if it involves a chili dinner, yes that is my fic!! thank you so much, i’m happy to hear it, and there’s more where that came from as soon as i decompress from school brain fog and read a bit more about the arrows myself (my problem is that in order to write a character i feel like i have to read their entire history first, which is totally realistic to achieve 😀👍 i’ve read the arrows but i feel like i haven’t read enough) because lonnie becoming an arrowcousin is one of my all-time favorite ideas, i love it a lot. i’ve actually talked quite a bit about my ideal post-canon for lonnie, but since you mentioned it… i’ll do it again ⬇️

basically the way i tend to see post-rr going in my world is that the ünternet is re-deactivated after he and tim have a sort of confrontation, and lonnie decides to cut off their partnership (nothing that tim really did, not a ton of hard feelings. i could talk a LOT about their relationship too but i’ll save it for another day lol) after the fact in order to focus on sorting some things out. he’s been through a ton of trauma and as is his nature he tends to repress his feelings (even if he’s horrible at it lmfao), and he’s working towards recovery physically but needs to heal mentally as well. after recovering enough to travel, he calls up ollie because ollie is pretty much the only adult vigilante that’s ever teamed up with him more on his terms and is willing to help him out, and ollie’s helped him clear his name before. he has a bit of trust in ollie for that even if he tends to close himself off.

the two make an agreement and lonnie leaves gotham for star city and they go on a year-or-so road trip around the US as lonnie works to recover and reclaim the anarky name from the damage wrought on it by ulysses. fun fact! the anarky/GA road trip team-up was an actual idea that writer james peaty had for a GA book that never got written, so i’ve taken it for my own (and whoever else likes the idea). they don’t ever have a father-child relationship, but he finds some community and support in the arrows, and as lonnie usually does around ollie he brings out some stuff in ollie as well. ft. a friendship with mia dearden because i adore the concept of them becoming friends. i imagine he also allows himself to really grieve his parents, too. the arrows align well with his ideals and look out for each other, and i feel like they’d be a much more comfortable presence for him to do his work with.

after the road trip, lonnie comes back and re-establishes himself in gotham with a more community-based approach to vigilantism. its hard to break old habits and he’s still healing in multiple ways, but as moneyspider he can focus on rebuilding a name for himself as a hacktivist and organizer. he still goes out as anarky sometimes, but i like to think that when he’s ready he gives the name to the community to organize under. think… kind of like anonymous but actually legitimate, where if a group wants to claim their actions as those of “anarky”, they can, and he’ll work with them. he builds up a legitimacy and community around the name that makes it harder for people like ulysses or certain groups to usurp it again. gardening, volunteering, and such alongside the direct action he’s known for. i also like to think of him as long-term or permanently disabled, hence why i depict him as using crutches and a wheelchair. i feel like quite a few other lonnie fans like to totally brush what happened with ulysses aside, and while i have complex feelings on the subject, i don’t think pretending like it never happened is the answer to that.

i don’t think she ever joins the batfam, but she will team up with tim or steph or duke when their interests intersect. i just don’t think she’d ever be happy as an extension of them long-term, let alone someone who’d ever defer to bruce like that or wear a bat on her chest. she’s nobody’s “oracle” - she’s lonnie, or learning who lonnie is alongside a mission she still believes in. she’s very much her own operator and still rejecting systems of authority or her name isn’t sometimes-Anarky, and i imagine sometimes her work does conflict with batman’s, like it always has. she works with the people most of all. i do like to take reboot concepts and mash them with preboot, so i think he’d still meet with the We Are Robin movement like in the n52 but this time as an established hacker-informant. And not the main one of course, because they have sug-r for that! just on the side.

it’s all very much wishful thinking and best case scenarios, but i like exploring the nuances and giving the character the focus on reclaiming her life and message that i think she deserves. and hey, i did say "ideal". i know that lonnie developing from the flaws that she had in her preboot comics might require new stories and new flaws to fill their niche, but half the fun's thinking of them, and recovery is never a linear process. also i want to see her get more into weird occult shit alongside stretching a web across cyberspace and getting involved in gotham activism.

also she’s transfem to me 👍 i made a post in case you & others were confused as to why i alternate pronouns but figured id delete it and just put it here. i could also go into my gender hc, but i have before, so again, i’ll do it if prompted. i will say i don’t think she’d work this out about herself until after settling back in Gotham - if you can call it “settling”.

La Noscea

Zedyr's childhood home was in Halfstone, W. La Noscea. Previously, this area was not really accessible (other than the Sapsa Spawning Grounds down in the eroded caves) but now you can fly over the area and imagine it how it used to be when it was a settlement 😥

Strammund was born in a coastal village in La Noscea, probably within spitting distance of Limsa Lominsa. I don't have a lot of detail for it, but you could theoretically visit the zone, at least.

Renan's component persons were from Ancient Nym. You can... visit the ruins? 😬? (pictured below)

Thanalan

Maati grew up in Ul'dah (and is still living and working there, actually, though she's with the Milvaneth Sacrarium, which isn't really accessible in-game).

Raranen is from Ul'dah, same as Maati.

Selah grew up in Ul'dah, in the middle-class merchant districts (the Fronds?) Not accessible in-game, exactly, but you can get the general vibe, at least.

Rhenbraen (pictured below) was raised in a (non-canon) orphanage in Central Thanalan, and later worked the mines in the area. They frequently visited the Coffer & Coffin.

The Black Shroud

Zhah'ra is from the East Shroud, sort of near where Baelsar's Wall is now or perhaps a bit north of that. I headcanon it as much more extensive than the areas we can access in-game, of course, but I think you can sorta fly over the area he was from to get a feel for it.

Maayan (pictured below) is from the Shroud. She grew up in a large house, which I think was probably in the Central Shroud, somewhere? Her family might have moved to Gridania proper after the Calamity? I'm not sure. She doesn't visit them, so it hasn't come up.

Iris is from... uhhh... Gridania? City boy, probably specifically from the Gentry's Ward. Don't have many details for him, though.

Maparhi (Zhah'ra's cousin) is another one from the East Shroud, though a little further east. Her family's home territory was destroyed to build Baelsar's Wall.

Pash'a was originally from what is now the East End (and was conscripted by the Garleans).

Coerthas

Amande grew up in Ishgard, in the Pillars, as the son of the steward to a minor house. (I haven't identified his specific building or anything; maybe I'll pin it down further once he gets up there himself.)

Danyell (pictured below) is from Coerthas! I think I decided that he's specifically from a little farm in the western part of Coerthas Central Highlands.

Silver Sage's homeland can only (perhaps) be glimpsed from far above, since he is from a small village in Abalathia's Spine. I haven't quite figured out where in the Spine he is from, exactly, though.

Emerik is from a Garlean colony in Ilsabard. I know it was a port city (on a river?) but that's it. His family was originally based in the woods/mountains further inland, but his mother moved to the city to look for work when Emerik was very little.

Ryoku is from a mountain holding north of Doma, under the rule of Lord Kita. As far as I know, this area cannot be accessed even to look at it over zone lines.

Mama Dee is from Ilsabard, probably north up the coast close to Garlemald (though not on the coast). The area has been occupied by the Garleans for quite some time.

Firn is from, um, idk, an alpine area? somewhere? I'm really not clear enough on the geography of the Veena home ranges to be able to pin down his homeland.

Deliberately chose the binary yes/no, but with the caveat that you can be as pedantic as you like because it's about how you FEEL. Are they from Doma but actually that nice farm you can see across the water in Yanxia and so you've never set foot there but you sort of feel at home in the zone? You can click yes. You made them from Dalmascus and an alliance raid runs right past their old front door, but it doesn't feel like a legit place to hang out in game and you're sad they didn't give us a full zone out there? Click no!

I've wondered about this since I started playing because the character creator gives you vague geographic details before you even start and maybe know nothing about the world, and then takes you up to the starter city like you're from somewhere else, and sometimes if you roll a character without knowing the story you end up accidentally Magnai's long-suffering sibling because of your choices and the naming conventions in the randomiser. How much drastic change has that caused or are you sticking with early OC characterisation plans?

Each of my stories and how much the plot is thought through for:

Towat: overarching story is figured out and has been figured out for awhile. It's seperated into 4 mini "arcs" in my head, and each of those has their own beginning middle and end. Don't have like, a script fully done though.

Pirate story: I know basically like everything but I have no idea what the actual ending should be. Thr pieces are there I just haven't put it together in my head yet but it's okay I have plenty of time to figure out a satisfying conclusion

Dragon story: I know exactly how I want it to end (Firn and Iclyn going on a date yes I have every detail of that planned <3) and some specific scene ideas. Don't know the in between though.

World's Heart: this one has the least amount of story planned despite it being named bc it's much less story based than the rest. It's moreso just me wanting to indulge on lore which is why it takes place in the same universe as pirate story ahdhdjskgjdhe

Silver Lightning: Fuck if I know we have gone so far off of the original idea that I don't even know what it's about anymore. Thank god Silver Lightning is the name of a character so the title still fits.

bcc chess headcanon

i have this headcanon that everyone in the bcc plays chess. both for fun & as a part of training. when wheeler joins he doesn't really know how to play chess. regal uses the time teaching wheeler to play to bond one on one with wheeler, even when the bcc is all together doing whatever (mox & eddie watching football, bryan reading, claudio halfway watching football & doing whatever he does, ect) regal will take some time to work on playing chess with wheeler.

& of fuckin course wheeler picks it up pretty well, especially the strategy aspect of the game. regal starts setting him up against claudio & bryan, coaching wheeler through the game. when wheeler can keep up on his own regal sets up boards so that wheeler is playing regal, claudio, & bryan at once over time (the boards are set up & left, each player coming in whenever they want to make their move as opposed to timed chess).

eventually wheeler can hold his own with bryan & claudio, beats them here & there. eventually getting the best of regal. it's a lot of fun & wheeler really finds himself enjoy it. he noticed eventually that no one plays with mox, that he's never invited to play. so he asks regal & regal says that he & mox play sometimes so invites him to watch.

mox, while half paying attention & messing with eddie like he plays video games, beats regal again & again in less than 15 moves each time. to wheeler's amazement regal is actually trying & struggling to last as long as possible with mox but can never, ever get the best of him. bryan says that he refuses to play with mox bc he think mox is cheating. claudio says he plays with mox sometimes but grows frustrated. mox offers to play wheeler, & wheeler agrees fully expecting to get got very quickly.

to everyone's shock wheeler just hangs with mox. he easily keeps up with mox's strategy & ideas, the random wild twists he puts in his game. their first match goes for over an hour, when none of the bcc has last 20 minutes. eventually mox wins but they end up setting up another game that last until the morning as a stalemate.

wheeler declines mox for awhile, which starts to get under mox's skin bc he wants to play someone who can keep up. eventually wheeler agrees again & they play a quick four or five games where mox crushes him in the first few moves. mox calls wheeler out on letting him win but wheeler promises he was just trying different things that didn't work. they break bc mox is abt to physically fight wheeler.

after dinner wheeler sets up the board & asks mox for another match. first time he's asked mox to play him instead of being offered. its touch & go for both of them for a long time, they work each other, take piece after piece, & when it's just so close to another stalemate...

wheeler pulls out a surprising, glorious win over mox.

mox has never been happier (or more annoyed) to lose & thus starts the epic battle for the bcc chess championship.

claudio makes a little trophy that mox & wheeler have to pass back & forth between each other (they keep track of their win/loses & the title reigns [much to the annoyance of the other bcc they involved their wins over them too]). regal snaked a win & held the title for 4 weeks before mox bullied him into a match & took it back.

bryan has never held the title once. though claudio managed to distract wheeler & win once (but lost it on the rematch a few days later).

it become a genuine competition between wheeler & mox, while everyone else gets to flex their creativity trying to cheat a win off the other two. there is an unspoken rule to keep the title off of bryan bc it pisses him off so much.

ooohhh Okay actually this is making me think a lot of the different directions this could end up going (this is speculation based on what I know of your characters, obviously I probably got a decent amount of things wrong lmao) Firn, given he does seem to have knowledge of royals-- oh that could be eventful. Bros got a mutant kid and a royal kid finds out. What if the royal kid goes and tells the parents? "There's a cannibalistic mutant and I know where they are," that'll probably scare Firn, at least to a degree, and maybe Coati too.

Then Truthseeker getting into any of it-- "Your friends with a mutant who's dad goes around and kills mutant hunters... like me. Your friend's dad might kill me." Or "You met a CANNIBALISTIC DRAGONET who's dad ALSO KILLS? MUTANT HUNTERS? Dude why do you have to make friends with other dragons with murderous fathers. Why are there murderous fathers." OR "Oh cool you made friends with mutants. Why. You know I am like.. supposed to kill them. I'm supposed to kill your friends Morganite. I have to live up to the expectations of my parents to kill." Which could go to A) "Okay I'm not going to kill your friends" B) "Lmfao okay ig GG to these mutants, thanks for making them easy targets" (Which may result in Morganite saying "WTF" and arguing, which in turn may raise eyebrows at the royal family) C) Royalty gets involved and somehow protection is placed over the mutants, or, Morganite is taken away from them And with Morganite in general.. honestly, regardless of route, the most likely outcome with them, to me, is starting a war. If they make friends with mutants and the royal family accepts them for that/changes their minds about mutants-- the other kingdoms aren't going to be happy. (Especially the Icewings, given Morganite is part Icewing and yada yada it makes them look bad or something) If they make friends with mutants and the royal family doesn't approve and kicks Morganite out, the other kingdoms are likely going to be wary of the Skywings from that point forward, and high tensions can give way to violence. If Morganite doesn't end up liking mutants and getting the royal family involved, that could result in an actual Mutant vs. Non-Mutant war vs. what's going on now OR, if B happens with Truthseeker and Morganite ends up arguing, that might lead to violence within the kingdom-- "The Hybrid doesn't mean anything c'mon dude" vs. "The royal family may like the mutants we need to get rid of them, why else would one argue with a hunter?"
