What do I think of the traveller? Well, they’re observant, quick on their feet, and remarkably determined once set in their ways. They’re the only reason Fontaine is still standing, and the only reason I’m not stuck in the Fortress of Meropide. I owe them quite a bit, now that I think about it…

You listen to the musical scores, watch the actors dance across the stage, years of practice and rehearsals condensed into a single scene, an unknowable amount of complexity lost from your place in the audience. You want to watch it over and over, to ask the director about his creative process and about the symbolism of the chorus, but everything packs up before you know it. You think about it forever, mourning the fragility of your own memory, wanting more than anything to watch it just one more time.

I think it’s amusing how much effort people put into planning a thing as simple as prayer. Every day, the children carefully discuss what candles would smell the best when lit, pestering Lyney for his opinion… even Freminet, blessed as he is, practices his words at least twice before addressing them formally. Then again, he never has been confident with his words…

I rather enjoy tea parties. Brewing the tea, baking the pastries, sitting together with a few friends, it’s all so peaceful. Of course, now that Silver and Melus are gone, I find myself drinking tea all on my own. No, there’s no need to worry—sitting above a thriving Spina, knowing everything we’ve been through and the strength we’ve been given, I never feel lonely.

I love Ginny’s character so much, actually.

Her introduction: Laying on the ground, despite having a tiny table at her side, several armchairs, and probably a desk and bed in her room, but no, she prefers the ground. Doesn’t get up when knox enters, just continues laying there without caring. First thing she says is a complain to her mother (“it’s ginny, mom!”), doesn’t care there’s a visitor present. Says hello to knox, doesn’t care to start a conversation aside from that. Continues with her business. Gf appears, Ginny talks to her like she’s the only person in the room. Visibly judges visitor with her gf by sharing a glance. In the book, she tells this complete stranger that Chris is going to make out with her brother in their father’s car completely unprompted.

Stimming.

She later appears at the play, at the end of it, just approaches Neil and kisses him, a moment later, while they’re back on stage, pushes him towards the crowd being a supportive friend.

After getting out of the auditorium, instead of, idk, returning home with her parents, decides to follow a bunch of teenage boys she doesn’t know to a place she doesn’t know to do god knows what. But her gf is going, so. She ends up dancing the night away.

Honestly she’s just having a good time all through the movie.

You’re telling me this play ends with Heracles coming back to sanity after Lyssa strikes him with the madness to kill innocents (his family) and being so overwhelmed with grief that he’s wanting to commit suicide but then his “FAITHFUL FRIEND,” Theseus goes on a big speech about friendship and living on and leads Heracles onward to essentially heal and redeem himself???

(I read that they have a big debate over morals too where Heracles is convinced he’s 100% at fault even if the gods/divine had influence over him, but Theseus doesn’t want him to take the blame for something he couldn’t control hhhhhgggg)

wild week for musical theatre covers. the high budget star-studded broadway shakespeare production can’t get their first covers rehearsed enough that they can go on for their understudy roles off-book months after opening, at the same time that the swings of alw’s technicolor rollerskating nonsense are rawdogging supporting villain debuts at showtime with no prep other than what could be reviewed in the 20 minutes it took to switch costumes and doing totally fine. absolutely insane.

Huh, I didn't even realize it'd been a year since BG3 came out until I opened tumblr this morning. Kinda wild. I didn't think much of the game's release: I like Larian's games, and I like the BG series. I wasn't ever going to skip the game, but I didn't think I'd play it at launch because I was busy working on a novel in 2023 and not doing well financially.

Thankfully, circumstances left me with a little bit of extra money last year just before launch and it meant I could spend on a video game. I needed a pick-me-up after said 2023 novel failed to go anywhere, and BG3 was right there. Like most CRPGs, I played it in basically every moment of free time that I had and did as much as I possibly could in one playthrough.

It's so odd how these small happenstances can snowball into coming back to fandom, finding some friends I might've never met otherwise, and writing a lot of fanfiction along the way. I'll probably have something more interesting to say/share when it's the 14th, AKA when I sat down and wrote my first fic for this fandom.

Anyways, it's been a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to more years to come 💜
