“what,” i yell back. it’s a questionable method of communication, but it works for us. i hear her footsteps clambering towards my room, then my door bursts open and taniya, my five-foot-barely anything roomate flings herself onto my bed.

“paige FUCKING bueckers commented on your post and all you did was like it? i thought i taught you better than this, bee,” taniya says, shaking her head at me.

“well, it’s not like-“

“HOLD ON,” taniya cuts me off, “she liked this comment saying ‘the spine tattoo…my god’ brooklyn mae johns she’s fucking in love with you.”

i roll my eyes at taniya’s wild predictions, which aren’t new to our friendship. “first of all, my name isn’t even brooklyn, second of all, wait, check my phone, who’s that message from?”

taniya picks up my phone, reads something, then screams at the top of her lungs and chucks my phone at me.

“hey brooke!” i hear a voice from behind the booth im sitting in, nursing a sprite and a small fry.

“hi paige,” i say, grinning. she smiles back, and slides into the other side of the booth, then reaches over and takes one of my fries.

“get your own,” i chide, while sliding the fries closer to her. “besides that, why’d you randomly want to know what college i go to?”

she shifts in her seat. as she opens her mouth, a waitress comes by with a happy meal. paige opens it up and dumps her fries into the other end of the nugget box. before she eats, i quickly snap a picture.

“you don’t mind if i post this? it’s kinda how im paying for my guilty pleasures.”

she nods, “yeah, tag me. anyway, i asked you about what college you went to because i thought i knew you from somewhere, but i just could not figure out what. also, you’re like, really pretty so i wanted to talk to you.”

she blushes at the last part, which makes my cheeks go a bit pink. 

“well, you’re not exactly bad looking yourself. when can i see you again, because it’s getting late and i want to see my bed,” i say. taniya would be proud of my straightforwardness.

“Well, i’ve got tickets to a Sun & Fever game for monday, and the person i was going with just bailed on me, so do you wanna come?” 

i blink at paige in shock. i’ve literally known her in person for maybe twenty five minutes and she’s already offering me things?

“i mean, im not doing anything, and the Sun’s arena isn’t that far, is it?” i ask, hoping to get any more information on whatever she’s proposing.

“yeah, it’s probably only like an hour with traffic, but i can pick you up and drive you home if you want? or we can get a hotel? i have a hotel, but i can cancel it if you wanna you home, i just didn’t want to drive again after the game because leaving would be hell.”

i nod, hoping it looks cool and confident and not utterly confused.

“yeah, we can keep the hotel, it’s okay.”

“aight, i’ll get you on monday around three.” 

paige walks me out to my car, and as i climb in, she grabs my hand and squeezes it. once i see that she’s gone, i call taniya.

“Bitch do i have so much to tell you.”

she is very odd looking! In a good way. I’ve noticed she seems a little tall for a riolu, and her eyes are blue instead of the typical red. Could just be a genetic mutation, or maybe she’s a hybrid of some kind? Either way, her appearance is the only thing that’s unusual, so I’m not worried

i found her last summer while on a hike in an area where pokémon hunters sometimes set up traps (I hate those fuckers) and ended up finding Fable caught in an ursaring trap. I was able to help her out and we skedaddled to a pokémon center and next thing you know we’re partners :p shit makes me feel like the main character lmao

one thing we like to do together is watch movies, especially animated stuff, sometimes horror (to an extent) or anything that’s just stupid. I enjoy making fun of the dumb stuff and she likes the colorful moving pictures and musical parts (same tbh)

Sometimes we train with my sister and her misdreavus, and whenever we get the chance, we’ll battle my cousin and his froakie. It’s super fun

Ooohh, Anon, now I’m curious who you’re talking about 👀 If they have at least a little bit of the eliteTM aura about them (even Soma has it...), they’ll be fine. Unicorns have to deal with each other while thinking they’re the most important people in the world due to their upbringing, so they have a surprisingly working flow among themselves that saves them from getting their egos hurt, which is the most difficult problem for them to solve. They’re also supposed to behave if they don’t want to get expelled, but it’s so hard and expensive to put your child in this institution, that few boys end up like this lol But thank you for sharing anyway!

You’re not a pinhead, Anon! In fact, I’m very happy you don’t quite get what’s going on there because it’s a spoiler of his route. All the boys got this type of comic (to celebrate me finishing with the plot summaries of their individual routes), but I could post only Liam because it’s so vague and hard to understand. Nothing good is going on for Edmund, that’s for sure <3 I’m sorry, I’ll have to keep you in the dark.

Probably smut and fluff are my least favorites. Smut is super difficult because of the intimacy it requires while fluff is… I simply don’t like it. Angst is my favorite and there’s always a dash of it even in my most happy fics.

3. Favorite characters to write for?

Emma Swan. Bar none. Although Bobby is coming awful close in second place these days

4. Which one of your works is your favorite?

Oh “A Hero’s Sacrifice” for sure! I put so much research and so many tears into it! Ans it’s the angstiest thing I’ve ever written and secretly can’t believe I was the one who wrote that darn last line����

5. Which one of your works is more popular than you thought it would be?

“I’m Not Much of a Talker”. People invaded my ask box telling me it’s not worth it and no one wants to read it but here it is getting likes, kudos, and hits four months later. It’s also kept people in the fandom but that’s a story for another day

6. Which one of your works is less popular than you thought it would be?

“Where My Demons Hide”. It’s canon-compliant Portland-era SwanFire fic that also features their first time like why?! I thought the SwanFire fandom craved angsty spicy stories! Oh well! I put a lot of work and thought into it and that’s all that counts right?

7. Which one of your fics was hardest to write? Why?

Definitely “We’re Safe Now” - the one about Gale Cleven. It was difficult because it’s about him having PTSD and because I always want my writing to be accurate and realistic, it required a good amount of research. It was also mentally exhausting trying to put myself in his shoes. To this day I’m sad it has less than 100 hits😔

8. What is your favorite fanfic by someone else?

Oh gosh this isn’t even fair. Well, starting with SwanFire, Spinner’s Son by The Phoenix Feather Quill is the top spot because that work of art gif me started on my own writing journey. And I’d most certainly say “Into the Woods” by Redbone135. I always love a good teenaged SwanFire fic and he MORE THAN delivered on that one. I still recall it from time to time. For Hiccup and Astrid? The Maps Between Us and would you believe I forgot her URL?! It really shed a light on how miscarriages affect the husband too and I greatly appreciated that being I’m pretty passionate about men’s mental health. Now lastly, with the Boys in the Boat? Definitely Olympic Angel. Again I forgot her URL as well but it’s an amazing story with such a good OFC and PERFECT characterization of Don! Go read it! It’s precious.

Also wood soup asmr! I also recently got into keyboard asmr and bought myself some wireless keyboards for my birthday which make nice thocky/clacky noises 🤤

Currently working on: a lot of fic writing for zines, djs, and ao3, but my main WIP is Where The Dead Forget, a memory loss AU Patrochilles fic set in the Hades game universe, which also has a lot of my own retellings of the Achilles & Patroclus myths woven in. it’s been a minute since I actually sat down to watch a movie so I actually don’t know lol. If I had to guess it was probably the D&D movie! I really loved the mix of cgi and practical effects they used! The unfortunate side effect of watching that movie is that now I want to cosplay all my characters SO BAD. but I don’t have cosplay money rn😔😔😔

What are you currently reading?

I’m slowly making my way through Frankenstein! I actually picked up this copy from a local used bookstore and didn’t realize until later that it’s a Norton Critical edition. So it has the original 1818 text plus a bunch of extra historical context and annotations, which is pretty cool!

I’m also re-reading the first Wolves of the Beyond book, I read the whole series once as a kid and thought it would be fun to revisit. its....okay. Definitely not as well written as I remember but I guess I should have expected that lol

What are you currently watching?

Like I said above, I just finished watching the new Good Omens season a couple of days ago! I do have some criticisms, and I don’t think it rlly compares to the first season or to the book, but I enjoyed it overall and had really fun time watching it!

BEST EXPERIENCE: oh, I’ve had so many wonderful experiences on here ! but I’d say the best above them all are any of the meaningful relationships that I’ve made with a few writers 🌷 some people I’ve met on tumblr mean quite a lot to me, & they definitely feel like family ! 🌿

RP PET PEEVES/DEALBREAKERS: hmm … 🤔 I’m not the biggest fan of impatience, since I tend to be quite slow with my replies ( though I am grateful to say that I couldn’t tell you about a time where I’ve experienced this, so … if I ever have, it thankfully wasn’t bad enough for me to remember it 🙏 ). I guess another one is when it’s obvious that someone hasn’t read Ari’s about / my rules, but again, that’s an extremely rare occurrence 😭 you see, you all are so wonderful, so I have very few complaints 🥺 as for dealbreakers, any kind of inappropriate behavior towards Ari will earn you an instant hardblock. problematic behavior, as well, & blogs that run solely off drama—it’s just not something I appreciate seeing. lastly, an inability to respect boundaries—either mine or others—is not the sort of behavior I’m interested in keeping around. only friendly & kind company here in grandma Winnie’s house, & I promise to try my very best to be just the same ! 🍯

FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: never the last, so we will keep it between the first two; I much prefer the former over the latter, since I’m most comfortable writing sweet things 🌻 however, I do want to practice more with angst & am not against adding / exploring similar elements to / in threads ... 🤔 no guarantees that I’ll be any good at it, though; I struggle to tug at that particular part of the heart, I feel 😭

i’ve been a ken stan for many years so i think i’ve been using this url for at least 7 or 8 years?? and now i’m too attached to it to let it go. also i think i’m just honestly too lazy to ever think about changing it

none that are active! i used to help run a few fyeahs (lol remember when these were a thing...) and also had a fashion id blog. i currently only have one i use to save inspirations and references

i think it was cool to have one way back then lmao i didn’t really start it for any particular fandom. it was also a good way to pass the time during boring lectures. but since then this blog has gone thru extensive phases (if you know you know..) to become what it is now

immediate gut reaction is a very defensive “don’t tell me what to do!!!!” but hmm yeah i agree with ali - interact with a post if u want to and don’t feel obligated to bc you’re in charge of your own social media experience and if you’re not in the right head space to do so then you shouldn’t feel bad about scrolling past. it’s always something you can revisit if you feel up to it or don’t that’s okay too. having empathy is important but we’re all human and there’s also a limit to the number of issues we can dedicate our time and effort to understanding and caring for

Are you staying home from work/school?

Nope, our office is considered essential. I work at a company that sells parts for trucks, buses, etc. and also does repairs. My job is more on the admin side, but I still need to be on site for paperwork and checking stuff in the warehouse. I really wish I had the option to stay home tho...

Are you a homebody?

Yes! I am a total introvert lol so I haven’t really had to make too many changes to my usual routine. I’ve always preferred quiet indoor activities to going out, so this is fine for me.

What movies have you watched recently?

Last weekend I finally watched 10 Cloverfield Lane, and The Cloverfield Paradox. I’d been meaning to for a while since I really enjoyed the first one, and I liked both of them a lot too. Those kinds of movies are definitely up my alley.

What shows are you watching?

Out of the (many) shows that I watch, the few that are still airing new episodes right now are Prodigal Son, Westworld, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Roswell, New Mexico

An event that you were looking forward to that got cancelled?

 2 weeks ago I was supposed to be in Boston for the weekend. Louden Swain concert on the Saturday, and ACE Comic Con on the Sunday 😔 But even before all this, I kind of had a feeling it wouldn’t work out? The whole thing just seemed too good to be true... the concert’s been postponed to August but I feel like it’ll probably get pushed back again. The convention is cancelled, even if they do reschedule it seems unlikely they’ll have the same guest list.

My itunes playlist is a pretty mixed bag lol but this is a pretty good sample of the kind of stuff that I listen to.

What are you reading?

I had started a couple of books and then stopped, which is actually rare for me. Not that I didn’t want to keep reading, just wasn’t in the mood for those particular things. Mostly I’ve just been in the mood to read newmann fics.

What are you doing for self-care?

Trying to avoid reading/watching the news too much, since it just stresses me out. That includes reduced twitter time, at least on my personal account. I’m using my fandom twitter a bit more now, because escapism is my jam. Also trying to go to bed earlier, but that doesn’t always work out.

For the name Fallon, I just picked it because I liked the vibes honestly and also after an oc I made when I was really little. And as for the beloved name bestowed unto me, Milk. I honestly don’t know probably a few months ago now it was actually quite funny (not at the time, but funny looking back) I’d just had my first physiotherapy appointment and afterward my best friend asked me “oh how was physio?” and I said “I don’t want to talk about it or I’ll start crying” and then I started crying anyway lmao and half of my friends were confused because they couldn’t tell if I was laughing or crying

😭nah this question is actually the bane of my existence because it’s ridiculous but I actually can’t tell like if I had to pick a colour I’d go green but idk sometimes there’s brown parts in there and sometimes it’s bright green and sometimes it look really grey or blue I just don’t know

good endings! I don’t watch many movies though tbh but I’m not very keen on scary stuff

they’re all boring but if I had to pick it would be Geography because at least it’s easy
