Eleanor Roosevelt, the U.S. delegate to the United Nations, prepares her speech before morning session of the General Assembly at Flushing Meadow, April 25, 1949. The U.N. had its headquarters there, Corona Park, Queens, from 1946 until its permanent buildings in Manhattan were ready for occupancy in 1950.

#GovBallNYC Part One
Dear Photography, I have a confession to make, my love. I’ve cheated on the game! Lol. The weekend before last… I… shot everything in automatic!!
Oh the Horror! Lmfao!
That’s right! I turned my aperture wheel all the way to ‘Program’ and called it a day. Judge your mother!
Tumblr media
June 7th marks my first time going to a music festival. My brother and I accompanied two of my close friends to Governors Ball & we had a blast. I told myself a few weeks ago that I would only be documenting the day on film. I still attempted to pack my 7D with the 24-70 but the weight on my back pack was unacceptable!! Therefore Se7ven (all my cameras have names) had to miss this outing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I packed both my analog cameras along with 3 or 4 brand new rolls of film and was on my way!
Tumblr media
Me and Rudy arrived in Queens to meet Yadira and Gabi around 1:40pm. The day had already gone through multiple stages of weather, opening with some heavy rain in the morning, cold winds, and ultimately being cloudy for a few hours. So after missing a handful of frames due to fumbling around making sure all my settings were correct, I decided to put my pride aside and go straight to ‘Program’ mode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now in the world of photography, at least from what I was taught, no photographer ever opts for shooting in automatic mode, buuuuuuut, come on! Give me a freakin break, adjusting for every single shot trying to keep up with an event that’s already moving at the speed of light.. ain’t nobody got time for that. Lol
These were the winning shots from the roll of Kodak Gold shot on the A1. More photos coming up on Part Two

Photography: New York State Pavilion 4/25/23
Photography: New York State Pavilion 4/25/23 @AllianceForFMCP @FMCP_NYC @NYCParks
Earlier this week, I attended the Queens Rising second anniversary launch at Queens Museum. (More on that a bit later.) But in the meantime, because it was a lovely Spring morning and afternoon, and I already had my camera out, I took the opportunity to take some photos. I love the New York State Pavilion: Besides the fact that it’s historical, whenever I’ve traveled, it’s always a fond reminder…

A Triple Headliner of Fun: Def Leppard, Journey and Steve Miller Band Unleash Good Times on Citi Field
Tumblr media
Def Leppard/Journey/Steve Miller Band – Citi Field – August 7, 2024
I mean, who can resist it: a triple shot of classic tunes everybody knows, steamy outdoor weather, the ballpark, this-is-working-for-me vibes all over the place? Def Leppard, Journey, Steve Miller Band. A triple headliner. What you thought you were going to get was exactly what you got, and it was dead-of-summer dopamine.

At Citi Field on Wednesday evening, the fun got started early with the Miller Band. Miller, at 80, looks and sounds positively ageless — affable as ever in both vocal delivery and banter. He and the band rolled through the classics — stopping only for a quick story about a mentor, Les Paul — from “Swingtown,” “Fly Like an Eagle” and “Abracadabra” to “Jet Airliner” and “The Joker.” Best of all was an extra-choogling “Take the Money and Run,” which opened to guitar and keyboard solos.

Journey took a similar tack, building energy over the course of a 90-minute set that had an early peak with the big-stadium ballads (“Faithfully,” “Open Arms”) and closed with a murderer’s row of radio staples: “Lights,” “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart),” “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Any Way You Want It.” Comfortable and confident mining a rich vocal legacy, Arnel Pineda, the touring band’s vocalist since 2007, is no longer “the new singer.” Neal Schon, as the last remaining original band member, was also all smiles, digging into the big, crunchy Journey riffs that sound as familiar as traffic sounds in the city.

Def Leppard were last in the row and worked the stage real estate, including four songs on an extended stage. It was all heading to the big “Pour Some Sugar on Me” climax — and it got there, and pow — but the show before that prowled all over their catalog, emphasizing the Hysteria and Pyromania album rosters with about six songs from each. They too were a precision machine — on time, packed tight, well managed — but like Journey and Miller didn’t feel workmanlike in the least, joyed to rock out with the throngs. —Chad Berndtson | @Cberndtson

#GovBallNYC Part Two
Now in the world of photography, at least from what I was taught, no photographer ever opts for shooting in automatic mode, buuuuuuut, come on! So while I’m definitely an advocate for manual shooting, I decided if it works for big name photographers that tour with artists, shooting in automatic is something I’ll be forgiven for.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However! Shooting in automatic didn't get in the way of experimenting or keep me from having fun. Just a few days before the festival I picked a roll of CineStill 400D. I absolutely loved it! It gives you the same halation effect as the 800T and has such a satisfying, bluish pinkish hue that creates the perfect vibe for each frame, as can be seen in the double exposure you see at the top of this post. I'm very happy with how that shot turned out!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A large amount of the photos I took on Sunday were of my friends rather than the show or the people at it but I’m still happy with what I got. I mean I never got close enough to the front of the stage anyway, so these photos of a million hands holding phones in the air are about the best you’ll get out of me. Lmao.
Tumblr media
This roll of CineStill 400D (which I almost lost in the crowd at the Peso Pluma performance) was shot on my trusty AE-1 Program, and is the first of what I'm very sure will be many!
