[Album + Video] Gotts Street Park kündigen Debütalbum "On The Inside" an!

Mit der neuen Single "Got To Be Good" kündigen Gotts Street Park ihr Debütalbum "On The Inside" an, das am 13. Oktober über Blue Flowers veröffentlicht wird.

Das Debüt "On The Inside" ist ein Einblick in die Welt der Gruppe aus Leeds, die sich in den letzten Jahren ständig erweitert hat. Was als Ventil für ihre gemeinsame Liebe zu Motown-Songs aus den Sechzigern begann, entwickelte sich schnell zu einem Projekt, bei dem einige der aufregendsten und aufstrebendsten Stimmen des Hip-Hop und Pop nach und nach um Zusammenarbeit baten: Celeste, Kali Uchis, Yellow Days und Rachel Chinouriri sind nur einige der Acts, für die die Band individuell geschrieben und produziert hat. Im Jahr 2021 veröffentlichte das Trio "Diego", eine cineastische EP, die von "Der Pate" und den Werken des japanischen Regisseurs Yasujirō Ozu inspiriert ist.

Mit ihrem lässigen Mix aus Vintage-Soul und R&B wird die neueste Single "Got To Be Good" von Pip Milletts rauem und leidenschaftlichem Gesang belebt. Von den ersten Tönen an tauchen wir in eine weitere idyllische Gotts Street Park-Kulisse ein, während Milletts Stimme über verspielte Gitarren und Keys reist und sich unter pochenden Bässen und klackernden Drums aus der Dunkelheit und Traurigkeit heraussingt. „Whenever we’ve been in the room with Pip, it’s pretty free and fruitful”, erzählen Gotts Street Park über die gemeinsame Zusammenarbeit. „When a song comes together like this, we don’t overthink it or alter the final take too much and just hope to have the same energy come through to the listener as we felt in the room creating it.”

Stockholm songwriter Flikka used her single “Someone to Lose” to work out some romantic confusion. In a press release, she describes feeling pain at the thought of a happy ending, saying: 

“Just the thought of the actual fall can almost be even more painful than the fall itself. How do you protect yourself from the only thing that can save you? I think it’s an extraordinary thing when people choose to put themselves in a situation where they potentially can get hurt. That gives me hope.”

If combining cool and simmering together isn’t too wild an oxymoron, it would surely describe this spectacular debut from Flikka, a Stockholm newcomer signed to London indie label Blue Flowers. Smoky swirling Someone To Lose is a languorous wafting indie aria showcasing Flikka’s extraordinary voice, which casts a spell that reminds us sometimes of Feist. The song feels like it could slide right into a scene in a French existential film with maudlin characters dramatically teetering on the edge of romance and despair. Someone To Lose truly does come from a place of romantic uncertainty. It blooms from a slowly unfurling bassline and softly padding percussion. Explaining the meaning behind the track, Flikka says: “I've recently found myself surprised and a bit confused when crying to movies where the couple actually gets each other.... Just the thought of the actual fall can almost be even more painful than the fall itself. How do you protect yourself from the only thing that can save you? That gives me hope.” Flikka also shared a bewitching music video for the song,directed by Beatrix Blaise. [News] Flikka veröffentlicht neue Single “Stop Me From”

Die gebürtige Stockholmerin Flikka hat am 12.06. ihre neue Single “Stop Me From“ via Blue Flowers veröffentlicht. Mit dem Song präsentiert die Schwedin ein experimentelles Indie-Pop-Spektakel, wenn sie mit klarer aber verspielter Stimme davon singt, krampfhaft und verzweifelt die Liebe an den falschen Orten zu suchen.

“I wrote this song while going through a difficult time”, erzählt Flikka. “I had a lot of anxiety and regret and I couldn't sleep. I remember calling up my father in the middle of the night asking what to do with the state I was in. He told me to pick up my guitar and so I did, and this song happened.

“Stop Me From” ist dabei der allererste Song, den sie unter dem Namen Flikka geschrieben hat und wohl einer ihrer persönlichsten, wie die Skandinavierin verrät: “Sometimes you trust people who you shouldn't trust. It's kind of funny how some people can treat you like shit and make you feel guilty about it.”

Flikka kommt vom schwedischen “Flicka”, was übersetzt so viel wie “Mädchen“ bedeutet. Als “harmloses Mädchen” angesehen zu werden, gibt ihr die Freiheit, wild und selbstbewusst zu sein. Nach ihrem bisherigen Werdegang durch verschiedene Chöre, einer zu hierarchischen Musikhochschule, Ausflügen in die Schauspielerei und schließlich als Sängerin in der Band ihres Bruders ist Flikka nun bereit, ihre eigenen Songs der Welt zu präsentieren.
