This was originally a request from a friend but I figured I might as well post here coz I think it’s too funny
Audio: Berlioz, Symphonie Fantastique Mvt. 4. March to the Scaffold
Would highly recommend listening to the whole track coz it’s a banger but also it’s literally the composer having an opium-induced fever dream about him getting his head lopped off at the guillotine so
#genshin impact#focalors#neuvillette#I’m not sorry#this whole thing spawned from me ranting about Fontaine’s OST for like the nth time#for context I’m a classical musician and while I don’t think Fontaine’s music is necessarily bad#and I get what Hoyomix was aiming for#the direction they chose just frustrates me so much that I could probably scream about it for a good ten minutes or so#again not saying Hoyomix is bad I love their stuff too it just#FRSUTRATES ME#that the nation primarily inspired by what I’m assuming is Belle epoque France#fails to capitalise off of using French romantic composers from the era#and yes I know they said they’ve used Saint-Saëns#Ravel and Faure but I can’t hear it outside of the original Travail motif which was repurposed to just Arlecchino’s#and no imitation compositional technique isn’t making it super obvious either#but somehow we get a lot of Russian and Soviet composers#and I LOVE their stuff#but I was expecting Shostakovich and Stravinsky for SNEZHNAYA NOT FONTAINE#and also Khachaturian while we’re at it#SERIOUSLY WHY IS THERE A SUPER STRAVINSKY SOUNDNING TRACK IN SOME FRENCH CAVES#for reference the track is Magick Without Tears#I mean if we got Chopin at least question mark#but the dude is still Polish and famously homesick despite living in France#but seriously how did we get fricking Le Mer referenced in INAZUMA BUT NOT FONTAINE#no track names alluding to Debussy’s famous works don’t count either we could’ve had La Cathedral Engloutie underwater or something likE#IMAGINE#*cathedrale oops#and don’t get me started on how one of the few references I can find to French Impressionism is just Satie’s gymnopedie#and they named it Gymnopedie too LIKE#or any reference in the OST to the operas in Furina’s constellations like those are som serious bangers

Wednesday Wanderings and Wonderings - Fontaine Stravinsky
After 18 months of repair the colorful fountain is back.
It is also called the Fountain of Automatons. It is located near Centre Pompidou. These sculptures were commissioned by the Mayor of Paris Jacques Chirac. It was created by Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle in 1983. This fountain is a tribute to the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky. There are 16 amusing or poetic sculptures that come to life on the water basin. Jean Tinguely chose black and steel and Nicky de Saint Phalle worked with fiberglass, polyester and color. Motors and water are used to set the sculptures in motion.

Adjacent to the southern side of the Center Pompidou, in Igor Stravinsky Square, between bustling cafes and an impressive Gothic church named after Saint Mary, there is a lovely and special fountain, with strange colored water sculptures designed by the sculptor Niki de Saint Paul. Other elements in the fountain are designed by Jean Tingley. This charming place rightfully attracts the crowds of tourists touring the area. In the photo: the fountain after renovation, looks quite photogenic. The Stravinsky Fountain (French: La Fontaine Stravinsky) is a whimsical public fountain ornamented with sixteen works of sculpture, moving and spraying water, representing the works of composer Igor Stravinsky. It was created in 1983 by sculptors Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle, and is located on Place Stravinsky, next to the Centre Pompidou, in Paris.

Renewed Glitter for Paris Fountains

Renewed Glitter for Paris Fountains
Tumblr media
Are you someone who uses the Saint-Michel Fountain as a convenient meeting spot that no one can overlook? Do you make a quick stop at a Wallace Fountain to refill your water bottle as you pass by? Or maybe you take a moment on a hot day in the Place Saint-Sulpice to appreciate the water cascading down onto the lions surrounding its central fountain? Fountains play a significant role in the charm of Parisian streets, and some of the most iconic ones are currently undergoing cleaning and renovation as part of the Plan Fontaine initiated by the City of Paris to restore them to their former glory.
The Stravinsky Fountain, located next to the Centre Pompidou, recently underwent a two-year restoration and cleanup, marking the first restoration in its 40-year history. The vibrant sculptures, such as a bright blue clown’s hat and a twisting snake, now gleam as they move and rotate over the water, particularly captivating on sunny days when the 33-meter basin shines. This fountain complements the adjacent Centre Pompidou and provides a striking contrast to the nearby 16th-century Saint Merri Church, attracting both intentional visitors and passing observers.
Tumblr media
The fountain’s design dates back to 1983, shortly after the contemporary Centre Pompidou replaced some of the traditional streets of Les Halles. The whimsical sculptures were placed in a walled rectangular basin to create a colorful and joyful urban environment and serve as a conversation starter.
Tumblr media
A meticulous restoration has also been undertaken on the Fontaine des Innocents, a historic landmark in the Les Halles area. This extensive project aimed to restore the fountain, originated in 1549 to commemorate Henri II’s royal entry into Paris, to its former glory, emphasizing its significance in the city’s history.
Tumblr media
The Place de la Concorde is now home to two majestic fountains, Fontaine des Mers and Fontaine des Fleuves, recently restored to their former grandeur. These fountains celebrate the themes of the sea and France’s great rivers, embodying the city’s elegance and historical significance.
Tumblr media
Furthermore, other notable fountains in Paris, such as the Fontaine Saint-Michel and the Fontaine Saint-Sulpice, are also scheduled for deep cleaning. These fountains represent historical and cultural significance and add to the city’s aesthetic appeal.
Tumblr media
Ultimately, the restoration and maintenance of these fountains contribute to the beauty and heritage of Paris, offering residents and visitors alike the chance to appreciate these historical landmarks while passing through the city.

Like Melissa Xania loved exploring Paris and when the others were too tired she would happily walk around and see the sites by herself. Although she remained cautious she was so happy when Paris came out of the lockdown following the coronavirus epidemic. Here she is at the Fontaine Stravinsky facing the Centre Georges Pompidou (otherwise known as Beauborg). Behind Xania you see the actual Fontaine Stravinsky and behind that is L'Eglise Saint Merri. Afterwards Xania went for a drink in one of the many reopened Cafes nearby before returning back to the apartment to recount her adventures to the others.
