busy. Do you think trees get hungry?" Steve replied.
Eddie searched his face before letting his pinky rest against Steve's hand on the rock.
It felt like fire.
"They do."
"But they don't have pancakes or cheeseburgers. Like, we can't grind it up and put it in the dirt for them, right?" Steve's jaw dropped. "Can we?"
Eddie watched as Steve looked over at some of the trees surrounding them.
"I don't think we can, no."
"A shame. They're missin' out. You know who else is missin' out? Jonathan! He made me come here and he didn't even tell me you had long hair or like the nicest eyelashes. Which is weird because he didn't shut up about anything else about you but he forgot about the eyelashes!" Steve's hand curled around Eddie's pinky. "And you look warm."
Eddie's brows raised.
He wasn't sure who Steve was. Jonathan had just insisted he was cool.
But Jonathan hadn't mentioned that his hair looked softer than silk, or that his eyes were wide and innocent despite his lip curling up in the corner in annoyance.
Jonathan seemed to have left a lot of things out.
"Well, it is summer. It's pretty warm," Eddie gulped. "But you do look a little cold."
"I get cold easy. Robin says it's because I don't eat enough red meat or something. Low irony or something."
Eddie was so endeared.
"I could help you stay warm? Walk you back to your car if you want?"
Eddie did not want that, but he knew Steve probably needed to walk off some of this high before his friends started to worry about him.
"Don't wanna walk," Steve leaned his head on Eddie's shoulder. "My head is walking."
"Should I try to head back and get one of your friends?"
Steve shook his head.
"Be fine in an hour."
"Okay," Eddie put his arm around Steve's shoulder, surprised to find that Steve was shivering. "Hey, you okay?"
"You do have good shit."
"That's not an answer," Eddie chuckled.
"I'm good. Best."
Eddie let him burrow further into his side and waited for his shivering to subside before he suggested heading back to his car again.
Steve still refused, and Eddie didn't have it in him to push.
Not when they were finding shapes in the clouds and he was holding Steve close.
He'd definitely owe Jonathan a lot of product if this went the way he wanted it to.

Secret Sister ~ Chapter two
Summary: After spending some time with your birth family, you join Nick, Matt and Chris in one of their YouTube videos.
Warnings: possible swearing, nicknames, fluff
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It had been over a week since you reunited with your birth family and things had been going well. You were getting along with your brothers and parents.
After having some time with you, Nick, Matt and Chris knew they would have to break the news to the fans. You were chilling on the sofa with Trevor curled up besides you, as the three walked in.
"Hey, we've got something to ask you." Nick said, taking a seat next to you.
"What's up?" You asked.
"So you know we showed you our YouTube channel?" Chris reminded.
"Yeah." You said.
"Would you consider joining a video with us, explaining everything to the fans and maybe doing like a Q&A?" Matt suggested.
"Yeah, sounds really cool!" You exclaimed.
"But I only have one concern." You added.
"What?" Nick called.
"What if the fans think we're lying, or hate me?" You asked.
"Then they can fuck off." He answered, making you laugh.
"You've got four older brothers who can fight your corner!" Chris shouted.
"Two minutes bud, two minutes." You said, patting his shoulder.
"I'm still older!" He shouted.
"I honestly don't believe that." Matt muttered.
You laughed and followed them to the car, ready to film the video. Nick got the camera as Matt drove to the car park. You were still in slight shock finding out you were a quadruplet, but also, your brothers do YouTube.
When you arrived, Matt parked the car as Chris set up the camera. Nick went to check if it was in focus as you sat, picking at your nails, something you did when you were anxious.
"You okay, kid?" Matt called from the front.
"Hmm? Yeah, just thinking." You answered.
"Don't worry about the comments, we barely look at them anyways." Chris said.
You nodded as Nick got back into the car. Matt pressed record on the camera as the guys did their intro.
"What is good Sturniolo fam!" Nick exclaimed.
"That's a new one." Matt said with a laugh.
"Shh." Now today, we have an announcement. We have some news!" Nick continued.
"Before you say shit and call us liars, we aren't. Don't leave shitty comments either!" Chris exclaimed.
"As you can see, we have a guest. This is Y/n Sturniolo." Matt introduced you, as you waved at the camera.
"She's our sister. Nick, Chris and I always thought we were triplets but actually we're quadruplets with Y/n." He continued.
"You can't really sit there and say shit or call us liars, I mean look at her! She looks like us!" Nick shouted, pulling you into a side hug.
"So today's video is really random. I know I said earlier to you we might do a Q&A but we can save that for the next video, the fans could send some questions in too." Nick said to you, making you nod.
"Okay, so we're just gonna talk random stuff?" You asked.
"That's a regular Sturniolo car video." Chris answered.
You laughed and nodded. Nick then shouted about some random thought he had. As you all continued chatting, throwing comments, reactions and thought out, you felt at ease. You laughed and joked with your brothers, as if you were never separated from them and totally forgot you were filming a car video with them.
Con La Brisa (Leviathan x GN!Reader)
Leviathan x Reader
Tags: Romantic fluff, takes place on the beach and in water
Word Count: 2,849
Summary:
With the new skill you recently mastered, you plan to surprise Levi with a date underwater.
[â¨Likes, Comments & Reblogs are supper appreciated!â¨]
Notes: This work is also available on Ao3, feel free to leave kudos, comment or read there if you prefer Ao3 more â¤ď¸
I forgot to add this in the original Ao3 post, but I was really inspired by the song from underwater scene in wakanda forever. So, I'd play the song on loop every time I was writing this. Feel free to give it a listen before, after, or during your reading session.
------------------------
Itâs been a while since you and Levi last saw each other for reasons that he understood as well. For one, you were up in The Human World, tending to your regular life while you were on a break from the student exchange program. And for another, there were certain duties you had to fulfill as Solomonâs most promising apprentice. In other words, Solomon was keeping you very busy with the lessons he provided as your mentor. Admittedly, it made Leviathan feel a bit upset, but he would always feel better upon receiving your calls and messages. It made him even happier when you would do co-op with him, just the two of you.
This time around, you were reaching out for the most unexpected reason paired with a quite off-putting request:
âLevi! Let's go to the beach this Saturday! Solomon gave me the day off and I thought it'd be lovely to do some swimming!â
Leviathan was speechless⌠no⌠he was frozen. This is the first time you asked to do something so extroverted. It's quite difficult to think of any proper response.
âI don't know about going to the beach, MCâŚâ
âOh, I know you might be worried about other people in the place, but I promise there's a private part of the beach we're headed to. I figured I'd take you there because I also have a surprise to show you!â The smiley face at the end of the text made Levi think twice about rejecting the idea. Maybe it's overthinking, but he has this feeling that you might not take no for an answer.
He lets out a sigh, essentially out of awe at how spontaneous you are. Though admittedly, it made his heart race thinking about what would happen on that day. He imagined the scenarios painted by shoujo mangas, especially considering it would just be the two of you going.
His thoughts ran wildly with all the writing conventions he got from every manga heâs read. So much so that he wondered if he needed to practice playing volleyball, or maybe some tough talk when you run into a random group of troublesome strangers⌠What if you planned to ask him to help you put on some sunblock lotion? What about the conversation you might have as you watch the sunset?
Apart from that, you didnât tell him to bring anything other than himself⌠did he need to bring anything? for him? for you? for both of you? Orâ
âStop this! Itâs not like itâs gonna turn out that way anyways⌠even if we are datingâŚâ
Even if going to the beach was the most typical kind of date for couples, he couldnât believe you were inviting an otaku like him to go with you. If anything, he figured youâd bring Beel and Belphie, Asmo, or Mammon, who definitely wouldnât refuse some downtime at the beach.
The same kind of thoughts ended up partially clouding his mind for the entire week. Luckily, not so much that it ended up becoming a problem for his duties as a RAD student and student council member. However, it did end up making him lose several rounds in the RPG game he was currently obsessing over.
When the day arrived, Levi had to make sure that the day would be perfect and ended up with a lot of stuff to bring after all. In response, Asmo and Mammon had to talk him out of bringing too many beach items. In the end, Levi just brought some sunscreen that Asmodeus shoved onto him, sunglasses, some swimwear, and himself.
âAre you sure I donât need any of the stuff I was gonna bring?â
âLevi, if MC is the one that asked you out as a surprise, it should probably mean that  theyâre  the one with an itinerary.â The 5th eldest of the brothers reasoned, speaking as if this was based on common sense.
âI-I guess youâre right about thatâŚâ Asmo was the love expert after all, despite being slightly uneasy and nervous, he adhered to his advice.
âIf youâre gonna get cold feet over going to the beach, I oughta take your place and go with MC to the beach.â Mammon hit him in a way that was aggressively playful as if he was telling him to turn back and switch places with him. Levi raised an eyebrow, slightly annoyed
âT-they asked  me ! BesidesâŚâ
Weâre the ones dating, theyâre in love with me.  He stopped himself before he could say his thoughts aloud, it was a close call.
âN-nevermind, Iâm just going because itâs MC! You should never refuse MC!â
Right as he says that, a portal emerges and he sees MC by the entrance. The timing almost made Mammon and Levi squeal.
âHey, MC! If ya planned on dropping by, at least give us a heads up! I think I lost 1000 years in my lifespan thanks to you!â
âMC!â Asmo squeals and runs over to give you the biggest bear hug.
âHello guys! Just coming in to pick up Levi. How did I do with the portal spell?â You turned over to Levi with a glimmer of excitement in your eye. His eyes widened realizing how close your face was to his.
âU-uhâŚ!â He took a step back and coughed, rose pink dusting his cheeks.
âIt was actually really good! Solomonâs mentoring skills are definitely not something to mess with.â You giggled and took him by the hand before turning to the two brothers who were seeing him out.
âWell⌠off we go! It was nice seeing you all!â
âTake care ya damn lovebirds!â
âHave fun you two!â
Before Leviathan could say anything else, you both already made it across the portal and into the beach.
Levi was expecting some intense heat rays. To his surprise, the heat wave never came. Instead, he was greeted with a healthy mix of blue hues and fluffy clouds.
âHuhâŚâ His eyes landed on the ground, feeling the warmth of white sand on his flip-flops. It was a small pet peeve, but he was going to ignore it for now.
He looked a bit farther and that this was a part of the beach that was relatively distant from where people would often stay.
âNot bad right? Let's head over to the docks.â Levi nodded, letting MC take his hand and walk him to the nearby docks. It was old, the varnish that protected the wood faded from the sunlight. The nails that kept them in place creaked loudly with each step, no matter how gentle they were. Regardless, it seems that the dock was sturdy enough despite its age.
The waves were splashing gently that day, telling you everything you needed to know about how today was going to turn out to be.
You giggled to yourself as you looked at Levi and back to the crystal blue water.
When you reached the end of the dock, you sat down, cross-legged, by the edge. Then, you motioned Levi to sit next to you.
Awkwardly, he obliges, letting his feet hang as he sits down.
âI begged Solomon to teach me this one spell⌠just watch.â You made eye contact with Levi who was looking at you expectantly. You gave him a small smile, trying to contain your excitement. Then, you let your eyes close as your focus was redirected to the objective you had in mind.
âSpirit of the wind, let my lungs respire and my body steel under your power.â
A blue light glows intensely within you as you take a deep breath in, and fades as you breathe out. The unexplainable sensation of the spell you cast radiates from your chest to your fingertips.
You open your eyes, all your senses returning to reality.
Levi blinks.
âOkay, cool trick and all⌠but what's the spell for?â
You raise an eyebrow towards your lover before speaking.
âYou mean you  don't  want to experience a day underwater?â
âHuh?!â
âSuit yourself, fish man.â You shrug before launching yourself into the water below you.
âWhat?! MC, Wait!â His mind was too startled to think about hesitations. Immediately, he jumped in after you. His adrenaline spiked as he looked around to find you, preparing for the worst possible outcome.
He had a delayed realization that you were trying out a spell that could let you breathe underwater, even as you reach the depths of the ocean⌠at least⌠if it was executed properly.
He can only vaguely recall how the spell goes as he didnât need it in his demon form. Because of that, he was too worried over whether or not the spell even worked, stressing over why you acted so rationally.
His worst fears were realized when he saw your limp body halfway through making its way to the ocean floor.
He cursed under his breath multiple times in a state of panic.
With all the strength he could muster, he swam his way to you and caught you in his arms.
Your mouth was slightly open, motioning to the idea that you mightâve already lost breath. He shook your body in an attempt to wake you. But itâs no use.
âMC⌠fuck⌠please not like this⌠itâs too soon⌠why the hell did you have to go and be so irrâmnnâŚ!â
Suddenly, he feels the slight warmth and softness of lips pressing against his, and a pair of hands snaking their way to his cheeks as they try to pull him in deeper.
Suddenly, his worst fears were unrealized.
You were the first to pull away, giggling playfully as you did.
âA-are you serious right now!? You could have  died! â
âLevi, oh ye of little faith⌠Do you really think humans are that fragile?â You caressed his cheek, in an attempt to reassure him a little, but he only felt more heated up about the situation, and admittedly, a little flustered from the kiss you shared.
âYes! Well⌠n-no⌠not you⌠I shouldâve known that butâ but you shouldâve known to test the waters first before jumping into the water like that! Imagine if the spell didnât work!â
âLevi, this is the spell I wanted to show you. I begged Solomon for literal weeks to teach me and help me master it. You had no idea how many times I had to grin and bear having to go to the beach with him and have him prepare picnic food.â
âI mean⌠look~! My hard work definitely paid off, and now I can venture with you whenever you want!â
Before he could even argue further, he began to recall the times he would gush over how much he loved the water. Admittedly, they were pretty rare instances, but the fact you even remembered it at all was heartwarming.
The soft-hearted thoughts came to a full stop when he realizedâŚ
âWait, that means youâve already done this with Solomon⌠more than once?!â
âCurse you Solomon, you lucky bastard.â  He thought to himself.
âI mean⌠heâs the only guy that could teach me the spell in such a short time. I wouldâve taught myself but I was a bit overwhelmed with the textbook Satan lent me.
âWhy didnât you ask Satan, then? Not that I want you spending time alone with him eitherâŚâ Levi asked, mumbling the last bit so you wouldnât hear it.
âI feel like heâs going to hold it over my head if I do. Like make me do his chores when I get back to the Devildom or help him with an Anti-Lucifer league scheme.â You shuddered at the flashbacks you had, recalling how it ended up with you being strung up by Lucifer at some point.
âNow come on! Letâs go see the ocean! Orâat leastâ whatever we can see hereâ or we can just float around, thatâs fun too!â You giggled to yourself as you moved around freely, feeling the coolness of the ocean hugging you, and moving against the motions you made. It really did feel like you were floating off the ground.
Quickly, you took Leviâs hand in yours, pulling him as you made your way to the first coral reefs you saw under the waters.
Time passed, allowing you to see all kinds of colorful fishes and reefs. You believed it was luck that allowed you to see such sights, especially how itâs become a rare gem in todayâs time. It was as if the universe willed this particular date for the two of you. The thought alone made you feel a bit giddy inside.
Pulling yourself from your thoughts, you turned to Levi and asked him: âSoâŚhow was today for you?â
Levi shook his head and smiled, it was as if he was trying to find the best reaction to give you. But at the end of the day, he felt dumbfounded and even more in love with you than he was before⌠even if he didnât know it was possible.
He turned to you, fully awestruck. âYouâre too amazing. Please donât make me say more praise unless you want this little otaku to die of embarrassment.â
You giggled, raising your hand like you were taking an oath.
âYou have my word.â You replied to him, âconsider that as a thank you from me.â
Leviâs eyebrows shifted slightly in confusion âhuh⌠but I didn't really do anything... I just followed your lead today ngl.â
âI know. But it's because of you that I got to fulfill my childhood dream to swim around in the ocean like this. Itâs ten times better because I enjoyed it with you.â
He pulled away from your gaze for a moment, you were literally killing him with affection right now. A giggle escaped his lips in response, probably one of the cutest youâve heard out of him today.
Suddenly, Levi let out a cough and his face shifted into a more serious expression.
âCan we d-do what we did a while ago? Minus m-me freaking out about you almost dying.â
âWhich I didnât,â You said matter-of-factly. Levi didnât want to argue, nor could he if it was you. He just laughed in response.
âWhich you didnât.â He simply said. In response, you pretended to weigh your options before swimming as fast as you could.
âYouâll have to catch me first!â
Levi couldnât help but scoff, this was a game of childâs play, and you knew it. So he gave you a little head start. He doesnât know where this surge of pride came from, he just knew that he wanted to play into your set-to-fail plans.
He wasnât always great with sports or running, but he was  definitely  a good swimmer when he wanted to be.
Levi felt his heart trying hard to escape from his chest. The moment he knew the distance was far enough, he made his way towards you. Levi could even feel his heart leaping bounds as you got closer.
But then⌠He realized, only at the last minute, that he had no clue what to do once he caught you.
Under a millisecond, his mind descended into panic mode. Right before he could think to stop, he had already collided with your body. From there, everything happened in slow motion.
There was something about the water that made how you both tumbled together embarrassing and beautiful at the same time. Perhaps, Levi thought, it was because the two of you seemed to circle around each other forming something close to the motion of a yin-yang symbol.
You were about to burst out in laughter but stopped yourself as you saw that ultra-rare expression on your lover's face, the one heâd hide because he was too shy to show how happy you made him.
The fondness in his eyes shone brightly under the dimness of the ocean. Your heart was beating crazily now, telling you to shower him with as much affection as you could in every kiss.
You obliged, feeling the world around you spin slowly as you did. It was something right out of a magical girl manga, but more. In Leviâs mind, he believed nothing could top the real thing, not even fiction.
âMC⌠I think I want⌠to kiss a little bit moreâŚâ Even in the depths of the sea, you could tell how much Levi was blushing as he sounded out his wants. The best thing about Levi was how he always expressed his desires shyly. He does his best to gather courage when he feels that he truly needs it. It was his cutest quality and because of that, you smiled.
âYou can always have more because you already have all of me.â
His eyes narrowed, trying to hide his giddiness with a cringed expression. You shook your head, you could read him so well.
The two of you kiss again, feeling time and space disappear for the moment. In that moment alone, you were both one with the ocean and one with each other. Feeling what it is to love and be loved, your hearts soared infinitely, as though they were with the breeze.
Linger Part 2 (Arthur Morgan x f!reader)
a/n: Part 2 is finally here! I stayed up a little late for a few days to push this one out because I wanted to get it done before my classes started. Thank you to the lovely @scumscumpooties47 for helping to edit all that I write. Literally none of these would be posted if I didn't have your encouragement. Happy reading!
warnings: typical canon violence, no use of Y/N, angst if you squint, happy ending, fluff, possibly some grammatical mistakes, slight spoilers to Ch. 4 but once again creative liberties are taken
wc: 3.1k
summary: You make up your mind, Arthur struggles to keep his promise once more.
divider by @plum98
The ride out of St. Denis grew quiet as the cobblestoned streets faded to dirt roads leading back to the Largras swamps. In place of the bustling streets were the croaks and cries of the animals that resided there. Arthurâs mind was in a haze, reeling from the amount of emotions he felt from seeing you again.
Nervousness. Relief. Desperation. Longing. Love.
The moment he saw you at that damned party he instantly forgot what his purpose of being there was for. Arthur disappeared from Dutchâs side to find you. He didnât even know what heâd say to you much less if youâd be willing to hear him out.
But godâbeing away from you for months without a clue of your wellbeing just to see you all dressed up at a party shot a bullet straight through his heart. He knew he wouldnât be able to leave that party without talking to you, but he hadnât expected everything that proceeded after.
Following a lady home after clearly upsetting her? Asking her to run away with you again? Here you had him acting like a damn teenage boy with a crush.
âWhat the hell am I doing, girl?â Arthur muttered to his steed. As if understanding his frustration, Bodicea huffed in response, earning a sigh from him. âIâm a fool for thinking sheâd want to show up after everything.â As he reached the gangâs hideout, Arthur left his horse to graze while he readied himself for what Dutch would have to say.
Dutch wouldnât take too kindly to Arthur disappearing from helping the gang look for leads, especially if it was for the lost love Dutch told him to leave in the past. âDistractions cost the gang. Let her go,â Dutch would remind Arthur while his heartbreak was still fresh from leaving you.
âArthur! Get in here!â Dutch yelled from the front porch of the creaky manor, crushing his cigar into the ground with his boat before striding inside. Complying to his orders, Arthur followed behind him quickly.
âI have a plan. Weâre going to rob the trolley station tomorrow. Micah claims he heard Pinkertons not too far behind us so weâll need to actââ
âTomorrow?â Arthurâs face paled. âWe ainât never robbed something in a city before. The law is gonna be all over the place! We need more time than just a dayâs notice.â Arthur looked down at the map Dutch had on the table. âWeâll be backed into a corner by the law before the Pinkertons catch news and come for the rest of usâif we ainât dead by then!âÂ
âAre you doubting me, son? Thereâs already been enough of that amongst the gang. I donât need to hear anymore of that, especially from my best gun.â Dutch scowled. âWhat I need to hear is that you have my back. Do you have my back, Arthur?âÂ
Pushing you to the back of his mind, he answered, âAlways, Dutch.âÂ
Seemingly satisfied with his answer, Dutch walked upstairs to his makeshift room. Sighing, Arthur sat down with his head in his hands. He felt torn in half. On one hand, he had his loyalties to the gang. He had been with them, with Dutch, for practically his whole life. He owed Dutch his life, but lately he couldnât help but feel as if Dutch wasnât thinking his plans through.Â
On the other hand, there was you. You, who had held him when he could no longer bear the weight of the guilt he kept inside. You, who would listen to him talk about the few precious memories he had with his mother. You, who Arthur loved dearly. Too distracted by the conflicting feelings in his head, Arthur didnât notice Hosea sitting down by him.
âI donât think Iâve ever seen you so thoughtful, Arthur.â The old man chuckled to himself. âWhatâs on your mind, son?â Sighing, Arthur raised his face. Some things might slip by Dutch, but Hosea seemed to always know when something was wrong.Â
âYou ever regret it? Coming back to this shit hole?â From what Arthur picked up when Hosea mentioned his life with Bessie, he had it pretty damn good. The pair lived in a cabin up in the Grizzlies until Hosea was roped back into their life of crime. Bessie had come along with him until she tragically died.
âI regret bringing Bessie with me.â He paused, his voice growing solemn. âMaybe sheâd still be alive if I left her behind.â The grief ridden manâs words hit Arthur deeply. Bessie unfortunately already met her end, but you hadnât. You still had a chance to live your life unafraid of the people that might come after you.Â
âItâs that woman again, isnât it?â A small smile grew on Hoseaâs face. âSheâs why you disappeared from us.â
âIt ainât like that.â Vulnerable at the mention of you, Arthur stood from his seat practically storming away from Hosea until he put a hand on Arthurâs shoulder. âSon, even as bad as it is for us nowâŚyou still have a chance to do right by your woman. Take what youâve got and donât look back.â Loosening his grip on Arthurâs arm, Hosea disappeared up the stairs.Â
Hearing Hosea telling him he had his blessing to walk out on the gang left Arthur feeling more unsure than ever. While he loved the people in the gang he had come to know as family, you had become his home away from home (as much as the gangâs ever changing campgrounds can be called âhomeâ.)
Needless to say Arthur didnât get much sleep that night.
The following morning you were awake as soon as the sun had risen, pacing in your room. You were sure the servants would be annoyed by the constant creak your floorboards made with each step, but you couldnât bring yourself to care.
The suitcase you had packed in a frenzy last night poked out from under the bed. You had no idea what came over you when you packed it. It was a blur of grabbing random items you thought might be worth selling and as many snacks you could steal from the kitchen without raising suspicion.
Picking at your sleeves you pondered all the possibilities that could occur.Â
1)One of the servants finds out and stops you before you can leave. 2) Arthur gets caught by a bounty hunter for whatever bounty he has over his head because heâs Arthur and always seems to be in some kind of trouble. 3) Arthur is killed by anyone else he mightâve wronged from being with Dutch (You hated that man. You always had a bad feeling about him.) 4) Arthur and you manage to leave the city and live in a hidden cabin somewhere in the mountains 5) Arthur doesnât show up.
Somehow even the possibilities of Arthurâs death seemed better than him abandoning you all over again. Death would mean he left you against his will. Your better judgment told you not to take him for his word. The two of you had already tried this onceâlook where it got youâ but even now the love you still felt for him won you over.
So now here you were, endlessly treading back and forth your room. This was it. You were going to trust that he would be standing at the bridge he said he would and run away with him.Â
Suddenly a quiet knock was heard from your door followed by a light voice, âMaâam? Is everything alright?â Recognizing the voice as your maid, Nora, you quickly opened the door and plastered a smile on your face. âOf course it is. Why are you asking?â You huffed, blowing your hair out of your face.
Oh god, she sees right through you. She can probably tell whatâs going through your mind just by the frantic look in your eyes. Sheâll alert the other servants and soon enough your husband will cut his business trip short to deal with you. Maybe sheâll keep it a secret if you bribe her.
âNot to be nosy, but the other maids and I heard yeâ pacing since the sun came up. Would yeâ like me to make some tea?â Your stiffness eased at her efforts to offer you some comfort in the form of tea. Since you first arrived at your fianceâs residence Nora had been the only person who made you feel welcomed. She might be the only person youâd miss once youâd left.
Thanking her, you walked downstairs to the drawing room and waited for the tea. You definitely had to calm down. Your nerves were causing you to look like a mess in front of everyone, but the urge to just race out the front door to Arthurâs arms was too strong. The love of your life was so close to you yet so far.
Soon what felt like eons passed and noon was just half an hour away. It would be easy to make up an excuse to get out of the house, but how does one explain carrying a suitcase? Nonsense, youâre their employer (engaged to their employer but nonetheless), and they had no authority to question what you do in a day.
âNora, Iâll be taking my afternoon walk earlier today. Donât worry if I take longer than usual. I plan on running some errands while Iâm out.â You called out while you dashed to the front door as fast as you could without tripping over yourself.
âBut maâam what about Mr. Finch?â Nora chimed, noticing the suitcase you held in your hand. Stopping in your tracks you turned around to face her. âWhat about my fiance?â Confusion evident in your voice. Did you forget something?
âHeâs coming home early, remember?â Nora reminded you. Ah, there it is. You had forgotten he was going to come home early, but youâll be long gone by the time he turns up. âIâm sure Iâll be home before he arrives.â You gave a tight lipped smile.
âOh maâam, you neednât hold your own suitcase. Thatâs why yeâ have the help.â She gestured for one of the nearby servants to take the suitcase from you.Â
âNonsense, I can carry my own belongings. You all do enough as it is.â You flinched and held the suitcase closer to yourself.Â
If she was suspicious of you, she didnât show it. With a hesitant nod she let the matter go and returned to her duties. Having nothing else that needed tending to, you left. You walked out the door with your heart beating out of your chest.
The walk to the bridge was only a few short minutes. No one had bothered you once you were out the door, which you were glad about. You didnât want anything to do with your pretentious neighbors anymore or their weekly tea gatherings to discuss the latest gossip of high-society.Â
No, you wanted to be with Arthur and spend the rest of your life exploring the country by his side. Who knew where youâd go first? Obviously youâd have to lay low until his face was no longer on wanted postersâperhaps the Grizzlies?
You were abruptly pulled from your thoughts when a lawman bumped into you as he ran by causing you to fall. âExcuse youââ You had started to reprimand him as you reached for your suitcase when you looked up and realized all the policemen were running from their posted stations.
âWhat the hell?â You mumbled under your breath, furrowing your eyebrows at the commotion going on around you. Lifting yourself off the ground you ran to the nearest policeman. âWhatâs going on? Why are people running?â In the back of your mind you had an idea of who might be behind the uproar, but you desperately wished it wasnât him.
âDutch! The damn brakes are broken!â Arthur yelled, racing to get to the back of the trolley. Maybe if he was lucky heâd die on impact. Going far too fast for the tracks to handle, the trolley was thrown to its side on the street. The outlaw was hurled forward before falling to his side. âJesusâŚâ He groaned, crawling out of the streetcar.
Dutch remained where he had been tossed, holding his head in his hands. âDutch?â Arthur yelled as he reloaded his gun, firing back at the police as they swarmed them from all sides.Â
Dutch moaned something intelligible to the gunners. âWe need to get him out of here. You still alive, Lenny?â Switching to his rifle, Arthur began aiming for the lawmen on the balconies and roofs of the buildings.
âIâm here! Iâm okay, but we got to move fast. Pinkertons are definitely gonna catch wind of this,â Lenny shouted from behind some crates. Spitting out a string of curse words, Arthur angrily pushed forward while Lenny helped Dutch.
He shouldâve never gone with Dutch on this job. Dutch had trusted Angelo Bronte was telling the truth when in reality he had been stringing them along. They were idiots to think the Italian man would let them take money from the city he owned. Most of all, he was angry with himself.Â
It mustâve been noon by then. If you had completely lost your sanity, you wouldâve been waiting for him where he told you heâd be. If you hadnât already been mad as hell with him before, you had to be now. He shouldâve listened to Hosea when he had the chance.
âThereâs a wagon up over there. If you cover us I think I can get Dutch in the back,â Lenny suggested, to which Arthur quickly agreed. Arthur proceeded to fire back at the police, allowing Lenny the chance to move a groggy Dutch into the wagon. Briskly following behind, Arthur jumped onto the wagon. The horses were quickly startled into pulling them forward while the police scurried to catch up to them.
They maneuvered the wagon as efficiently as they could with all the obstacles in their way, leading Arthur to wonder if word had gotten to you by now. He would rather you unleash your anger on him than be disappointed in him. God, your disappointment killed him. Arthur hated to be anything less than the man you deserved, but time and time again he seemed to always fall short.
âArthur! They shot off our wheel!â Lenny held a tight grip on the reins, struggling to keep control before ultimately crashing into an alley. Dutch thankfully hadnât been too affected by the crash, but was definitely unfit to fight off anyone.Â
âTake him and get out of here. Iâm gonna lead emâ away.â Arthur placed a hand on Lennyâs shoulder. âKeep him safe.âÂ
Giving a quick nod, Lenny dragged Dutch away until they were out of sight. Arthur ran the opposite way, taking the attention of the few lawmen that remained on their tail. He eventually killed them off one by one until he was left aching on the floor clutching his side.Â
âAh, shit,â He hissed, hunching over as he got up. A bullet had grazed his side at some point in his long fight with the law and the adrenaline coursing through his veins hadnât allowed him to notice until that point.
Huffing, Arthur leaned against the wall staring down at the men he had killed. Was it realistic to believe they could actually make it out alive to Tahiti? As much as Arthur wanted to believe him, he saw no reality where Dutch would be happy as a mango farmer. The outlawsâ quick tempers would inevitably lead to someone dead in the street.Â
âTake what youâve got and donât look back.â
He hadnât gotten much money from the heist, but he did have a few trinkets in his satchel that were worth good money. It might be enough to help the pair of you get away while the police were still searching. God, with you he could try to be a better man. He could find a real job, one that wouldnât leave a target on your backs. Or you could go off into the woods and let your only company be the deersâheâd go anywhere, do anything, if it meant he would be by your side.Â
Breaking his heart from knowing who heâd be leaving behind, Arthur made the decision to be loyal to what truly mattered to him.Â
Stumbling away, Arthur forced himself to fight the ache in his bones to get to you. It was no guarantee youâd still be thereâif you were ever there at all. No, he didnât have time to let himself doubt. Weaving through the backstreets full of passing immigrants until he was forcibly grabbed and pulled to the side. Before he could whip out his pistol, your voice stopped him.
âArthur! Oh, thank god youâre alright! You stupid man, I had no idea where you were and I was looking all overââ
Before you could ramble any further he pulled you against him and embraced you tightly, ignoring the pain. You wrapped your arms around him tightly, letting your suitcase fall to your feet as you took him in. He was alive. Your Arthur was aliveâseemingly hurtâbut alive nonetheless.
âYou stupid man.â You murmured into his chest, earning a low chuckle from your lover. âSâfine. Weâre gonna be okay.â Arthur pressed a shaky kiss to your temple. He could finally breathe again.
âWe need to get out of here. Youâre hurtâyou need help.â You pulled back to examine him, a worried look spreading across your face. âArthurââ He stopped you with a kiss, taking you by shock.
âMâsorry. Iâve been waiting for so long I didnât know when Iâd get to do that again.â If heâd ever get to do that again. Resting your forehead against his, you let a moment of silence pass. You were together again.
Despite his struggle, Arthur picked up your suitcase and led you to the outskirts of the city, dodging the policemen as best as he could. He had to do his best to avoid trouble now because he held his entire world in his hand. Arthur was responsible for taking care of you now and heâd damn well shoot himself in the foot before he let anything happen to you.
âIs this really happening? I canât even believe itâŚI love you Arthur. Iâm still mad you were dumb enough to try shooting your way out of the city, but Iâll be mad at you later.â You squeezed his hand with a giddy smile on your face.
âIâll do better. IâŚI want to do better for you. I love you.â He gave you a small smile. You spent the rest of the walk to his horse out of the city telling him all the things you wanted to do now that you were starting your lives together.
He could spend the rest of his life listening to you talk. Hanging his hat on the wall, leaving his criminal lifestyle would be hard to leave behind, but for you heâd do it a million times over. Heâd do anything to make you happy and now he finally could.
Smut below the cut
The three of you had always been close, always doing everything together. Sometimes it felt like Yeosang was toeing the line between friendship and something more, though he never outright stated his feelings for you. Your best friend seemed to love the idea of you two together though and she always seemed to find excuses to push you two closer. Like right now.
âIâm sorry, y/n, I totally forgot I promised my friend Iâd help him finish his project tonight.â She offered an apologetic smile that you knew all too well. âIâll be back in like two hours, why donât you stay and hang out with Yeosangie until Iâm back?â
You nodded and watched as she practically sprinted for the door, leaving you alone in the living room with her twin. Before you could speak, he let out a sigh. âShe does this almost every time nowadays, huh?â You nodded again and plopped down beside him. âIâm sorry. You didnât come here to spend time with me, you came to see her, but she keeps ditching you in the hopes that Iâll finally-â He stopped himself and shook his head. âIâm sorry.â
âFinally what?â You chanced a glance at him and he bit his lip, shaking his head again. âFinally admit you like me?â He froze and you chuckled softly. âIâm kidding. I know thatâs not the case. But she wants it to be. Sheâs always going on about how we could really be sisters one day but I tell her every time that itâs not gonna happen.â You sounded almost sad as you spoke so you quickly offered a playful grin and continued. âYouâre way out of my league.â
âIâm sorry, what? Iâm out of your league?â He scoffed and shook his head once more, leaning away from you to get a better look. âHave you seen yourself? I think you got it twisted.â He claimed, a fond smile creeping onto his face.
You felt warm at the compliment but didnât read further into it. This was how he was with you. You always pretended to flirt back and forth, except it wasnât pretending on your part. So you laughed it off and rolled your eyes, settling into the comfortable silence as he continued to stare at you. âCan I help you?â You asked quietly, letting out a nervous giggle as you tried not to squirm under his unwavering gaze.
âWhat if you were right?â He bit his lip pensively as you looked back at him in confusion. He immediately wanted to take that back but it was too late so he forged ahead. âWhen you guessed she was waiting for me to confess to you. What if you were right?â
âI meanâŚam I?â He nodded slowly and lowered his gaze, cheeks tinged pink. âThis isnât a prank, is it?â
âWhy would I make a confession and blush if I just wanted to play-flirt with you? I wouldnât put myself in a painfully awkward position just to pull a fast one on you.â He rolled his eyes and gave you a pointed look, making you offer up a sheepish smile in return. âLook, she isnât helping anyone with a project. I asked her to leave this time so I could finally tell you. Usually her leaving would be her idea but this time it was mine. Iâve been sitting on this for years and she knew. She told me a few days ago that if I didnât tell you how I felt then sheâd either tell you herself or try to set you up with a friend of hers. So when I found out youâd be here today, I told her to find an excuse to leave.â You didnât know what to say so you simply stared at him for what felt like ages before he coughed awkwardly and looked away. âItâs fine if thatâs not-â
âItâs not that, Iâm justâŚsurprised.â You looked at your lap as everything began to click into place, unable to suppress a chuckle. âSheâs been playing both of us, huh?â You glanced over at him just in time to see his head snap up. âShe told me the same thing. About confessing, I mean. Sheâs known about my little crush for years. I always thought she was just teasing me, and she probably was, but I guess she was just excited since she knew it was mutual.â
âOhâŚâ It was all he could manage. Your confession hit him like a bus and his mind raced a million miles an hour but still, he couldnât form a coherent sentence. Instead, he settled into his spot on the sofa with a tiny smile.
Given the usually-playful nature of your relationship, you turned to him with a grin and teased him a bit. âWanna make out?â You saw a brief wave of surprise cross his face before a lazy grin was returned to you.
âWanna head to my room?â It was your turn to show surprise but you quickly recovered.
âWhatâs in your room that we canât do here?â
âOh nothing, I just doubt sheâd appreciate me nailing you on the couch.â Your cheeks flushed as he rendered you speechless. Usually, he backed off after a little teasing, but this time he was keeping it up and you werenât entirely sure he was kidding. After a few beats of silence, he grew serious. âHey, Iâm just-â
âOkay, letâs go.â
âWhat?â
âLetâs go.â You stood from the couch, a smile playing at the corners of your lips as you held out a hand. He took it hesitantly and allowed you to pull him to his feet. Once he was standing before you, his demeanor changed and he offered a flirty smile.
âYou sure about this? Once I get you in my arms, Iâm not letting you leave until Iâve got you trembling underneath me.â His voice dropped and he changed the way he was holding your hand, lacing his fingers between yours as he pulled you into him.
âIâve only thought about it half a million times.â You said sarcastically as you rolled your eyes. âYes, Iâm sure. Letâs go.â He let out a soft laugh and nodded, leading you off to his room.
He closed the door as you sat on his bed, glancing around the room and smiling when you saw your old prom photo, among others. This room was full of memories, good and bad, so maybe thatâs why you didnât feel an ounce of anxiety when he approached you, standing between your legs. You didnât hesitate to wrap your arms around his waist, hugging him tightly as his fingers combed through your hair.
After a short while, you looked up at him and he bent down to kiss you. You craned upwards to meet him halfway, taking a quick breath before your lips met and letting your hands rest on his hips. His lips felt even better than youâd imagined and you found yourself feeling reluctant to let him break the kiss even for a moment. You let him though and he angled your head differently with a gentle grip on your chin.
He was taking things slow and being extremely gentle with you but you still felt yourself getting aroused. You nipped at his lip and his breath hitched as he carded his fingers through your hair. Pride swelled in your chest as you slipped your hands under his white tee, pressing your palms flat against his warm stomach. He pulled back to suck in a deep breath and tugged your shirt off before nudging your thigh with his. âScoot back and lay down.â
You eagerly complied and he moved over you, smiling down at you before kissing your cheek. âI canât remember the last time I wanted something as bad as I want you right now.â He whispered as he moved to kiss along your jaw and neck. You tipped your head back for him and he groaned softly. The way you offered yourself up to him made his head spin and his dick twitch. He grew a bit more restless as his lips danced along your skin, hands everywhere as you pulled his shirt up.
âTake it off.â You whispered, stifling a small moan when his large hands gently squeezed your breasts. You wanted to pout when he pulled away despite him doing so at your request. You allowed yourself to openly admire his physique as he tossed his shirt to the side with yours before kicking his jeans off. âMine too.â You urged when he started to rejoin you on the bed.
He cursed under his breath before carefully pulling your jeans off and adding them to the pile of clothes. He moved back between your legs and allowed his hands to slide up the tops of your thighs. âYouâre so fucking pretty, y/nâŚâ He sighed, eyes roaming your body as he brought a hand between your legs and thumbed over your clothed clit.
âI was thinking the same about you.â You murmured, lifting your head to watch as he slipped his hand inside your panties. He circled your clit with two fingers and leaned in to catch your lips in a more demanding kiss than before. You laid your head back down and ghosted your small hands down his chest and torso, not stopping until you reached the elastic of his briefs.
You were tempted to tease him but didnât, only pausing briefly before slipping your hand into his underwear. He fit nicely in your palm and you suddenly couldnât wait to have him inside you. You gave a gentle tug, your grip firm, and were rewarded with one of the most stunning sounds youâd heard to date. You continued, so focused on drawing moans from him that you didnât realize just how worked up you were until he slid his fingers inside your dripping pussy and you felt the knot in your belly tighten.
You felt him twitch in your hand when he heard your whiny moan and dug your thumb into the slit, almost as if retaliating. He damn near fell apart, groaning into your mouth as his hips bucked into your touch. He pulled back suddenly, swatting your hand away as he sat up.
âI canât-â You propped up on your elbows, confused. Was he calling it off? âI just- Iâm sorry, y/n, I canât-â You watched him hook his thumbs in his waistband and shove his briefs down and it clicked. He kicked his underwear the rest of the way off and immediately reached for yours. âYouâre just- fuck, youâre perfect and I canât help myself.â You lifted your hips to help him remove the offending material and let your legs fall open as soon as he got your panties off.
He gave you a look that made you clench around nothing as he settled on his knees between your legs. You wanted to fawn over how cute he was when he was desperate but you were just as needy and couldnât be bothered to put effort into anything except getting him inside you. âPleaseâŚâ you didnât have to elaborate. He knew what you wanted, what you needed.
He ran his length through your folds once, twice, three times before finally allowing himself to sink into you. He was thick and the stretch already had your toes curling in delight before he even bottomed out. When he finally did, you pulled him down and crushed your lips to his, wrapping your arms and legs around him.
His hips moved slowly, almost torturously as his lips danced with yours for a few seconds. It wasnât long before both of you gave up on proper kisses and resorted to drinking up each otherâs moans instead. He was gentle with you despite his previous desperation, almost treating you like glass, and it made your stomach do a backflip. To him, you were as delicate and as beautiful as a flower, something to be handled with great care, and needed to be taken care of.
He showered you with soft kisses and murmured words of praise as he rolled his hips, repeatedly driving his cock into you. He was going mad, every thrust pushing him closer to the edge as he slipped a hand between you. You gasped against his lips when he isolated his middle finger and began to trace teasing circles there, your skin burning at the simple touch. You were going to cum.
You warned him of your impending orgasm and he held steady, giving you a nod. âCum for me then, angel.â All your muscles contracted and released at the same time, back arching off the bed as you finally broke a sweat. You let out a loud, breathy moan as your orgasm washed over you, moaning again with every wave of pleasure.
Yeosang couldnât tear his gaze away from your face, something inside him demanding he commit the image to memory. He forced his eyes to stay open even when his lids grew heavy as your warmth squeezed him, drawing forth his own orgasm. You pulled him in for a messy, desperate kiss as he filled you to the brim, nipping at his lips each time he moaned. You couldnât help yourself, he was just too pretty.
As the pleasure subsided, he pulled out and rolled off you, much to your dismay - his weight on top of you felt nice. You immediately rolled onto your side and admired him for a moment before laying your head on his chest and draping an arm over his middle. âSheâs gonna have a lot to say when she gets home in a while.â You whispered, giggling softly afterwards.
He let out a low chuckle and kissed your head. âShe is. But I donât mind.â
die with a smile
a hwang hyunjin short story
week four
it was intense, the air in the room was stiff. hyunjin felt a bead of sweat on the tip of his hairline. his heart was racing a millions miles a minute, he almost forgot that he was supposed to be breathing.
"BINGO I WIN" jisung yells out throwing his single card in the air. causing the group around him to groan.
"come on i was one away!" you groan throwing down the dabber leaning your head on his shoulder. hyunjin smiles down at you gently patting your hair. hes gotten closer to you and jisung, whenever you would go missing he would always find himself in the room of han jisung.
hyunjin grew to love his time with you, being in here for almost a month. he learned that yeah maybe he does have cancer but he could continue to dwell on that or live each moment till the fullest. he learned that from you if he was being honest. your laughter, your smile, the way your eyes shined when you painted or when you watched him draw.
both of you hung out at your secret hangout spot. which wasn't a secret when jisung walked in after following you both in here. hyunjin was in the middle of drawing you when you asked a question.
"have you ever been in love?" you softly ask. the question threw him for a loop.
"uh no, sometimes i feel like i don't even know what it feels like or if i can love someone enough." he says. if he was being honest he never had a true representation of love. his parents divorced when he was little and his mom wasn't exactly the motherly figure he would of hoped. "have you? you know been in love."
"yes, though i never got the chance to tell him." you say with a sad smile. looking away from you, hyunjin felt jealous, maybe he was jealous that you got to experience love. or maybe he was jealous that you loved someone. he didnt want to think to hard on it.
"oh why not?" he wondered if you would tell him. he started to realized he knew very little about you even though you know quite a lot about him. he just wanted to feel close to you.
"i never got the chance to say it and i didn't think it was a right time to express that to him." you sigh "are you almost done im getting tired."
"yeah, go rest. we can finish this another day." hyunjin gives you a smile while you slowly make your way out.
hyunjin noticed you were more tired recently. when he asked you about it you told him that the doctors put you on a new prescription, and it made you really exhausted. even if you are tired you tried to not let it affect the mood.
hyunjin tried his best to not worry about it but he couldn't help but walk past your room whenever you were napping. or sit in the chair by your bed till you woke up. he was starting to get worried that he couldn't go a day without seeing you. you just carried this aura around you that made him want to continue to hang around.
hyunjin was lost in thought when his doctor came up to him asking if he had time to talk.
hyunjin and his doctor sit back in the office where he sat a month ago.
"how have you been this week? feeling okay?" the doctor asks while looking through his file.
"yeah i no longer feel sick when taking that medicine." hyunjin says picking at the skin around his nails.
"thats great to hear, so i was talking to your nurses and they think as well as i, you are free to be discharged. we called in your guardian to come sign you out, he said he should be here in a hour or so." the doctor says with a smile but slowly frowns when he see the look on the boys face. "hyunjin you should be happy why do you look so upset?"
"no i- um im just in shock, is it okay if i head out to say bye." hyunjin says while standing up out of his chair.
"yeah go ahead, it was lovely taking care of you, if you feel off or anything dont be afraid to come see me. also we are gonna need you to come back in a week for a check up if that okay." hyunjin nods rushing out the door to make his way to you.
Thereâs Three of You?! Pt. 2
As stated before: no, no one asked me to write this. Yes, I thought about all this. Yes, Iâm doing listening excersizes (just like in junior high aaaaaaalllllll over again) for the dialogues.
Warnings: foul language, might be some medical inconsistencies.
CHAPTER 2
I had just parked outside of the 21st Districtâs Police Department, my brotherâs phone in my passengerâs seat on top of my coat. I cozied up before getting out of my car.
That idiot doesnât lose his head because God was nice enough to super-glue it to his neck.
I made my way inside and notice the woman at the desk, she looks imposing, a woman with authority.
She must be the desk Sergeant.
I made my way over to her, a polite smile on my face.
âHi, Iâm intern Dr. Lillian Halstead⌠my brother works here.â I say to her, she looks at me, genuinely shocked.
âI wasnât aware Chuckles had a sister.â she said, I snorted at her nickname for my brother.
âChuckles? Thatâs a good one SergeantâŚâ I read her name tag âPlatt. Pleasure to meet you.â I added.
âPleasureâs mine. So, what did Chuckles do now?â she asked, I pulled out his phone.
âIdiot forgot this at my place last night when he left after watching the game together.â I say, the woman let out a hearty laugh.
âMen and their sports.â she said, then she looked at me again. âCome on, weâre going up through the back, I heard those knuckleheads will be back any minute now.â she said, coming out from behind the desk, asking someone to cover for her and nodding with her head for me to follow.
We went around the back and went upstairs to the locker rooms, we exchanged numbers and she went back to the desk. I heard everyone come back and Antonio comment on the things theyâd missed, then Sergeant Hank Voight gave some orders for the guys to go out again.
âActually, I think I'm gonna do this by myself, O.â said the new guy, Atwater
âOh hey, everyone, Atwater's been in the unit two minutes and already he's put himself in charge.â said detective Olinsky, Jay had told me about him.
Everyone started clapping and I did too, decided it was time to show myself.
âIâm not even in this unit and I know one of its most important rules.â everyone turned to look at me, even Voight, who had started to make his way to -what I assume is- his office, I had taken off my winter coat and had my lab coat on top of my blue scrubs. Jay looked surprised to see me there.
âAnd whatâs that rule kiddo?â asked the sergeant, I smirked.
âWhatever Sergeant Voight says goes.â I said, he let out a small chuckle.
âSmart girl.â Voight said, then Jay spoke.
âWhat the hell are you doing here?â he asked.
âYou left something very important at my place last night.â I answered.
âNo I didnât.â he said, I could see everyone following our conversation as if it was a tennis match.
âYes you did.â
âI wouldâve notice it.â
This man.
âAlright smartass, could you maybe call me? I think I left my phone in the car.â
Jay reached to his front right pocket, then to his left, then both his back pockets with a face of pure terror. He sat down, open his drawers and, alas, no phone. I decided to have mercy on him. I pulled out his phone from my lab coat pocket.
He look at it, sighed in relief and walked over to me.
âI guess I did forget something. Thanks.â he said, reaching out his hand for the phone.
âFully charged and updated.â I slapped his hand away and gave him a serious look. âPlease, for the love of God, donât loose or break it. Remember that I gifted it to you for Christmas last year.â I added.
âIâm not that careless.â Lies!
âTell that to your previous three phones!â
âColateral damage during UC ops.â I slapped him behind the head this time. âOw! Sorry.â
âSorry doesnât begin to cut it when it comes to that. You know I worry, and yet, you go and still do UC work. Youâll make me go gray before my time!â I exclaimed, I heard some snorts and laughs.
âYou brought me my phone back, charged and updated, for that Iâm gonna hug you.â he warned me, I shrugged and accepted the hug. âIâm gonna lift you.â I panicked at that.
âWhat? No. Jay-!â he wouldnât let me go.
âReady? On three. OneâŚâ
âDonât you dare Halstead!â I warned.
âTwo.â
âI swear to God! Jason!â he ignored me again.
âThree!â and true to his word, his hands went to my hips, and he lifted me, turning us both around. I started laughing along with him.
âOk, ok, I give. I give! Jay!â I said in between laughs, then he placed me back on the ground, he tighten his hold on me, leaving a kiss on my forehead.
âI love you, you know that right?â he asked me, I snorted.
âI could say the same thing to you.â I said, we pulled apart and I finally gave him his phone. He pocketed it.
âGonna introduce us to the pretty lady?â asked, who I can only guess is, Ruzek.
âYou havenât told them about me?â I say in a fake offended tone, Jay let out a sigh.
âDrama Queen.â he mutter under his breath, then spoke in a normal voice. âAlright, everyone. This is my baby sister, Lilly Halstead. Sheâs finishing her internship at Lakeshore.â he said.
âThereâs two of you?!â asked Ruzek in disbelief.
âYeah⌠and Iâm the prettier one out of the two of us.â I say in a stage whisper, he pushes my head to the side, I laugh.
âWeâre both good looking. Letâs leave it at that.â he said, I nodded. Just then, my phone ringed. I raised my finger to signal Iâd take the call
âDr. Halstead.â I answered.
âWhere in Godâs name are you?â it was my attending, pissed.
Shit.
âAs I asked you before leaving. I said I had to go and deliver my brotherâs phone to him. Iâm at his place of work.â I said, taking a deep breath, I could feel everyones eyes on me.
âI never gave you permission to go.â My expression showed my frustration and annoyance.
âYes you did. If youâd actually been listening instead of checking half of the female internsâs asses-â
âDonât you dare talk to me like that. Iâm your attending, and I could very well punish you for that sentence.â
âYou gave me permission to leave.â I repeated.
âI did not. I want you back at the hospital. Now.â
âYou have no idea who my brother is, do you?â I asked him, done with his attitude.
âNo, and I donât care.â
âYou should Dr. Hobber⌠you should. By the way, howâs your wife? Does she know that youâre cheating on her?â everyoneâs eyes, even Voightâs, were as wide as saucers at my question.
âExcuse me? How dare you-?â hes started to defend himself, I cut him off.
âDoes she know that you do it with girls who are half her age? And how are your kids? I hear your eldest had a big soccer game last week? Is he still going to go to that private elementary school you bragged about?â I asked him, tone denoting my smirk.
âHalstead, donât try me, you know I just need to say a bad comment about you and youâre out.â
âYou even dare to go after my internship and I swear to God Iâll ruin your life⌠guess having a CPD detective working in the Intelligence Unit, for a brother does wonders to your observation skills.â
âWait what? Your brotherâs a cop? Halstead-!!â I hung up on my boss.
âAnd that is how you deal with your jackass of an attending.â I said, everyone clapped, I gave small bows. âThank you, thank you, but I really gotta go. I bet heâll want to have my ass for this.â
âHey, he tries anything and Iâll swing by, badge on full display so he knows to back off. Maybe even add the bulletproof vest.â Jay said.
âEven I can pay you a visit.â Voight said, we all turned to him, shocked.
âReally?â asked Erin, my brotherâs partner.
âYeah. Put the fear of God in him. Show him no one messes with one of our own.â I was impressed by that.
âThanks guys, I really appreciate it, but I have a folder about yay big with all the evidence of this guy being the worst kind of scumbag. It includes pictures, testimonies, forwarded screenshots, and a recorded phone conversation transcript between him and one of the girls who wants him out, pretty much everything to get HR to fire him.â I said, giving an estimate size with my fingers. Jay side hugged me and kissed my temple.
âThatâs my girl.â he said, I smiled.
After another quick hug and promises of a drink later that day, I left the precinct back to the hospital. As soon as I parked back at the hospital staffâs parking lot, I took out the folder from itâs safe place.
âShow time.â I said to myself and walked inside, straight to the administratorâs office.
Youâre scenarios for parent Pigsy were really fun đ¤Š
If you take requests could you make something similar for ShadowJadePeach (Macaque, Wukong, and NĂźwa) being parents (or at least awkward step-parent in Macaqueâs case) to MK (and maybe Bai He (LBDâs host)).
Please đđ
I would love to! Lets go!
Macaque, Wukong, and Nuwa trying to be parents to MK( plus Bai He)
List:
Macaque and Wukong deal with all their issues, while trying to MK from going Apeshit.
Nuwa thinks she understand humans, because she made them, she doesent
"Nuwa, Wukong and Macaque babysitting Bai He and MK"
The scenarios are mostly silly little stories of them trying to be good parental figures or scenarios that could possibly happen in season 5.
Also, if anyone wanna draw or use any of the scenarios in any way, im completly happy with that! Just tag me, so i can reblog it and love it forever :)
Scenario 1: "Macaque and Wukong deal with all their issues, while trying to stop MK from going Apeshit"
This is acutally something, i think, could happen in the show.
So, Macaque and Wukong are trying to deal with all their past issues(which there is a lot of). And tts not going great though, and they end up having an argument again.
Suddenly MK steps into the room. He is really struggling with all the "mystic monkey busniess" going on in his life, so he thinks talking with the "mystic monkeys" would help.
Problem is, Wukong and Macaque are too mad eachother to do anthing to help, other than making it worse soooo. MK just leaves, now having it even worse with his "monkey fate", since earlier he had a small fight with Mei. Nothing big, but with Macaque and Wukong fighting, and them being an awfully lot like him and Mei, he is starting to get scared that they will end up like them. And that he will end up hurting Mei.
So in the middle of MK having this chrisis, a sort of Steven Universe future panic(if you know the refernce), Wukong and Macaque finally come to their senses and reailise something very important. To help MK, they have to understand what went wrong with them, so MK and Mei dont end up on the same road.
And in that way, we get the "Macaque and Wukong backstory" :D
Scenario 2: " Nuwa thinks she understand humans, because she made them, she doesent"
One day, MK goes to pick up Bai He from school(big brother and little sister vibes). Sadly it starts raining(a lot), so they cant get home. (Kinda like this scene from my neighbor Tortoro).
Nuwa sees this and picks them up, where she is then thanked and told that they quickly have to get Bai He home, before her parents get too worried.
But instead of just driving a little bit faster Nuwa goes almost full GOD MODE, and drives faster than fucking Wukong on his cloud. They almost drive several people over, several cars crash into eachother because of it, and a lot of people have gained new trauma because of it.
The kids are screaming, yet Nuwa just interepts this as to go FASTER.
They make it to Bai He's home, safe and sound, but lets just say that MK and Bai He are just gonna wait next time it rains that much.
(The reason MK didnt use his staff? He forgot)
Scenario 3: "Nuwa, Wukong and Macaque babysitting Bai He and MK"
Pigsy was supposed to take care of Bai He, because her parents were doing something that day, but something came up. And MK cant do it, because he accdently broke one of his legs, and Pigsy doesent wanna push him too much because of it.
And since neither Mei, Tang, Sandy or any resbonibly adult he knows, can help, he calls Nuwa, Wukong and Macaque.
The little trio sees this as a great possibilty to get closer to the kids, but its gets a biiiit chaotic with the following things happening:
Macaque gets a bit jelaous, and tries to train MK a bit, yet this ends in MK breaking his arm too(dont ask, neither of them dont know how it happend)
Bai He asks Nuwa if she can help her with her homework. This though ends up in Nuwa crying over Math homework.
Wukong tries to cook some food, but gets too cocky, and ends up making litteral poison, that could kill a god.
Dont worry, they order some Pizza, put on a show and they actually have quite a nice time after that.
Pigsy just finds them sleeping together on the couch, and suspects nothing. (though he was surprised the house wasnt burned down)
Minor HOFAS spoilers ig?
The Walmart bonus chapter just leaked and good lord some people need to be for real. I'm so tired of people picking and choosing evidence.
So you're telling me that *gasp* Azriel's shadows seem to dance when he hums?? they react to sound/music?? no way. people from all sides of the fandom have been saying that for years (and use it for different arguments), and looks like ppl are still tying anything they can to feed their ship--which is fine but at least make it somewhat accurate.
The above is the last page of the Az/Bryce/Nesta chapter, and just as a refresher, this is the oh-so controversial phrases from the Az bonus chapter:
"(...) one of his shadows went out to dance with it (gwyn's breath) before twirling back to him. like it heard some silent music." and "(...) he could have sworn a faint, beautiful singing followed him. could have sworn his shadows sang in answer."
I'm confused, which is it? Was the shadow's reaction to her breath & the singing he heard all metaphorical, thereby hinting at a mating bond between gwyn & az (as in "music between souls")? Or was it rather azriel's shadows reacting to a literal sound coming from someone who has arguably been hinted at having some voice/song-related abilities? Because if it is the first, then this new HOFAS excerpt is completely unrelated. Well unless Azriel has a mating bond with himself? pleaseee make it make sense I beg. And if the second is true, it would mean that for someone to be able of making his shadows dance, they'd have to have similar powers as him... its just gonna fuel the lightsinger theories (which btw approx 5 ppl are saying means that gWyn is eViL) so this literally changes nothing. nada. absolument rien.
Oh also.
"He says no partner right now, aka NO FUCKING ELRIEL. ELRIEL IS DEAD." (no hate to whoever posted that btw)
He literally rushes out that answer. Idk about you guys but to me the poor man still seems internally dead over the whole mate existential crisis, which as far as we know was left with him wondering "what if the cauldron was wrong". Sidenote but if I understood correctly, this all happens 2-3 months post acosf and Bryce spends Âą5 days in Prythian, so it is very likely that it is all set during Acotar 5, and that the events of HOFAS in general are happening while Az is separated from the other MC (ie. the acotar5 FMC).
Regardless of all I just said, I am going to ask people once again to be for real. cause this whole chapter Azriel keeps glaring at Nes when she is about to reveal too much info, so WHY would he be mentioning Elain (or literally anyone he cares about) to someone who he is said to be highly suspicious of? make it make sense x2
Almost forgot. Last thing.
"Azriel said that Nesta killed the King! He didn't credit Elain!"
... no? for context, this is what Az said:
See my second point above. He told Bryce exactly what Nes did, and nothing more: she beheaded Hybern. We could speculate about what his look at Truthteller made him think of... but tbh I'll leave it to someone else cause perso I dont really see the point.
I am getting tired guys... guess who finally understands what "fandom fatigue" is.
-----quick edit-----
I don't mean to sound hypocritical by tagging ships, cause tbh i dont even wanna put acotar ship tags to this, mais bon c'est la vie et j'en peux plus. this fandom is kind of a mess. Goodnight loves âĄ
CHAPTER 3: Cassiopeia
AO3 | chapter 2 | chapter 4
content warnings/tags: cheating (not on/by ellie); mentions and use of drugs; subtle homophobia; slight discomfort.
notes: hello loves! i'm back with chapter three and it's a bit longer than usual, hope you like it. also, there is a minor OC mention in this one. nothing too much, it's actually such a quick role that i didn't want to waste a character in it, not going to happen often.
"With my back to the shoreline, I dreamt that he drowned"
 â Georgia, Phoebe Bridgers
January 22, 2039 Winter
Dear diary,Â
I've been avoiding Ellie for the last couple weeks since Christmas. The last time I saw her was during New Year's Eve, tried to come talk to me but my mom was there and she had had a couple drinks. I realized it was better for me to not cause any type of scene.
After what she saw on Christmas mama said it'd be better for me if I got closer to Dina since we "have much more in common", of course what she really means is that I should not go anywhere near Ellie. She's also been really trying to set me up with one of Seth's boys, Mike. The older one, I think he's like 18 or 19. I really don't give a shit, I've only been seeing him so she would stop coming to my door late at night to pray for me while I'm asleep.Â
Tonight there's gonna be a community get-together at Tipsy and I know for a fact Ellie is gonna be there. And so will Mike, I guess. God, he's so fucking annoying. I mean, he doesn't actually do anything bad, he's just boring and... shallow.
Anyways, I'm going right now 'cause Cat promised to give me bangs. I bet it's going to look awful and mama's gonna kill me. If it does happen I'll make sure Dina burns this journal.Â
The sun had just set, the sky was not too dark. I grabbed the cake I baked for the community party and filled up Stevie's water bowl before leaving out of the door. As I turned to lock the door behind me, I got scared by a voice.
"What are you doing? Were you leaving?" Mike said, making me jump and almost drop the cake. "I said I was going to pick you up, why were you going by yourself?" He smirked, realizing I got spooked.Â
"I completely forgot, I'm so sorry", I smiled while trying to hide the fact that I wanted to throw the vanilla cake into his face, I absolutely hate getting spooked. I could see his smirk getting wider, he probably realized how distressed I was. And I think he liked it.
"Where 'ma hug at?", Mike tilted his head. I could feel my face twitch as I walked down the steps to my front porch. I looked up and put one arm on his shoulder, hugging him. He was quick to put both his arms around my waist, making me furrow my brows. I'm usually really not a fan of physical touch and Mike was always really touchy. After about two seconds, I pulled away and started walking.Â
The walk to the bar was quick and sorta quiet. He asked to hold hands, saying my hands must feel cold. I said I'm fine and stuffed them in my pocket. The lights on the street were beautiful, taking away my attention from him completely. We then got to my mom, sitting beside Seth. He got up, with a smile.Â
I smiled back, wide and polite, as always. "I baked a vanilla cake, I hope people like it", I uncovered the cake and handed it to Seth, who seemed impressed. "Well, at least I know ma' boy won't be starving anytime in the future", he said with a grin. I could feel my smile getting smaller by the minute. The boy laughed with his dad.
On the other side of the room I could see my friends, all sitting together on the same table. Ellie included. I think Jesse saw me staring because he waved at us, calling us over. I thought if I should wave back but before I could even come to a decision Mike was headed towards them, dragging me along.Â
"Look who's here! I thought you got kidnapped by Santa or something." Dina laughed, elbowing me.Â
"Nah, was just doing an internship as a reindeer, but I'm back in town", I scoffed. Ellie was quiet, sitting on the corner chair. "Hi", I waved to her, reluctant.Â
"Hey", she replied, her voice low. With the slightest of smiles, she points at my fresh bangs and says: "I like the new cut, suits ya' good."Â
I smile and I can see her cheeks get fairly flushed. I open my mouth to respond to the compliment, but get rudely interrupted by Mike: "no shit, you cut your hair?", he's surprised.Â
"You didn't notice the whole walk here?" I knew Mike wasn't exactly the brightest but I never took him for being blind too. He shrugs his shoulders and opens his mouth, trying to find an excuse for his lack of attention. Luckily, Seth calls him over to the kitchen for help, sparring us both with this useless talk. "I'll see ya' ", he says as he walks to his dad. I sat with my friends.
"Not noticing a haircut is a man's worst flaw", Jesse jokes. I roll my eyes and reply: "I really don't give a fuck. Anyone got a beer? Any alcohol? Anything?"
Dina whistles and laughs. "For you?! I'm impressed, look who decided she likes beer now!" Dina always liked to mess with me, especially about the fact that I don't usually drink with them.Â
"Well, I can't always babysit you all", I mock Dina. "Time to return the favor." Dina lifts her hands in the air, so does Jesse. I turn to look at Ellie.
The auburn haired girl sighed and got closer, whispering: "s'okay, I do have something on me but y'all can't tell anyone otherwise we'll all be in trouble!" She gets up and all three of us follow after her.Â
We sneaked out to go Ellie's house, she unlocked her door. "It's a mess, I wasn't expecting to have guests. You wait outside." I leaned against the front door, Dina leaned against Jesse, whispering something in his ear that made him chuckle. Soon after, there she was with a 6 pack of beer. We all walked together, deciding to stop by a creek, as usual.Â
Ellie sat on a rock and I sat by her side, she handed me a beer. Jesse and Dina got a beer each and went to sit further, guess they needed some privacy. I took a sip, trying my best not to make a face. I'm really not used to alcohol. I try to break the cold silence.Â
"So..." I looked up to the sky. "Do you really just keep a 6 pack hidden in your room?"
She chuckled, not saying anything else. Maybe she is mad at me. I would be. But her being mad would mean that it actually meant something, I don't think it did for her. Did it? Do I? Do I mean something for Ellie? Well, maybe now she sees me as a heartless bitch. I take another sip of the beer, thinking about how Ellie completely despises me.Â
"Are you sure you wanna drink it? I know you hate beer." I looked to the side to see Ellie looking at me, smiling sweetly. "I could give ya' something else, if you want, of course." She laughs.Â
"What? Oh, sure" I try to brush it off, as she reaches for something inside her jacket. I watch as she takes a joint and a lighter off her pocket and try to play it cool, even though I've never smoked a cigarette before. She lights it up, gives it a puff and passes it to me. I try to mimic her and end up coughing really hard while she laughs at me.Â
"You've never smoked weed?", she laughs. "I've never smoked anything!", I reply, still coughing like an old man. "Aw shit, if I knew I wouldn't have done this, you should have told me!". She took it off my hand and smoked it again.Â
Ellie blows out the smoke into the sky as I recover. "I can help you if you want", she says with a smirk. I raise an eyebrow, pretending to be innocent. I think I know what she's gonna do, I've seen guys do it in movies. I nod my head yes, "go ahead".
She puts the cigarette between her lips and takes another drag, but holds the smoke this time. She gently cups my face with her hand and slowly gets closer, I open my lips, not sure if I'm just going on with the bit or actually trying to say something. Lightly brushing her lips against mine, she blows out the smoke in my mouth. I closed my eyes and took it, breathing it in, and for a moment I could feel her smile against my lips. She backs away. I can see her rosy cheeks, they match the state of her eyes. She takes another drag to herself, looking the other way. As she turns around I can see the freckles on the back of her shoulder. I look to the sky and back to her, until she notices.
"All good?" Ellie smiles, looking a bit embarrassed. I shake my head.
"Toss your hair to the side", I say. She does so without asking a single question. "Now turn back around."
I take my index finger to meet her back, making her skin shiver. Move it to one side then another, tracing patterns, connecting dots. Constellations.Â
"Cassiopeia." I moved my finger again. "Big Dipper." I moved it once more. "Cepheus". I whispered under my breath, by her neck.
Ellie chuckled. "Are you tracing stars on my back?" She got the weed back to her lips, dragging on it once more. Afterwards, Ellie looked into my eyes, close to her neck. She got close and brushed her freckled nose against mine, shamelessly touching lips and blew out the smoke into my mouth again. Our gazes intertwined and our faces closer than ever when I heard Dina approaching. We both backed away.
"Sorry for bothering you two. Mike's looking for ya'." Dina grinned, shaking her head and walking away. I quickly got up, adjusted my hair and walked away too, without looking back.
It's been a minute since I played tag! (And also apparently since I've made a tumblr post from scratch because I could not for the life of me find the make a new post button đ) I'm getting in on this one early before too many people tag me in it and I get overwhelmed, but thanks to @gardenerian and @gallawitchxx for waving me over.
Under a cut because I am a talkative little so-and-so today
name: howl đş (aroo)
age you are mentally: I am a thousand years old I'm a newborn baby i'm ready to retire I'm not ready for senior year to be over I've seen too much the world is brand new i hate not being in control i cannot be put in charge i'm only small! you understand.
top 3 fics that came out last year (that you can remember at this point lol): being the most predictable bitch alive and second and thirding mel and bee when I say OLD HABITTTTTTSSSSSS by @whatthebodygraspsnot , guaranteed to satisfy by @catgrassplantdad and this one didn't come out last year but it was UPDATED last year to my great and incredible joy and I may have been so excited I forgot to comment on the new chapter which I will be doing immediately after I re-read it but Selfless Acts of the Illegal Variety my beloved, by @abundanceofnots
add in any authors who you read all of their things: I have not been able to do a lot of reading the last couple of years but certainly folks whose works get me real excited are those above, ray, jessie, and ellie, then of course @gallawitchxx @gardenerian @iansfreckles @whatwouldmickeydo @suzy-queued @the-rat-wins @captainjowl @sam-loves-seb @biblionerd07 (and if @gallavichy ever decided to start writing again I would legit leave my job in the middle of the work day to go somewhere private and scream and then read whatever it was)
fave artist/band/singer/group your discovered last year (has to be new to you, not new): Last year for the first time in maybe a decade I bought a ticket to a concert that no one had asked me to accompany them to, so I think I'm gonna have to say Remember Monday, petty queens.
one thing you learnt last year that youâre taking into 2025: sometimes asking for help is the only way to get to the finish line.
was it a good year or bad year? indescribably bad.
is there anything superstitious you do to try and continue that vibe or absolutely change it? i'm not really a superstitious guy? I feel like the only way you change the vibe is just by straight up changing it.
fave WIPs you're following into this year: I am not up to date on what is being updated, but I am always praying for updates on a few things - Elevator Music, Selfless Acts (again! I'm greedy!), Let The Bodies Do the Talkin', Things Beyond Mistake, Tender Hearts and Other Maladies - can you believe before this fandom I literally would never read a fic unless it was finished? and now I'm surrounded by all these amazing works I never would have known the joy of if I had kept that nonsense up! Read WIPs folks! It's joyful!
are you doing any January get healthyâ things? I wouldn't call it a 'get healthy' thing, but after several years of living on everyone else's schedule I am choosing this January to try and 'be healthy' by listening to my body and not do anything it doesn't want to do.
more random questions ~~ did you consider yourself an avid reader before you found fanfic? for sure, I am the bookish girl to fic monster pipeline. She is me.
do you read books as well as fanfic? yes (but not as many as I used to!) or no: fanfic or die -- I struggle to read books when I am struggling, so I end up reading fic instead, but I am always reaching for a book, even if I don't end up reading it. So far this year though I'm on my third book so far!
what are you doing to survive this january so far? Sleeping, eating, saying yes when I want and no when I want, sleeping some more, taking my dog for a walk, ignoring my bank balance, reading, writing.
woo tag game! We did it! I am tagging everyone who I have tagged in the body of the post, as well as @heymrspatel @callivich, @sleepyfacetoughguy @mickeyheartian and @gallavichsuperfan , and everyone who has tagged me in a game this last year, I see you keeping me in your hearts and minds and I appreciate you!
I.Â
One day where he can make it out of the cafeteria in peace. Thatâs all Florian wants. And yetâ
âHey, freak. Whereâs that meal combo you promised to get for me? And the homework you said youâd do for me?â
Eeeek!!!
Florian almost bursts into tears on the spot when someone in his grade, a burly bear beastman, grabs him by the back of his collar. It hasnât even been two weeks into the school year and this guy, Darren, has made it his personal mission to target the weakest student he could find.Â
âUhâumâIââ Aaaahhhh!! Get me out of here!!!!! âMâMy housewarden, Rosehearts, he⌠He caught me trying to do your homework for you, a-andâŚâ
âBullshit,â Darren snaps, âYouââ
Heâs cut off when someone bumps into himâthat someone being none other than the magicless assistant, Yuhua.Â
Yuhua. Florianâs saved! Heâs really saved! Surely, the person whoâd suddenly gotten involved with Heartslabyulâs tyranny and pulled off such heroic moves can do something about thisâŚ!!
âWhoa⌠Sorry. Whatâs going on here?â asks Yuhua.
Darren glares at him, and Florian wilts from second-hand fear. âNothing, just a talk between classmates. Keep moving.â
Florian gives Yuhua the most pitiful, pleading, desperate look he can in the hopes that itâll communicate a cry for help.
It seems to work, because the TA turns to the other freshman and tilts his head. âYeah⌠Thatâs definitely all thatâs going on? No intimidation or anything?â
âHowâs any of that your business?â
âHeyââ Yuhua throws up his hands in a placating gesture, although his expression looks very bothered. âIâm just askingâŚâ
Well, that doesnât work. Darren lets out a low growl from the depths of his throat. âWho the hell do you think you are, seriously? You think a bunch of rumors are gonna make me afraid of you? Fuck off already.â
Yuhua frowns. âThen⌠Then maybe you shouldnât consider doing this in the middle of the cafeteria if itâs private business?â
âAre you kidding me?â Another pissed off growl, and Darren shoves Yuhua. âI could burn you to ashes like itâs nothing. Donât forget that youâre magicless.â
Itâs not directed at Florian, really, but he canât help but wither and shrink into himself even more on Yuhuaâs behalf. Scary⌠He wants to say something to defend Yuhua, to say that everythingâs fine, butâwhen he looks over at the TAâŚ
Yuhua opens his mouth automatically as if to say something, then closes it. Florian isnât nearly good enough at reading that kind of complicated expression yet, but he seems to consider something deeply for a second. âJeez⌠You know what?â
âWhat?â
Florian stays silent, eyes wide. He mentally echoes the questionâwhat? Did Yuhua come up with a genius plan to de-escalate the situation? Or to retaliate? Please, please, say this knight in shining armor will do somethingâ
âI just remembered, Crewel needs Florian for something~â Putting on a smile that seems fake even to Florian, Yuhua switches up his mood like itâs nothing. âSorry. Maybe we can resolve this another time.â
Florian and Darren blurt out, âHuh?â at the same time.Â
âCome on. He wonât wait forever.â Yuhua pats Florian on the shoulder and uses that to quickly weave them into the crowd of students, making their escape. As much of an escape as it can be calledâtheyâre really only saved by being smaller compared to the beastman, small enough to get through the lunch line mob.
SighâŚ
To be honest, Florian was expecting something a little cooler after seeing Yuhuaâs defeat of Riddle, but as long as heâs safe for nowâŚ
â
II.
Itâs a beautiful day outside, the birds are chirping, and the flowers are blooming⌠something like that. Meanwhile, Ace could be doing something fun right now, but heâs stuck doing an assignment for potions class. Collecting ingredients in the botanical garden⌠does it get more boring than that? Someone, free him already.
At least heâs pretty sure Yuâs around here somewhere. So, once heâs done collecting a jar-ful of some plant with a name too long to memorize, heâs off to find his yellow-eyed partner in crime.
Making sure to avoid the tropical zone (Yu had warned him about a⌠uh, certain lion beastman taking naps there), Ace navigates the garden with the ease of a slightly-familiar tourist. The TA had said heâd be near the entrance, soâ
âWell? What are you just standing there for?â
âŚHuh?
Ace turns a corner on the path and is immediately greeted by a sight he probably should have expectedâa fight, or something, a commotion smack in the middle of the botanical garden.
âYouâIs there some cue Iâm missing here?â asks Yu, and Ace realizes with some horror that heâs holding a very obviously bruised cheek. Umm, what the fuck? âIs this suddenly your⌠territory, or something?â
The other guy, the one whoâd spoken earlier, crosses his arms. âNo⌠but I told you to scram already, so scram. Just seeing a magicless charity case here makes me sick.â
Magicless charity case. Itâs not the first time Ace has heard those words directed at Yu, and it definitely wonât be the last. Still, it makes his blood boil, and by the looks of it Yu is getting pretty pissed, too.Â
Ace steps forward, finding his place next to Yu. âUh, who the hell even are you?â he asks the other guy. âDonât talk to Yu like that.â
âAce?â Yu blinks. âWhat are youââ
âSee? A charity case.â The other guy tsks. âYou even need a freshman to help you out.â
No, seriously, what is this guyâs deal? What did Yu even do to warrant getting hit and treated like this? Ace swears the TA is a magnet for trouble.Â
âHeâs notââ Yu closes his mouth, and takes a deep breath. âOkay, then. Have it your way. Ace, did you get everything you needed?â
âYeah, butââ
âGreat. Letâs go.â
Even though Yu is a solid eleven or so centimeters shorter than him, Ace finds himself being dragged out of the garden by the coat lapels. He stumbles, but Yu keeps pressing forward, storming away until theyâre well out of earshot from that prick.
Finally, Yu lets go.
âWhat was that?â Ace demands, straightening his labcoat to the best of his ability.
âI donât know,â mutters Yu. âSome asshole. I donât even know his name.â
âOkay. And why did we just leave like that? He hit you, didnât he? And what he called youâyouâre just gonna let that slide?â
Ace is, to be frank, nothing short of bewildered. Doesnât Yu have any sort of dignity, a sense of, what, honor? Yes he does, Ace is pretty sure heâs seen it, so why didnât he just⌠you know⌠let himself be mad?
Yu rolls his eyes. âItâs fine. There were still other students there, you know. I didnât want to cause a scene.â
Cause aâ
âNow, can we go to the infirmary? I donât like talking to the nurse on my own.â
âYouââ
Oh, what the hell.Â
Ace doesnât get it at all, he wishes Yu would have stood up for himself, but fine. That stupid bruise wonât heal itself.
â
III.
To call the Mostro Lounge boring would be inaccurate. With a bustling population of both students and employees at most times of the day, thereâs always some entertainment to be had for Jade. Especially when heâs on the job, serving drinks and handling disputes.
But, well⌠That isnât to say he minds when thereâs a bit of additional drama. Especially on the day when Azul has asked Yuhua to cover someoneâs shift.
CRASH!
An Ignihyde student shoves the TA, although it looks like a mere accidentâa rush to get back to his well-earned seat after using the bathroom. Consequently, the drinks for their table are spilled⌠all over Yuhua, whoâs been knocked to the ground.
âWhat the hell?!â demands the student. âYou clumsy little bitchâthose were our drinks!â
Stunned, Yuhua is frozen, staring at the fallen drinks in shame. âIââ
Oh, dear. Thereâs a bit of a berth forming around them, multiple people craning their heads to look at the source of the shouting, but Jade can get a good look even from this distance.Â
âI canât believe this.â The student continues to go on a tirade, complaining about the service, about whoever let Yuhua workâand finishes off with, âWhat do you have to say for yourself?â
Oh myâwhat arrogance.Â
Jade is rather certain, actually, that this Pomefiore student was one of many who had been turned into anemones by Azul just a few weeks ago. It seems that heâs painfully unaware of how much Yuhua had sacrificed to save his sorry hide, however.
And Jade is certain that the same thought is running through Yuhuaâs mind right now, although he canât quite see his face. The TA digs his long nails into the fabric of his pants, a clear sign of suppressing anger.
Oh, dear~ Perhaps, itâs time for Jade to extend a helping handâ
Instead of fighting back, Yuhua lets out a soft sigh that blows his bangs out of his face. The action reminds Jade something of a popped balloon.
âSorry,â the pitiful TA replies, finally raising his head. His expression is neutral despite the remaining redness of his cheeks. âIâll take care of it. Youâll be rightfully compensated for this.â Said a bit despairingly, resigned.Â
It seems to appease the student, who grumbles a little more before sitting back down.Â
Yuhuaâs lips set into a thin line for a moment. He gets himself back onto his feet, only kneeling down again to collect the fallen drink glasses and tray. The other waiters make a respectful, awkward space around him as they walk by.
How⌠disappointing. Jade would have anticipated more of a fight, based on not only certain rumors but also what he had seen during Azulâs Overblot, but it seems Yuhua hadnât quite reached the boiling point just now. Instead, heâd settled for people-pleasing.
If it were me, thinks Jade with a pleasant smile on his face, I wouldnât have let that ungrateful anemone escape with all his teeth and joints intact.
But in any caseâ
âDo you need any assistance?â he asks, approaching Yuhua.
He gets a surprised look for his troubles, and a rejection. âNo, itâs okayâŚâ Yuhua smiles, laughing it off. âThe customerâs always in the right, right? Iâll handle it myself.â
Having been brushed off, Jade simply watches as Yuhua scurries back over to the kitchen counter.
Hmm. I wonder if heâs simply playing the long game, thenâŚ
IV.
Of all the places that Jamil usually expects to hear arguing, the library ranks last. Generally. Not that itâs always free from arguing, but thatâs probably on him for having even the slightest faith in NRC students.Â
Speaking of which, thatâs exactly what he hears when he enters the library one day after classes: arguing. Itâs coming from behind a shelf, so Jamil has to guess who it is based on voice alone.
âPlease quiet down.â Thatâs⌠Crewelâs assistant, Yuhua. âCrewel needs me to borrow this, okay?â
âUh, hello? Are you not good enough to be his assistant, or something? I need it more. So just hand it over already.â
Jamil stifles a sharp, stressed inhale. Thatâs a Scarabia student, no doubtâone of his former roommates. Ugh. And just when he thought he could skirt by without having to get involved. What a way to reflect poorly on our whole dormâŚ
He creeps around the side of the shelf, and what he sees confirms his well-educated guess. A student with a maroon armband towers over Yuhua, who holds a rather thick textbook in hand. The studentâs back is to Jamil, but Yuhuaâs expression is still visibleâŚ
Wait a minute. What the hell? Is⌠Is Yuhua glaring at the taller guy?
Jamil recalls a conversation heâd had with Ace just the other day: Ace had been in such a hurry to get out of practice that heâd caused multiple⌠inconveniences for others.
âYuâs gonna kill me if Iâm late for studying!â was his excuse.
âWhy are you so scared of Yuhua?â Jamil had asked. Even though Yuhua had been⌠present, for his Overblot, he still didnât quite get the control the TA seemed to have over the freshmen.Â
âYou donât get it, man,â Ace had said. âI almost pissed myself the first time Yu got seriously mad at me. You donât think anythingâs happening because heâs just narrowing his eyes at you, but itâs like toggling a lightswitch. He gets violent out of nowhere.â
At the time, Jamil had shrugged it off with his normal amount of skepticism. Even though he had proved himself able to be as two-faced and cruel as any other student in this school (Jamil never, in his life, wanted to be on the receiving end of the full Octavinelle trioâs scheming again), Yuhua still seemed too⌠docile. Too naturally passive to be like that when angry. It wasnât the first time Ace had exaggerated, either.
But now, heâs seeing all the warning signs Ace had mentioned. How Yuhua is narrowing his eyes like an irked cat. If he allows this to continue, thenâOh, great. A fight. In the library, no less. Another problem heâll have to clean up because itâs his dormâs student who likely started this mess and will inevitably get into trouble.
With a long-suffering sigh, Jamil steps forward to interveneâ
â...Okay, fine,â Yuhua concedes, although itâs a bit of a reluctant grumble. He holds out the textbook instead of bashing it over the studentâs head like Jamil had expected him to.Â
A scoff. âSee? Wasnât that hard.â
â...Right.â Yuhua turns as the student walks away, so his expression is unreadable.Â
Huh.
Jamil stares blankly for a few moments. That⌠did not go as he expected, at all.Â
So much for âexplosive anger,â really. Yuhua had just given up.
Well, whatever. Jamil will just chalk it up to Aceâs overdramatic nature and think nothing of it. As long as it was resolved peacefully without needing him to risk grey hairsâŚ
V.
When Vil calls for a rare water break, Rook takes the opportunity to observe the NRC Tribeâs stiffest fledglings.Â
Today, again, theyâve taken on pirouettes in a corner where they can still see the mirror. Certainly, it makes for quite a sight: the normally-withdrawn TA trying to instruct two freshmen who have likely never seen a true ballet performance in their lives.
Rook had known Yuhua had a history in dance and music from the startâthere was a clear lift to his chin and in his posture when he didnât feel insecure, holding himself high and sitting on the edge of every seat. He walked with a slight turnout, and was light on his feet; not to mention the controlled expressiveness of his hands. However, the TA didnât seem to enjoy flaunting these facts, making moments like these all the more enjoyable.Â
âEpel.â Yuhua frowns, a little soft and yet a little frustrated. âAre you trying?â
The Pomefiore freshman bites the inside of his lower lip. âUh, wellâŚâ
A sigh. âThatâs about what I thought. Vil and I arenât asking much: just a clean single so you can master the basics.â Yuhua crosses his arms. âIs something on your mind?â
âI justâŚâ Epel grimaces. âI still donât get it. Whatâs so manly about any of this turning?â
Ah, there it is again.
Rook does not intervene, continuing to observe, even though he can see Yuhuaâs eyes briefly twitch into narrowing and his lips press into a strained smile. Any dancer would start to lose it after yet another generalization of their field, especially an ignorantly derogatory one. After multiple generalizations, in fact.
Like any trained performer, however, he smooths it down. That self-control is beautiful in its own right, no matter how strained.
âManly, huhâŚ?â
Epel yelps as Yuhua, deceptively calm, grabs his arm to adjust it.
âYour elbows are too stiff. Donât interrupt the line; make them look round and effortless.â A tap to Epelâs back. âDonât lean forward when you pliĂŠ, youâre not about to break into a sprint; if your pelvis isnât under you, then youâll be off-balance when you turn.â And then, a nudge to the underside of Epelâs chin. âDonât look at the ground. Look at yourself in the mirror. Keep your chin level so you can spot properly.â
The foundational advice is given almost clinically, automatically. Rook watches with keen interest as Yuhua withholds the same kind of scathing strictness Vil would have easily dished out, even though this must be the second or third time heâs had to say these things to Epel.Â
âDeuce,â Yuhua asks levelly, âdid you hear everything I just said?â To the trained ear, it sounds like a test, an I am on my last straw so there is only one correct answer here.
Thankfully, one of his students is more eager to learn than the other. âYes!â is the earnest reply from the two of spades, who is already adjusting his posture after listening with the utmost dedication.
âThank you.â Yuhua turns back to Epel. âWe donât have a lot of time. Just focus on improving for the SDC, okay?â
Epel bristles at being treated like a child, but nods.Â
A smile spreads across Rookâs face. Ahh, the liveliness of a dancer and his mentees at work
âRook.â Vilâs voice snaps him out of his momentary reverie. âLetâs continue practicing.â
Right. Duty calls.
 âOf course~â
VI.
By now, Floyd had noticed, most people were learning to steer clear of starting shit with Yu. On top of him making more friends, on top of the (true) rumors that heâd Overblotted, most people had probably just accepted his presence.
(It also probably helped that Floyd regularly finds great joy in standing behind Yu and scaring off anyone who tried to be a problem.)
But, even thenâŚÂ
Some people donât take the hint.
Floyd doesnât know how or why it started, only that when he walks into the courtyard of the main school building, thereâs someone yelling at Yu like itâs his Seven-given right. Itâs so loud, like a dogâs yapping. So annoying.
Bark, bark, bark. Floyd doesnât listen to the full thing because itâs not worth his time, but it feels like it goes on for forever. To the point where people are gathering like itâs some kind of show, heads turning.
What a serious mood killer. Maybe Floyd should get involved, start a fight. Let everyone have a piece of this idiot. It doesnât look like Yu will: heâs just standing there, silent, suffering quietly like he usually would.
âWhatâs wrong, cat got your tongue?â taunts the nasally little offender. Of course, heâs the worst breed of cowardâonly able to say these things once Yu is on his lonesome. âNo oneâs here to defend you now, huh? Arenât you gonna say something?â
Silence.
âWell?â
âHaaahâŚâ Yu closes his eyes. âIâm seriously sick of your shit.â
âHuhââ
Thatâs the only thing the yapper can get out before Yu grabs him by the face. His fingers dig into the personâs cheeks, the palm of his hand conveniently muffling any complaints. If looks could kill, heâd be a murderer.Â
âDidnât you hear me the first time? I said Iâm sick and tired of your bullshit!â Yu shouts. He angrily tightens his grip. âListen, buddy, I donât know who the hell you think you areâI donât know who half the people at this school think they areâbut someone needs to humble you, desperately. Have you heard yourself?âÂ
His voice reaches a high, mocking pitch: âOhhh, no! Thereâs a magicless person at my school, but I think I deserve to be hot shit because I can make a few pathetic sparks with my magic! Iâm gonna pick on him to assert my nonexistent dominance because I think he looks like a weak doormat!
âYeah, well, womp fuckinâ womp. Being chosen by the Dark Mirror doesnât mean anything. Youâre just a copy-and-paste of every other small fry Iâve met at this school. Ego in the clouds, even though your performance is so bad that you reek of failed contracts and the threat of being held back. Am I right?â Yu scoffs without waiting for an answer. âGrow the fuck up already. Arenât you embarrassed? Donât you have any respect for anyone?âÂ
He lets go with a shove, pushing the previously-confident person to the ground. Yuâs heel finds a nice spot to rest on the studentâs chest and send a message.
âDo us all a favor and actually have the bite to back up your bark next time. Youâre making a fool out of yourself.â
And even after yelling like that, Yu walks away like itâs nothing.
Oh, Sea Witch. Floyd feels ready and raring to kick ass again.Â
That was great.
â
(bonus:
Riddle has no idea how he ended up in this situation, but here he is. Having ended up next to Floyd, watching Yuhua curse a student out.
For good reason, of course. But Riddle didnât even know that the TA had that in him.
â...Well.â Riddle turns to leaveâthatâs enough of enjoying the âshowâ for today. He makes to weave his way out of the crowd thatâs gathered, but something makes him pause. He looks up.
Thereâs a dumb, dopey, lovestruck look on Floydâs face. Thatâs the only way Riddle can think to describe his smile, mismatched eyes following after the exiting Yuhua.
âŚwhat can he even say in this situation? Riddle stifles an embarrassed grimace and walks away.)
