I made a playlist for every month in 2023
I mean you read the title :/
Okay but fr, Last year I decided to to an ongoing art project of sorts where I would pick a song each day to add to a playlist of the month.
Rules for this included no repeat songs in any of the playlist, meaning altogether I have complied 365 unique songs representing my year.
I didn't really have any plans to do anything with it besides just look at in awe and think art how cool ig I am for actually committing to that for a whole year. But, now that I a starting my second year on 'song diaries' as I have dubbed them I thought it would be fun to document all this nonsense somewhere.
Which leads me to this: tbh I have 0 expectations of anyone reading this but me so here! This is my January 2023 playlist:
Now a disclaimer before listening this is 100% my taste in music and is all over the place. I have no defense for the amount of k pop and MCR made it onto these.
Oh before you go I also forgot to mention I also made a playlist that I am adding my top 5 songs from each month to!
For a lot of these playlists, songs were added for very specific reasons so I thought it would be fun to do a kind of 'awards'!
SO for January my top 5 songs are!
Party Poison- My Chemical Romance
Like I said, I don't have a defense. It is what it is. and what it is is that this was was and always will be a bop. This song never fails to get me pumped. Like I don't even have to explain that the vocals on this are fabulous and the instrumental is ON from start to finish. It's MCR they don't miss.
2. Eden- Sub-Radio
Okay, this fucking song had me in a headlock last January. Idk what crack is in it but it will worm its way into your brain until you listen to in on repeat for a few days. The upbeat pop sound and the lead singers voice just reel you in. I stg I listened to this song so much it managed to get a pretty solid rank 35 on my Spotify wrapped.
3. Strange Love- Simple Creatures
Idek what to say about this song. If you don't know who Simple Creatures are you are seriously missing out. Its the stage name for two EPs released by Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 and Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low. And when I say that their discography is NO SKIP. It is very likely that more of their music will make this list, however this song dominated my January.
4. The Haunting (Acoustic)- Set it Off
This track made this list because it is perfect to feel a certain sorta way real fast. Like Idk maybe it's the recovering emo kid in me that knows every word to many of Set it Off's classic songs that just loves this version so much. It doesn't so too much, it is just right imo. If you like being able to scream-sing along to semi cringe emo lyrics with a sick beat or if you've got a bitch ass ex who didn't deserve you this song if for you.
5. Warm Blood- Flor
This was my crying song this time last year. And man, does it still hit. When I was re-listening to this playlist to pick a top 5 I immediately knew this had to be on the list, it just brought back too many memories. Such an emotional track. Beautifully sung vocals and overall great listening experience. Love this group and all their songs but this one in particular is special.
Okay Ig that's enough for now. Idk if I will post my February playlist or song choices or anything...we'll see :)

'Ello!! Idk what genre your sister is looking for specifically, but here's some stuff I would recommend! (its kinda big sorry)
edit: "O Sol Raiou" and "Já Passou" from O Grilo's new album are very similar to Onde Flor, maybe she'll like them! (Honestly their whole discography bangs but these are the most similar ones)
Old/Classic MPB (Brazilian popular music)
Classic MPB artists I would recommend (and some of my fav songs from them)
- Chico Buarque - "Roda Viva" + "Cotidiano"
- Tim Maia - "Azul Da Cor Do Mar" + "O Descobridor Dos Sete Mares"
- Rita Lee - "Lança Perfume" + "Erva Venenosa"
- Tom Jobim - "Chega de Saudade"
- Cartola - "As Rosas Não Falam"
For some newer stuff, I recommend "O Grilo" ( kinda indie rock I think) and "Terno Rei"; they have similar vibes
Here is a playlist I have with songs in brazilian portuguese that I like; be warned, it's all over the place
sorry for the long post I like way too many songs to just recommend one
Hiiii I'm looking for Brazilian Portuguese songs for my sister, if anyone has any recommendations

🎶 Share 5 songs you actually listen to and then tag some followers (and people you just like) you want to know better 🎶
tagged by @smythecriminal omg angie i missed you, babe
i’m gonna put the five songs i got stuck in my head lately:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6101ad8820e3426b6a35bbe64536d011/54097210eab02006-4e/s540x810/749edcb531e0732f2ca48c50cc1372727871978b.jpg)
i. age of man - greta van fleet
which sucks to get stuck in your head because i don’t have josh's amazing vocals so i can’t sing it out loud
ii. omg - newjeans
their entire discography is stuck in my head but omg is just so damn catchy and i’m obsessed with it
iii. un beso y una flor - alfredo oviedo
i love his version so much but especially his style omg go watch his live perfomance
iv. shakira bzrp music session, vol 53.
i recall the one night i could not fall asleep because this song stuck in my head kept me awake, it was torture (i love this song too much, zurdo knows)
v. heroine - sunmi
i don’t even know why it came back to my head, i have not even been listening to it lately but i don’t complain, a bop it is.

I really love Mitski, Wsshing Machine Heart and Nobody are very special to me :3. I also really love Strawberry Blonde & Me and my husband. I enjoy Conan Grey a lot, Comfort crowd is one of my faves. I also like Space Girl, by Frances Forever, Say so by Doja Cat. I also LOVE Do It by Chloe x Halle. Way Down by MØ. Also Janelle Monae.
A lot of the music on my playlists are very 'soft' and im looking for something harder, and I'm not really sure how to describe it. I did hear a BT/S song and liked the general vibe, but i dislike the band bc ive heard theyre very antiblack, but i do like what I heard so far so im pretty interested in kpop as a genre :)
Okay so some of this music I had to listen to for the first time, but I got you. Sort of. I'm taking all of this music into consideration at once because you cast a fairly broad net and I don't want to get too bogged odwn in going X Song of Mine = Y Song of yours.
I just scrolled through all my music by artist so uh
this got long
i;m sorry
Physical by The Aces, kinda poppier than you listed but still some gay girls making some indie pop-rockish music
Maybe try Runner by Alex G. I haven't listened to much Conan Grey so maybe I thought of this song when you mentioned him
Start It Up by Alex Mali, very sliick R&B with ethereal vocals. Check out the rest of this EP, tbh
Lovergirl by Andrea Valle is a bit more wavey but I think if you like Chloe X Halle this is... adjacent to that that but a bit more experimental
Lark by Au Revoir Simone has some of that sad girl crying on a synth vibe
Un Village by Baekhyun is Kpop, is both hard and soft, but has a focus on vocals that i see across your music taste
Maybe Fire Escape by Beach Bunny?
Actually I'm going through my music alphabetically and let me say if you like Chloe X Halle please listen to like... all of Beyonce's discography. She is like... the OG. I give you no specific song... just... explore, enjoy
Motospeed 24 by Bibi--she's kpop but more R&B inspired and has a lot of that vocal work I think you'll like. She can get dark and gritty
Your Light by The Big Moon, kinda poppy, kinda guitary. Pleasant
Luna by Bombay Bicycle Club--something you're less likely to stumble on as it's a bit older but it has the kinda poppy, indie rocky sound. This one is more of a reach
Forgive Me by Boa. I wanted to put Boa somewhere, because she's essential kpop me, and this is her song that feels the most "hard" BTS to me. Not a track that's indicative of most of her discography though
Just... all Bree Runway. Start with Somebody like You or All Night, which are more immediately in your wheel house
Western Wind by Carly Rae Jepsen, listen to the entire album this is from
Welcome to my Island by Caroline Polachek
HWA by CL is a bit harder kpop. Is dancier than previous kpop listing on this track
Stressed by Doechii, again more of the R&B stuff but she's GOOD. If you like this, also check out Persuasive
BOCA by Dreamcatcher, they do a lot of "harder" kpop but also have softer vocals as contrast.
An obviously Mitski-adjacent rec is Crush by Ethel Cain
Alternative to BTS: Exo!!! IDK what BTS song you liked, so it's hard to give direct alternaives but try: Monster, Tempo, The Eve, and I think Overdose is essential listening for them
I already forgot what the Conan Grey song you linked to sounded like, which makes this a bad rec based off it, but try back again by flor
MØ did a song with foster the people (blur, good song). Foster the people is one of my fave bands. None sound quite like way down but maybe try Pick U Up. Sit Next to Me is one of their song with the widest general appeal.
Undo by Heize. More kpop that isn't hard but I think based off your interest in Chloe x Halle... AND Doja Cat... thi sis a good middle place
Layin Low by Hyolyn. Sounds more like western R&B but... kpop
Be Mine by Infinite. NGL this has nothing to do with any of your songs, I just think it's essential kpop. The Chaser might be a closer BTS alternative
If you like Janelle Monae, make sure you don't miss her collab with Jidenna "Yoga." Telling a man to bend over... yes Janelle I love you
More by K/DA is a bit "harder"
Come In by Kai, I think based on your Conan Grey + Kpop interest, this might hit for you
Red Moon by KARD is a bit harder kpop, they have harder tracks but the instrumental here (and in a lot of their songs) has connective tissue with the song way down you mentioned
IDK what BTS song you listened to, so, again, Gasoline by Key is maybe the song I could more easily correlate with them. But Key is an eSSENTIAL kpop listen, so if you don't like this track, try others! Throw a dart at any track, it's good
This is a shot in the dar... by try Bedroom Eyes by The Knocks & The STudio Killers. Or look into any of The Knocks collabs with foster the people like their collab "ride or die"
LUNA from f(x) did a cover of "Say So" but her best song is "Free Somebody" which doesn't sound much like say so but give it a shot!
I feel like if you haven't heard much music, you probs don't know Marina, which is PROBABLY for the best, btu she was like... filling the void Mitski would later fill. Her older stuff is good. I am not a robot might be a nice place to start.
Another shot in the dark... try River by Mattis
All In by Monsta X is harder kpop and reminds me of what older BTS aspired to be. Try Shine Forever and Miss You a well
This is ALSO out of left field... try Heaven's Only Wishful by Mormor. Softer and different than the music you posted, but I think it's on the periphery of your taste and amybe you'll want to explore
Dark Doo Wop by MS MR comes to mind when I think of Mitski and idk why. Try it out
Listen to Come by Namie Amuro. It's jpop and it doesn't SOUND like say so but I think it taps into some of the asme energy.
This is Why by Paramore. Jump into Paramore's new album and celebrate with us all as it comes out soon!
Going by the MO inclusion, try out PVRIS. Just try a song or two from each album. Maybe start with Death of Me.
1-800-MLKYWAY by Rakiyah. She also has more Korean heavy tracks liek Like You or The Invitation.
I can't think of what Red Velvet track to rec to you just know that they are the pinnacle of kpop to me
One on 5 by Rico Nasty. Don't know why the way down track makes me think of htis but here we are
Same for Red Velvet: I think of Shinee as some of hte best kpop has to offer. Don't Call Me might be the most BTS-adjacent but isn't the best they have by a long shot. Listen to their song "View" and if you like that, I can rec you more
Listen to Jopping by SuperM i fyou want to be up to date on Kpop Memes because this one never dies but I prefer theri song I can't Stand the Rain
Idea by Taemin (a member of both Shinee and SuperM) goes pretty hard
If you liked the Tiger Woods track I mentioned in the last ask before, also try Mean Girls by her
Naturally by Tinashe, her entire 333 album really
im just rly into no one does from love by tove lo rn, check it out
you'll run into a lot of twice songs if you get into kpop, get loud is one of my fave less common ones
Scentist by Vixx is better than most BTS songs. Error is great too.
Try the WOnder Girl's album "Reboot." I have a suspicion about this
and i went overboard but i think that's it. i got distracted a lot doing this sorry

My Top 10 Albums of 2020
Now that the longest and craziest year in history is finally over, I figured now would be a good time to reflect and look back at some positive things from 2020. Despite concerts and tours being cancelled, and many bands and artists postponing albums due to not being able to promote them, there was a lot of really fantastic music released this year. Here are some of my favorites!
Honorable Mention: Money Money 2020 Part II by The Network
Green Day members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool (plus some friends) brought back an old side project from 2003 this year called The Network. This album is a follow up to their debut album Money Money 2020, and was a huge surprise. I wasn’t sure where to put it on my top 10 list, but I still wanted to talk about it because it ended up being much better than the actual Green Day record we got this year. They experiment with lots of different sounds on this album, and while some of them are definitely meant to be satire, there are some seriously great songs on here that give me hope that future Green Day albums could be much better.
Favorite Song: Fentanyl
Now, on to the top 10:
#10 Last Room by waveform*
The first of many surprise additions to the list, Last Room is a really great album stocked full of songs that are all pretty short, but each stands out on its own. waveform* is really good at making songs that capture the listener’s attention. This is definitely a band that I want to hear more of, and I’m excited to dive deeper into their discography this year!
Favorite Song: Miner’s Lullaby
#9 Petals For Armor by Hayley Williams
After years of being in Paramore, Hayley Williams has finally released her first solo album! Paramore’s 2017 album After Laughter experimented with lots of different sounds, and was also a very personal record lyrically, so it’s no surprise that Hayley took a similar approach here. These songs are a way for her to open up about her life and branch out more and she succeeds on this record. Even if you’re not a fan of Paramore I highly recommend checking this one out.
Favorite Song: Why We Ever
#8 Some Still Morning by Handsome Ghost
I’ve already talked a bit about this album (it was even my first review on this blog!) but I feel like the more I’ve listened to it, the more I’ve started to love the songs that first stuck out to me. I still feel like some of the songs sound a bit too similar, but when the duo branch out and try new things on this record, it’s some of their best work.
Favorite Song: Christmas In Jersey
#7 Healer by Grouplove
Something that has always been true about Grouplove’s music is that it is insanely catchy, and this holds true with their newest record Healer. I’ve liked a lot of their music before, but for some reason this album connected with me on a way that their other music hasn’t. I feel like this album came out at the perfect time for me, because it has a lot of themes about growing up and dealing with the crazy world we live in. If you’ve never listened to Grouplove and want to check them out, I think that Healer is definitely a good starting place.
Favorite Song: Hail to the Queen
#6 Folklore by Taylor Swift
I’ve had a history of really disliking Taylor Swift’s music, especially her earlier albums. I guess for those it was due to overexposure, but with some of her more recent albums (especially 2013′s Red) I actually found there were certain songs I actually liked. Her albums as a whole, however, have always felt bogged down by their singles which often don’t sound like they fit with the rest of the album. When I heard she had announced an album coming out that night, I was very curious. After listening to it, Folklore fixed every issue I’ve had with her previous albums, and I love how she’s shifted her lyrics to focus on telling stories. I didn’t expect a Taylor Swift album to end up on my top 10 list for any year, but 2020 was definitely full of surprises!
Favorite Song: Seven
#5 Possession by Joywave
I had discovered Joywave one day on YouTube by accident, and immediately wanted to hear more from them. Their songs are always so unique and creative, and after seeing them open up for Bastille in October 2019, I got really excited for their third album. They have incredible energy on stage, and that energy is reflected perfectly in their music, especially on this album. It was one of my most anticipated records of 2020, and it seriously lived up to the hype.
Favorite Song: Half Your Age
#4 Figure by Into It. Over It
Yet another accidental discovery, Figure blew me away the first time I listened to it. I was immediately drawn in from the first track, and each song delivers something truly special. I had to listen to this album all the way through multiple times to really take it all in. I planned on doing a full review of it here, but felt I needed to look into the lyrics and the meanings behind the songs a little more to fully understand it. Now, Into It. Over It has been on repeat for a good chunk of the past couple months. Evan Thomas Weiss is an incredible songwriter and really talented musician, and I seriously recommend checking out his music.
Favorite Song: Brushstrokes
#3 Leave What’s Lost Behind by Colony House
Colony House are a band that I discovered a few years ago, and their first two albums quickly became favorites of mine.Their intriguing instrumentals along with Caleb Chapman’s powerful vocals make their music really fun to listen to, and like Joywave they put on a fantastic show even when they’re just the opening act. I had been looking forward to the follow up to 2017′s Only The Lonely, and this record definitely lived up to my expectations, even if I prefer the latter album a little more. There are definitely some incredible songs here, a few of which are among the best in Colony House’s discography.
Favorite Song: The Hope Inside
#2 Zeros by Declan McKenna
For whatever reason, I didn’t listen to this album when it first came out, but when I did eventually get around to listening to it I fell in love. Declan McKenna has always been a really great songwriter, but this album in particular shows just how talented the 22 year old singer is. Blending sounds from different eras of rock along with some more modern production, Zeros is an absolute masterpiece of an album.
Favorite Song: Twice Your Size
#1 Dreamland by COIN
Even though Zeros got really close to taking the number one spot, my personal favorite of the year is still COIN’s third album Dreamland (not to be confused with the Glass Animals album of the same name also from 2020). COIN is a band that just keeps on getting better, and even after losing a member back in 2018, they’ve still managed to grow and improve their sound. Dreamland takes everything I’ve loved about COIN’s music and adds to it. If you haven’t listened to this album and are a fan of indie pop bands like Flor, Smallpools and Young the Giant, then you should definitely give this album a listen!
Favorite Song: Nobody’s Baby
Thank you for checking out my list of my favorite albums from this past year! I’d love to know what you guys think and if we have any of the same albums on our list :)

top 5 artists you want to listen to but haven't gotten around to yet
Ooh! This is a good one, and a hard one because there are so many.
The National: Matt Berninger was on a CHVRCHES song last year and I’ve been curious ever since. Sleep Well Beast is currently saved in my Spotify library, and I love “I’ll Still Destroy You.”
Lostboycrow: I stumbled across their debut album Santa Fe and it’s been on my back burner ever since. Also, they’re opening for flor on tour.
Noname: There’s so much hype around Room 25 that I might as well give it a shot.
Marika Hackman: I need to catch up on her past discography before her new album drops.
Still Woozy: I’ve heard some good things about him, and I’ve been looking for more artists with that indie/bedroom pop kind of sound.

what's flor?
anon, you have no idea how glad i am that you asked me this.. ahem..
flor is an american indie band formed in 2014 currently signed under fueled by ramen. their sound is described as dream / indie / alternative pop rock.
a few songs i recommend you listen to are:
slow motion | yt | spotify - i cant even explain this one to you it feels like sitting in long grass watching someone you love dance
dancing around | yt | spotify - indisputably the best song off their new album i know this because nom and i said so. this one feels like you and the person you love are dancing together in the long grass
no more time | yt | spotify - this time you’re running through the field with tears running down your face because of a lost love you dont even remember
back again | yt | spotify - this is the song that got me into flor and for a good reason. most everyone i haven shown this song immediately forms a bond with it. it is an old friend you miss from high school. it’s missing the bus with your friends at midnight and laughing it off. i literally used this as a bg song for my end of grade 12 friendship video
get behind this | yt | spotify - oh, this song gives me joy, gives me hope
where do you go yt | spotify - im gonna give you the direct meaning from legends flor themself: “is a song I wrote when I was inspired by wonderful people who showed and shared so much love that I couldn’t help but sing about it. It’s a request to understand and know where they get that love”.
anyways listen to all their songs im not kidding them and day6. golden discography and thats that
