it's been like 2 years since my top surgery and this is literally the first I'm hearing of massaging scar tissue lumps hello?
YEAH i dont exactly know what causes them, but if you had a larger chest prior to the surgery and also got lipo during ur top surgery it can heighten the chances of internal scar tissue! bc theres just More that has to be removed so the physical trauma is a bit larger ig? i believe this happens after any major surgery in a relatively fatty area of the body, its just how fat Heals i gues !
getting rid of any hardness after top surgery (whether it be scar tissue, hematoma or calcified seroma) usually involves a TON of massaging to help break down whatever it is and have it reabsorbed into the body.
dont get me started on the popping and the squelching sounds that can happen bc of these (i actually got a recording of it to send to my surgeon bc i was Scared LMAO). its kinda nasty feeling but relatively temporary and completely normal. im also only 3 months post op so im still healing:) what matters is my chest Looks good and i feel good n happy! aside from scar tissue pain,,,

Hi, I was just curious how you chose the type of top surgery you got, like your scar shape and such, and if you still remember the pros and cons of each
in terms of the general type of surgery, getting double incision wasn't really a choice – the size of my chest would've disqualified me from most of the other options even if i'd wanted them. as far as i'm aware, the only other techniques that i would've been able to get at my size (t-anchor and fishmouth are the two my surgeon does that come to mind) wouldn't make sense because the main reason someone would pick them over double incision is just to keep nipple sensation, which didn't matter for me. that being said, i think i still might've gone with double incision even if i did qualify for something like peri or keyhole; i don't mind visible scarring and, from what i've seen of other people's results, i like the control that double incision gives the surgeon over the look of the chest overall.
as far as why i decided not to keep my nipples, i laid out my whole thought process in this ask a while back. the tl;dr is this: sensation in my nipples has always been a bad sensory thing for me, i didn't want to deal with the extra healing process of nipple grafts, i can be very picky about things on my body being asymmetrical and knew that nipple grafts aren't guaranteed to heal perfectly symmetrically, going without grafts was cheaper, i liked the idea of having a chest that's visibly different from a cis man's chest, and when i imagined my post-op body i naturally imagined it without nipples. so as you can probably tell, it was a pretty cut-and-dry decision for me, given how many reasons i had to go nipless.
and a few things went into the shape of my scars. the fact that they meet in the middle and go so far into my armpits was just necessary – i had a big chest before, and i specifically had a wide chest that met in the middle and had a lot of tissue in the sides, so my surgeon had to make my incisions wider in order to get all of the tissue out and avoid leaving any extra skin on the ends of the incisions. other than that, i told her during my pre-op that my ideal scars would be mostly straight and not too low on my chest. those preferences are purely aesthetic; i wanted straighter scars because i felt like scars that were too curved would read as boob-shaped in my dysphoria brain, which i didn't want to deal with, and i wanted to keep the scars on the higher side because without the nipples there, i felt like the scars sitting too low would make my chest look weirdly blank.
so those were my reasons – double incision with long connected scars out of necessity, higher and straighter scars because i liked how they looked the best, and no nipples because that just made sense for me on every level. i can't really make a pros and cons list for you because things that were pros for me might be cons for you and vice versa; it's all super personal. but hopefully, hearing about how i thought it through still helps you!

I have exciting news to share.
Finally, after years of waiting and hoping, it looks like I'll be (hopefully) getting top surgery by March of 2025.
The gender clinic of KU (in Kansas City, Kansas) had a 42 BMI limit for top surgery, and currently I'm right on that line. Also I will be moving out pretty soon, hopefully within the next month, so it'll finally be an option for me.
I have to get two letters, one from my therapist and one from my med provider, and stay under that BMI limit, and I should be able to get surgery pretty soon.
CW for body stuff below (no pictures, just explaining what things are like before surgery, and type of procedure I'm hoping for and why.
I'm hoping for fishmouth/batwing. I was originally set on double incision because it was really the only one I thought i would qualify for--I have G cups (DDD) and a lot of sagging--but I'm hoping that the doc will be able to do fishmouth, because I don't want nipple grafts to deprive me of sensation, but I still do want them. Plus, the scars look epic and I'm more genderqueer than I am binary trans guy anyway, and fishmouth is more gnc than double incision.
I really hope that they don't disqualify me because of how i bind--because of my chest size, I bind over a sports bra because otherwise it won't make me look masculine, and I'm in a rural mostly conservative area so it's just as much dysphoria as it is safety for me.
I'm trying to gather a masterlist of post-op supplies I need to consider getting.
I'm also working on building my chest/pectoral muscles so I don't look so flat as a board when I get the teet yeet.

I love that artists have gotten more creative with how they draw top surgery scars from making them super cool stylized to really gnarly to really clean and also with people incorporating anchor and nippleless surgery styles. I love seeing the new takes and the representation it gives people.
However I do wish more artists would incorporate minimal scar types. Art with fishmouth, Peri, keyhole, and even mixtures. (There used to be a type like fishmouth but with no nipples that I think Dr. Scott Mosser did but I don't think it's done much anymore). I think I have seen one piece with keyhole and that's about it and I actually can't express how happy it made me.
Yeah scars are fun to draw but having the variety especially when it adds to the character's stories is much more interesting.
Also draw different types of scars. Keloids, hyperpigmented, hypopigmented, indented, stretched, ect.
(don't come at me saying "well you do it". I do.)

Honestly? I wish artists would start drawing more than just the usual double incision scars for characters with top surgery. What about peri-areolar? Fishmouth? Keyhole? I want to see more characters with my kind of scars...

Thats not a dumb question, and to answer it (as someone who is looking into top surgery but is not a medical professional):
Trigger warning: discussion of surgeries/medical procedures
It depends entirely on the person! First of all, not all trans masc people decide to have top surgery (and that can happen for a variety of reasons). Those people will likely keep their nipples, but there's also a surgery option where you remove only the nipples but not the rest of the breast tissue. Unfortunately I don't remember what that one is called right now.
Then there's trans masc people who do decide to have surgery. There's a variety of surgery options and which is chosen depends on a bunch of factors (things like cup size etc). Each of those comes with different procedure options for nipples. I'll mention common ones down below but I'm putting a cut here bc this post got long lol
The surgery that I think most people think of when talking about trans masc people is called a double mastectomy. That's the one where you have scars that usually run below the pectoral muscle once the surgery is done. With this surgery you can get nipple grafts that are usually included in the surgery costs. Getting nipple grafts means that the surgeon will completely take the nipples off, resize them and sew them back on while doing the surgery. This leaves the patient with limited sensation after the surgery since the cord of nerves leading to the nipples has been severed. You can also choose not to get nipple grafts, which leaves you with just a flat chest.
Then there's the option of getting the inverted t/anchor surgery. This is called that because the surgeon will do an incision like the double mastectomy one but then also cut up to and around the nipple to remove the breast tissue. This way, the cord of nerves doesn't get severed, leaving the patient with full nipple sensation.
Then there's periolar or keyhole surgery. This only works for small cup sizes. The surgeon only cuts around the nipple and then removes the breast tissue through the hole. This is the surgery that's the least obvious once it's done. It only leaves scarring around the nipple but nowhere else.
There's also fishmouth surgery, which is like periolar but with two added cuts on either side. And there's always the option to not keep the nipples and get medical tattoos resembling them later on.
Another thing I'd like to mention is that these procedures aren't something that only trans masc people get done. While they are currently the majority of people who get these things done, they aren't the only ones who do. I've read of cis women who have gotten mastectomies or extreme reduction (whether that be for medical, personal or aesthetic reasons). There's also the option for trans femme people to take estrogen and then get top surgery for various reasons. During these procedures theres once again the option to keep the nipples or ditch them. These cases might be rarer but they do exist and are still gender affirming care.
Most of these procedures allow for the custom placement as well as the removal of the nipples, but it is up to the individual trans person to decide whether they'd like to keep their nipples or not. Some things that I've read people consider prior to surgery is things like their goals (do they want a more "normal" look? Do they care about passing and do they want to pass as someone of the opposite sex or as something other than their birth sex? Do they want to keep sensations? Do they want nipple piercings or specific tattoos after surgery?) As well as the recovery time and difficulty (nipple grafts can be tricky in that regard, they take long to heal and can easily turn out wonky and asymmetrical. They can also fall off if you aren't careful for the first few months after surgery.).
I'd also like to say that scar shapes and placement can vary based on the preferences of the person. Some people opt to have straight scars that can be placed vertically, horizontally or diagonally and be below the pectoral muscle or on it. Some people prefer the look of curved scars that can also be placed depending on the look the person is going for. The scars can meet in the middle of the chest or be separate, they can curve up in the middle or don't do that. There's a whole bunch of options.
Anyway, I've rambled way too long now but I hope this helped ^^ and again, it's not a dumb question!
okay very dumb question but
do trans masc people have nipples????
(I'm not joking or trying to be transphobic, i am genuinely curious)

Top Surgery Scars by MNLVLZ
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello All!!
My name is Emanuel and I'm here to post my very first CC online.
Here I bring you 6 different top surgery scars in 5 different swatches. The procedures I chose are "Double Incision, Inverted T, Fishmouth, Peri-Aerolar, Keyhole and Minor Scar" Both double incision and Inverted T have 2 versions.
Tumblr media
Swatches: Light, Medium, Dark and Deep were created to work with as many skin tones possible, as seen in the image above. I also added a 5th swatch that aims to match the already existing scars the game maxis has given us.
I would like to clarify that I'm not a trans man myself, I'm a queer individual. So I don't know the experience of going through top surgery, I tried my best to do the proper research by reading articles written by clinics who perform top surgery and reading/watching blogs from transmen who have gone through with the procedure. If you believe I did a disservice please don't hesitate to let me know so I can fix it with your feedback or take it down if needed.

NSFW I guess?
Hi there! I don't really know if this I the right blog to ask, but you're my go-to trans masc tumblr, so I'll just try. If you don't feel comfortable answering this, don't worry! You can just ignore it or tell me where to find answers :)
I'm a pre-surgery trans man and into bdsm. I was wondering if it's safe to use clamps and stuff post top-surgery and if there are other things I have to pay attention to in this matter. (I would of course wait at least 3months after surgery to make sure my chest has time to heal.) Can't find much about this on the internet and I don't really want to ask my surgeon.
I would definitely ask your surgeon, tbh. From personal experience, I'm only recently starting to feel comfortable doing anything rough with my nipples- the scars around the edges of them can be delicate, and even the silicone tape my surgeon recommended I use makes me nervous to peel off (and I've gotten some funky re-scarring there because of the moisture + peeling, though minor). And I'm almost 9 months post-op now.
I also can't feel much of anything in either nipple yet; sensation takes a really long time to come back, and tends to work from the outside edges of your chest inward. What I can feel is only in one side, and pretty dull.
All of this will be More if you get nipple grafts; I had fishmouth, which means while my nipples were cut around and trimmed, they were never actually removed from my chest. If you have anything like Double Incision, T-anchor, or another surgery that requires your nipples to be removed and re-attached, you're going to have a much longer wait until your nipples heal enough to do much with or feel anything in.

Sims 4 Top Surgery Scars
Gonna be real honest and say I hope someone uses the new scar section to make some nice top surgery scars. Not that the few that I’ve found online aren’t good, they are and I love them, but they are all the double incision scars!! Cmon give me some Inverse T anchors! FishMouth!! Subtle Peri or Keyhole! No nipple options pleassssseee!! and different levels of healing!!! It’s so tempting to try and do this all myself and make a big trans-afab kit for yall but I have no clue where to start!
